My car needed a new alternator. ALEX came over and replaced it. He took less than an hour (red flag). He told me that it had a one year warranty and that I could call him if needed. So I called him 2 days ago and not only does he ignore my calls, he blocked my number. The alternator that he used was an aftermarket one and he swore up and down that it was OEM. I took my car to another mechanic and he showed me that I got ripped off and what an OEM looks like compared to an aftermarket one! I already filed my complaint with the BBB. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Not a good experience unfortunately today. I was surprised at the annoyed tone after only a couple short minutes on the phone discussing the potential job. He then got rude to me when I tried to clarify a couple things, making a derogatory comment (to the customer), and then abruptly said "I think I'm just going to pass on this one". It wasn't even about prices or quotes or travel distance, nothing of that sort. I've been in business and customer service for 20 years and the customer should not feel or be handled that way. If you did want to end the call, for whatever reason, there are polite ways of doing that without being rude and dismissive. And by the way, this is the only negative review I have ever posted on Yelp, just to make that point. read more

Tim saved my ass on a Saturday when all other shops were closed. My starter on my 04 Accord crapped out on me but this guy came to the rescue and had me up and running in under an hour. He has the expertise and tools to do most repairs, and really offers a great value when considering the convenience and quality of work provided. If it wasn't for him, I would of had to get my car towed from my house to the shop on Monday, because the AAA guy told me once I shut off my car I wouldn't be able to get it started again (this is after we got the car to start after 50+ tries). Tim is young, immature and is not committed to customer service, customer loyalty or the integrity of his business. Rather than use fluorescent dye and a black light to determine the true source of a leak, he guessed "based on my driveway" and guessed wrong. He could have won my business for a lifetime by stepping up and making this right but opted to cut his losses and get cocky with me and move on to his next job. This appears to be a common thread with his other bad Yelp reviews, read them all carefully with special attention to his replies as well. I should have paid closer attention. I went with this company because of all of the positive reviews and great overall rating. I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews and Tim's comments in reply to them. I called Tim for a sudden leak in a vehicle I've had for several years. He gave me a diagnosis of a trans pan gasket leak. He gave a $200 quote for a trans flush, gasket and new filter screen. Upon completion, he said I also have a small leak at my power steering pump, but in the next days, I could see my original leak was unchanged. When I told him it was still leaking the same, that the original leak was unchanged, he offered to change the power steering pump and flush for an additional $240. I explained that his diagnosis of the trans pan had to be a misdiagnosis and that the $200 I paid had no effect on the original leak. He offered to replace the pump for $40 plus the cost of the part. He was not willing to admit it was a wrong diagnosis, that my van had more than one leak. I was willing to accept the cost of the parts and fluid on the trans pan job, though it was not the problem I needed fixed, and was willing to pay for the new power steering pump. I said I called him for a leak, I paid $200 for his expertise to fix it, and it was unchanged. I made the analogy that if I was a roofer, and he called me about a leak, I charged him $200 but the leak was unchanged, how could I expect to charge more for labor to repair the original leak? At this point he decided he did not want to do business with me anymore with this message: "No disrespect but you called me, a licensed professional. And this is how the business goes you cannot be 100% sure 100% of the time then I would be smarter than Einstein. Therefore you cannot compare roofing to auto mechanics the principles are not as simple, so please don't try and justify a something that you do not understand that is why you called me. I made a diagnosis and that's what I believed what was leaking and then I had mentioned that your power steering is also leaking. We need time to see if the leaking has continued. So that's when you call us back because the problem persisted, and we fix it for what it cost, we need customer feedback to help us diagnose better. To be 100% honest with you, I would respectfully prefer not to do business with you anymore" It doesn't take an "Einstein" to take appropriate steps, like use of fluorescent dye and a black light to determine the true source of a leak, to eliminate guessing and ensure a job done right the first time. If he is wrong, based on my experience and those of the negative Yelp reviews, he will simply choose not to do business with you and move on. read more

