Stumbled upon this taco place while visiting the new Riverside Library. The outside decor was interesting and there was a line outside so my bf and I decided to check it out. We entered and there were more decor, menu posted up above, and indoor as well as outdoor dining area. Ordering was super easy so started off to a good start. I ordered watermelon Fresca and carnitas plate at 12 noon and our order number was 53. Then everything went downhill fast. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would due to the following: 1. While waiting for our food inside my bf got stung several times with mosquitos 2. Waited 10 minutes for my drinks and no one came. I had to go up to the front snd they didn't even know my order so I told them medium watermelon Fresca 3. 30 minutes later we are still waiting for our food. Other customers behind us already got their food. 4. Order number was 53 and the staff walked around with our supposed carnita plate. I asked him if it was our order and he said no problem he's looking for order 43. He walked around twice and nothing. Then we proceeded to front counter again and they said our order was ready and then we asked what number. They still said 43. When we showed them the receipt they said they gave us the wrong order number so this was our plate. Then we asked if we can get a fresh plate and we got a stink face. 10 minutes later they came back and dropped off the plate. My bf asked if this was freshly prepared and they said they just reheated it with microwave. Totally unacceptable!!! 5. Slow customer service and very apparent that staff didn't know what they were doing. We asked for a refund and they weren't happy about it but heck we waited 40 minutes and was still super hungry. We'd scoped out the food court down the street, but nothing caught our eye--until we saw the line at Tio's. A long line always promises good eats, right? Or so we thought. My second time here and my Husband & Family wanted to try. This is a I treating place with creative recycled material art. The service is great. The people are friendly and there margarita's and Agua Fresca are the bomb. But the food is mediocre. We tried ordered the chicken flautas , menudo, shrimp soup and pastor torta. The flautas came with beans and rice which were pretty tasty. The flautas were more tortilla and only half of it was filled with chicken. They are okay but definitely wouldn't order again. We love menudo so we wanted to try and I would definitely not order again. The meat had a taste as if it had not been washed right. Making menudo you have to wash it right so it doesn't have that cow taste. The flavor of the chili was bland mO matter how much we tries to fix it up with lime and onion , cilantro. The shrimp Soup was bland. Shrimp was over cooked and dry. We didn't even eat half because it was not good. The pastor torta was different. I love pastor and order at many places but this had a different flavor to it. It Was very dark brown and it did not wow me at all. Overall we were disappointed in the dishes we chose. Of all we ordered the best part was the mango margarita, agua Fresca and chips and salsa. The art is definitely cool and good place for photos but don't expect the food to wow you. The food was good but if you are a tourist it's hard to figure out the building on your first trip and employees felt bothered when asking for directions. Which is fine if you just want to cater to locals. We parked in the parking lot of the restaurant and you have to weave your way through the outdoor dining area to order inside. The menu is on the larger side so takes longer to read to decided on choices and we were rushed a little. Otherwise fun experience. Hopefully will go back where employees are in a better more helpful mood. read more

Wow! I grew up in the IE and I never knew about Tio's Tacos! I recently visited a friend and she brought me here and I am so glad that she did! Go for the art, stay for the food! Walking around the gardens was fun and I enjoyed seeing all of the creations! I got the flauta plate, an al pastor taco, and Horchata. You better believe I ate that up! Atmosphere was great, chips and salsa were great and the choices you have for Augua Frescas were great, but that was it. Food was trash. We ordered Nacho Fries and Chiliquiles. Fries were cold and soggy, and tasteless. The Chiliquiles were ok eggs were over cooked and crispy, rice was so salty and beans were rick hard like they were put in the microwave to warm up. Definitely do not recommend unless you want a good Agua Fresca only. read more

The lady who took our food order put the wrong order number on our ticket. When you enter this taco Haven, the workers warn you that it will take 45 minutes to prepare the food because it is made fresh. It took us over an hour and a half to get the meal because of the mixed up order numbers. When we went back to talk to the manager and explain that our food was cold because of the mixup of the ticket number, The only thing that the manager suggested was to warm the food up. But wait a minute?! We were told the food was made fresh to order how can you warm it up? The questions was asked, then the person replied well we can remake it for you ,but we already had waited over an hour and a half and it was a party of three and a total came to $75 for not so Sept-taco-lar meal. We declined the offer. However the owner and artist of this establishment goes Taco big! or Taco home! His sculptures are nothing short of amazing, and you can really see some of the personality of the artist through the work. It takes two to taco and the ambiance is what had me at Taco. read more

