This place is awful! We were here with a toddler and the service took 1 hour while it was empty. We had to remind them to make our breakfasts. They sell out of their fish and chips so often I haven't tried them yet. One of the best eggs Benedict in Vista, but get there early if you can. They often close up at 1 when it has been busy. They welcome pets and have. The Nutella banana crepes are nice and the portions on sandwiches are generous. The food is high quality and the service is attentive. I don't know how many people they have working in the back, but they are SPEEDY! The ladies up front are constantly rushing around, cleaning, busing, seating and serving.. may look like they'd be too busy, but they never use that as an excuse to skimp on their awesome customer service! My family's been here with me 3-4 times and even though it's been a while, they still remembered and welcomed us warmly. I skimmed through some photos on yelp and my son saw the Spongebob French toast that wasn't on the menu, he was so excited. The server didn't know what we were talking about at first, but after looking at the picture, gave the thumbs up and sent the order back. My husband was the same story, saw the loaded French toast in a picture, it wasn't on the menu either, but they found a way to serve it right up! Mine was just off the menu, quick and easy as always. We were there for a Sunday brunch and there just so happened to be a family of about 12+ seated right after us, and adjacent to us. Seemed like they were maybe being a little difficult, but the servers still did their best to accommodate with a smile. I knew I wanted to finally give their place a review and as we were leaving, one of the guys from the back (chef, manager? idk) walked us out and said thanks for coming back. Went to this restaurant while we were in the area due to the reviews.. Not sure why it is such great reviews.. The waitress was really nice when she finally came around, We ordered: Omelet NO CHEESE Cobb Salad Philly Cheese-steak Sandwich Chili Well the Omelet came with cheese and so it had to be taken back it took SO LONG to have it replaced everyone was almost done eating when it showed up. However I think they add milk or cheese to the eggs to make it fluffy so right after eating it my stomach was not doing good.. Dairy allergies suck and I had told the waitress I was allergic to dairy. The salad was really good. The steak was tough and chewy no good at all. The chili I was told was good.. Needless to say I wouldn't make a return trip. read more

The owner and staff are very friendly and it's a pleasant enough (very homey) atmosphere. The food, however, was not anywhere near the quality and taste from our many times eating here before the pandemic. I've come to find that many restaurants have suffered a similar fate, so while this is disappointing, it's too common at too many places. It was going to be my 2nd time at this restaurant but as soon as we were at the door the lady told us we can't take you. I get they can refuse service but it's a restaurant and it was empty. If you try to go with more than 6 people I highly recommend to call first or the same will happen to you. I wonder what they do when they get "busy" , do they just send people away. They definitely should put a sign of the limit of people they can serve so they don't waste peoples time. The one thing I liked from the previous time I went was the lady server being nice. Whenever we want a Time Out from our regular routine and or to celebrate a Birthday or something we not only like to come here We LOVE it! Everything is so fresh. I usually order the same thing but on my last visit here I got the breakfast stuffed crepe with egg meat & cheese. So good! I had it with their sour cream & salsa. I told them they seriously need to bottle their salsa ~~ it's fantastic! I'd be a regular buyer if they did! I'll keep this review simple because this place really speaks for itself. Go for a casual date or have a family brunch here. We especially love the staffers for they remember us every time & treat us like an extension of their family run business. Rude Service. We asked to sit at the outdoor seating and were told the outdoor seating was for people with dogs. We looked around and... no one was there.... no people.... No dogs. We asked if we could put two tiny cafe tables together because there were four in our party and were told we could only sit at one. Again.... No One was there. Snotty and arrogant. read more

We went here for breakfast/lunch and enjoyed sitting on their small patio area. With corona virus they have scaled down their menu but certainly adequate. Service is friendly and fast, food is delivered hot and it tastes great. My wife had a Tuna Melt sandwhich with a side salad that was very generous in size. The tuna was very tasty. I had Over easy eggs with Corned Beef Hash, hash brown potatoes and Rye Toast. It was very good. The location of their restaurant keeps the patio in the shade so very pleasant on a warm day. read more

