The atmosphere here is great! It was very laid back and the server was extremely friendly. We visited on a weekday night. It was not very crowded. The birria here was perfect. It had great flavor and the consume served with it was the perfect side. My daughter had the jerk chicken tacos. The jerk flavor was there but the chicken was a little dry and needed some other kind of sauce. My second daughter had the birria ramen. She initially wnjoyed it but realized it was to spicy for her and could not finish it. I thought it was perfect if you like spicy food. I gave Tina's 4 stars because I felt the bill was high. I thought 72 bucks for tacos and a bowl of ramen was a lot. I also go one drink that was not made well because a server had to make it because the bartender was out getting ice. Everything from the food and service was great! After work on Friday, my homie and I went to Tina's Tacos and was seated right away. Anthony, who was our amazing bartender and server for the evening -- was the best! Really took care of us. All of the employees were nice and wore mask. Hip-Hop music was playing and it was such a vibe. Had the audacity to have not 1 but 2 Henny Fruit Punch. The drink(s) were good and super strong. For my entree, I had the Taco Box - 3 jerk chicken tacos that came with the broth dip!!! This was one of the BEST TACOS I've ever had!! Juicy? Yes! Seasoned well? Yes! Fulfilling? Yes! Mmm! Dined here on a Friday night after seeing this restaurant on FYI Philly... So glad I came! When we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. One of the owners came out and waited on us; he was very pleasant and down-to-earth. We ordered margaritas (1 pineapple and 1 mango) and 2 taco boxes (1 chicken and 1 beef). While we sat and waited for our food, we listened to some good music and observed the cool art on the walls. It did not take long for the food to come out and it came out piping hot and looked as good in person as it did when it was featured on FYI AND it was hella good!!! This was my first time ever having Birria tacos - they are delish. The meat was super tender and well flavored; I preferred the beef to the chicken though. Our drinks were great also. Forgot to mention that the owner gave us complimentary chips with Habanero salsa - which was hot and fresh also. I was pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely return! Birria tacos - well they are totally the 'in' way to prepare tacos these days.  Every Mexican place is scrambling to offer their version of this Jalisco specialty. Birria is of course the foundation of this dish and is a marinated beef stew.  Originally birria was only cooked on holidays and special occasions but in the world of Mexican-American food, tacos made with birria are now on offer everywhere seven days a week.  I totally love them and the best way to eat them is to dip the meat filled tacos in the birria gravy which is served on the side.  Tina's Tacos serves up a very tasty birria taco (they come in a set of three) and I can def recommend them to anyone. Tip:  One suggestion - order ahead of time if you plan to take out as Tina's gets very busy and it can be a very long wait if you just walk in and order. read more

Came here with a friend. Nice cosy taco / bar. The taco was meaty but didn't have cilantros or onions. I later asked if we can get onions and cilantro on the side but they didn't really bring it out. The restaurant was not that busy and waiter was nice but had poor follow through. The tacos were meaty but leaned little salty. I could have really used some of the veggies that I requested. Next time if I do go, I'll make sure to ask for veggies from the beginning and probably only get the tacos the uncut quesadilla was but hard to eat. I had to stop by this new Fishtown bar for taco Tuesday and it didn't disappoint. I tried their steak birria tacos that were sensational. They offered chicken and beef as well. For drinks I started off with a Henny colada that was very refreshing, then tried a local draft beer. They offer everyone to try a spin at their shot wheel for $5. Whichever shot u landed on that was the shot they would give you. The theme of the bar is from the cartoon show Bob's Burgers which was pretty cool. The music was nice with a lot of current hip hop. The tacos are real protein bombs, filled with melted cheese and a lot of meat! I tried a beef taco box to go, $14 for three tacos plus a cup of greasy birria dipping sauce. It's been awhile since I've sat down to review a business but this was such a terrible experience I couldn't not make my neighbors aware to avoid this place. Full disclosure I wrote this for google as well. The Curse of Jovan Lives on. If you've been in this neighborhood for awhile you may have known the family owned business that sat in this spot for decades before it was home to three other failed businesses and its current iteration of Tina's Tacos. I hadn't tried any of the businesses since Jovan left (Loved Jovan's Place) but I was visiting my friend and when we were unable to order from our preferred establishment I asked her, "Ok, well, what should we try now?" She said Tina's Tacos? and I was like are you sure? It's probably bad, we agreed it was probably going to be bad but we had no idea. Our expectations were quite low before ordering to prepare ourselves, we ordered items for three people to split via grubhub for pickup. The order said it would take 40 minutes to prepare, kind of long for tacos but whatever. I walked over when it was time to pick up my order and got it and walked outside and looked at the bag but it didn't seem like 50 dollars worth of food. One to go container and a few cups. I took it back and asked - the ONE person working who was obviously busy and flustered who told me my order was right. ok, maybe it was, I texted my friend who had ordered it for a receipt, nope it was wrong, they had missed half of our order. I went back inside, they had forgotten our beef tacos, an order of street corn, churros. They were out of Churros, ok. they refunded me. I waited for 20 minutes for them to fill the rest of my order, they asked me twice what I was waiting for during this time period, beef birra tacos. Finally my order was done, the first half of my food was now cold. They offered an apology and no refund, no manager seemed to