This place has the juiciest, most flavorful pollo I've had here in San Antonio. Putting salsa on it would be a crime, it doesn't need it. I had the hard shell taco plate and each taco was PACKED. There was no way I could get any lettuce or tomato's in them lol. Our plates felt like they were made with love. The refried beans had a smokey flavor to them, tasty and unique. I felt I needed to review. I rarely do. Looking for lunch after running an errand. Weather was cold misty and o was feeling a desire for caldo. I rarely eat out this past year since a cardiac event. My concern was there be too much salt. I am happy to report the chips had no salt and enjoyed they give you refried beans along with the sauce for dipping very tasty. The beef caldo broth was perfect... not gonna say there was no salt but definitely LOW salt compared to 2 other restaurants nearby and similar dish. Corn tortillas were homemade and not too thick. I left there feeling very genuinely happy. I told the waitress to let the owner know that the lass salt in their offerings is a good thing. Good flavors, good service. read more

I've been here before, I am usually northeast but happened to be on this side, I kinda hyped up this place because it's the one place that will serve chips with salsa and they even have queso. Needless to say, I just looked like a liar. I came into the restaurant in my scrubs? And maybe that's why the waitress deemed me unworthy of the delicious chips, salsa and queso. It's really a sandwich, but it is a whole meal. I like adding refried beans to mine. I had the avocado torta this time. They weren't stingy with the avocado like most places. The bread was buttery and perfectly toasted. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. The salsa has a little kick to it. When you're ready to pay, just walk up to the register. This is a new Mexican Taqueria on the Northwest side of town. The owners replaced the restaurant that used to be Spicy Ginger (sigh). Well I have been to Taqueria Jalisco twice and both times they got my order wrong. The first time I ordered green chicken enchiladas and they gave me red chicken enchiladas. I called back to voice my complaint, but never got a response. The second time, my Dad wanted soup so I ordered one chicken and one seafood caldo. Unfortunately, they tried to give me one caldo de pollo and a taco. When I pointed out the mistake, I had to wait for an extra 15 minutes and then they charged me for the difference. They also gave me just one little cup of rice for two big bowls of caldo. Now I could have overlooked these mistakes if the food was sensational, but, my tastebuds were not happy. I will say that the red and the green salsas were very good. I will try them one more time for just a breakfast taco. If you go, double check your order before you leave. read more

Saw some reviews, and saw they served pozole. The waitress was horrible, not a smile not even her name!! This place was really really really good, I had gone on a cold rainy winter night, I was tempted by the Menudo but I stuck with my original order since I like tasting how different the variations can be throughout the restaurants in San Antonio. My waitress spoke to me only in Spanish but luckily I am fluent in ordering food in Spanish and let me tell you, the enchilada plate had my eyes rolling in bliss. She came back to ask me "todos bien?" To begin with I loved that our server was bilingual and greeted us in my native Mexican tongue, although the lemonade wasn't ready upon asking for it , the appetizer of chips and salsa really made up for that 10 minute wait. Stunk like sewer when you walk in. Wanted a michelada and the cup smelled really bad and the michelada tasted expired. I took a sip and right away I didn't want it. We paid 55$ for a family of 5 they have so many specials but we all got more than we could eat. Two tacos would be enough for someone who usually eats 4 they are underpriced for what they serve! They will fill your plate up! They will and still offer more! The food quality is amazing and the barbacoa is PERFECT. Marissa, our waiter, helped us both times! We have been going here for over 15 years. It was the goto spot for traditional Tex-Mex and create breakfast tacos. Everything I visit my dad in San Antonio I looked forward to going here. However, today the we want to get our tacos we noticed two things that have changed. The tortillas were very tough, not sure why but they were. The sausage and egg tacos had half the normal amount of filling they normally would and the country sausage that used to be very good was almost like hot dogs this time. The fajitas were cold but the Mexican plate combo was served super fresh and super hot. I started with the crispy chicken taco which was good. However the beans had a reddish color to them and the rice was cold and mushy. The beef enchiladas were good at first bite but I noticed the corn tortillas were super soggy so the enchilada just fell apart. I asked if the kitchen could serve me an order without sauce but the waitress looked scared and was afraid to ask.
