Super cool place! Had some good beers, a cool outside area, and an interesting selfless tour through brewery! Very laid back atmosphere!

I'm not a beer drinker, so I've only been here a few times when we've found ourselves in Hermann and I'm with beer drinkers. In typical brewery fashion, they don't have much for the non-beer drinkers, which is totally their prerogative, but it would be nice if I could order something other than a sleeve of ritz crackers and a block of cheddar cheese or some stale nachos. It's a very casual atmosphere, and has a nice rustic feel, but I've been to plenty of other breweries that are a bit more inviting. It's always a good chance to socialize, but I wouldn't come back if I wasn't already tagging along. read more

We had a delicious dinner-ribeye and salmon-fresh veggies and salad! Service was great-wine superb!

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but the overall feel of this brewery was great. Their was a (very) small self-guided tour which was fun & lots of outdoor seating. I split the sampler and didn't care for many of the beers. read more

We stopped into the Tin Mill Brewing Company when we got into town on Monday and we were pleased with our choices. We shared a hamburger and fries that was absolutely delicious and filling. The fries were crispy just how we like them, too. However, the best was the Midnight Whistle, a full bodied dark beer. It was simply wonderful. We will be sure to stop in the next time we are in Hermann. read more

Service was slow and server was not very friendly. She forgot my side of mayo, which is fine but when I asked for it it again she brought ranch after 10 minutes. We then asked for ketchup for our fries which she forgot to bring on her next trip back over with the mayo I originally asked for and then never checked on us again. We stopped by to grab a drink before dinner. The service was absolutely terrible. When we first arrived we were one of the only 3 tables in the place. We asked for a sample of beer and the bartender ignored us and would only tell us information about the beer that was listed on the menu. I ordered a Pilsner but was served a sour Pilsner but didn't even know that existed. I went back in to order another round and the bartender was handing out samples to people now. Apparently only some people are allowed samples. I went to go close my tab and the bartender asked what I needed. I told him I just needed to close my tab and he went on and asked someone else what they needed. I waited another 15 minutes for him to come back and he finally closed my tab so I could leave. Tin Mill was amazing. We had the Bavarian pretzel with Beer cheese and the fried mushrooms. Both were amazing but I preferred the Bavarian pretzel. The Beer cheese was the best I have ever had. Excellent food, reasonable prices, genuine, friendly staff, which equally matches the genuine kind demeanor of your typical country town person, by which I mean no offense as I am one, and miss such an atmosphere, living & working in a larger city. The wait, if a little long, is not all that long, always arriving early enough to beat the crowds, which still does not overwhelm you as some other restaurants, which do not compare. Appetizers and main courses are very amazing, as other establishments either have one or the other that are good, and/or only focuses on. I have not tried the alcohol, (not one to drink), yet know they are putting out great quality as they do with the food, again not just focusing on that. I HIGHLY recommend eating here. read more

Good food and beer when we finally got it. Apparently we greatly inconvenienced our waitress, Kim, by coming in and having her do her job. Beer and side salad took 30+ min. Had to ask 2x for ice tea. Refills? Forget about it. Although the table next to us, apparently the waitress's friends, had no problem and they got refills easily. Unlike its restaurant counterpart, this brewery is great! They had a fantastic selection and a reasonably priced flight. I'm not a fan of wheat beer but theirs was fantastic! They also had a tasty gin and tonic on tap. The pizza was meh, pretty typical bar food options, but they're often out of stuff. The bartender was kind and knowledgeable. This is one of the nicer places to go for sampling some micro-brewed beers and German food. There are a lot of great beers and their German food was really tasty as well and almost...almost reminded me of some of the things my grandma used to make when I was a kid. No one can top her's, but this was pretty good. I like that they are promoting a number of other local products. It's great to see how Tin Mill and a number of other businesses are investing to keep Hermann a great place to visit. read more

Food was good. We had had the roast beef sandwiches. They're were fresh and tasty. Surprised they were out of potato salad at lunchtime. But that was just the opener. Service was painfully slow. The food here is atrocious. The drinks were miserable. The server did her best. Avoid it like the plague. We got our salads before we got our drinks. My old fashioned had maraschino cherry juice poured in it - it looked like kool-aid. The food was poorly executed and not good quality. What a fantastic little find in Herman!! Food was delicious - super quaint little place. Authentic old grain mill made for a very unique atmosphere. The lemon blueberry marscapone cake was fantastic! Mushrooms and ravioli apps were on point!! read more

This place was a lot of fun. We started off with a beer sampler. Some was good and some wasn't so good but that's kind of what we expected. The Skyscraper and the Red Caboose were very good. I also had a bottle of the Oktoberfest which was good too. I didn't care for the wheat beer but I don't like the taste of cloves, which was the dominant flavor in this beer. They have a bunch of board games, card games and dominos available to play. We ended up sitting drinking pints and playing Yahtzee. The atmosphere was very relaxed. There's a beer hall in the basement where I witnessed two older ladies playing beer pong. Awesome! My only compliant was there was only one bartender and she was overwhelmed. The place was busy and the poor lady was doing her best to keep up but you ended up standing at the bar for a long time when you needed a beer. We will definitely go back. Very cool place. read more