be on site. ok cool, it's a pandemic I feel bad for this poor flustered employee behind the bar with no support working during a pandemic. I leave. I text my friend that I'm coming back finally I told her it's gong to be bad based on the service. We sit down outside with plates and inspect the food, it's weird, it looks bad, here is a review of the food that we couldn't eat because it was inedible - and this is saying a lot because I will eat almost anything. Mexican Curried Queso - seemed to be just canned cheese with soggy mystery meat on top - maybe pork? There was no curry whatsoever in the queso. Spicy Corn - This was a small cup of canned corn they charged 4 dollars for that looked to be soaked in franks red hot sauce? it was not spicy at all. Did you know that an industrial sized can of corn runs around $6 at Costco? that's quite a markup. Salsa - I think this was canned tomatoes that they blended up, it was so bad we all spit it out on the ground. The chips that came with the order were mostly burnt as well. Vegetarian chalupas - It took us awhile to figure out what this was, the chalupas were an inch thick of fried flavorless dough, my friends mom who was visiting thought it was chicken and kept arguing with us about it. They covered it in boiled potatoes (possibly canned) and a few mushrooms that also appeared to be canned and some cheese that was a solid sheet. We did not eat this. Beef Birria Tacos - remember when I waited 20 minutes for these and they asked me twice what I was waiting for? They gave us soggy chicken Birria Tacos instead of beef. They were the only thing that was semi edible but THEY WERE FULL OF BONES. We had split everything and my friends had several bones, mine had a large vertebra. I messaged the owner with photos and telling them about my experience, mostly about the wrong order, and bone tacos. They wrote a snarky response back and said I could walk back and they'd remake my order (it was already 9pm and I felt so sick I didn't want to eat) we got a refund through grub hub instead and threw out the food. I drove home thinking I'd need to pull over on 676 to throw up but somehow made it home. I was unable to eat anything until the afternoon the following day. Easily one of the worst meals I've had at a restaurant in my life. Good luck to these people selling overpriced spoiled canned food and bone tacos. read more

I'd give Tina's Tacos a solid 4/5. This is a local hole in the wall place that I'd definitely go to more often if I lived in the area. I traveled a bit out of the way to give it a try bc I heard about their birria tacos. They had some pretty good birria tacos, but they don't make it into my top 3. The menu item that highly impressed me was actually the jerk chicken taco. You have to go try it!! So so delicious. Perfect combination of chicken and cheese and the jerk chicken is so flavorful. The sour cream drizzle brings the whole taco together. If I could do the visit over again, I would've gotten more of them. They sell the jerk chicken tacos as single tacos so I recommend ordering more than one! If you want to try the birria, it only comes as a combo with more than one so you can't get a single birria taco. The bartenders were extremely attentive, making sure everyone was taken care of. They're really personable too and make the place feel like a welcoming, local spot for anyone who makes their way there. They make a tasty classic margarita too!! Aside from the jerk chicken taco, the other star is that DJ. I need the playlist!! Had the vibes flowing the entire time. Shout out to her! Super gentrified and only following a "trendy" food birria. They're never actually open, or look like they're open when you drive by, and when you call you don't get an answer, or at least I didn't. I personally haven't eaten the food, but have tried way too many times and have failed to get the food. I cannot recommend this place. I know it's a pandemic and all that but my issues are not something that will be simply resolved by things going back to normal. My complaints boil down to the fact that most of the food here is subpar compared to the other options in the neighborhood and costs way more. I decided to try the curry queso and as described in other reviews it's some canned nacho cheese with the protein of your choice on top of it which had some curry characteristics to it. Would not order this again, especially not at the price. The chips were really good though at least. The tacos (I got the beef) were actually really good and the broth is fantastic but they forgot to give me the salsa and cilantro and other stuff it says are supposed to come with it. For the price you're paying for this stuff I'd expect to get what's described on the menu. I got a guava margarita. If you want margaritas, Loco Pez isn't that far away. All in all I'm just kinda disappointed. I was hoping this would be a place I'd want to come back to because it's so close but I honestly can't recommend it at the current prices/quality. read more

There's not a lot of birria taco spots on the east coast in general so I was surprised how good the food was. We got the beef taco boxes and fiesta fries, and I would recommend both. The birria was thinner than what I was used to but the flavor in the tacos were still there. Everything came out very quickly. It's a small place with not that many tables but they have a huge bar area to sit at and some TV's to catch the game. The overall atmosphere of this place has a bar type feel, which is perfect if you're looking for a happy hour or a place with good eats and music. Unfortunately very bad. I do not recommend spending your money here. I hyped this place up before ever stepping foot inside because 1) the Bob's Burgers theme is GENIUS and 2) I'll ALWAYS support neighborhood business. I was so happy to have a new spot in the neighborhood but that all quickly dissipated upon my first dine-in experience. Service is poor. Very poor. Both owners were the only servers/bartenders. Throughout the service, I had to flag down the woman for more water each of the three (3) times for a re-fill. If my table did not personally flag her down, she would walk right by empty drink cups. There were only two other dine-in tables so being busy was not the problem. Both owners scrolling Instagram behind the bar was the