Found this when looking for a farm to table option. Idk how much is farm to table, I do wish there was more info on ingredient sourcing as it's always impressive to hear when a restaurant/staff can educate where everything was sourced from. The menu seems to be thought out. It's not a bunch of ingredients tossed together because it sounds cool on paper. The ingredients complement each other and play well together. Super impressive tinkering with flavor profiles going on in the kitchen. Speaking of, we sat in view of the kitchen. They run a well oiled machine back there and they looked effortless as they churned out dish after dish. This is clearly a staff that knows what they're doing. We had the Brussels sprouts (which are addicting), Galbijjim Cappelletti (short rib was cooked perfectly), sirloin (jalapeño lime gastrique can't put into words). Even the cocktails were superb and well thought out. It's great to know that the menu will change and will have so many more reasons to visit. Avoid sitting at the bar if you can though. It was a nice experience being waited on by our knowledgeable bartender but it was an uncomfortably stuffy situation. read more

Tinker street was an overall great experience from start to finish. The inside is quaint and modern with a classy feel. Upon being seated a sommelier came to our table with small glasses of champagne to introduce herself and help with any questions on the wine list. She helped me pick a great wine to go with my meal and super friendly! For our meals we got the Sakura pork belly which I loved and had so much flavor. Sometimes I don't love pork belly because it's too much fat but this dish had a substantial amount of meat and the sauce was a soy/Tamari tasting one that was great. Someone also got the burger and gnocchi which I didn't try but they both really enjoyed as well. To finish off the meals we got the donuts with espresso ice cream that was a nice finishing touch that wasn't too heavy as well. read more

