So disappointing today. We have been eating here at least once a month since last June 2021. Very pleased with the fare on the menu, especially the Chicken fried Steak, Liver and Onions, Meatloaf, etc. However, today Sunday January 23, 2022, something was so bad, we asked if there was a new cook? We explained the chewiness and the burned appearance of the steak. The chicken fried stead was thick and chewy and was nearly black in color (or very very dark brown). Deep Fryer oil very old??? I could not/did not want to finish so i took 3/4's of it home.....for the dog. Wow, so disappointing. We drive from Spanaway for this fare which is not inexpensive and tell everyone how good Tim's Kitchen is and recommend they try it. We will no longer recommend Tim's Kitchen. My spouse had the Tim's Fried Chicken 3 pc, which left him with horrible taste and regretting his choice. perhaps the same oil in the Deep fryer was a bit old???? Finally, during our entire visit, there were tables in the center dining room that had vacated as we arrived. There was a lot of trash, napkins, food, etc on the floor which remained during the first 40 minutes of my meal. 4 female servers working the floor and one male server, and the trash remained for 40 minutes??? One of the girls was even sitting on the floor among the trash trying to level a table with napkins. I was glad she was not our server. This was only a bad representation of how staff performs during the entire shift. And yes, the salad bar was a mess, with food all over the floor Infront of the salad bar. Sadly, we will take this establishment off our Go To list. And it has been so good in the past.... clearly no one is watching or cares how the restaurant is represented to the public, per the previous reviews i just read for 2021 and 2022. Being Sunday about 2 pm there were only 7 other people dining in the establishment. I wish Tim's well and hope someone in charge is reading this, and the other less than favorable reviews. read more

Great old fashioned food. It has a nice atmosphere and some private places to have meetings.

Egghhh....typical American food, nothing to rave about. Just make breakfast at home. It's got that old carpet smell and that memory of finding the only place to eat while on a long road trip kind of feel, yet it wasn't worth it. Service was as expected. read more

now the last good breakfast place in Orting. waitstaff are friendly and accommodating even if they are slammed because of no-show employees. the food is freshly prepared with huge servings. coffee and water are filled consistently. love their hasbrowns and country potatoes with onions. read more

Originally discovered Tim's while visiting WA last year and enjoyed it so much that it was the first breakfast place we ate at after moving to the area this spring as well as for my birthday breakfast a few days ago! We've had several different things, but the chicken and waffles are our favorite we've ever had anywhere! Excellent service at both locations and on all three visits as well. read more

EXTREMELY poor customer service. Ordered food to go. Paid for a extra chicken breast, received a chicken strip instead. Ordered diced potatoes, received hash browns. Returned to the restaurant to and asked for it to be fixed. Manager apologized and said she would have it taken care of. Waited 10 min only for them to give me the same EXACT food as before. Manager didn't check my replacement order before giving it to me. I opened it up and asked her if that was acceptable, she replied NO. I asked for a refund. While she was doing that the other manager came over and he told me that complaining was like beating a dead horse and I needed to get out. Not a good way to start 2022. We won't be back. read more

This was my first time here. Our server was Stacey. She had other tables, but still managed to be fantastic, super friendly, & super attentive. We started with fried pickles, pretzel bites, and mozzarella sticks. I have to say, my taste buds were satisfied. Then I got a TK burger, the flavor in that burger hit every taste bud. I left this place super satisfied. I am not from the area, I am from California and I love good food. Good servers just make everything 10 times better. So this is the place to go. 10/10. read more

Been super excited to try out this place because I love country fried steak! On a mission to find the best one ever since I moved down south. Not sure if it's because I got DoorDash so the food wasn't as great..obviously I knew that the food would be sitting out for awhile since it needed to be picked up and then delivered. But, the steak was very dry and tough to chew..the gravy was a little bland could use more seasoning and the fries were very salty, couldn't eat more than two. I'm really bummed but hopefully after all this is over I could try them out at their restaurant and fingers crossed that it would be as good as it looks.. read more

The only reason I came to Tim's is for the liver and onions. It's hard to find a place that serves it and serve it well. It was very good! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The cherry on the top was the electric train that cruises around the top of the wall near the ceiling. read more

One thing I love around the fall and holiday season is Turkey dinner. Every Thursday during the fall Tim's does the meal right. White meat, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, Yams with marshmallows, cranberries AND biscuit. I come regularly for their 5.00 breakfast, but their specials like this, or their meatloaf, beef stroganoff, and others are great! I was shocked I had been to the Tim's kitchen in Puyallup and I was surprised of how different not in a good way it was. I guess I had high expectations that this restaurant would be the same as the one that I normally go to I brought my family four girls and my daughter to this one. The mac & cheese was so hot that they couldn't eat it and the youngest one did not want the brown stuff on top, which was the bird cheese. The fruit was so old. It wasn't even good anymore. We should've sent it back. The adults ordered meals. I assumed that it included one trip to the salad bar like I get at our normal one. The salads took way too long to come out and he did not give enough ranch dressing, but did not come back in time for us to ask for more. We will never be back. And I can see why on a Saturday night your business was not booming. The mashed potatoes and gravy were tasteless and the gravy was lumpy the gravy that was on the chicken. Fried chicken was also lumpy and lacking. There was just one small blob on there just not good. read more

We love Tim's - it's got the perfect small town vibe with friendly service. Food is always great! Love their meatloaf and chicken fried steak. The kiddos love the creative hot dog options and my littlest is obsessed with the train and the coins in the flooring. Before the remodel there were only one set of coins heading towards the bathroom, but now she looks all over finding new ones! read more