I've been wanting to go to this place for the longest. The atmosphere with all the art made from random things is what caught my eye. It's super nice to sit outside in the patio area where they have many options to choose from. Overall this place was pretty good. The food was pretty good and had lots of flavor! They definitely fill up your tacos and I did like the carne asada! I usually don't get carne asada when I go places cause it's usually dry but there's was pretty good. What I loved was the salsa bar with all the options! The pickled habanero red onions were SO GOOD! I do wish the salsas were a little bit more spicier; They didn't have any spice! This cute taco shop was recommended to us by a friend of ours . So glad we tried this place bc it did not disappoint! First thing I noticed about this place is the amazing decor! this place is pretty big! They have indoor & outdoor seating. The menu is alright they have decent options to choose from warming this place is kind of pricey! I got the Mole enchiladas plate, and my Stud got the Chile rellino burrito. I enjoyed my playe I thought everything was tasty! My stud muffin on the other hand didn't enjoy his burrito so much. He's a picky guy. The chips and salsas were good. Wife said if I am to leave a review to be nice...so this is the "nice" review. Ordered the chiles rellenos and 3 soft tacos. Daughter had the chicken nuggets. Don't know how old the taco meat was but sure didn't look or taste fresh. I didn't know you could screw up chiles rellenos but they did. Even the ranch dressing for the nuggets tasted sour as if it's past its shelf life. We've been to many bad restaurants but this by far is the worse of the worst. Sorry Wifee, can't be PC or nice about this review...the place was just awful. Perhaps being Mexican ourself having higher standards for basic Mexican food, I would have imagined this place may have a chance but the only good thing about this place is the novelty of all the odd art features. So if you're in it for the art come, but don't expect good food. If you want decent food go across the street to the food lab. Way better! Ordered the shrimp taco with rice and beans, I don't think I've ever had a shrimp taco with so much flavor, the shrimp was perfectly cooked! The only down side was they were charging $6.99 for one taco, no rice no beans! My boyfriend ordered the hard shell shredded beef tacos he loved them!! Don't even get me started on the Agua Fresca!! Outside dining is available in their large outdoor dining area, be prepared for a long wait. It was very busy and I was told that is the norm no matter what day you go. It took an hour for our food, but the wait wasn't too bad with all the interesting things to see. I had the cheese enchiladas with mole sauce, rice and beans. The enchiladas were good, the mole sauce was very enjoyable. The rice was also very good. I'm not much of a fan of refried beans, so I can't really give much of an opinion on the beans. We also ordered a chile relleno a la carte which was very good. By far the best I've had in a long time, and a shrimp taco. The shrimp had good flavor, the salsa was very tasty. Came to Fox theater for a show. Happened to see this neat little place. We loved the outside and the ambience. The minions on the roof along with the neat tree drew us in. I usually like this spot but I have a regular order I get, I tried their chilequiles and was not impressed. Not sure how they can mess this up but they used old tostada shells instead of your classic fried tortillas. What you see is basically what was left from what I ate. A bacon breakfast burrito 2 cheese enchiladas Flautas with chicken Carne asada fries Chicken nachos Carne asada burrito Chips and salsa... To start off, the girl Lia behind the counter is super rude. She asks like we were a bother being there. I thought it was just us at first, but she was like that with the people behind us as well. (I know that because I was waiting for my drinks. After ordering we had to wait over 45 mins to get our food. 45!!! When my boyfriend went to complain, they said they had a huge party they were trying to serve. Which I understand, the issue was the party got there after us and the 2 people behind us. Also, the 2 behind us got their food before we got ours as well. The breakfast burrito was for my 12 year old, he said it was pretty good. The cheese enchiladas were for my 9 year old, they put chicken in them even though I asked for only cheese... I returned them. Flautas we're for me, I order flautas almost everywhere I go, but this place makes them with corn tortillas rather than flour.. they were super greasy with no flavor. Carne asada fries and burrito were for my boyfriend, the burrito had no flavor with hard pieces of meat inside.. The nachos had lettuce on them... no you didn't read that wrong.. NACHOS had lettuce on them.. WTF! We didn't eat them at all. My boyfriends mom got nachos, she gets nachos almost everywhere we go... just like the fries, the nachos had lettuce! I can't! They were disgusting! Chicken was shredded with no flavor! Chips and salsa were fine I guess.. they are not spicy at all. The green salsa has a funny taste. We came to celebrate my mom's birthday. However, the experience was frustrating. Upon arrival, my mom and dad waited in the long line like everyone else. When they reached the front of the line, she asked the employee if she can find a table and then order because we're waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The female employee stated yes and stated she wouldn't have to wait in line again since she already did. In reliance on the employee's representation, we found a table. Once the rest of our party arrived we went to the front to order. However, the staff told my mom she needed to wait in the long line again, denied that the female employee worked there, and refused to let us speak to a manager. So we had to wait in the long line twice! We confirmed later that the same female employee did in fact work there because she was speaking to other staff in the kitchen. Last time I checked, only employees who work there can be in the kitchen. So not only did the staff make us wait in the long line twice, but they misrepresented that the female employee worked there and refused to let us speak to a manager. That is shady! read more