This place is in the downtown area but has good parking in their lot. We sat outside, reminded me of NYC outdoor seating with enclosed area and heat lamps, they even have blankets if needed. Service was exceptional and the food was awesome. We enjoyed the Korean tacos for an appetizer and Short Ribs and Fish, I would have enjoyed more potatoes/carrots as side vs root vegetable but that's my own preference. Tinker Street is our ultimate romantic date spot in Indy. Located on a secluded neighborhood street, just steps away from the city, this quaint restaurant has the most amazing ambiance inside or outside. You can tell the staff here takes a lot of pride in their wine and food recommendations, sharing every detail of the menu. My favorite is how they start you off with a little sparkling wine because you can always find a reason to celebrate! While I try to explore the menu, I can't stay away from the pork belly. This has been on my "to try" list for what feels like forever, and what a better time to try it than Valentine's Day. It absolutely lived up to the hype and my expectations. I rarely comment on service, because it isn't a huge deal for me, but the service here was above and beyond. Everyone was kind, attentive, and helpful. Our waitress was particularly awesome - I wish I had caught her name so I could give her a shout out. The food was sincerely some of the best I've had in a long time. I got the Pork Belly and my boyfriend got the Center Cut Sirloin. Everything was seasoned well and had layers of flavor. We were both extremely pleased with our meals. We also ordered the Valentines Day dessert special, featuring red velvet cake, a chocolate strawberry, and hazelnut ice cream. It wasn't quite what we expected, and it was just okay. I'm more interested in these ricotta doughnuts I've heard so much about. I'll have to check those out next time. Overall, this is a great date night or special occasion spot. I was so happy to finally dine here! Our party of 5 sat out in the covered patio and it was warm and cozy. They put blankets on the seats in case it's too cold but we didn't need to use them. We started with a complimentary champagne toast (ginger beer for those who don't/cant drink atm) which was a nice touch! Service was impeccable. Our waters were constantly filled and the table was wiped down between courses. Our table started with the fried mushrooms and oysters. The mushroom dish was delicious! I loved the pickled kimchi and radishes. I had the sirloin as my entree and it was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of kick with the jalapeños. Everyone at our table seemed to really like their food. Two people had the duck and dumplings and loved the texture of the dumplings. We ended the meal with the ricotta donuts with espresso ice cream and it was perfection! I would come just for that dish alone. We ate here for a birthday celebration on a Monday and I was surprised at how busy it was. There was a nice energy without being loud. Our server was so nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The four of us all got different things: the sirloin, Mahi-Mahi (Barramundi was sold out), Pork Belly and a daily special of spaghetti and beef tip sauce. They were all good, but the only one I tried that wowed me and made me regret not ordering it was the Pork Belly. My sister loved it. The Mahi was fine, just nothing exciting and maybe needed a little acid. I do want to come back next time we are in there mood for something upscale. All the staff was extremely friendly, and we were seated on a nice covered patio. The waitress was very helpful, and explained the menu and specials well. Having Tinker Street in walking distance is a BLESSING because holy crap guys- RUN.. DONT WALK! Tinker is a good special occasions spot with delicious food and a curated menu. Expect to pay $20-$40 a plate without drinks but oh my goodness was- it's worth it! I got the shrimp and grits which the waitress told us was a tinker classic- would suggest! After doing a Yelp search for vegan options in the near downtown a friend and I decided to try this spot which was new for us. I called and made a reservation just in case, and was able to easily place it with a very kind hostess. The restaurant is on 16th Street and has a small one way parking lot to the east and north of the building. I found a spot but others might need to do street parking on a side street during a busy hour. It is a cute older building with the entrance on the west side of the building off the side street. There were several doors to enter and once we entered the main space we were immediately greeted and welcomed. The hostess stand was in what must be an outside space in better weather but now was heated a kind of heated porch. We were taken to a two top table in another section which was very high end cafe//bistro like in ambience. I loved the lights all around which seemed to make it feel very festive. Our waitress gave us a free cava shot to celebrate the New Year which was a lovely start to the evening. They have an extensive wine, cocktail etc menu but we went straight for the food items. The menu changes seasonally and is smaller, but the options are very tantalizing. They have a soup which is changed but is always vegan so that's a delight! My friend ordered Brussels sprouts and a small salad which I had the pumpkin ravioli as I try to get things I'm not sure I could recreate at home. While waiting our water glasses were almost magically filled over and over, and the service was simply amazing. The music playing was retro a bit which I liked if a touch loud for chatting easily. However the overall feel was chic and yet relaxed. Our food was perfect and I have to say the pumpkin butter and sauce on my ravioli (and high was vegan also) was to die for in taste. I couldn't believe it and kept having to put down my utensils to proclaim how good it was to my friend! We ate slowly and the space wasn't too full so we felt we had distance from others easily. The prices were what you would expect for downtown in a newer church spot with both meals coming in at around $30. I did get though with my ravioli the most exquisite trifle of sorbet with crystallized mint on top. I'm not normally a dessert person but this was just the right amount of sweet and made in house which I love! It is a good romantic spot or fun night out if you like wines or trying new foods. Tinker Street was amazing. The restaurant was so lovely and whimsical, we got sat 20 minute earlier than our reservation. The hostess had the cutest makeup and recommendations for stores nearby, in addition to asking if we had been there before. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing as well. The GM came by our table to chat with us for a minute and he was so nice, making sure the tables were happy. Because it was Valentine's Day weekend, we got a small Prosecco taste as an aperitif. We were so happy to get a reservation and return after a couple years to this place. You definitely wanna make sure you have a reservation because we had one at five and by the time 5 o'clock hit there was already a line out the door for people to come in. We were greeted with four shots of complimentary champagne. I had a small selection of craft cocktails but a good menu of beers and wines my martini was made perfectly the way I like it. We ordered the appetizer special they added an extra for five dollars it was a spaghetti squash special very delicious I would say pretty small for the amount of money you're paying for it but highly recommend it. We also got the oyster that were on the menu - wowowow the flavor! Get them, I've never had an oyster so delicious. I got the gnocchi and added the mushrooms that were a special there weren't that many in there which was a little disappointing but the flavor and the gnocchi was so so good highly recommend that dish My mother-in-law ordered the shrimp and grits and she's vegetarian so you're allowed to get it without the ham which was great, the food that she got was not very warm, the waiter took it back and brought it back out at an excellent temperature and he also comped it which was not necessary but very nice of them to do, because nobody likes a cold plate! My husband got the pork belly that's on the menu and my father-in-law got the pork belly that was a special both are amazing I think I preferred the one that was on the menu versus the special the flavor on it was absolutely divine. Then to wrap up we got the cornbread dessert as well as the donuts and both were fabulous, highly recommend. (If you've had the vida donuts don't go into thinking it would be the same, two different styles of donuts but both amazing!). So all in all, make sure you get a ressy, expect it to be busy! Had a fantastic Thursday evening dinner at Tinker Street. I wish I discovered Tinker Street when I lived in Indiana, but I'm still glad I discovered it sooner rather than later - thanks to Yelp! We had the: *Fried Brussel Sprouts (House Made Almond Dukkah Spice, Dijon Vinaigrette, Caramelized Onion): I love the dukkah and the warm and complex flavor it adds. I've never had it on Brussels but I enjoyed it! The dijon vinaigrette was a nice touch of acidity to help break up the flavors. *Baked Raclette (Smoking Goose City Ham, Roasted Potatoes, Honeycrisp Apples, Cornichons, Baguette): I wish this were the wedge of raclette served tableside BUT it was still tasty in the mini skillet. Nice share plate for all to pick at! *Pumpkin Gnocchi (Pumpkin Pesto, Pumpkin Puree, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Brown Butter, sage, Parmesan): Love the fall flavors of this!! The gnocchi was also a perfectly pillowy texture. *Sakura Pork Belly (Red Cabbage Kimchi, Forbidden Rice, Sorghum-Tamari Glaze, Duck Egg, Scallion): Very bold flavors, but still well-balanced! I just had to make sure I ate the gnocchi before I ate this. The pork belly had a beautiful glaze and crust. The richness helped balance out the duck egg. I'm usually not a duck egg fan, but all the flavors on the plate made it work! *S'more Pot De Creme (smoked chocolate ganache, house made marshmallow fluff, hickory, vegetable ash): This is apparently one of the few items that has continued to stay on the menu. I can see why - it was fantastic. A lovely modern twist on a classic, family favorite. I also loved that I tried a Macedonian wine for the first time. It was surprisingly well-rounded and balanced! All the food and wine for two people came out to be $50/pp but we were STUFFED and it was incredibly food, so all in all - worth it! It has a parking lot, but it's tiny! Wow, I honestly cannot wait to go back!! I came here with some friends for Devour last week and may have found my new favorite restaurant. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table which was fine because they have a nice community table to wait at, and servers come around offering drink service. I started with the Pate, which I don't usually eat, but cleaned my plate as it was so delicious. My main course was the shrimp and grits which was outstanding. For dessert I had something with apples, can't really remember because I was already so full at that point. My friend ordered the s'more dessert and the marshmallow on top tasted like we were around a campfire. Although this is on the pricier side, it is worth it. Food quality is outstanding and service was wonderful. I love a place that always makes sure my water glass is full, without having to ask. read more

