The owner of the shop is very rude, shows no basic respect to the clients, and gives off bitchy comments to clients when they don't want to build a cake on their nails They would add extra charges without clarifying the price beforehand. They even allowed certain customers to not properly wearing masks. My nail artist was the only person who deserved the one star and that is because I feel bad for her. I highly recommend this place not to overbook. Their facility cannot handle that many customers. I also recommend the owner to carefully evaluate their technicians. I feel their quality of service has dropped so much after the store reorg this summer. The service of their technician is not consistent. Some of the technicians cannot even make sure the nail color to be even. The owner needs to make sure their junior technicians to have sufficient amount of training before providing services. Imagine that the junior technician rushes on your service because she needs to rush to the next service. To be honest, this place is costly, however, the current quality of the place does not worth the money. I even feel that the store should pay back to the customers regarding the time, pain and unsatisfied services their technicians provided to the customer. I think my experience is not unique as I saw many similar experiences on yelp. If you really want to come to this place, please make sure you ask for the most senior technician to do your nail, plus not come here during peak hours. Literally can replicate any style from the pictures you found on Ins, and they're also good with original designs. I read other reviews that had complained about services. I don't know about them but I didn't have a problem like that. Every time tea and magazines were offered once I sat down. I'm usually indecisive about the style and the girls patiently gave me suggestions and waited for my decision. Phoebe had the best skill in drawing. I was amazed by how steady her hands were. I've been to a salon where they had to redo several times for a marble style. Never gonna happen with her. Sayuri is a Japanese girl, but her Chinese is near native. She's very soft and sweet, never gonna raise her voice in talking. She has a good taste in color and she knows well about the popular styles. But be sure to say your demands slowly and in detail with her. After all Chinese and English are not her native language and a little patience and understanding is good for both of you in communication. I've been to numerous Japanese/Japanese-style nail salons and I've been getting calgel for 8 yrs. So when I moved to Boston in June, I was on a search for a salon that offers calgel. I was happy to find Tinailery, since they offer leafgel and presto. I've heard good things about those brands and was excited to try them. I travel often and extensively so it usually takes me about a month to two months (rarely, but it happens) to get a new set of nails, which is why I stick with good quality gel regardless of price. It took me almost two months after my first visit to return to Tinailery. My nails held up pretty well but there was peeling and chipping, even after TWO coats of their "hard top coat". Yea, it's been a long time so why wouldn't I expect any peeling or chipping? Because I haven't experienced it with high quality salons that use high quality gels, even with a longer period of time. Why do I compare with other salons? Because this establishment prides itself in their quality and they set a steep price, which could be justified if they actually delivered. Sadly, they have not. To get into their "steep prices"- they charge $15 for each layer of this "hard top coat" (required for stone designs) and $10 for gel removal FROM THEIR SALON. Huh?! Of all my salon visits, I've never been charged extra for either of these. They also charge $15 per extension. What?! And their prices for stones are laughable. I will happily pay a premium for quality products but these upcharges are unheard of. Even then, I wanted to continue to come back... Until I realized how subpar my service was. Removal- I was worried about removal with the double layers of "hard top coat" but the tech reassured me that it wouldn't be a problem. Nope. During removal, some of my nails were grinded down so much that they were too flimsy to keep my length. My (naturally very thick) nails were so brittle (to a point where the grown portion would "fold") that I had to cut all my nails short. If I wanted to damage my nails, I could've gone to any of the many other salons closer to my apt or I could've peeled them off myself. Application- Overall sloppy. Certain things were fixed after I pointed them out, but why should I have to? I admit I'm picky, which is why I specifically chose Tinailery for their quality. After three visits, my choice was proven wrong. The tech will fix whatever you're unhappy about but it's odd that I have to complain about basic things to get them done right. Appts- The two times I made appts for design, they set me up for single color, leaving me without choice. The first time, I went in the next day to get my designs (that's how I ended up with double layers of "hard top coat"). +1 There's so much potential and they do offer quality products. +1 They offer a package system (aka their VIP membership), which is basically paying upfront in gift card form (I believe you get some sort of discount with this option). I love the idea and I'm always on board with packages, so I'm torn to break up with Tinailery. -1 Ridiculous upcharge and lacking service. I want to emphasize that price CAN most definitely be justified if the outcome is satisfactory. But you can't talk the talk without walking the walk. * PS- I disagree with reviewers that comment on race affecting quality of service. I'm Asian. And yes, they do speak foreign languages but I'm sure they're not saying negative things about their clients. Although