I don't usually write reviews here on Yelp. But Tims Mobile Mechanix really impressed me. My car suddenly stopped working on my way home from work. The car's engine was shaking and would shut down every 3 minutes. Most of the shops around my work were already closed. So I gave Tim a call and after 30 minutes, Tim was there and started diagnosing my car's problem. He said one of my coils we're bad, spark plugs and had a coolant hose leak. Luckily autozone was still open so we had a chance to grab the parts we needed to get the car running again. After a couple of hours wrenching and fixing Tim and Johnny changed my coil, spark plugs and the coolant hose leak. Got home safely and car working perfectly. I'm really impressed with Tim's and Johnny's work. - Professional - On time - Fast - Knowledgeable - Experienced - Have the right tools I will definitely recommend them to anyone and will give them a call again if I have a problem with any of my cars. My muffler came loose while I was driving over a speed bump. The muffler was dragging under the car and caused loud noises. The car was undriveable. Found Tim on Yelp & gave him a call to schedule an appointment. He arrived early and diagnosed the problem. He used a wire hanger to attach the muffler to the car which alleviated most of the noise it was causing, made the car driveable and referred a local mechanic that welds not too far away. My call was considered a local service call & because he thought he really didn't have anything to fix he did not charge me a service call fee. Definitely one of the best & honest mechanics I have ever worked with. Two of our cars had different issues (CX-9 & Passat). Called around to get price quotes and appointments at different shops, what a mistake that was!! I had forgotten how shady most auto shops can be. I don't think this guy is licensed. He had to come back 5 times for his own mistakes. Each time he was more than 2 hours late for the appointment, never even letting me know nor apologized for making me wait. He tried to convince me the car was fixed when in reality the car wasn't safe to drive at all. I risked my own life trusting this "mechanic." My car wasn't drivable for over a month until I finally went to another mechanic. It was very stressful dealing with this mechanic, and it was a complete waste of time. read more

Many calls to my dealer and other mechanics who were Quoting me huge prices to come out or tow it (not to mention listening to automated operators to get directed to the right dept) Tim answered right away and he knew right away what it was. Monday morning I started my car and went to put it in reverse and could not get it out of park. Not a good start to the day. Did some checking online and everything pointed to the shift interlock latch was broken. Called a few placed to explain the situation and was told I needed to bring the car in so they could check it out further. Fearing of getting hosed for a large repair bill I held off and checked Yelp to see if I could find an honest and reliable mechanic. Saw Tim's Mobile Mechanix and the 20 plus positive reviews. I am one who is skeptical of the reviews in that these could be friends just helping out, but when I saw the high number of positive reviews I decided to give Tim a call. Called Tim and explained the situation. He had me check on thing first and after telling him the results he was pretty certain the issue is what I expected, the shift interlock latch had to be replaced. I was able to order the part and have it delivered on Tuesday so I set an appointment with Tim for Wednesday at 12pm. I wasn't going to be home but my wife was. She said he was very nice, on time, and about an hour later called and told me everything was set. Total labor cost = $40. Add to the cost of the part ($35) and I paid as much as I would have paid for one hour of labor at any other shop. In the end I am very impressed with my first dealings with Tim's Mobile Mechanix and would recommend him anytime. Finally an honest mechanic. Keep up the great work!! read more

If I have to sum up my review on Tim's Mobile Mechanix I would have to say "On time, great service, reasonable price." The Car Problem: I had a bad alternator that was overcharging my car battery. Tried to do it myself but didn't have the right tools for it so I gave Tim a call and scheduled the work the next morning. Tim and his co-worker Johnny arrived right on time (around 10am) and got out the bad alternator and replaced it with a new one within 45min. My car is running great again thankfully! See the convenience with this service is that they come to you. It saved me the hassle of towing my car, going to a repair shop, and waiting at a boring waiting room for hours. I don't normally write reviews on yelp or anywhere at all but it seems like I owe it to these guys for doing such a great job. They are easy to talk to and you get a feel that they are experts at what they do. I also liked that they were on time, arriving before the scheduled appointment. As far as the work done, it was finished quickly and it was a quality job. If you think a Mobile Mechanic might be more expensive, it's not true. BEWARE!!! After reading the reviews here at YELP, I thought I found a gold mine. So I called Tim an made an appt right away, the time and date was set. Then after an hour of waiting I got worried maybe he got lost or something happened to him. So I texted and called his cell phone, just to find out what happened, no answer back. Just communicate please and don't leave a potential customer hanging. You can at least say, you're busy, you can deny service, something, anything, so that customers are not left to make their own conclusion to what kind of a mechanic you are. Just used Tim's service today and I highly recommend it. Called another mobile mechanic first for my van and the guy sounded half asleep, at 10am! He said it would cost a fee just to come out and take a look at it then an additional fee for the repairs. I called Tim and he was here by 11:20 and finished by 11:45. Total charge was less than what the other guy was charging just to come out, and a lot less than going to an actual mechanic. Efficient, cheap and got the job done.
