I've been going here since it opened...I'm Asian so I have to say I love love love love this place...if you're super hungry after coin-starring it up at stop n shop and going on a big shopping spree at Dollah Tree and A.J. wright across the street, then this is the place for you...!!! recently they have added a few new items to their menu and it's fabulous...if you are starving and don't want to wait for food and need something hot and yummy pronto, this is the best place to go... there are the typical "fake" chinese food items: crab rangoons (which are the bbbbbbbest here), fried chicken, spareribs, eggrolls, fried rice, lo-mein, soups, etc, but there's also fruit, icecream, french fries, salmon, pizza, and fresh veggies... the bathroom always freaks me out but hey for good, cheap food, i can deal. the waiters are super nice too. so tip well! read more

Tin Tin Buffet is comparable to Two-Face from Batman. One face is tons of delicious food. Everything is fried and tasty. The rice is delicious, the crab rangoons are stuffed with cream cheese, and the general tsos/gaus chicken is out of this freaking world. Not to mention it costs 7 bucks a person for lunch and 10 for dinner. Not bad. Then there's the other face.. It is probably the least healthy food in Boston and I don't doubt for a second that Mike W. threw up in the parking lot after eating there. Don't forget about the typical Chinese buffet waitresses. They stare at you throughout the whole meal, don't give you drink refills, then get bitchy when you write 'BRING MORE DRINKS' in the tip slot of the bill (true story.) Also cheap food like this tends to bring out the worst people you can find. It's kind of like a Wal-Mart in that sense. Nonetheless, we went there three times in a week after we found out how tasty it was. I came here because I had a strong craving for chinese food for about a month now, but I didnt just want take out Chinese food, I wanted all you can eat buffet style. Now this buffet was truly all you can eat. However, the food was of extremely poor quality. I mean the boy who took me out lost his appetite immediately after eating that poor excuse for rice. The spring roll I took tasted like pure dirt, I believe that was the dough they used in combination with old oil. Even the dessert tasted bad (and I love sweets). When I got close to the fruits they smelled rotten. The silverware was filthy, they serve you with forks at the table but my fork had a crusty piece of food on it like their dishwasher didn't clean it effectively or like the dishwasher could use a tuneup. Either way somehow I stayed and stuck to the fried chicken and french fries with sweet red sauce. There were Asians smoking outside blocking customers from coming in which I felt was unprofessional, they should monitor that stuff. The waitress didn't even wait on us, she just gave us our drinks in the beginning and left us until I had to ask her for the check, she then took our mountain of plates. I ran out of sprite and had to drink my friend's coke (which tasted flat), she never thought to check to see if I needed another drink, or offer to remove plates after watching me go for seconds and thirds. The bathroom wasn't the worst I've seen but definitely not the best. One of the stalls had a door missing and I walked in on an Asian lady who I apologized to but I don't think she understood me. I just wanted some toilet paper to blow my nose because they were skimpy on napkins. The place was so old and run down the seats in the booths were ripping and the stuffing was coming out. The seats at the tables were mix-matched like they just took random seats from anywhere and brought them in. I'm not trying to be petty but at least look professional and have consistency. The pictures were faded and the place was so dark I was just turned off. Maybe it was dark so they could hide their filth. This place is only good if you're a desperate college kid like me, or just wanna grab a random bite with your homies, but I will never be back because I don't do poor quality and filth. My last time here a month ago. Times do change, here not for the better. I used to eat here a lot 5-6 years ago with friends twice to three times a month, good solid tasty food. Tried to avoid Sundays for unsupervised kids playing in the food. Later I worked very close by, food still ok. NOW just so bad, tons of sodium lack of flavor. So bad I tried a second sample plate and really felt like there was no point continuing my attempt to prove to my friend I took that this place was EVER good. Based on the reviews that i've read thus far im guessing that most of you guys haven't been to any REAL good buffet style restuarants your entire llife because the nonsense that some of yall have written is making me question some of your taste. I will start with the few good things about this place.......the location is very easy to get to and thats about it!!! lol oh sorry if you thought that there were going to be more good things to say i lied!! lol Now the minute i walked in i was far from