Little hole in the wall diner that has become my go to location for Sunday breakfast if I am out riding my motorcycle. It's just good country cooking. They have 12 different burger variations though I have yet to try any... Trying to get the burger connoisseurs (my wife and daughter) to come try them out. I agree with the other reviewer that compared this place to Cracker Barrel. If you are only looking for good service and a large ~quantity~ of food, then TTE is your place. I will say service was pretty quick, friendly and the portions and options were pretty large. I am speaking about breakfast. But the actual quality... not so much. For breakfast I got one of the platters that had scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits with sausage gravy and a Belgian waffle.... so yeah, alot! Everything was pretty on par with what you might get from Cracker Barrel, and even the eggs and the waffle just seemed very heavy and dense. I don't remember anything on the menu offering any fresh fruit or veggies to go with breakfast. And the decor... was a bit odd. Yes we got the 'TTE' theme with all the clocks, but they hung ceiling lights on the wall and had lots of just weird decor all over the place that just seemed kind of random. To visit the restroom you kind of have to walk through the kitchen to get there and I will say the kitchen looked spotless. They had a SET menu, pre-cooked food $18 for Thanksgiving today. Got there right when they opened at 10:00, nobody else in there. Specifically picked this place to eat because we had eaten there before. Servers more occupied filling to-go orders than waiting on people eating in the restaurant. Took 45 minutes to get our food, it was cold. Told them we wanted whole new plate, not heated in microwave. Waited 10 more minutes, brought us back the same plate, STILL COLD. We no longer had appetite, asked to speak to the manager, server said he was "too busy". Never had a manager refuse to speak to an unhappy customer. Had eaten here before and the food is good but there NO EXCUSE for today. Will never go back. Went to another restaurant where they appreciate you coming in on a Holiday. read more

Slow slow slow 25 minutes for a Swiss burger with sweet potato fries....and it was today's special

Chose this place for dinner as we had been there for breakfast a few years ago. I remembered it as being quaint and having good food. I ordered the roast beef...it was a little dry for my taste. They brought my dinner minus one sweet potato stick. While I appreciated that they had a count for them but it was odd that they brought one on it's own plate after I was 1/2 way done with my meal. We ordered pie for desert. The waitress stated that she was going to charge my mother less for her piece of pie as it was cut small. The service was slow for us as our waitress was apparently only helping out in our dining area. They didn't explain that the number placed on the table was our check so we waited several minutes for her to finally show up at our table and explain that. I didn't appreciate that the waitress we asked initially didn't explain that to us. I did not like that I could not review the bill before paying for the meal. I was not able to determine if the pie was charged less or not..I was not given a receipt as I paid with cash for the meal. It might be a while before I go back again. read more