Let me preface my comments by saying Tinker Street remains one of the best restaurants in the city. The reason is owners, Tom Main and Braedon Kellner and their incredible staff. You always feel like your a welcomed friend amoung friends. As is normal, Tom and Braedon was in the dining area, greeting guests and "friends". The First Lady of Tinker Street was opening the door and guiding guests to the hostess counter. Braedon has his kitchen well trained putting his incredible creations out in superior fashion. And the food....... It was outstanding. We enjoyed the Devour Menu and had the Pate De Campagne, Miso mushroom soup, Indiana Mushroom Stroganoff and Chopped Steak. I don't know how Braedon can develop such exciting tastes with common entrees. The sauces/gravys were unforgettably flavorful. If you haven't been recently, be aware they now accept reservations which is a must on weekends and they serve cocktails in addition to wine and ciders. And what defines unequaled service more than when the owner chef thanks you and personally gets your coats. read more

We stopped at Tinker Street last night after Yelp's Totally Bazaar 2018. This place has been on my want to try list for a little while. The parking was not the easiest with a four wheel drive truck during the holidays downtown but we found a spot and made our way toward the restaurant. As we walked up on this cold night there were contained flames and pretty lights on the outside of the restaurant. Moving to the inside we were promptly greeted and shown to a table. It was very busy it was a Saturday night. I will say right now if you don't like close company while you are eating then you won't like this place. Although we did end up with very nice people on either side of us and had conversations with both making it very pleasant. We were greeted at the table by the sommelier and they poured us a small complimentary glass of sparkling wine akin to Prosecco. This is a great way to start a meal. We ordered the Tator Tots & Caviar with green garlic creme fraiche, pickled shallots, paddlefish caviar, and chives. That sounded really good on the menu but I didn't find that it had much flavor so I will not order that item again. It was pretty when they brought it to the table though. The next item that we got was the Fried Brussel Sprouts they were with a house made almond dukkah spice, Dijon vinaigrette, and caramelized onions. Loved These! The last time we ordered were the Shrimp and Grits they had grits, tasso ham, a pretty spicy bisque, and green tomato chow-chow. We liked this dish too although it may have been a tiny bit spicy for my palate. The grits were absolutely cooked perfectly. We did not save room for dessert on this trip but we do plan on going back again. The bill for those three items and a coke and water came up to about $67 before the tip. read more

My first time trying Tinker Street and it definitely lived up to the hype. I made my reservations for a Friday night about 4-5 days in advance on the Yelp app. At that point there was only 5:45 or earlier and 8:30 or later as options. So definitely plan to eat here in advance! The menu was small but mighty! We each got a cocktail that was absolutely delicious! I got the seasonal shake up which was like a boozy lemonade shake up from the state fair with a hint of orange. My friend got the Big Love which was a Smokey tequila drink. Both were around $10. For appetizers we got the mushroom dumplings and the peach and beer buratta. Amazing! The dumplings were a special but the buratta is always on the menu. For a main course, I got the pork belly and my friend got the shrimp and grits. The pork belly was SO GOOD. Due to dietary restrictions I was able to swap the rice for carrots. It had the same ginger glaze as the dumplings. *chef kiss* Our waitress was 10/10. She was so interpersonal and cute! She had lots of recommendations for our first time.