impressed but i decided to reserve all judgements until i actually tried the food. You can't be super picky because the food is not going to taste like food you would find in Chinatown, but it tastes like decent chinese food you'd find at any chinese restaurant. This place is my all time favorite! I love the all you can eat crab rangoons. I think they're to die for! I dream about the night and day and sometimes i catch myself drooling in my sleep. Newsflash: Tin Tin is a dumpy Chinese Buffet. If you blind yourself to this fact, even with the obvious signs - the 1970's hotel function hall appearance, the $7 lunch buffet, the fact that there is frozen pizza in a steam tray next to the Lo Mein - you have not only missed the point entirely, but you will be let down. Tin Tin isn't fine dining, nor does it give a hang about your poor, belabored intestines after it's finished with you. Tin Tin exists purely because it is cheap and you can stuff yourself until you resemble a bean bag chair more than a human being. Food? It's not good. But is there enough of it to put you into some form of coma. Given the fact that Tin Tin has takeout by the pound, and for as realistically low as it's pricing can go, should be a major point as of to what they're trying to do here. Tin Tin is quantity, not quality - and this is clear as day. Go here expecting exactly the type of Chinese buffet the price will get you. Go here while under the influence of mind-altering substances. Go here when you're so daggone hungry, you'll eat whatever is in front of you. I was initially scared to try this place because of all the negative reviews, but the deal was too good to pass up ($10.45/per person for buffet). I have to say, I'm glad I took the chance! As long as you know what you're getting into here (Chinese buffet food, nothing fancy), you should be very happy. They have all the usuals like beef/broccoli, egg rolls, fried rice, General Tso's chicken, and much, much more. Everything tasted great, and there's a fruit/salad bar and plenty of American food like pizza/fries for people who don't like Chinese food. The staff was good, the restaurant was clean (didn't use the restroom so can't attest for that though), and I would be happy to go there again. I was really worrying about the food quality after reading tons of hates about this place at first. So far I've been there three times and I should say it is overall a good place for fake Chinese food buffet. I like the coconut shrimp, seafood delight and teriyaki chicken. Tin Tin, is not a place I'd take a date if I was trying to impress them. After a walk through the blistering heat, I admit I was not in the best mood but none the less, upon arrival, my appetite was not tempted by the atmosphere in the least. The space is large and able to cater to large parties with little trouble (we were a party of 11) but that, in my mind is it's only redeeming quality. The building was filthy. Stained carpets and ceiling. The bathrooms were appalling, the urine fumes in the Ladies room were particularly pungent. The food was mediocre, it was basic Chinese food, hard to really mess up. Though it looked quite unappetizing. I resigned to eat some of the over cooked and dry veg fried rice, and the spring rolls. It wasn't bad. All in all, I don't plan to return simply because of it's atmosphere. If they'd clean up a bit it'd be tolerable for me but honestly I don't recommend it. No matter how cheap it is. read more

I used to live around the corner and ate here very often. Got to know everyone by name, and they treated me like a special friend there, occasionally making little treats just for me. The people are very nice! This is one of the larger selection buffet style restaurants around, and predates the Golden Corral/OCB joints by years. Lunch here is under $10 + tip, and Dinner is under $15 + tip. Please tip!!! Honestly, let's get some negatives out of the way, and staff know what they are, so this is not hurtful. The place is threadbare. From the wearing out casino style carpeting to the wobbly tables, things could use a shot of money thrown at them. The booth seats are cut up and have duct tape on them, probably because a lot of kids go in there because of the price. The men's room is sorta yucky, but they do try to keep it clean and at closing use a copious amount of industrial cleaner in it. It is usually well stocked. They try to keep the buffet islands and floor clean, but when it's very busy, at say 7:30 in the evening, they are trying to just keep up. Because of the fixed price, it's popular for event dinners, so graduations, birthdays and the like go there, and the place can be suddenly overwhelmed with a party of 30 or 40 people which can be noisy, too. Staff are actually very nice. Pretty much all in their 20s, they are recent immigrants and eagerly are studying english while working 6 days a week here. Cut them some slack for that. They are actually Chinese people working there. A little patience while talking with them can go a long way to having a nicer dining