Fantastic food! The filet melts in your mouth and the crab bisque is yummy. Great people, great service.

Some very nice dishes but portions are double or triple what should be served and non-smoking section is just as health hazardous as being in the smoking section. We gave this place the benefit of the doubt because we likes their honey butter and splitting the chicken parm but the smoke eventually killed it for us. read more

I end up here nearly once a week, and usually for Sunday brunch. The staff and service are terrific -- one of the managers almost always checks in with us. At brunch, I vote for the Mediterranean omelet and my husband indulges in the 'Health Kick' (which looks anything but healthy!). Portions are very generous and prices are reasonable. For dinner, there aren't many vegetarian options, but they have a wide selection of specialty burgers which can be prepared with a decent veggie patty. (I like the Big Top burger, which is no longer shown on the menu but still available). Burgers and sandwiches come with awesome fries or healthier sides. My carnivore husband is very, very fond of the chicken parmesan entree. We liked Heather's German Chocolate Cake so much we served it at our wedding! Nice atmosphere, easy access from Rte 29N, and a pleasant patio in the summer time. Definitely worth the short trip from Charlottesville! read more

I stopped here today for a late lunch and found the beer selection to be adequate and the draft selection was excellent. I ordered the Clint Eastwood burger and found it to be average, the best part were the toppings and the bun. The beef patty seemed like it came in mass-produced, the fries were picked up at Burger King. I was slightly put off by the fact that the bartender appeared unkempt and she was focused on socializing with a waitress and an unknown male employee. Not that I waited long and I was tended to, I just felt like the place was a rudderless ship that was staffed by immature personnel without supervision. I eat at bars instead of tables to avoid the rookies. I would give this place a second try when I'm in the area again, and maybe I will have a better experience next time, but only because of the beer. read more

First time there. Went for lunch. My husband had the Jersey Shore. It was amazing. I ordered the Cordon Bleu sandwich. I was very disappointed. Looked and tasted like they walked across to McD to get it. Had no bacon or ham. I mentioned to waitress so they can update it for menu. We will go back again but you can bet I WILLnot get that sandwich again. Oh and the 7 bean salad was awesome too. read more

Went to timberwood for a quick bite before going to a party. Ordered the nachos, but asked them to hold the beef. I guess they thought that meant i wanted a giant plate of chips with nothing more than sour cream and what appeared to be melted white american cheese. Big let down. I had no idea someone could screw up nachos like they did. read more

Definitely my favorite restaurant in the Forest Lakes area. Great variety, great food, (between my husband and I we have tried just about everything on the menu) and always friendly service. You can also call in your order and when you pick it up you don't even have to get out of your car, they bring it right out to you. They have a really nice outdoor seating area also. A great great restaurant! You want it they have it at Timberwood. Everything I've tried on the menu has been very good. The menu ranges from Salads and sandwiches (including a Chuck Norris Burger!) to a range of delicious and varied entrees. The menu features something for everyone from seafood, to italian, to mexican, to good old steak and chops. They have a solid beer list and a sampler so you can experience several brews. Its great for lunch (I work in the area) but find myself leaving downtown C-ville to venture up 29 for more Timberwood. I rarely order salads as an entree but have a hard time tearing myself away when I come here. The Chicken Strip salad is superior. The crap stuffed fish (cant remember what exactly, tilapia or rockfish i believe) over a cheese risotto is amazing! Ignore any negatives listed here, I have enjoyed many great meals here at a good price and received high quality. There is always plenty of seating and good service. I cant wait to go back and look forward to getting acquainted with the bar next time around. read more

We have eaten here twice and will go back. Both times I ordered the patty melt. I usually do not eat American beef (I know too much about the processing, yuk) but I ordered the local beef option, well worth the extra $1.50 or whatever it was. The sandwich was just plain classic delicious. I ordered the regular fries the first visit, which were served hot right out of the fryer, the seasoned fries the second visit, not too hot, not preferred. If you don't care for cheese, read the menu carefully because it's in a lot of the offerings and you have to ask them to eliminate it, as my guest had to do. His steaks were done perfectly. Side salads good as well. I love to experiment with restaurant drinks and had the appletini and then the lemon drop on my two visits. Great bartending. Very nice service, truly. They don't ask "everything OK?" while walking on by. They STOP, make eye contact and ask and wait for you to respond. We are not fancy looking people, I was there in my farm shoes for heaven's sake and they still treated us very well. I would like to leave a four star review because it's never good to give a perfect review, right? But I just can't think of a reason to take away that fifth star. read more

I give this restaurant zero stars. In order to leave a comment I must give at least one star. Please read this as zero stars. My experience here was horrible. I have celiac and am obviously highly allergic to gluten. We went out of our way to get to this restaurant to make sure I was safe for dinner on our long drive home. We ate there last night. Today, I am incredibly sick. In response to the fact I was immediately sick while still on the premises, the manager offered me Benadryl. Clearly these people have no idea how to deal with gluten intolerance. When we arrived at the restaurant, I informed the hostess I was very sensitive to gluten. I did the same thing when I first spoke with the waitress, sharing with her we had gone out of our way to get to Timberwood Grill because we understood this restaurant was responsible about gluten free issues. My salad was delivered with croutons on it. After the salad scare, I began to worry about the nachos we had ordered. They were ordered from the gluten free menu. Ninety percent of the chips in the order were apparently gluten free, but some of the chips were different. When I asked about the different chips, I was assured the platter was completely gluten free. After I had consumed the different chips, the waitress came by to let me know they were actually wheat chips. Likewise, the "gluten free" fries we consumed were advertised as gluten free. After I began to get sick while still in the restaurant, the manager came by the table to say she needed to let me know the fries were not cooked in designated oil and that there might be traces of gluten in them. Needless to say, I was sick and uncomfortable on my four hour ride the rest of the way home to North Carolina. I know people have been criminally prosecuted in my state for advertising something as gluten free and knowing it is not, in fact, gluten free. I do not know the laws in Virginia, but will find out. The manager, who had no idea what she was talking about , said the entire thing was a "server error" and indeed, the server was not well versed in the seriousness of this disease. Also, after being told several times I was gluten intolerant, she allegedly did not make a note of that fact on the order. Nonetheless, the manager was also clueless, offering Benedryl to combat the injury. These people are not trained and do not realize they have left me with two weeks of misery and an inability to walk, as my joints swell up today and my body is ravaged. Please avoid this restaurant if you have any tendency to be impacted by gluten. I believe if a restaurant advertises itself as a gluten free eating experience, they have a responsibility to educate their employees. If you are on a gluten free diet because you are trying to be healthy, maybe the gluten included in the "gluten free" items here will not leave you in pain. As for a celiac, you would prefer to not eat than to eat here. Please beware. read more

I really want to LOVE this place: great location, wonderful atmosphere with good dining options (dining room, bar, and outside options), attentive bartenders (and craft beers if you're into that), and waitstaff that are young but attentive. But the food tends to be inconsistent. A past favorite dish, the Stoplight Enchiladas, was not up to par this last time - the beef was stringy and fatty. (The cheesy mexi rice was awesome, though!) I tried a new dish, the Carolina Cakes, at my last visit, and was disappointed as well. I'm not a fan of their burgers, either - they seem more like Bubba burgers than typical restaurant fare. On the plus side, I've been consistently happy with their sandwiches - the T. S. Effkatts' Unaffected Beauty is always delicious, and same with their gyro. And the brunches I've had there have been great. Hoping management takes these reviews into consideration - it really could be an A+ restaurant instead of a B. Go for apps and drinks, for sure, and keep an eye on the dinners - hopefully they'll just get better! read more
