Don't call unless you want to be hustled, charged way too much, and threatened. The legitimate business with the 4+ stars may have closed after COVID-19. All the positive reviews were from months ago. Recently it's been all 1 stars. My experience: I called for an estimate, the guy on the phone was very nice and said he'd have somebody come by to give me the quotes after checking in on my needs in person. Sound reasonable. The guy comes in a few hours later, spends 5 minutes looking around, and quotes me $600 to change three locks. He claims commercial locks are more expensive. I tell him that is too much and that I'll call back if I want it done. He says there's a $29 consultation fee (first time I heard that), or I pay $600 to change the locks. I refuse to pay anything, because I never agreed to those prices. He calls his boss who gives the same outrageous pricing. He asks me what price i like... After a few minutes, they threaten to call the cops. I say thank you and walk away. He leaves 10 minutes later. The next two places I call give free estimates, and I end up paying less than 1/3 of the $600 for what I need and much much better service. read more

Quick Fast service I broke my key in my door so I had to take the lock apart and pry the end with teeth out... I knew it was a long shot but I tried anyways I brought it into Home Depot and they wasted 4 keys trying to help me make one, I didn't have to pay for the keys but I still felt bad they tried really hard to get me a full copy of my half end Went to THIS AWESOME PLACE DLS LOCKSMITH and he opened early for me by 5 minutes and got me in and out in 2 minutes. He explained to me why all the keys at home Depot didn't work, they weren't using the correct type of key to make mines, told me to be careful because if the person making your key doesn't have a clue as to what type and kind I'd have been wasting my money had they made me pay for the mess ups He was very knowledgeable and showed me the different types !! I called for a quote to unlock a front door, he said $29 service fee and could be $60-70 starting, which included the $29. Then he came and charged me $185. I asked if he would do it for $100, he said no. So I gave him the $29 and called someone else read more

The guy is kinda funny in that he doesn't stress customer service. He doesn't say "hi, how are you?" or even acknowledge you as you look around the shop sometimes. However he is extremely good at what he does, has all the unique keys that the big name stores like Home Depot and Walmart don't even know exist, and doesn't waste your time. Is prices are great and honestly I don't know how he makes money but I will continue to go to him for all my locksmith needs. I accidentally locked myself out of the house and he came to the rescue in the morning before other businesses were even open. His price was cheaper than others I called. And he came out right away (20 min from where I live). He got me into my house. And I requested him to re-key a lock since he was already there for a small fee. And he noticed my deadbolt was a lil wobbly and mis-aligned so he fixed it no extra charge. He even helped my neighbor who had a wobbly door handle w no charge. Give this small business owner a try. He definitely got the job done at a reasonable price. He went above and beyond and obviously takes pride in a job well done. read more

Just had my car's ignition key lock fixed. They do great job cheaper and faster than the car dealers. My old car key was getting sticky everyday and eventually stopped working. The ignition was stuck in drive position although I turned engine off and force pulled the key out. After consulting over the phone, I followed my mechanic's recommendation to check with a lock smith. Dls clearly gave me an estimate cost and the time it will take in advance, and did the job as promised.. I am very satisfied and will bring another old car to get fixed. No more worry about being stuck somewhere because the car key would not turn. read more

Unscrupulous, unprofessional and sloppy - [ ] We called them for a quote to install the entry door lock and they said it's about $65.00 and up depends on the complication of the lock. The tech showed up and told us that it would be $175.00. I told him that's too much for just a deadlock. He asked how much can I pay. I did not like the way he jacked up the fee and haggling it down. I told him that we don't want to do it. He lowered the fee to $100.00. Since my husband already took out the old lock, I agree to the fee. After he finished installing the lock about 45min., the metal dust box was laying around, I asked him to install it. He told me that he had to charge me extra for it. I also noticed there was a piece of plastic sticking out of the latch and it could fall out anytime. I asked him what it was. He told me that plastic piece holding the latch together. I never see any lock with plastic piece but I trusted him. After he left, as I put the left over screws away, I found a package of two tiny screws that could fit in place of the plastic piece. Sure enough, it fitted. In my opinion, this company or their tech is unprofessional, sloppy and try to make a quick buck without care for their customers. Not recommend to others. read more

Locksmiths. An old tradition that is a necessity and has followed the food truck trend for restaurants. There are so many mobile locksmiths in Southern California that it makes me very weary about using them. There is something to say about having an actual location with a full liability coverage, while having to output a certain level of work performance to pay all that. Remember it's your security they're working on. When using mobile services I personally use the ones that are attached to a physical commercial address. I've tried many that were not in the past due to the request of my clients or investors and it's like a crap shoot. Many overall work out, but their work seems lacking. For instance, the lock mechanism is not fluid or the key does not work as well as it should (even with a re-visit). But back to DLS Locksmith. I've used them several times for home locks and copying commercial keys and have not had any issues. I've never used his mobile service since I brought the work into his small location. The locksmith is a very nice and honest man and does the work right there and quickly. A huge plus for me when dealing with door locks that need to be done ASAP. The pricing is fair but not comparable with some of those fly-by-night dirt cheap mobile services, but longevity and an actual location is worth my peace of mind. Again, dealing with some mobile services has caused some costly issues that was not worth playing the guessing game of "are they...reliable...". Why a 3 Star? Because at my go-to locations I get a little bit better pricing, larger staff, and I can't give 1/2 Star to be a 3 1/2 Stars. And seeing that I haven't tried his mobile service is another reason, which could bring him to a 4 Star. read more

I lived in Westminster for many years and needed a key but didn't want to spend what other companies were charging. I found this place driving around and decided to try him out. Reasonable price for a key. Months later I had a key that no one carried, a cheap Chinese lock but I needed an extra key. I took it to him and he immediately knew what it was for. He made the key. I took it home and it didn't work on the lock so I came back with the lock and he looked at it and smiled. He apologized and said oh cheap Chinese lock, let me check it again. He adjusted the key and bingo it worked. Had him make 2 more just in case I lost the original key. Another time I had a lock for a cabinet that needed a key that also no one carried, you'd think by now I'd learn my lesson not to buy cheap locks, anyways I brought the lock and the key it came with. He adjusted the lock and made me two more keys for it. I keep coming to him because he knows his locks and if friendly. He doesn't try to peddle bull crap on how the "lock is cheap" and "there are no keys for it", etc., like other locksmiths I've gone to. He sees the lock, see's the key and makes it for you at a reasonable price. Can't say enough good things about this establishment!! read more