I'm not satisfied with their services, I think they are more professional than that. ** PPS- I do agree with the reviewers that felt pressured to tip. On my first visit, a tech explained that I can tip through Venmo and as I was leaving, she stopped me to watch me leave a tip. Note- I'm not one to not tip. I'll tip even if I'm not completely happy with the outcome as long as they're not downright rude/disrespectful (which didn't happen here) because I'm not trying to jiff anyone from their time/earnings. I got Japanese gel nails applied a few days ago by Cammie and I was so impressed! Cammie is super super meticulous and detailed. My cuticles have never looked so good after a manicure, and even though it's been a few days my cuticles are still perfect with no peeling. The gel application is also great quality. They aren't thick like acrylics, nor are they rock hard like SNS dip nails (which have the risk of cracking). I expect these gels to last at least 3 to 4 weeks. I've been to Tinailery about five or six times, now. If you go in and get your nails done by one of the more more experienced techs, they're going to do an amazing job. The first couple times I visited, I was overjoyed with the quality of work I received. Hang and Chrissi did amazing jobs. However, if you just go in for a regular gel manicure, you might get stuck with one of the more junior techs - one in particular whom I've been worked on twice in a row, Jodie or Judie (I'm not sure, I never actually got her name, and it's something different on VenMo.) Though sweet, she's both the slowest nail tech I've ever met, and she also can't seem to file nails in a cohesive or even shape. The first time she worked on me, it took over two hours to do an average gel manicure, and she didn't understand what an almond shaped nail looks like. I tried corrected her shaping twice before getting embarrassed and just accepting the round shape she gave me; I proceeded to fix the shape after I got home. The manicure was weirdly lumpy. THIS time, I went in on my lunch break because their website said it'd take 50 minutes for removal and a gel manicure. I literally had to leave, over an hour later, without even STARTING the actual polish portion of the manicure. Somehow, after an hour and ten minutes, she had only managed to (painstakingly slowly) remove my gel polish and both over-cut and misshape my nails. Even though I corrected her shaping twice, again. BONUS: I just broke two of the nails she seriously over-sanded just by lightly bumping my fingers against the faucet while going to wash my hands. My nails are awful and brittle and BROKEN from how much they were sanded down when removing my old gel, the lengths of my nails don't match, and honestly? I'm deeply annoyed. For their prices, the work should NOT be this shoddy. The place I used to go to in Brookline that charged $20 for the same service did a better job than this. If you're going to hold yourself out as a highly specialized and professional salon, how can you hire and retain techs who can't even file nails? How are you going to let someone use the equivalent of power tools on your nails if they're going to just strip away your natural nails until they're as weak as paper? It was nice that they offered to finish the manicure after I leave work. It WASN'T nice that the lady who offered also stared me down and pointedly asked me about how I want to tip. Twice. Kudos to me for being stupid enough to tip despite getting my nails mutilated. I can't believe I just paid $40+ to get my polish removed and my nails ruined. Woohoo. EDIT: I ultimately broke 3 nails between 2:30 and 5:30pm. Instead of having them finish the manicure when I went back in, I requested a refund because my evened-out nails would be way too short to look decent and I didn't want to deal with acrylics or anything like that. They were reluctant, but they ultimately granted the refund, for which I'm grateful. Most of my nails feel incredibly brittle though, so I think I'm going to take a break from manicures for a while. I had to cut all my nails down almost to the quick because a few others felt like they were on the verge of snapping too. EDIT EDIT (11/26/19): I've broken 4 more nails in less than 3 weeks, some of them more than once, even while rubbing strengthening serums and what-have-you all over my nails every other day. That's 7/10 fingers. Before the above session, my nails almost never broke. That is all. read more

Gorgeous salon - found them on Instagram and instantly knew I had to come here. It's clean, the technicians are well trained, polite, courteous and they have very high quality products and services. Easy enough to book an appointment, and their location is great if you work in FiDi. My only complaint is that there is a lot of ambiguity when it comes to nail art prices. It's all subjective depending on the difficulty, but there needs to be more communication about additional charges etc. Their website has a few details, but if you're looking for a more customized set I would definitely request a quote or something next time. I came in to use their nail printer (that I found out about via IG!) but the result wasn't that great - I used a personal image that I sent beforehand, and it the result wasn't what I was expecting. I wish there had been a little more communication about what kinds of pics yield the best results because I would have brought more options then. I also had some simple nail art done - highly skilled artists that gave me exactly what I was looking for, but paid just over $100 for a relatively "simple" set (no charms or crazy nail art) which was a little surprising. So close! The place is very nicely decorated and clean. All the utensils are either sterilized or thrown out after each client, which is the main reason I came here. A mani pedi was 68 and definitely the polish was good. The cuticle/nail cutting part could be improved, I