We went to Tin Tin Buffet - exactly as expected. No surprises. I ate a full plate of green beans and a full plate of plantains. Yum yum in my tum. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was as expected!!

TLDR: the Chinese buffet of your dreams. Everyone has had the classic Chinese buffet experience of American Chinese classics plus slightly weird western/Italian food with classic buffet decor. Yeah this is it. Tin tin is its own slice of history and I'm sure in the next ten years this spot will be torn down for a new apartment complex but until then enjoy this relic of the past.

This felt kind of in the middle of nowhere so location isn't great, but we went for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't bad. The price was $16.95/person which isn't as cheap as it used to be, but it wasn't terrible. If it was $2 cheaper, I might have actually given it 4 stars. There were 4 islands set up, so there was a fair variety of food. We were happy to see that they had seafood for lunch and that there were a good amount of customers, which ended up meaning that the food got turned over at least once per dish while we were there. While it didn't look great at first, the quality of some of the items actually was pretty good. Dumplings - These are great - the skin is nice and thin and the meat is large and chunky. The skin is almost a bit chewy and crispy and has a really good texture. Crab Rangoons - I didn't actually eat one of these, but we get takeout from here a lot and these are pretty good. Nice and crispy with a good ratio of filling. Cajun Seafood - This was surprisingly very good. I had shrimp, crawfish, and mussels from here. Halfway through our meal, they refilled this dish and the shrimp and mussels that they added were huge. It didn't taste off at all which is a fear at buffets, and it was actually quite nice. Shrimp (cold, boiled) - This also got refilled halfway through our meal. The meat was firm and flavored nicely with lemon. I love cold shrimp so this was a nice addition to the buffet. Shrimp (stir fried) - These were peeled and in a clear sauce. They weren't the most amazing, but it was nice to have another type of shrimp to choose from. Black Bean Clams - These were amazing. They were also refilled halfway through our meal and I ate a LOT of them. They had a nice blend of black bean and spice, and the clams themselves were nice and sweet. Sesame Balls - These might not be homemade, but they tasted just as good as a dim sum place, and they weren't huge so they didn't fill us up too much. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - These were fried nicely so they weren't too greasy but they were fried enough that you could eat the shell with the meat since it was nice and crispy. Good flavor. All in all, if we had a car, we'd definitely be back, and if it were a tad bit cheaper, I'd give it 4 stars. Still, it was a solid buffet for an area that doesn't have a lot of cheap Chinese buffet options. We actually walked about 40 minutes each way to get here and we have no regrets.

I've never stayed to eat, but the space is spacious enough with plenty of tables. My only complaint is that they're closed on Mondays, which is almost always when I want them! A few of my favorites: -Moon Pie with chives and egg filing: Super good. Crispy texture on the outside, piping hot filling on the inside. Savory, well seasoned, and very surprisingly tasty even though it looks super simple. I don't always get it, but I'm stoked every time I do. -Beef scallion hand pulled noodles: Any of their hand pulled noodles are delicious, but these are very good. Not super spicy, but has a bit of the hot oil and great umami flavor. -Scrambled egg tomato hand pulled noodles: These are THE ONE. The sweetness of the tomatoes mixed in with the savory threads of egg are chef's kiss. The noodles are the perfect texture and covered in the balanced flavors of egg and tomato. I used to shy away and complained that this dish didn't have enough protein, but the flavor easily makes up for it and you still get the filling, savory tastiness that you're looking for. Definitely a must-get. -Wonton (noodle) soup: Pretty sure their wontons are homemade. Really delicious, flavorful broth. Anytime someone in the house is sick, this is always a go-to. -Fried dumplings: Also delicious. Well fried, has a nice crust on the outside. -Beef stew noodles: Really flavorful broth with tender beef chunks. I believe the noodles that come with it are skinnier, but you can swap them out for the hand pulled noodles. Really great option/choice for hand pulled noodles! If you can't find a parking spot on the street, there's a lot behind the building (near Corrib Pub).

I'm not asian but any means so I can't speak to the authenticity of natural quality of the old friend noodles, but it wasn't for me. Perhaps egg drop soup, scallion pancakes, or other items I'd go for. This place has a lot of good ratings so I might give it a second chance. The noodles tasted more like spaghetti was added in. I left so much food behind as a result. I more so would go for korean or japanese noodle spots from now on.

(A note about spice in Chinese cuisine: Szechuan spice is all about the humble peppercorn with its numbing quality, while Hunan spice is straight up chili pepper. I can't say my digestive system does well with either of them but I love the Hunan variety a bit more. After even one accidental bite of a peppercorn, my lips swell up badly.) Nice to have a solid Hunan restaurant, right by the Chestnut Hill reservoir. It's clean and bright inside, with an enormous menu that offers something for both adventurous and picky eaters alike. We got the: 1. Happy crispy chicken - I was not expecting this to be sweet! This one was very greasy and could've used some blotting. Interesting combo, good to get as a group. 2. Stir fried beef with pickled pepper - My family always orders some version of this dish when we go out to eat. This one was a little saucier than I prefer. 3. Stir fried cabbage - One of their most popular dishes and the one that my table loved the most. They get the cabbage to be so perfectly crispy. I will say, though, that the vegetable dishes are surprisingly expensive for such low-cost ingredients, everything in the veggie section is $20 or above. We also got a tomato egg soup that was a miss, way too much cornstarch that turned the soup into a thick goo. Also, watch out for the automatic tip that gets added. Usually places add auto gratuity to parties of 6 or more but I think MHHK adds it to 5 or more.

Starting with an iPad menu, our ordering experience with our waiter was subpar. We ended up with extra things ordered that weren't part of our initial order. In good news the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fire and the waiter poured 5 glasses of water for 3 of us. So we could cool down without needing to flag him down. With the only non-Asian waiter in the restaurant, he struggled with basic elements of service. Inattentive. Requests went unmet (lemons for water). We sat for more than 15 mins after asking to box up leftovers and to close our check. This was all a little embarrassing, as we brought my boyfriend's father. After singing praises of the NYC spot, this was a disappointment.

No, I don't blame them for applying their spin on the dishes. But don't expect me to forgive a lot of culinary mistakes that your predecessor perfected. I actually updated this review because I can't keep a 5 star review on a place that I once frequented often that I now decided I'd never return to after the repeated mishaps again, and again, and again.
