Decided to stop by since I saw their $1 bean and cheese special and i kind of regret doing so. The food was mostly decent. I ordered a puffy taco plate and the chicken was very bland and the taco falling apart. Rice was also dry and the beans were decent. Overall the dish was okay. The flour tortillas had a plastic texture and didn't feel very homemade. The salsa and small appetizer soup they gave me were good enough. The place has nice decor but lacked atmosphere. Now the three stars is mostly due to the poor service. Our server Peter was very friendly but lacked attentiveness. Empty drinks, dirty plates and lack of napkins throughout our entire visit really ruined our experience. I came here a couple of times as a child and now I understand why my parents never came back here. If I'm being honest I did order a dish that is complicated to make and eat which did lead to me having some issues I mentioned. This place is super affordable if you order the right things. Me and my partner only paid $23 so I'd say it's kind of worth coming here if you're on a budget. Sadly not somewhere I'd come back to. read more

I've been coming to Apetitos for years. The service and atmosphere have always been great! Today I went through the drive thru and placed my order. I was greeted right away by the waitress who took my order over the intercom and then proceeded to have me drive forward. I ordered 2 tacos and a drink that was just over $10. This is somewhat pricey considering what you get. My order was received a few minutes later. The tortilla was a thin compared to last visits but the taco was pretty stuffed. The tortillas used to be fluffy and larger so I'm not sure if it's a new cook or new recipe. Either way I'll be back when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

It's near a military base and they serve you quickly that it gets our servicemen in and out on their one hour lunch. Overpriced Mexican food restaurant whose time has come since 1990. I wouldn't have minded if the quality of the food was better, but this time it wasn't. It says they are hiring obviously for a cook. $5 for a barbacoa taco, buy 2 and a big red and you would have paid enough for a pound with a dozen torts, and sauce at Culebra market. The manager tried to convince us that he was giving us a break at the register, when I mention the quality of the food, he didn't even apologize. Comes with chileqiles , barbacoa, and mexican potatoes. I have never been a barbacoa fan but our server brought us a small sample and I absolutely loved it. It's too overpriced so we don't eat here as often. There are many nearby Mexican restaurants that are open for dine in and are cheaper. First time here, I boldly made the decision to give this place a solid 5 stars. The food was damn good and exactly what I wanted on a San Antonio Saturday Morning. I got the pork chop plate and man were those things good and flavorful. The tortillas were nice and fluffy and hot and the tea was fresh and cold. I tried some of the bacon my guy had on his plate, that was good too. The Big Red in those big plastic to-go cups hit the spot! It was a bit of a wait as they were really busy and the prices were a few dollars more than you would see most other "taqueria" type places but still worth it. We came in for a breakfast around 8 am on a Tuesday morning. My mother and I visited about 3 hours chit-chatting as we ate and had coffee. The decor was very pretty, a lot of natural lighting. Very clean. They received a great health score that is posted next to the checkout counter. The service was good. A little slow on refills but she was busy with other tables. So we understood. When we made eye contact with her, she would come immediately after she was finishing with her previous tables. The food came out really fast. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture of the food. We shared a Gringo plate ( 2 eggs and pancakes) and we both later ordered a taco. FYI - the tacos are a really good size! If I knew they were that big I wouldn't have ordered one! Haha The ONLY complaint I have is that this is a decent size restaurant with only 1 bathroom for women and 1 bathroom for men. I waited several minutes before I could use the restroom on a slow Tuesday morning. I hate to see the line on a busy weekend. I plan to come back again! First waitress seemed offended that I asked for a glass of ice, forgot so I had to remind her and then all of a sudden she wasn't our waitress anymore.
