    Banh Cuon menu

So glad we did not have to wait at 3pm on a weekend Simple decor with traditional Vietnamese hats and Vietnamese music The servers were so friendly and helpful as it was our first time visiting. They added a few new items on the menu and so glad we tried it. (Met Cha - Bamboo Tray) #29 Met Cha Ca- fish cake bamboo tray. We rolled our own rice roll which was fun and added in the herbs (mint, cilantro), fish cake slices, vermicelli, sliced mango and pickled veggies, bean sprouts, served on a traditional bamboo platter. This platter tasted refreshing. $16. The fish cake was soft and flavorful but not fishy which is good for those who don't like that. The #8 Banh Cuon (pork and shrimp ) was pretty smooth and tasty. The steamed rice rolls has to be fresh with the rolled pork and shrimp inside. It is served with some lettuce, bean sprouts cilantro,, dipping sauce and piece of cuttlefish fish cake (also has prawn and basil). It would be nice if they had a hand wash station nearby It would also be helpful if they had high chair for young kids. They have free parking in the back of the restaurant

A Vietnamese restaurant that doesn't serve the typical pho or banh mi, but different unique and authentic dishes. What a refreshing experience. I love visiting new restaurants for this reason. Their menu is simple with just a few items, but I enjoyed everything we ordered. 1. water fern cake - comes with 5 little plates - great for sharing between at least 3 people in my opinion. steamed rice cake with some savoury toppings. 2. prawn steamed rice rolls - my favourite of all the dishes. the rice rolls were so smooth and tasty. this dish was also huge. loved it 3. cudweed cake - northern Vietnam traditional "cake" made with sticky rice and mung beans. this one was quite interesting and the flavours were rather light and subtle. 4. prawn summer rolls - loved the peanut dipping sauce. As they just opened, they are probably still figuring out some things because service was rather slow. I'd also like to suggest them to keep in mind who ordered first and to serve in that order. (The table across from eyes ordered after us but got the water fern cake first *insert eyes emoji*) They are also a relatively small cafe so be aware you might have to wait for a table during busy hours. The decor they have is also nice and cute. In conclusion, I'd love to visit again.

I thought I would try something outside of the mall today and walled over to this cozy little restaurant on Kingsway. I came in the afternoon and was greeted by the smell of fish sauce. Which is ok if you like it! The server gave me plenty of time to select what I wanted and I had the salad roll and one of their specialty soups. The salad roll was amazing! And it was presented very well with a side of peanut sauce. The soup was also very tasty. I had the 32 which was recommended by my server. All in all this place is worth a try!

Wait time was a bit long but the rice rolls were delicious. Will return again to try their desserts.

The potion for the large bowl is HUGE. I almost finished (but that's another story!). The bowl of noodle soup came to the table steaming which I loved. I had the #1 House Special (Rice Noodle Soup With Rare Steak, Brisket, Fatty Flank, Tendon, Tripe and Beef) and my friend had the Vermicelli Noodle bowl of Lemon Grass Chicken with Minced Pork-the chicken was moist and tender and enjoyed a lot. Chicken was seasoned and grilled perfectly. The restaurant is big but not fancy. You come to eat and then go. Service was good as they came by to fill our tea pot and check if all was fine. Really lame vegetarian pho -- this is what my review is based on…read more I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday after noticing they had a vegetarian pho ($14.50 for a small; $15.50 for a large). It does not come with tofu, so I added some (another $4!) to my small size. The pho came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho came with lots of veggies (lots of broccoli, plus cauliflower, carrot, celery, white onion and green onion), plus lots of rice noodles, and tofu. Of course, the broth is usually what makes or breaks a pho, and this was one of the most low-effort, lamest vegetable broths I've tried in Greater Vancouver (and I've tried over 90 pho places in the Metro area that have veggie pho options). In fact, I saw the woman fill up my pho bowl from the hot water dispenser. So, they don't even bother to have a proper veggie broth; they just base the broth on hot water, with maybe some salt and possibly some other spices? The broth tasted like barely salted water. Super lame. Embarrassing product to serve. The value is bad given the very lame quality. I like that they have a veggie pho option. The portion is big and you get lots of vegetables, though the lack of tofu is definitely a thumbs down given the already above average price for the pho. All in all, don't come here for veggie pho. 2 stars is very generous.

Guessing this place has been around since the mall first opened. Everything is pretty beaten up inside. Staff are friendly, but service is slow. Soup is medium in terms of heaviness. Bowls are a bit on the small side though. I also had the grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi). Hit the spot. There is a spicy option. Looks like they also put some black pepper in there for some extra kick. Overall a pretty solid choice. The place got full on a weeknight, and it's easy to see why. Recommended.

Since then though we've heard a few people say positive things about it so...we decided it was time to give it another try. Came here as a group of 5, and it was a last minute decision as we had originally planned to eat elsewhere but that place turned out to be closed on Sundays. With no reservation on a Sunday, we were asked to wait about 10 minutes. Not too bad of a wait, compared with another Vietnamese place that we'd driven by earlier which had a lineup out the door. A couple of people in our group had fried eggs on their dishes. The eggs looked good. Soft yolks and soft yolk is what I like to see. There was a Papaya salad that we shared amongst the table. This was OK for me. Wasn't thrilled with it. I ordered the Lemongrass Tofu on Vermicelli. I love that this restaurant gives the option of having it on Vermicelli. I'd been somewhere else earlier this year which also had Lemongrass Tofu but it was only served on rice, with no option of switching to Vermicelli. The Lemongrass flavor was strong. Very flavorful. Something in the dish though was quite spicy. It seemed a lot of other dishes on the table were also quite spicy. Hubby's Bun Bo Hue was extremely spicy but he still enjoyed the dish very much. My daughter and I both ordered the Sober Sunday drink which had Lychee, Kumquat and Lemon Juice. The drink was OK. Nothing to write home about. Our daughter just ordered the Tapioca Dumplings appetizer and then took bits and pieces from other people's orders. A spring roll and a couple pieces of Lemongrass Tofu from me, some beef and noodle from her dad...etc. The dumplings looked tasty. They looked like something I'd have ordered myself if I were still a meat eater. Overall, the food here is flavorful. It was a much better experience this time than the first time we came here. Personally though, I'd prefer them to tone down the spice or even eliminate the spice altogether. I don't like having to wipe my nose all the time because of having eaten something spicy, or having my lips burn.

But the prawns were overcooked the salted egg yolks taste was barely there. And there were only 6 pieces of the shrimp. We also ordered the special crab soup. This dish was just ok for me. This place was a miss for me the food is not worth going back for.