Food was less than average at best. Don't call it sausage gravy if there isn't any sausage in it, not even the taste of sausage. I ordered smothered chicken and biscuits. I got a piece of fried chicken on top of a split biscuit. I asked where the gravy was at and the waiter brought it back with about three tablespoons of gravy, oops I mean white sauce on top. One waitress was hustling the entire time when the rest were in slow motion. My wife's meal was just as bad except her fries were good. First and last chance for this place and it wasn't even busy. read more

I've been a regular here for a long time. While every business has its moments, this family cares. The food is good, they try hard to be good stewards in a small town, during a pandemic. ( in a really rough time for everyone.) I wish I could respond to some of the other posts as I have some insight. I'll bet you that not one of the negative reviewers got anyone in management involved prior to posting. Tim himself is here nearly all the time, and the front staff tries to make everyone feel welcome. Sure there are busy times and some staff right now are learning how to do things and longer hours as well. Have some grace, communicate with the management if you have issues. They want you happy. I come nearly every day for several years and know the culture here. They do appreciate you and your business. Also, don't forget to post good experiences for businesses you visit. They need to know what they are doing right also. read more

We visit Tim's often in support of our small town business owners and we have yet to be disappointed here. In fact, I should have wrote this review a long while ago. Six of us were initially meeting down the street at L&M firehouse, but we were treated horribly, so we happily took our business on down to Tim's instead. (Yes, I wrote a review on the Firehouse too if you're at all curious.) So, about Tim's. The food is always pretty good. They serve a lot of typical diner fare/comfort food, burgers, sandwiches, pasta dishes etc. and they are quite popular for their fried chicken, salad bar and great breakfasts. The service here though, is where Tim's truly shines. A lot of the local teens are employed here and they are always so polite, friendly and nice to chat with. I wish I had gotten the name of the young gal that served us last Saturday night around 5:45. She is graduating this year from Orting HS, and she was a terrific server. There have been 3 articles in the Tacoma News Tribune, I think someone at the Tribune had their palms greased. Maybe even greased from all the old grease dripping off the "Famous" fried chicken. We got to Tim's Kitchen in Orting at 9:30AM, there was 1 group of 2 in front of us. We were put on a wait list. We stood on the sidewalk outside the door for over an hour. When we finally got in we waited for someone to clean a table, then we were seated. We waited and waited for someone to bring coffee, no one is coming with drinks or to take our order. Finally, I got up went and found someone in charge and asked for someone, anyone, to take our order. Finally at 10:52AM someone took our order. I could maybe understand waiting if they had been busy, but they weren't that busy. I had coffee, my wife had water. I ordered 3 piece fried chicken (because it's now lunch time), my wife ordered biscuits and gravy. The chicken was awful, dripping in old tasting grease with no real batter that I could find. It was dry and gross. The mashed potatoes had a couple tablespoons of gravy. Both the potatoes and gravy were pathetic. The green beans were cold, like they just opened the can they came out of and threw them in a small bowl. This disaster cost me $15.99. My wife's meal was a run of the mill biscuits and gravy and certainly not worth wasting an entire morning for. After complaining about the wait and the poor quality of the food. They graciously took the coffee off our order. When we walked out the front door it was 11:50AM. We were tortured in Tim's Kitchen for 2 hours and 20 minutes. read more

The Orting location of Tim's kitchen is what I am rating have not been to other locations, this place has a relaxing atmosphere with a train that drives around above you head while eating so cool keeps kids busy, food is delicious had the chicken and waffles and it was like mom used to make took me back to the past! This time around at Tim's was so much different then my first time here years Ago. It's a lot cleaner now which is a HUGE PLUS! I'm not going to go on too much about the past here because coming in here a few days ago it seems like it's really cleaned up a lot. My youngest daughter is two and like most children that go here, she loves to watch the train go around the entire restaurant. Our waitress was very genuine and attentive and the whole staff was very welcoming. I think this is a great restaurant in Orting that I'm happy is close to home! read more

It's great because it has a little bit of everything for everyone. No matter what you like to eat(unless you're some hyper-vegan)there is something there you will like. Want Chicken Strips? Tim's kitchen is a family restaurant in Orting but with 5 star prices. Recently had a single hamburger covered with a gravy with mushrooms and onions. It was on the senior menu. It was priced at $15.00. Yesterday, my wife and I had a bowl of soup, that's all. The bowl of soup, vegetable soup, was priced at $10.00. Seriously, a bowl is $10.00. I won't be returning any time soon. read more

Food was severely undercooked, especially the pork chop. It was bleeding onto the plate and not even warm. Wait staff seem clueless and generally don't care about the mistakes they made. Out of 8 items my family ordered one came out like we planned. Service was terrible and food was beyond underwhelming. Will not be returning or recommending it to anyone down the road. read more

While the food was decent and the service was exceptional, I will never frequent this establishment again based on the verbal abuse overheard of a employee from a person in charge. We could not believe our ears hearing the employee being verbally abused with such offensive language. The employee was visibly shaken while we were stunned. We do not know the reason for this verbal outburst but it soured us from ever returning. We were visiting the area and ate here based on the high recommendations given to us. Stopped in for breakfast on our way back to Seattle. Chicken fried steak is...the best I've had outside of Texas. And even better than most I've had IN Texas. Well seasoned breading and a proper black pepper country gravy. Mess Hall Hobo Hash was also delicious. Sides are kind of "meh", but portions are huge and service is efficient. read more
