Read the reviews and thought this would be great for our anniversary. She loves a good prime rib so this was it. We arrived about 5:20 and waited 10-15 minutes to be seated. Had the fried mushroom appetizer, I liked it, her, not so much. We both had the half cut prime rib, medium rare with salad and baked potato. Salad and potato were very good. They give you plenty of butter and sour cream. Service was good. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, it just didn't taste very good. We probably didn't even eat half of it and this was the small cut. We will not be coming back. It's too bad because we were excited to try a new place and love a good prime rib, we just didn't find one here. read more

Next time we will stay home. For the $100 we would have Costco filets for a month! All of the wait staff were phenomenal. The food... Not so much. Save yourself from any appetizers. We hadn't been to the Timbermine in probably 20 years. The service was good. The food quality, meh. I had a tenderloin (filet mignon) with a lobster tail, and baked potato. It was $42 for this meal. I had a regular house salad for starters, and a half order of calimari. My wife had prime rib, broccoli, and a salad. They serve bread before the meal, so that was nice. I really care about service and food quality way more than I care about ambience. This place is really big on ambience, and it's nice... I really like the ability to dim or brighten the light above the table. Food quality: My steak was cooked just right - medium rare. BUT, it had no seasoning. It was bland. I cook a lot of steaks, and I always season my steaks. I don't get why some restaurants don't season their steaks! I had to put salt and pepper on it, and added steak sauce, and used some of my wife's horse radish sauce to get a little flavor going. The lobster tail was good, but slightly undercooked. The bottom of it was still a little translucent. I'm a big sushi fan, but I don't like undercooked (or overcooked) lobster. Some of it was so undercooked it was like gristle, and I had to spit it out. The salad, sorry to say, wasn't bad in flavor, but was somewhat wilted, and not crisp at all. It was days old. The croutons were the best part of the salad. My wife liked her prime rib, it was huge. Some parts of her broccoli were old with dark spots, and she set those pieces aside. The calamari and chipotle sauce were very good, although I've never seen calamari in sticks... they resembled mozzarella sticks, and I can't help but wonder if they're not chopped and pressed... nonetheless they were tasty. I had a glass of red wine, and it was a different server who brought it from the bar, and I had to pay for it separately... That was weird. And yes, I've lived in Utah for over 30 years. Service was friendly and efficient, and we didn't have to wait long for anything. Would we go back? Yeah, probably, but we probably won't be dying to go back any time soon. I'm a fresh-food kind of person, and I didn't feel like the food was as fresh as it should have been, or could have been, so 3 stars is all I can do for now. read more

The steak is awesome and it's a fun atmosphere but I'm not super impressed with the customer service. We told the hostess that we would prefer a certain seat and that we were willing to wait for it, but they sat us in the wrong area twice. If the hostess and other staff had been paying more attention to the customers instead of chatting amongst themselves, it would have been a much better experience. read more

We have dined at the Timermine four or five times per year for the last 25 years. We have never had a bad meal. These people really know how to age a quality steak as well as how to prepare it. We've paid more than double the price for comparable meals in fancy restaurants in Las Vegas, New York, and San Francisco. The atmosphere at the Timbermine is so incredible throughout the entire enormous facility that you could spend hours walking through gazing at the collection of antiques that bring the old west alive all over again. It's so cool that you hope that they don't seat you right away so you will have time to wander around and look at everything. Don't believe the negative critics. read more

It's alright here. I love the prime-rib and have come here before and I will be going back. On my honeymoon night, my husband and I came from Eden to have a romantic dinner. My night never ended as I was hunched over the toilet throwing up. I had the crab and prime-rib and have never gotten sick from the prime rib but I am thinking it was the crab. A group of us are in town from Ohio on a ski trip I'm staying in Eden so we wanted to have a nice steak dinner after a great day on the mountain. This place was anything but great. We had a late lunch or early dinner on a Sunday. There was no one in the place when we arrived. Got drinks fast. Mushrooms were good. The salad was fair to poor, did like the house dressing. We waited about 45 min. for food. I don't know what they do when they are busy. I had the ground sirloin. Wanted it med-rare. Very well done. There were 7 of us and none of us were impressed. Soggy vegs. One of the kids had a grilled cheese sandwich. It was burned on one side and had processed cheese. wasn't eatable. I would have liked to see the chef eat it. Nice ambiance, but cold. Oh my goodness! If you have a special occasion to celebrate... Go to the Timber Mine! Go to the Timber Mine if you don't have a special occasion but wish you did. They make dining so enjoyable. The food here is consistently great. I love the atmosphere and the staff is friendly and caters to our every want. I usually have steak and my wife has salmon but loves their prime rib as well . All are always excellent. We also love the stuffed mushrooms. read more

It's probably been 15 years since our last visit to the Timbermine, but I was craving some prime rib and the recent reviews were very good, so we have it a try this past weekend. Atmosphere is still a little too dark for my tastes, but service was prompt and courteous. Drink order taken quickly and waitress was very patient as we have placed our order for dinner. Wife had fish and I ordered the 22 ounce prime rib. The food came out in a very reasonable time, and was perfectly cooked. My prime rib was probably the best cut I've seen or eaten in 10 years or longer. My wife's halibut was equally delicious. We were very happy with our dinner at the Timberline. We'll be back and it won't be 15 more years either! A bit expensive but worth it. Highly recommend. read more

My husband and I have been here twice and both times we really enjoyed the food. I had the prime rib which was very good and perfectly cooked, as well as the new york strip steak which was delicious. My husband has had the bacon wrapped sirloin both times and loves it. The menu is simple but really delicious. Plus the decorations here are SO fun! That's half the fun of this place! read more

This is by far the best steak in the Ogden area. It's out of the way, and it's usually packed, especially on weekends. I'm baffled by any bad reviews this gets. The only way to go is the filet, I've never had anything else. And start with the either the shrimp cocktail or the fried mushrooms, both are fantastic. We were vacationing in Utah taking in the wonderful skiing. Many people we ran into loved this place, so we gave it a try. The attire is casual, not formal, as listed. The service was excellent! We thought that the steaks were average and mine actually had quite a bit of fat on it. First time at Timbermine. Excellent service! Very quick to be seated and then waited on. Tucker kept the drinks full and the bread coming. He provided just the right amount of contact and was not intrusive. The place was full but it was not noisy because of the setup. Nice to be able to control the lighting for our own table. I recently attended a catered lunch at the Timbermine for an organization to which I belong. Ahead of time, I requested a vegan entree, as did at least two other attendees. The "veggie" plates arrived after nearly everyone else had not only been served, but had nearly finished eating. The entree I received was a bowl of warm, uncooked vegetables. I left feeling treated with a total lack of respect by the Timbermine kitchen staff because I did not order a meat entree. If this event is held at the Timbermine next year, I will not attend. read more

Very disappointed, as long time customers we went there on Feb 3 2018 @ 9:00 in the evening. Service was good that's where it ended. So my wife orders the 49er with no pepper, medium well, easy order we thought. Order arrives it has pepper on it, so send it back they wash the pepper off throw it back on the grill to heat it back up comes back out and its way over cooked and tuff as can be. Send it back and the manager comes out saying we won't cut a new steak for my wife because he doesn't understand how a tuff over done steak is his fault and says he can do a porter house instead, finally said ok medium well yeah and what comes out rare, so by this time we are tired of the run around and horrible kitchen serve we tell the server to take it back and remove it from our bill. She takes it comes back and says the manager says no you must pay for it all. What a horrible excuse for a manager he messes up 3 times and blames it on us, will never go back with service like this its amazing they have lasted 30years. read more