This is a great find.. its tucked away in a shopping center but we enjoyed breakfast very much. The service was amazing and there out door patio is super nice. Not to mention that they are very dog friendly, they even treated our pup to some fresh bacon. The omelets were great they even special ordered one for my sister, my cowboy breakfast was amazing, the hash browns are amazing. Panckaes are an option to toast highly recommended. Used to like this place! Not no more. My son and I went there and I ordered cali eggs bendict. There was a lot of sauce but hardly any bacon and tiny tomato. Eating I found eggshells and not a little..a lot !! I showed the waitress. Most were in napkin that a spit out the food. She said , sometimes that happens ! There were no offers to remake or do anything about it. Being a former restaurant owner, I always tip. My son picked up the check and left no tip. I hope they open soon and ask everyone in the area to frequent this and other local establishments when they re-open to support them. Give your servers big tips and remember the impact they have had as essential businesses when you were afraid to go out. Got here around 12pm on Sunday. It was not busy so we just walked in and the waitress let us pick our table. Since the fish and chips was named best in town, I ordered it for my meal. I forgot what my friend got but I remember him liking it. I like my fish and chips too cause it's crispy on the outside and soft inside. The portion was big so I didn't finish the fries. We spent quite some time there talking and the waitress checked on us couple times to see if we need refill. The waitress was very nice. It's overall a good experience. I will definitely order the fish and chips again. The only complain I would have is their water. It had a bad taste in it. It's probably tap water? Next time I will get soda or something. read more

Went here for lunch and paid $20 for two measly pieces of fish and some fries. I definitely think the prices could be a lot more reasonable. The food was good, no compaints there. Can't make modifications to menu. They don't serve egg whites chicken sausage or country style potatoes. Eggs Benedict was cold no flavor and too much hollandaise sauce. Food was cold. Coffee was room temp. Food overall was big thumbs down. The ONLY pleasant experience was the 2 ladies we met who work here.they were super friendly and pleasant and helpful.... Cute little family owned restaurant. Staff is very kind and attentive. I loved sitting on the patio. The sausage was delicious. The potatoes were nice. If you don't like bell peppers, they do have bell peppers in them. The omelette was disappointing as the spinach seemed to be frozen and not drained properly. It made the omelette very wet and mushy which wasn't my partner's favorite. That being said, the egg part was done very well, and he LOVED the toast. The hash browns were decent. I typically like to visit a place several times before writing a review. Especially when I realize after the first time that I will be certain to return, I want to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Such is the case with Time Out Cafe. The first time we came it was for breakfast. Sadly, this was during the avocado shortage so small businesses such as this were unable to get their hands on them without a major price hike. Unfortunately for me I had gone in with the intention of getting a veggie Omelette with avocado so I was slightly disappointed. The server (whom I later would discover is one of the owners) apologized profusely but, I assured her that it was really no big deal. I asked if they could possibly make me Eggs Benedict but, with spinach and tomato aka "Florentine" style, she quickly replied that would not be a problem. It was absolutely divine; creamy, tangy hollandaise, super fresh produce, eggs poached nicely, and the accompanying hash browns perfectly crispy and tasty. The next visit I tried the Cali Wrap with chicken. It was bursting with avocado (shortage over, yeah!!!) delicious chicken and, stuffed with fresh lettuce and tomato. I ordered this with a side salad with blue cheese, which the owner said she made in house herself, along with all other dressings as well as the soup du jour. I have visited two additional times for takeout. Once I had the Cali wrap again, the next, a classic grilled cheese with fries. The sandwich was deliciously cheesy and nicely toasted. I wasn't too excited about the fries as they didn't taste very fresh. I will stick with the side salad next time. In addition to the food, the other standout here is the customer service by owner, Gabby. She is super friendly and attentive; during our dine-in visits our drinks were never empty and we were always checked on to see if we needed anything else. If you're looking for the big chain restaurants with their mass produced burgers and rushed service this is not your joint. If you want some homestyle-made-to-order cooking with a more personal dining experience, come and check them out. You won't be disappointed. read more
