The atmosphere is fantastic. That's it. Most of the menu is fried. I tried the liver and onions, which took 45 minutes. It was tough, grisly and had no onions. Husband had the chicken fried steak, which was a freezer burned hamburger patty, battered and deep fried. He took 3 bites, it tasted terrible. We returned the meal and asked to have it removed from our check. The staff refused even a partial refund and threatened to call the police if we didn't pay the entire bill. Terrible customer service.

Mrs Pug had a craving for the pork chops and tomato gravy. This is a favorite of our group. We arrived and the crowd was small and seating quick. Greeted by a pair of servers, one was in training. Spouse ordered the fried chops (didn't know they fried them before this trip, have always had the grilled) and I went for the chicken fried steak. Food was quick and as expected, home cooking with no cleanup. Service was as I prefer, attentive but not intrusive. Pricing very fair for what we get and plenty of leftovers to take for later. A very dull review for a very dull meal, nothing out of the ordinary and not even a parking lot adventure and in this area sometimes we do get a show with the laundry mat right next door. Only thing holding back the 5th star is the later in the evening tummy rumbles from the possibly need to change oil in the fryer, but I am guessing and it could be something else. Bottom line we will be back and if you want home cooking this is a great option, but where they really shine is the burger section, I have made it all the way around the clock except for the double meat options as I could not eat all that and it would just be a waste of food. Give them a try and you will be happy. Nice family atmosphere and great service.

Really homey decor and service is the highlight here. A extensive list of traditional Southern cooking, plu more than a dozen burgers. The five o'clock burger was just what I was looking for.

A French Dip Sandwich, Dinner Fries, and a sour pickle

I had the extreme pleasure of having an epic lunch with a delicious French Dip Sandwich, crispy Dinner Fries, a VERY SOUR, and really delicious pickle, and a bottomless glass of sweet tea! It was, again, an example of the great food and service along with the pleasant atmosphere of Time To Eat Cafe that has me returning again and again. Thanks to all at Time To Eat Cafe!

Crawfish Pot Pie with mashed potatoes

We had a pretty solid lunch here and left with very full bellies. I got the crawfish pot pie with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese bites. The sauce on the pot pie is absolutely delicious and so is the fried Mac and cheese. My husband got porkchops, fried okra, and creamed spinach and thought it was really great, too. We finished off with a yummy piece of peanut butter pie!

If this place is Mobile's BEST country cooking, this town's in trouble!! Who knew grabbing a simple breakfast at a local spot could actually be terrible?! Not me!! I am a big fan of breakfast and of small businesses. I prefer avoiding chains whenever possible & actually went out of my way TO support this local business because of it's signage & reviews. Food: It's really hard to mess up scrambled eggs and bacon! The preparation was fine but taste was gross. Poor quality eggs & meat, or dirty cooking elements are the only possible explanation. Service: ‍ Other than the one young black lady who brought out my water and said goodbye to me, no staff in there had a mask on (unless you count the ones used as necklaces or chin guards) nor came by the table once. Not to mention the coughing and nose sniffing going on. Internet: I've got some urgent things that require my immediate response. Instead of going to McDonald's for wifi and coffee, I asked first thing about wifi here. Apparently they have it because you have to give your email in order to access it. But once you're "you in" it doesn't actually work! Which means not only did I consume nasty food with zero service, but I also had to then go somewhere else to send the urgent file access. To top off the experience, I paid with a $20 bill for a tab under $9 and was given all $1 bills for change. Fellow travelers, don't believe the hype. IHOP, fast food, even Waffle House is a better choice. Save your time, health, and money and skip Time To Eat Cafe... unless you are a smoker. They proudly features smoker's dining room so enjoy!

Hominy, hush puppies, cornbread, grits, Alabama white sauce on any meat, especially smoked chicken, are all popular in Alabama. BBQ is practically a religion in the South! As former certified Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) certified judges, my husband and I completed the training and paid the fees to be certified. The "KCBS way" is different from a lot of people's preferences in that, for example, a BBQ rib should actually have some "pull" to it, meaning, when you bite into it, your mouth should leave a mark in the rib. This means "fall off the bones" ribs are not KDBS quality, despite how many love that rib consistency. The KCBS judges slots fill up so quickly and required us to travel at our own cost and we did not judge any KCBS events. Back to Southern food. Deep fried double Oreos are one of the many fried foods here in Huntsville, and Melt restaurant features them on their menu. Meat-and-Three restaurants feature a meat (usually fried pork chop, meatloaf, BBQ, fried catfish, country fried steak/chicken) and three sides (fried okra, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked potato, potato salad, cole slaw, French fries) and bread options such as cornbread, rolls, hush puppies. While Southern Cooking is absolutely delicious, I have to limit it because lets face it, it is high in calories and cholesterol. When I do indulge, it's shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, and fried whole okra.

Because this spot is not pretending to be anything. This is full-on, unapologetic dive. And I mean that in the best possible way. You walk in and it's like the '70s, '80s, and a little bit of someone's '90s basement bar all got together and said, "Let's not change a thing." Old banquet-style tables, a bar top that feels like it's hosted a thousand stories, and walls that have clearly seen some things. I loved it immediately. Now let's talk food. The folks next to me were deep into the chicken and dumplings and talking about it like it was a life event. You know that kind of table chatter where you start reconsidering your order mid-bite? Yeah, that. I went shrimp po' boy... and no regrets. Shrimp fried just right. Crispy, flavorful, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Solid sandwich. The fries... eh, they showed up a little tired. Not terrible, just kind of there. A little cold, a little soggy, like they'd already had a long day. But here's the twist. You don't come to Judy's for perfection. You come for personality. For the feeling that you just discovered a place that doesn't care about trends, doesn't need a remodel, and definitely isn't chasing Instagram. It just is what it is... and somehow that works. Fold this into your expectations. If you need polished, keep driving. If you want real, pull up a chair. It's fun. It's different. It's got character for days. Four stars. And honestly, half the star is just for staying exactly the same all these years.

When I looked in Google and saw that they were open on Sunday I decided that I was taking him there. You come in and it is a down home feeling. You have to lay before you eat, not a big deal and for me and my husband it was about $30. They had fried and baked chicken, mashed potatoes, lime beans, black eyed peas, tomatoes and okra, and of course fried green tomatoes. The reviews we had seen had mentioned that item as being great and my husband can attest to the fact that they are delicious!!! The service was good and the people all checked up on us and made sure our drinks were filled and plates cleared away. We talked to one of the servers and they talked about how they were open on Sunday through Friday for lunch but closed and reopened on Friday nights for a seafood buffet. My husband and I looked at each other and went "Yes"! We will DEFINITELY be back to eat some more of their cooking.