think the technician was afraid of doing anything too intense to my nail bed. She was very polite and asked for my opinion, but her nail cutting style was in the end too timid. I had to readjust my pedicure at home since the corner still bothering me. I have been coming here for more than two years, mostly for Dazzle Dry manicures and pedicures. They have been terrific. But last week I came for a Dazzle Dry French manicure. The technician did not put on a base coat, but I assumed this was probably necessary for this as I had never had it before. Alas, the white part of the manicure chipped off on my right hand within 24 hours; the rest within a day or two. I just pealed the rest off so it didn't look terrible. Worth every penny, they take a lot of time detailing your natural nails before extension application and I was so pleased with the less detailed nails I asked for. I got the best manicure of my life here today! I'm visiting Boston for the week, and I was thrilled to find a place that does Japanese style nail art close the hotel that I'm staying at. Cammie, the owner, was able to fit me into her schedule (I would highly recommend making an appointment... This place was CRAZY busy, so I got very lucky). Cammie was super efficient, and attentive to detail; she filed, buffed, removed cuticles, and applied gel, crystals, and studs to each nail, and carefully inspected each and every one to make sure they were absolutely perfect. This is definitely not a pop in and pop out place for a quickie manicure, they but a lot of work into these and it shows in the final product. I spent about an hour and a half here, and it was not cheap but it was very well worth it. I have actually stopped getting manicures in the past couple of years because I'm never totally satisfied with the final product, but I didn't have that problem here; my nails are perfectly shaped, totally symmetrical, and perfectly painted. Cammie is obviously very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about nail care and nail art. I had only a rough idea of what I wanted and she was able to come up with a beautiful design, and give me tips to care for my nails. If I lived in the area I would happily budget time and money to be a regular here. If I ever find myself in the area again I will definitely be back (I'll make an appointment next time)! read more

I love Tinailery and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a very high-quality manicure. I went here initially because I'd been dying to try a Dip Powder Manicure, and had a great experience. I was running late (very late) my first visit and unfortunately had to reschedule, but they were very nice and accommodating and found me another appointment very quickly! I've had two Dip Powder appointments with Li Wenjie who is truly a master at everything he does! I've had two amazing pedicures and two expertly done Nail Extension/Dip Powder applications. Ive has countless pedicures and manicures in my life and I've never encountered someone with such an amazing attention to detail. He even takes the time to match up nail lengths on opposing nails (something I've never had done before)! The Dip Powder application is amazing, my first one lasted 4 weeks and could have gone more but my nails were getting too long! I just had another application so I can't speak to the longevity yet, but it looks just as amazing as the first time. The prices are a little high but worth it when you take into consideration the quality of work and how long the manicure lasts. It's roughly $10 more than a normal gel manicure and lasts almost twice as long! If you are looking for a regular nail polish place, it is not the best option. BUT it is the pearl of Gel and Nail Art. I had my gel nail art done here before the christmas. It was amazing!! I was super happy and satisfied. First of all, I generally don't like gel manicure, for lots of personal reasons. Secondly, I NEVER had any nail art before, whatsoever. I was literally talked into this and booked the pedi-mani for me. I'd like to share the best parts of my experience here. Quality: 1. Customized gel color. I was obsessed with blue grey colors during my prep, and I happen to see a pic of my most ideal color in that zone. I had never imagine the manicurist would made the special color exactly as I saw in the pic. It was like MAGIC to me. (I know maybe I have overreacted) But how pleasant it is. 2. Huge collection of nail art accessories/decos. I had no idea what kind of art I want. I basically started designing while browsing the website and Japanese nail art magazines in the store. I saw some golden sea-theme nail art collection in a Japanese magazine which I fell in love with right away. They blew my mind by handing the beautiful exquisite little tiny accessories exactly like the ones in the Magazine to me. It was a HANDSDOWN. 3. It last 3 weeks without major damage. I had to take it off for the sake of the health of my nails, otherwise, who knows how long it can last. None any big piece missing! Though, fairly speaking, my nails can carry nail polish longer than most of my frds. Service: 1. Japanese standard. They are Japanese and Chinese. so you should not be surprised if they are super sweet and attentive. 2. They serve special hot tea and water here. The place is quite, not too big, but enough for a crazy bridal party and plus some other clients. 3. Clean and comfortable. Very important. 4. More than 500 gel colors. I couldnt say enough about this place. Phoebe is definitely a dope. She is super detail-oriented, patient, and whats more very friendly to chat with. Whats more you can ask from a nail technician. To say this is a nail salon, I would say this is a nail boutique. If you take a look at the store in detail you can tell every corner puts heart into it, the floral stairs, the picture frame with nail art display in it, and the sliding door with a touch of green.