My wife and I have eaten here in the past and had a great experience. Today was another story. We ordered the special for the day which was the Philly steak sandwich with mashed potatoes as our side. The sandwich took over an hour to reach our table. When we got the sandwich it was crusty but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and my lunch hour was nearing its end. the first bite was crunchy to the point the bread was falling apart. it was so hard that it cut the inside of my check. The mashed potatoes was chunky and tasted strange. The waitress never brought me my check but she did bring me 1 refill on my soda. I paid for the meal but was spitting blood the rest of the hour. I have visited this place twice and the food has been consistently awesome. The service is always nice and friendly. The fried green tomatoes are very good and piping hot. We had the free1/2 order from the Yelp app. You have to show your ID to get the offer, which I thought was weird, but oh well. Their desserts are delicious. They have a local older lady who makes them, which I thought was super cute and added a "homey" touch. My fave here is the peanut butter pie. It is light, fluffy and AWESOME!! If you get it make sure you ask for chocolate sauce drizzled on top...HEAVENLY!! I tried the carrot cake today, which was moist and good...not the best I've ever had (this is my favorite dessert in the world, so I'm pretty hard to impress when it comes to this one), but good. I was a little peeved that the waitress gave me the "smallest" piece that it looked like they had (trust me, I looked),but I digress :-). Anyway, the diner is inside a strip mall and is pretty easy to miss. The inside looks dated and is no frills, for sure. Don't let the appearance freak you out though. Trust me, my first time there, I almost turned around, but my husband was so hungry until we HAD to stay...and I'm so glad that we did. Classic case of "don't judge the book by its cover." Now, don't go looking for gourmet cuisine because that isn't what this is. It's a diner, not a five star restaurant. It's good, down home, country cooking...that's it. Plain and simple. Breakfast. Home fries were served cold and too salty. Eggs were barely warm and the chicken fried steak was very good and warm. Coffee great. My wife's baskets and gravy was cold and sent back for warming. The taste over all tasted good but cold. Service and price were ok. We were very disappointed with service, we never received our food after waiting 30 plus minutes. However, 2-3 couples came in after us and were served n a timely manner. The waitress informed one couple your food will be out shortly, when I inquired about ours she said it's coming. When we left our waitress was out the window telling cook what we had ordered which means our orders were never turned in. This place is small and a hidden gem. In a shopping plaza i guess you'd call it. We tried steak very pleased. We have tried the seafood ayce the crawfish potpie is a must. The desserts are very tasty but, lets not forget about the serivce. The waitresses are super sweet, very accommodating and one of the owners that we met was a nice man and very hand on in the business. My husband ate here on a work trip and couldn't wait to take us here as we passed through when traveling as a family. He raved about the hamburger steak and insisted we order it. It was great! I really have to make an additional comment about this restaurant. We went there late Friday night. We were a party of 6 and came in about one hour before closing. Despite this our waitress "server #338" was energetic efficient warm and professional. The food is outstanding, pleantiful and reasonably priced. The cream spinach and the baked beans are the best in Mobile. The roast beef is a treat. The thing that contunously amazes me at this restaurant is the staff. Without exception you are greated by a crew that really seems excited that you are eating at their restaurant. Wow,...congratulations to the person or persons who recruits, trains or retains these people. They are best in this city...without exception. read more

I have been coming to your place for a little over 11 or so years. The food is always great and the service is decent, albeit a little slow. But I love your place so I keep coming back and I keep bringing family and co-workers. My best friend and I came in for lunch yesterday, 3/7/16, around 12:30. I get the weekly specials emailed to me and we were craving the Monday special, Salisbury Steak! The non-smoking dining room was dead, much to my surprise; there was one table of 4 people. So we seated ourselves and waited for a waitress to come over, or even to be acknowledged. And then we waited some more. An older couple came in after us and sat down not too far from us. They were immediately greeted by the waitress with a very raspy voice, and she got their drink order. She brought their drinks, then went over some menu details with them, and then took their order. On the other side of the room the dark-haired waitress (that had a severe foot injury and was in a boot several months ago-she gave my best friend and I her sob story back then and we left her a pretty hefty tip because she clearly needed it more than we did) was working the table of 4. After she spoke to her table, she looked at us a couple of times but instead of coming over she decided it was time to set the other (empty) tables. So she started to put out silverware and what-not. Meanwhile my friend and I sat there. No one said hello, no one said they'd be with us in a moment, NOTHING. So after 18 minutes we got up and walked out. The dark-haired waitress caught our eye as we walked by the counter where you pay (or at least the place you pay when you actually get service, food, and beverages!). Again, nothing was said to us. Needless to say we were furious. Why in the world were we completely ignored?! Who the heck knows. I could maybe see us being overlooked if they had been super busy like they used to be at that time of day, but they were pretty dead. Regardless, you guys have lost a long-time customer. Perhaps this is why the once busy lunch spot was dead at 12:30...crappy service, or really just the lack of service in general! read more