experience. They are mostly students, so every dollar is precious. To them, even if you have 5 or 6 plates of food, a $3 per person tip is decent. The rule of thumb in Buffet restaurants is $1 per plate cleared. Really. The tips IS their income. Waitstaff make pisspoor hourly wages and rely on tips. They are tired of being burned, and so they do remember those who tip decently, which does not need to be lavish. Leaving $2 for a table of four people over an hour and a half is just cruel. They are pretty efficient, they bring your soda/water, replacement flatware or chopsticks as needed, etc. I wish that they would absolutely stop people from returning to the buffet with a used plate. It's illegal, if nothing else, and unhygienic, and it really kinda grosses people out. The food. Gosh this place is very consistent. The food is greasy and very high calorie. I put on weight eating there a lot, so bear that in mind: it's very dense calories. There are a few dishes that people seem to like, and they use some expensive ingredients. There is a seafood noodle dish similar to and called pad-thai that has shrimps and scallops in it. it's greasy but tasty. The lo mein is popular, though it's incredibly typical Hong Kong style dark lo mein. You can drip the grease off of noodles though, and it then makes a decent bed for another dish on top of it. I don't care for the fried rice, and find it very greasy and salty. The food overall is salty, but again, if you aren't living off of it, as a treat, you'll live. The entrees always include some vegetarian options, and the usual selection of appetizer dishes like spare ribs and chicken wings. Their fried chicken wings are just great! Moist, tender and with a nice light coating, but greasy... just like fried chicken should be! There are usually seasonal dishes, sometimes even niceties that you don't see in Boston at all like Crawdads, which they call "little lobsters," it turns out. Those little guys go fast. They often have mussels, a shrimp dish or two, an egg dish, pizza for the kids, spring and egg rolls, both okay if freshly put out, and ditto the Peking Raviolis which are tasty, and the dipping sauce is very rich. There is a condiment area for sauces, including hot pepper paste after i and a few other customers insisted, the dipping sauce for Peking Ravs and sweetsauce, soysauce, sometimes other stuff. There is a very good salad/fruit bar, decent salads, fruits, pudding, jello and then there is the soft-serve ice cream and hot chocolate machines. It's all fresh. There are a couple soups, hot n sour, which is okay, eggdrop and sometimes another. All the hot stuff is salty, most is greasy. Take your time serving and go easy on the "gravy" sauces. There are 16-20 hot dishes plus soups and a dozen in the salad/fruit bar. There are also simple bakery sweets for dessert. For the money, and if you can get past the threadbare environment, it's a great deal and you can eat as good or bad a meal as you choose, and I suggest you do both. There really is not a much better deal anywhere, and with free parking, you just should enjoy it. Just watch out for the grease and you'll do fine and dandy. read more

There's a ton of food, and as people have said before, there's enough of it to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters (which makes me wonder - if you're THAT picky, why are you going to a CHINESE FOOD BUFFET?). Food is perhaps above par, in terms of standard Chinese. It's great that they've got a good mix of vegetables and meats, and that all their food is correctly labeled. I wanted to try Tin Tin even though it's quite a distance away from downtown Boston. I really don't think there's Chinese Buffets in the city other than Arirang House (Korean is kinda close to Chinese). Anyway, there's not a lot I can say about the place that haven't been said ~~ The server that helped us tonight was nice and friendly and enjoyed referring everyone as "boss." The different entrees were kept filled consistently and all of it felt kinda fresh to me except for the American food (like the pizza). The crab rangoon like others have said is really good - there's actually substantial cream cheese in these lil things so I was surprised. The BBQ Roast Pork is some crazy HQ stuff similar to what you might find at Hong Kong Eatery - so I was surprised by that too. The salt and pepper shrimp, if done fresh, should be edible whole including the shell (shell is crunchy and adds to the taste/texture), but since it isn't so fresh, you have to peel it. Big fat wontons, fried chicken, mei fun, and a wide variety of dishes that will satiate anyone's desire for Chinese (except for people who aren't the hugest fan of Chinese Food). I remember going here as a high schooler. Flash forward 10 years to the present. I expected at least some sort of renovation to have been made during that time. That makes way too much sense though: the place is the EXACT SAME, only five times dirtier. The lightbulbs flicker like you're in an old cellar, the carpet has stains on it going back to