This restaurant has potential for being good but their biggest problem is inconsistency. We mostly use drive through when eating here. Staff is normally friendly. They do have a rewards program that gives you points to my knowledge there is not an app and points are tied to the credit/debit card used. We once saved 5 dollars due to points. Their red salsa is tasty but they are shiesty with it and are quick to give you green over red. The bean and cheese, potato chorizo, barbacoa, egg chorizo are normally great tacos. However there are times you may get a burnt or under cooked bacon or just extremely small portions. I occasionally order pancakes for my little one and they usually have a great taste however last few times I have ordered them they taste artificial and came burnt. read more

Just don't! I wish I had asked friends that lived by this place before eating here. I got a barbacoa taco and picadillo taco. The picadillo was okay. Pretty water and/or greasy it was hard to tell. By my taco was falling apart. My barbacoa taco was horrible! So greasy, not great flavor. I couldn't finish it. It got grease everywhere. It made my tummy hurt and me have to use the bathroom multiple times. I walked into Tink-A-Tako with high hopes, eager to dive into this cuisine that I have heard so many rave about. Unfortunately, I walked out with nothing but regret and a terrible stomachache. My sister and I kept it simple: a quesadilla plate and a flauta plate. That's where the disappointment began. The chicken inside my sister's flautas was pink, undercooked, and completely flavorless. My quesadilla wasn't any better--the cheese had a strange, unpleasant aftertaste, and the chicken tasted bland, as if no seasoning had touched it. To make matters worse, everything on the plates was drowning in oil and grease. Grease was the main flavor of the entire meal. There was also a weird crispy thing hanging off my quesadilla that tasted awful. The rice was also crusty and dehydrated. Could barely chew it. Halfway through eating, both my sister and I felt our stomachs turn. I couldn't even finish my food. For a $40 tab, this was beyond disappointing--absolutely not worth the money or the misery. So much was wasted here, both my sister's money and my time. I will certainly NOT be recommending this place to anybody. Service was okay. They came out with our orders pretty quickly. The restaurant was filled with people and what I thought was a buzzing ambiance, turned out to be the flies swarming our food. The horchata was fire though. Went to have breakfast there yesterday with my wife. We were seated, order taken and as the young man brought us our drinks, he drops the iced tea and waters all over me and the booth, gaining the attention of all the patrons in the restaurant. I was given a small stack of napkins by who I assume is the manager and a nearby patrons. As we were moved to another table, our waitress tells me, "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened", I can tell you what happened, drinks were spilled on me and I'm soaking wet, what a stupid statement to make. Our meal was brought out and when it was time to pay, they didn't offer another apology or at least comp my meal. I WAS a regular patron at the 471 restaurant and that was the last time I'll ever go back. I have been going to tink-a-tako since they were open on Culebra and 24th street. They have no integrity and clearly do not care about their customers. They should be ashamed of themselves. I place an online order for 16 tacos at approximately 8:45AM on a Saturday. The order was supposed to be ready 30 minutes later. When I arrived at 9:15, they said it would be at least another 20 minutes. I left and checked back in at 9:45. My order hadn't been started but the talk off was they were working on it. At 10:00 they called over Belinda and she began to get upset with me for showing up. She asked them to make my order and put the tacos on the counter and said "17 tacos". No "sorry for the wait" or just anything. When I mentioned this she began to argue with me. I get they are busy and probably understaffed but courtesy goes a long way. Went this morning. Gave us the wrong taco. Food is quite pricey for what you get. My taco barely had any filling in it and my wife's papa ranchera with sausage was horrible. Service was okay. The coffee was extremely watered down. I wished I took pictures. Ambiance is fine and typical for these types of restaurants. Think a Tako has gone down in quality and value. They used to be really good and then they started becoming more like a chain and quality dropped. read more