Yum! While on a recent USA tour it became part of my trip plan to check out the local flavors. This place had two of my favorite things: fried pickle SPEARS! and fried green tomatoes with bacon in the remoulade. What a fabulous discovery. My daughter, who was thrilled about her awesome spaghetti, said this may have to become one of her regulars when she gets to campus in the fall. My only gripe, although it is to be expected in the DEEP south, is the cigarette smoke filtering in from the smoking (still) section. My wife and I were on our way to Louisiana and stopped to fill up when we spotted this family owned restaurant. We were greeted with Alabaman courtesy by the friendly staff and we just had a wonderful down home lunch. She had a terrific cheeseburger accompanied by what she termed the best sweet potato fries she has ever had. [And she's an expert] I had the special of the day which was a wonderful and largeTaco Salad followed by one of my very favorites, homemade Peanut Butter Pie. It was delicious. Wine is available. The atmosphere is whimsical with clocks of all sorts lining the walls. One side of the restaurant is smoking and the other non but there is no carry over of smoke as there is a large lobby separating the two sections. We were told that if you bring in a clock for them to display you will get a free slice of pie and that, if you bring in 8 or more, you get the whole pie!! They may have been kidding but I wouldn't count on it. If you find yourself traveling on I-10 west of Mobile give yourself a treat when it's Time To Eat. read more

One of our go to places to eat when my in-laws are in town. My nephew loves the fried Mac and cheese bites. Burgers are good. They have a smoking section so sometimes the smell is unbearable. Other than that, service is normally always great. read more

This meal didn't start off well. Sausage they served me was cold after I paid for an upgrade on it. The home fries were also cold when they arrived . The eggs I asked for to be soft scrambled were way overcooked and dry. I had to tell the idiot hostess this twice to get her to go find my waitress so that was ridiculous, apparently she was too wrapped up in a conversation so when I told her my food was cold the first time she did nothing and after I told her the second time all she did was turn and walk away so I had to wait for her to come back and ask AGAIN for my server. Maybe she needs to be replaced? My server offered to take it out the check and I told her "No I was hungry" and she took it and read it and brought back WAY LESS food but not her fault she didn't cook she didn't take it off the plate. I'm guessing this is going to be my last stop here. It was great the last time I was here but it's really gone downhill ever since. Apparently they microwaved my sausage on the same plate because it came back in a swimming pool of grease, see photo, and they also kept most of my home fries in the kitchen so this place it was once so good is now apparently on its way to being a loser. To her credit my server, not the lazy hostess, went out of her way to try and make it right bless her heart so she saved them from a one star review because she was so wonderful. It was just kinda boring food. Nothing great. Wouldn't really recommend. The decor is fun to look at though.

Checked in with Yelp and there was a coupon available but when we presented it to the waitress she said it was on for out of state people. It was a half order of green fried tomatoes free. We ordered it anyway. It was a good portion for half an appetizer. But the tomatoes seemed to be working their way out of green. Breaking was good but the tomatoes were mushy. It came with a chipotle ranch sauce but we preferred just the ranch that was also brought out. read more

I posted my experience at this restaurant on the main page and the owner proceeded to call me a liar I did not get my correct food I ordered it I got a salad with nothing on it I called up there they told me they would fix it I'll get there and keep in mind it was pouring rain and I called ahead for them to tell me I'd have to buy another salad even though I paid full price for a salad that had just lettuce. While I was in there waiting Britney and Tiffany were very nasty and rude there were flies everywhere and roaches wouldn't be surprised if there were rats in the back. A very disgusting restaurant and even more disgusting owner to sit here and call me a liar no wonder the building looks like it does they do not care about their customers even though we are the ones who keep it up and running I would not recommend eating here it's very disgusting in there. We were traveling through from Walt Disneyworld going to Colorado, and stopped for a night. And the service we had was pretty welcoming. There are a lot of certifications on the wall that the waitresses all took for hospitality and hostessing. And I felt taken care of. We had really good food and everything tasted amazing. Stopped in for lunch on my way into Mobile this past Monday and couldn't be happier I did. Service was excellent with a friendly and attentive staff. I ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and field peas. The hamburger steak was a very good portion, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The gravy over the steak was thick and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were delicious as was the field peas. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone. read more
