This is why it's important to revisit places you have given great reviews too, again after a while. I can't believe how epically bad they have gotten. Our waitress was awesome, and the corn tortillas are still great. The menu is completely different, the quality has gone down, and the overall execution of dishes has taken a back seat. This is a prime example of HOW NOT TO adapt to the changes in the economy. You either shrink potions, but keep same quality or make substitutions and keep same prices.. Shame shame...they did all the opposite! All of our fav dishes are no longer on the menu. I didn't even bother taking pictures anymore. Let me say the food here was really good. But the margarita my god was excellent! The service is maybe one of the best in San Antonio! The vibe here is low key open setting with a vibe ready to explode with the right resident DJ playing outside the doors. I give it a few years before this location expends because it is that good! I enjoy coming here. It's in my neighborhood and super convenient. The service is friendly. The food is hot or miss. I'm guessing depending on who is in the kitchen at the time. The other night I got the Mexican plate and it was so good. Got it again this time and the plate was scalding hot but the cheese on the enchiladas wasn't melted and the meat was cold. But I ate it. Because I was hungry and that's what hungry tired people do!! Evidently I don't croak, so I'm good. The flavor was great. Just the heat wasn't there. I'll try again and see on another day. Overall. This place is very unassuming.Very colorful yet casual. They even have a drive thru! The server was very nice and the service was good. I was visiting from Maryland and wanted some good home style Mexican food, so my sister and brother-in-law brought us here. Excellent choice! Everything was fresh and flavorful. The handmade flour tortillas are what sealed it for me... the best tasting tortillas I've ever had. Soft and flavorful. The chips and salsa were also really good! Good food, friendly service and all very easy on the pockets. So good we even hit the drive thru and grabbed a couple tacos on the way to the airport! When I return, I will be back! read more

Food was good, I got the street tacos and my wife got the chicken enchiladas, all were flavorful and we even had to take some home. As for the staff, our server only came to the table once after we placed our order, or food was brought out by other waitstaff, we even had to track down another server to get the check. Initial impression walking in was the atmosphere was nice and clean. We arrive just before noon. We ordered glasses of water to start and one of the reusable cups were dirty. We asked for disposable cups instead Order Caldo de Pollo and it was flavorless, carrots were hard, rice was over cooked and the chicken tasted very plain.... Actually asked the waitress to remove from my bill. Ordered carnitas plate and carnitas were very dry and I did not taste any seasoning, just plan dried out pork. We were exciting to stop here to eat because it's very close to our home but I doubt that we will visit again. In all honesty, it seemed like someone heated up leftovers from the day before. It's crammed with tables and chairs kind of like a concert. Prices are so high that tipping on top of that doesn't even make sense. Also I don't know how the fire marshall would approve the crowding in there: if there was a fire or emergency of ANY kind, people are going to be trampled as there's barely over a foot of space between where one person sits at a table and another person sitting at the next table. The service and food are both good here. It's conveniently located by my neighborhood. They also have breakfast taco specials before 10am.

I know I've reviewed this restaurant before, but I didn't try this! Last night we got the shrimp cocktail and it was delicious. It had a chamoy and takin rim, yumm! The shrimp to sauce ratio was amazing. I have to say the flavor of the sauce was better than many I've tried before. If you haven't tried the cocktail I suggest you don't wait! Queso was good but not complicated. Margs were very tasty but wish they had a happy hour. Would recommend. We ordered a mixed chicken and beef parillada plate which came on a skillet and came out hot. It was very much cooked all together so if you are wanting a lupe tortillas style fajitas this is not quite that, but was still very good. Now with this delicious option just right off the freeway many families in the area are eating good now. El Guacamole is a taste of Mexico at a price you can afford. I've been to this establishment twice. My biggest complaint is the uncleanliness of the restrooms! The first time I went the toilet lid was missing and it was one of those lids where you have to push a button for a solid or liquid waste no hand soap or toilet paper. The second time we went the toilets were overflowing with paper towels, because they didn't refill the toilet paper so the floor was wet. and staff would just walk in and out as if there wasn't an issue. They were pretty good but that's not what i ordered. The tacos I had were good from there was well. I have had too many to break down them all.