We were there on Oct 18th. We got into town kinda late, around 1:30 pm, and were ready for lunch. We didnt want to wait the hour and a half for indoor seating so we chose the grab and go option for lunch. The sandwiches were cold, the bums were wet and the beer was not very cold. We had 3 pulled pork, one brat, 4 bags of chips and 3 beers and the tab with tip was $83.00. Talk about price gouging. Tin Mill should be ashamed but im sure they are not. read more

My new wife and I stopped into the Tin Mill while on our honeymoon. When I say stopped by, I mean that we were rained in there during a thunderstorm and had to drink our way through the afternoon. It was an incredible time. The sampler platter at Tin Mill is reasonably priced and you are given a considerable sample of each type. My personal favorite was their dark Midnight beer (I forget the exact name). I enjoyed it so much a bought a jug and took it with us for the rest of the trip. I found all of the beers quite tasty. They tasted exactly how you would expect such a small microbrewery's beer to taste. Very flavorful and a lot of hops but quite enjoyable. I found the service incredibly friendly as we talked to the very pregnant bartender for most of the afternoon. We took the self-guided tour and learned a lot about the brewery's history and beer-making process. Honestly, it's one of the most interesting spots in the Hermann area and I would rather spend an afternoon there than any winery. I highly recommend Tin Mill. read more

Lovely little spot to have a bite to eat and enjoy some of the Hermannof wines. Their Californian grown Cabernet Sauvignon under the name Star Lane isn't bad but overpriced. Their dry rosé is perfect for a hot summer day. I deducted a star because they have two different prices for their bottles of wine. I think it's ridiculous to charge $4-$8 more for a bottle of wine to consume on their premises and getting a discount if you buy the bottle "to-go". It shouldn't matter to them where I drink it, the price should be the price. read more

The rest tasted like Bud Light except the First Street which was the absolute worse combination with clove as an ingredient. It literally tasted like someone fermented Grandma's Christmas ham. Last meal of the trip and wasn't even work the 1 star!! Got to the restaurant about 12 pm and were the 2nd or 3rd people seated. We got our drinks and the shortly after they took our order. There were 6 of us we order 2 burgers 2 chicken sandwiches 1 shrimp poboy and 1 prime rib sandwich. After we ordered the lunch crowd started coming in. We had waited about 30 mins and people who came in after started getting their food first. After 45 mins of waiting for lunch we asked the waitress how much long and she said our table was next. After we continued to wait we finally asked another waitress and she said she would go check the kitchen. After that our waitress came out and rudely told us we had to wait because she put all the orders in at once and so we were the last of her section. When we said well we were one of the first people here she said well everyone put their order in together so that is why we are last. Let me remind you we placed our food order before most of the people were seated. She said our order was placed at 12:30. So we waited and right before we got up to leave food came out at 1:30ish. We had to wait an hour for LUNCH. When we got the food the food wasn't even anything special. Just like you typical bar food. Will not be going back. The food was good, the service was not. We had the beirkase for an appetizer, followed by the French dip sandwich and the goulash. The beirkase was delicious, as were our main dishes. The service was mediocre at best. We waited 10 minutes with the hostess ignoring us before we were even acknowledged past telling her there were two of us. I visited Tin Mill Brewing on a Thursday evening and requested a flight. When I asked for a very small taste (NOT a sample size) of a beer, I was refused by the female server. I ordered my flight regardless and ended up not liking, nor drinking, the beer in which I had requested the taste. Upon leaving the establishment, I asked the manager why they did not offer tastes (literally, a foam taste) of beer. His reply was that "no one does that..." He must not ever leave Hermann, because all microbreweries across the entire United States offer a taste, as good service, to their customers who request one. The manager was very rude and made this customer feel completely unappreciated. I will never visit this brewery again after the way that I was treated. It is very sad that they lost a customer who merely asked for a sip of foam before they made their beer selection. read more

Every time I go through Hermann we stop by to purchase a growler. The man that works at the bar on a regular basis is always more than polite and goes above and beyond to make sure I love the brew I'm taking home. read more

It was our first visit to Hermann and Tin Mill. We arrived just after it opened. Kevin and a lady were very rude and unprofessional to us. We were over charged and yelled it. We will never return. The pizza seemed to be a frozen pizza out of a box. The order was wrong. We were asking about different types of beers and Kevin seemed annoyed by our questions. I asked another couple outside how they felt and it was pretty much the same. They were overcharged as well. read more

Can't say that I'm a beer drinker, but my husband really enjoys the brewery. He'd probably give it 4 stars, but since I usually have to tag along and am the one writing the review, I get my say. There isn't much for the non-beer drinker like at other breweries. They have frozen pizzas. That's about it. It is usually fun to see what they've done with the place since last being there though.
