This man works magic. After a long night of drinking one of my good friends lost his key. He had lost his spare a long time ago. This was on a Sunday so most places were closed and we needed this done quickly. We called a buncha places. After being quoted a crazy amount from the car dealership as well as other lock smiths my father referred me here. He came over straight to the spot where the car was super quick and finished the job working 30 minutes. He made a new key and programmed the chip in about 45 minutes. Great customer service and very fair. This was only my second visit, and I had forgotten that there was a $20 minimum charge on credit cards. Tin was kind enough to allow me to come back at a later time to pay him the $5 I owed him for keys, but I managed to find $4.25 in loose change and he was still kind enough to waive the rest of the fees. He's like a nerdy locksmith who knows his stuff. he may do mobile service too, but i usually see him sitting at this location. he has rebuilt a car ignition lock, copied a simple house key, and copied a chipped key for us. so far so good! its better to use OEM, (which he usually has) so if you're not too tight for money and want something that'll last you longer, spend the extra money on OEM. Came here on a Saturday morning to have an older Lexus key cut because the shell on my key cracked and the blade broke off. I purchased a replacement shell and blank blade from Amazon and asked a Lexus dealer if they could cut it for me. The Lexus dealer actually refused saying that they can only cut keys that you purchase from them and that it would cost almost $100. I politely declined and left the dealer. I then came to Tin and they were able to cut the key with no problems for a fraction of the cost. Never go to the dealer to get keys cut. I guess they don't care about that service since they are taking your money on mechanical repairs and the sales of cars. Good news for Tin then. read more

I broke my key in the passenger door awhile back and decided to just keep it in there since I knew the dealership would charge a lot. I definitely wasn't wrong as the dealership quoted me $450 to make a new key + to remove the broken key (they said they might have to charge more depending on the difficulty). So I decided to turn to Yelp and found this little nifty place. They ended up charging me only $50 for a spare key to be made AND only $10 to remove the old key (no extra costs if it would be more difficult than planned!). They finished the job within 20 minutes which includes the time which they were helping others make house keys. HIghly recommended! read more

Awesome service. Recently bought a dead lock for my front door, needed 8 keys to be made. After I got the keys made, only 2 out of the 8 would work. Brought it back and had them retouch it, same problem. Turns out, it wasn't their fault, but the brand new dead bolt i bought was bad. After i replaced the deadbolt, they made 8 new keys, and it worked flawlessly. Throughout the whole experience they never gave me a hard time or tried to brush me off like a nuisance. This place deserved 1000 stars for sure. I don't know if the guy came to fix our locks is Tin or not, but he is absolutely so professional, friendly and kind. We got locked out because our entry door's lock was broken. While on his way to our home, he called to assure us that he was coming, so don't worry. He came, replaced the lock, which is the one that very very hard to find (longer than 5 inches). He replaced them, and fix our keys also (to avoid using too many keys for both security door & entry door.) He did everything very very fast, pro, and convenient. He also was very funny and polite. we were absolutely very very pleased with the services he provided. We will definitely save his phone number & recommend him to everybody and anybody. read more

Very very happy with their business today. I went there with a word-of-mouth referral I received from a car dealer who sold me a used 2011 Toyota Sienna with only 1 set of keys. I obviously wanted to get a spare key made just in case. To give you a general idea, the gentleman at Tin Locksmiths made me an extra set of keys (both remote and transponder key cutting & programming) for FIVE times less than the cost that Toyota dealers quoted me. Moreover, he was so proficient in his job (with all the electronic tools required for programming) that he was done in less than 5 minutes! He seemed very honest and down-to-earth person. Have a scion xa, initially went to the Key Shop on Westminster and Edwards. The American there was nice, trying hard to copy my no-chip master key three times, oiling the trunk lock, twisting the Key hard to make it turn, wiggling it back and forth. The master key always easily unlocked and locked the trunk and all doors, but the Key Shop's 3 copies did not and that guy could only refer to another locksmith on Trask and Beach, who's never in. Got irritated, held off a few months, sought another locksmith. Dropped by Tins today. He didn't even need to look at the 3 bad duplicates, only the keys I wanted duplicated. Gave him the scion xa master key and a Honda civic. In less than three minutes, both were copied, work perfectly like the original, and $4 each. Examining Tins key versus the 3 Key Shop keys, Tins cut is crisp and angular - width and height of the ridges match the original. The other 3 by the other locksmith, rounded, just slightly off. Quotes a Scion tc remote fob for $140. Says no issues copying anything. read more
