Every time I come eat here, I have to ask for a server, I get ignored and my order gets cooked wrong. Today I finally complained and decided to write an honest review about the services I've received there. I actually had to wipe my hands on my shirt (good thing I was in my work shirt) and use my hands to eat because I was given no silverware or napkins and when I asked for them I was only given one napkin and they still forgot the silverware. I couldn't even get a coaster for my beer and the napkin got soaked from the condensation of the beer. I asked for guacamole and the kids brought it in the bowl with his dinner in the guac. I complained about that and she just laughed. I always tip my servers but today I didn't tip anything. Not sorry. Only one star because I had to add a rating to post, but I don't even think they deserve the one star. read more

We had been coming here for over 20 years. When the owners stopped being there about 10 years ago the quality of the food and service went downhill and we stopped going. We are moving out of town so thought we would give it one last try. Our waitress didn't come to the table for what seemed like 10 minutes. Once she did she was pretty good after that. The food tasted about like we remembered but it was not hot. My biggest complaint is that I found long strand of hair in my food TWICE. It was either in the rice or the beans. YUCK! read more

Finally order, get food and then never see the server again. Empty water glass. Empty salsa bowl. No ticket. Have to stand in line and point out the server to get my ticket. Menu consists of American food (I.e, steak, chicken fried steak, T-bone, hamburger) as well as $10 bean nachos and overpriced cheese enchiladas and a menu of 1 taco with rice and beans for $10. I ordered a smothered beef burrito and it's a tortilla draped in a block of Velveeta cheese. I was expecting green or red enchilada sauce. Don't think I'll eat it. It's a Saturday night and there are people at four tables yet they're running around like a chicken wIth their heads cut off. Weird. If I had to relive this night over, I would have had better luck at Taco Bell. Stick to Abuelos or somewhere else for real Mexican food. read more

I'm not sure why this place has such low reviews. My friend has been insisting that we try this place since arriving in Midland and since today was our last day in town we finally made our way over. It was great. It was pretty crowded when we got there at lunch time but our party of four was promptly seated and given chips and salsa. The salsa was really good and spicy. I ordered the chicken flautas meal which came with two flautas, rice, beans, guacamole. It also had some boiled peppers and tomatoes that were delicious. My friend insisted we try sopapilas. They're like fried tortillas with sugar and cinnamon on top and they give you butter and honey to put on top of them. They're only $1.50 each and they were delicious. I mean seriously goooood. Our waitress was very friendly and polite and we never had to ask for drink refills because they were on point. They had sweet tea too and it was just how I like it. I'm a fan. Nothing bad to say about the place. It's not high-class but it was a good hometown Mexican food place which is just how I like them. read more

First time in awhile. Stopped by for lunch. They were busy, but it seemed our waitress wasn't covering our table well. Though we had our drinks quickly, along with fresh chips and salsa, it took awhile for her to take our orders, as another waitress brought additional chips and salsa! Once our orders were placed, our wait seemed longer than normal, simple enchiladas, a quesadilla, combo nachos, and a salad. When we got our food, it was tasty and hot, though the quesadilla was beef instead of chicken. We will return. The salsa varied from hot to just right, as in medio to medio-caliente. I ordered 2 enchiladas and chili relleno. I figured..how much can it be? no rice and beans ....and a water. The enchiladas were skinny and bland and the chili relleno was ok. When I got my bill it was 15 and change. I asked the waitress why so expensive..she said "inflation". Geez. Really? 4 dollars for each enchilada and 6 dollars for the chili relleno plus tax. Love this place! Everything is good. Not to spicy. I have had just about everything and it has all been good. Even my kids like to eat there. This is not Yankee food. It is Texas food. You can eat at other Mexican food places in Midland, they all have at least one thing on the menu you can eat. It's been years since we've eaten at Dos Compadres in Midland. Not sure why, probably because we found other good places much closer to our house. Regardless, we finally went back and were pleasantly surprised that the service was excellent, and the food was good and hot. I had chicken fajitas, my wife had deluxe nachos. The one is midland is decent. However the one in Odessa is horrible. Nobody at our table enjoyed their food. I understand that inflation effects the prices. But, it shouldn't effect the portion size. My enchiladas was really disgusting. I wanted to push my plate away. But, I didn't want to be rude. I will say that the egg helped make the enchiladas barely edible. read more

Been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's absolutely the best. I no longer live in Midland and cannot find a Mexican restaurant to compare in my area. It's a must stop each time I go home to visit family. The queso is delicious, I can not say enough good things about their cheese enchiladas and their mushroom fajitas are to die for. I've had many of the other dishes and have enjoyed each and every one. The staff is always super nice as well. I'm actually considering flying home for a day just to eat lunch here some day. This is a classic Midland spot, I remember going here growing up. I ordered the supreme nachos bc it's my go to when I'm not sure what I want to eat. You can hardly ever mess these up, they proved this correct here. My mom got the chile rellenos which is her favorite and what she gets everytime she goes to a Mexican joint. If you're looking for classic tex mex that won't leave you feeling too awful after, this spot is good. Usually I love it while I eat it and hate myself afterwards (most places use lard or pork in their beans which kills me) this spot is pretty clean. The salsa is tasty and fresh but I could stand it w bit hotter. If you're in a hurry, this place is good eats, inexpensive and quick. The service is prompt and attentive as well. read more

Happy to have finally found a Mexican restaurant that makes good food! The salsa was the best I've had in midland! We have been trying out a bunch of different places and this passes them all up. Abuelos and all those other fancy popular places are only big because of the big fancy building. The food is AWEFUL there but HERE the food is real and they aren't skimpy with the meat, the drinks are amazing as well! So happy we found our new place! Customer service was great! Would be 5 stars but service in a Friday night was awful, we were a large group of 7 and didn't mind do much since we wanted plenty of time to chat and drink beer but we got there at 7, ordered promptly, and weren't served until 8pm. A Pitcher of beer and 2 margaritas kept us chilled out and the salsa was fresh and delicious, so overall we were happy despite the good wait. The staff apologized many times for the wait so at least they recognized they were taking forever.