the Great Leap Forward, and the chicken and pork never makes it past two minutes in the oven. Bottom line: if you like old dirty nasty smelly eateries and enjoy chewing on rubber possibly chicken or possibly pork, then you will absolutely love the Tin Tin Buffet. Why the two stars then? The food was always fresh and hot and tasty and..... then on my last visit I came (first time using the restroom) and it was extremely dirty and digusting. This was everything my friends and I hoped for in a Chinese buffet - lots of choices, lots of tables, lots of interesting people. It has all the typical Chinese American foods that you would expect to find, as well as some other dishes to try out. There was even pizza available - we didn't try it, but it actually looked pretty good. Although it looks slightly sketchy on the outside, on the inside the restaurant is clean, has good quality food (for the price), and good service. It's not fancy by any means (like buffets should be), but it's a great place to go with your friends for a cheap meal. $6.95 for an all-you-can-eat lunch, how can you go wrong? Not sure how to get there by T, but driving is no problem - we easily found a spot in the parking lot. Okay, so it looks like a dump in a sketchy neighborhood. Once you get over that, and actually go in, well, it doesn't get much better- aesthetically speaking. It's just not a pretty place. Scratch all of that, I'm trying to say the place is ghetto, without saying that it's ghetto. However, you don't come here for ambience, you come for the FOOD! My, oh my, there is plenty of that. This is the BIGGEST buffet in town I think. There are enough selections that everyone can find something, it's cheap, and most of it is pretty decent tasting. My friends like the buffet because it has those little sugary fried biscuits/fried dough, and soft serve ice cream. I really like the pepper steak (although it can be a little rubbery at times), and the fried buffalo wings. I always say I'm not going to overeat, but inevitably, I do, and I leave feeling sick. Therefore, I don't come to this place often, but I really like it when I do venture on over. Went back here for dinner for the first time in about 7 years, and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and very good overall taste of the food. At the $10 dinner buffet they have crab legs, a good selection of (mediocre) fruit and soft serve plus some desserts. This is in addition to all the usual suspects at a Chinese buffet. They have very good fried dumplings as well as a BBQ pork that tastes kind of like Korean Kalbi to me (I'm Korean, so my vote counts). Most of the dishes are kind of greasy, but that's to be expected at a place like this. Tin Tin has a pretty good sized parking lot, and lots of seating inside. They have two buffet bars of food (one of them is mainly fried stuff) plus one for salad + fruit + desserts. If you take out in a styrofoam container, they charge you by the pound. Gotta love that. All that being said, this place is not clean at all, and it was hard to enjoy my meal sitting at a sticky table. The bathroom reeks something awful. Like many who have reviewed this, I'm torn between 2 and 4 stars, so I'll compromise with 3. I've experienced better. I'm sort of a fan. In summary: This place is a joke. This would be the most amazing restaurant if you're drunk. Sadly, I've never been drunk while there, but I imagine if I was they would get a solid 5-star rating. The food is what you might expect from a cheaply-priced buffet.. decent, greasy, and not very hot. They have every thing from General Tso's chicken to pizza to mashed potatoes and fried chicken. None of it is outstanding, but all the chicken is pretty good. The staff are friendly and pretty good at taking your plates away and refilling your water, but there's not much else to ask for at a buffet. If you are hungry and after a cheap meal, this is the place to go. For $9 you can choose from a whole selection of Americanize Chinese food and some American food. There is even a small selection of seafood. There are numerous better buffets around the Boston area, but we were starving... and this was the closest one. Don't expect anything to be clean. Also, The place is packed and very hectic on the weekends. I wouldn't come back here too often... because the atmosphere is really bad. Check it out... you'll leave full. At Tin Tin, quantity compensates for a slight dip in quality, but this doesn't mean that the food is not good. It's actually pretty decent, and normally I'd give it 3 stars. More than half my take out box is still full because the meat parts I got were mostly chewy skin (not in a good way) and the broccoli spears I normally like taste faintly of mold. Amazingly great value for the price! Remember, it's basic "take out" Chinese but as a buffet setting and you can't beat the price. I like that they don't over salt - some other reviews have started it's bland, but I actually prefer it - low salt and you flavor if needed (but I like it as is). Our new fav spot! read more