problem! I'll look past poor service for good food but unfortunately that was underwhelming as well. We ordered chips & salsa a two birra boxes. All items took a very long time to come out. The cook came from the kitchen to the bar to re-fill his water and apologized for the delay in the process. It was really nice of the cook to talk to our table because our waitress couldn't have cared less about us. We waited another 25 minutes for the food. It happens, I get it. The food was honestly great. I liked the Indian spin on the queso. The food is decent - I ordered the beef birria tacos but ended up with chicken since they ran out of beef by the time they started making our order. The broth was SUPER salty, almost to the point where it didn't taste good anymore. I have heard from people who had good experiences with the food here, I just didn't love the experience I had. The staff were super sweet and I wanted to like this place but it just was not good. We tried calling a few times to place an order but no one ever picked up so we walked over since we're right around the corner. It's not very nice inside, kind of looks like a dive bar, we decided right away if we liked the food this would be a takeout only place. When I placed my order the girl at the bar repeated it back to me but I still ended up with the wrong thing. Husband got the beef birria box which comes with three different items (taco, quesadilla, chalupa) but they were all pretty much the same. I ordered beef tacos but ended up with chicken, fine. The order didn't take long and food was just ok, we both ate about half our orders after covering it with some salsa and hot sauce we had at home and then decided it wasn't worth the calories. Food is super flavourful, made fresh to order, and if I weren't already so fat I would eat here every day. Skimmed reviews -- it's pretty clear that some of these negative reviews are targeted racism towards coloured small business owners. I don't condone the owner reaching out to patrons with his response, but there are multiple reviews using the same single isolated incident and passing this off as multiple episodes. As a former small business owner I get where he's coming from. Many customers are pr*cks and in this day and age a cell phone and 2 minutes of being pissed off can lead a momentary lapse in judgement. Genuinely hope these guys survive as they're an asset to the community. Both owners are young trailblazers and super talented. Two experiences at this place so far and here's my review: 1) food is pretty good. It's fairly simple ingredients but packed with flavor. I would classify it as really good food truck food. Birra tacos and nachos seem like the way to go but would love to try the churros at some point 2) opening during in a pandemic is tough- but could have provided the extra time for a renovation. Ambience leaves room for improvement and hopefully it does improve over time 3) order online for pick up and go seems to be the play- food was ready prior to the estimated time and was still in good condition after 20 minutes of travel and consumption time post pick up 4) back to the food- it's very unique which is a huge plus for me in a neighborhood that has a million pizza places and coffee shops but not a plethora of variety read more

I was looking forward to eating here after learning about the whole concept (Bob's Burgers, etc.). I read a few mixed reviews, though, so I was somewhat hesitant. That said, I really enjoyed everything I ate! I've eaten the foods from various Mexican regions and here in the States and it's on par with some of the better locations. Birria, being relatively new to many Americans, is not as challenging to explain as you'd think; imagine a very thin, Mexican shredded beef stew with some spice and flavorful fat floating on top. The broth was actually flavorful though subtle, and the beef tender. The various salsas were good though I think they were a little too mild for me. Theit hottest one was very good, though, and I mixed a few of them to suit my tastes. The guacamole was fresh and the accompanying chips tasty and salty enough to make me want another sour beer. When I go back, I'll have the chicken birria because I'm curious. I'm not sure what others expect, but I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. I think as time goes on, they'll settle into a slightly different menu that will fit the neighborhood a little better. (I'd love to see a blackened Mahi Mahi taco, but that's me.). Also, though I like the Mexican-East Indian fusion, I'm not sure everyone else will. (The "Indian Street Corn" may confuse folks.) Give them a try. Felt a little skeptical about this since it's not the traditional Mexican restaurant and was pleasantly surprised when we got our food. The Nasty Nachos were to die for as my girlfriend had said and the tacos were oooo so good. The tacos came right off the grill and was so fulfilling. So I just came to the opening re opening of Tina's Tacos. The appetizers came out pretty fast. Ordered nachos with chicken and cheese. As I looked around there weren't many customers here but a good amount which meant the kitchen should have been pumping out food. Needless to say, the kitchen was backed up and it took 1 1/2 and a half for out orders to come out. I ordered three tacos with chicken. The tacos were so greasy! I mean dripping grease! I could have laid my hair down with all the grease they served me. Four bartenders at the bar and nobody was ordering drinks. A guy from the kitchen kept walking around with a grey and black tray collecting plates off tables while people were eating. This was very tacky! I couldnt tell the staff from the customers as everyone was dressed the same ‍ The drinks weren't awful, but when I go to a mexican place I expect a very good margarita. I ordered the mango frozen marg and a house regular. They were alright, but I think the mango was just too heavy for me personally. The house margarita I got on the rocks and each time I ordered a drink it came in a different glass. Just seems to not have any consistency. I thought this would be a better experience but wasn't. I tried this place the first time via Uber Eats and it was very disappointing. The birra broth was missing from my chicken birra box and while the chicken had a nice spicy kick it was very dry.
