We enjoyed Timo. The service was very good and the food was pretty good too. We made reservations through Yelp for Thursday night only to find them closed when we arrived. We walked across the parking lot to "Rene" and had an amazing experience. We returned the next night to Timo and had a pretty good experience. We ordered the bruschetta board and the meatballs along with a bottle of wine. The service was good. We can be pretty critical of food and would give them three stars on the food. We had made a reservation for Christmas evening about a week in advance via Open Table. On Christmas eve day the restaurant called, leaving a message, advising me there was a mistake made on OpenTable and they were actually closed on Christmas. This left us with no place to eat Christmas evening. Restaurants of this caliber price their meals at the high end of the spectrum and need to take better care of their patrons. My sister and I were staying at Los Abrigados for a few days and decided to try Timo. The atmosphere is wonderful. What a great room for this venue. It was January, so the fireplace was nice for both atmosphere and warmth. Try the wine flights. They're a great way to discover new wines. I've never tried an Arizona wine (Javalina Leap) and probably wouldn't have if it weren't for the wine flight. It was surprisingly very good. We ordered several appetizers to go with our wine and made night of it. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Sedona later this year mainly to have another Timo experience. read more

A wonderful dinner!!! During our 4 month trip thru the US we stopped in Sedona, AZ and have been to Timo and Spoke and Wheel (a dual bar/restaurant) and would highly recommend it for any travelers. The food was excellent. Happy hour in the "Spoke" was great. The next night we went to Timo's and we were not disappointed. The aged steak was worth the price and what made the night special was our waitress (Nicole Wall). On a scale of 1 to 5 she was a 10. Friendly and accommodating she made the dinner more special. Okay; the best part about Timo is Alex, the bartender, but don't let that mislead you. Alexa was awesome! She had all of us at the bar talking and engaging in conversation. Hands down; she was the best bar tender I have ever had! The drinks... Wonderful. The red sangria is fabulous with vanilla and amazing twist of elderberry?!?! So yummy. What a great experience. Went for dinner on my first night in amazing Sedona. Lovely venue with a fireplace and nice bar area. Dinner was a (huge) steak - not sure it was quite worth the pricetag but it was really good. The highlight of the evening, though, was Sophia, the bartender. She helped me work with the kitchen to provide a meal I could eat, given my food allergies, and she absolutely amazing - super genuine and funny, and she went out of her way to make my evening a great one (she found a local paper and also got in touch with some people in the area to see if there was live music playing, because I said I might want to check out some live music while here.) Timo's food was good. However, the waitress was horrible. We still tipped her out of politeness but she behaved as if we were asking for charity when ordering our food, etc. there was also a metal shaving in my clam chowder soup (food safety hazard). Timo was good, but not remotely as good as we expected from the reviews. We started with the bruschetta appetizer, and I liked it except for one thing: the chef doused the main tomato/olive bruschetta )one of three) in a foul smelling truffle oil. Truffle oil is tricky stuff; if you can tell it was used, they used 100x too much. So this was a problem, for the appetizer. On the other hand, very generous portion. For main dishes we tried the smoked salmon on corn cakes (very simple, good), the ostrich meatballs (sauce was very flavorful to the point of overpowering the meatballs, but a good dish anyhow), and the planked salmon (outstanding but served with a nasty kale dish that brought out the bitter aggressive side of the kale without in any way softening it). The Nebbiolo in the by-the-glass list was outstanding. Summary: good, but not great. The chef needs to learn to taste his own dishes. read more

Hands down... The best food I've had in Sedona, and so far I've eaten at Heartline and Elate (two of my previous favorites). This restaurant is chef driven, and it shows. The brie truffle soup is a must have, along with the lamb chops, and the Timo bread with pesto and orange butter. Both salads - beets salad and shrimp sad- are awfully fresh and tasty! Poached mushroom is the best mushroom I ever ate. Freshly made timo bread with 2 different sauces is impressive. We were staying at the resort and arrived late so figured we would give this place a try. Service was excellent and the menu and wine list both had great selections. 4 stars because the food was so slow in coming and the local wines were not represented by the glass as much as I would have liked. Our prosciutto and melon took all of 25 minutes and there was no cooking involved. Good food takes time, but plating food should not take quite so long. Tried 3 bruscetta plates - mushroom, tartare, and fig - all were tasty. The cheese plate had a nice selection and the fruit bread it comes with is delicious. They do offer a wine flight, just ask to see the menu. All in all, would definitely return, just plan on waiting a bit for your food. read more

Came here two years ago and really enjoyed it. Got a wine flight, cheeseboard, etc. Tried the Phoenix version which was just OK. I've tried to come here twice over a holiday weekend, both times turned into a mess. First night nobody would answer the phone for reservation (Thursday) when we showed up there was a private party. On Saturday I called made a reservation for 8:00- hostess seamed annoyed at the lateness but said "I guess we are opened till 9:00, so it is okay." I even mentioned I tried to come a previous night and there was no availability due to a private party. After we got ANOTHER Uber and we showed up we were told it was a private party only. Be careful when calling here for resos, whoever is answering the phone is not aware of the evenings events. I worked the service industry for many years and understand there are private party evenings - it is always difficult to explain to people when you cannot accommodate them. I know I was just annoyed and had to find somewhere else to eat in the immediate area, but twice in one weekend seemed excessive, especially when I called first. I am not sure if we will give this restaurant another chance. Also, we even tried to come by for lunch but they are not open during the day. I like to review restaurants based solely on the food- however this experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Timo is set up as a wine cellar with a good selection of wines and a nice variety of innovative and tasty small plates, with a few full entrees. Well planned but, not well executed. Arrived early on Sunday evening to an empty dining room and was excited when we saw the menu. As the place filled up exactly between 6:30 and 7, I quickly realized this is a gimmicky resort restaurant and as expected for the food came out mediocre at best. She was able to predict what we liked as the night went on. We went to this restaurant 4 times in a 6 day vacation. Alex and Matt Tobey were the reason. Matt Tobey, the manager made sure everything was perfect. He treated us as number one every time we entered the room.
