This was my first time coming here with my friend who recommended this place. First of all, I loved the butterflies in the parking lot and the butterfly entrance through the back. Came here for dinner for my friends birthday! The place itself is really cute and very, very different. Definitely grabs your attention! There are big skeleton by the entrance a lot of big art around the place! It's like walking through an outdoor art museum! So cool, so different! For parking the parking they have their is like firing into a private entrance and it's small and really tight. You can park in the street by the home and I believe it after 5 pm that there's no time limit. Before that it's a 2 hour time limit. The food was okay, I ordered two fish tacos and they were really big, just not as flavorful. The drink though! That's a different story! I ordered a tamarindo margarita and as soon as I sipped it I can taste the alcohol but at the same time it was still sweet and flavorful. I could not get through the whole drink and it got to me! Tios is amazing. The entire place is decorated in some fascinating artwork. Truly incredible. It takes awhile to walk around and see everything. Do yourself a favor and plan for it. I ordered tacos. Two carnitas, one shrimp and one cabeza. They were fresh, bigger than I expected and delicious. The shrimp tacos were the best but the carnitas were a close second. I would do them all again but it is a lot of food. My niece ordered a platter of fresh oysters. They came with a couple of sauces that were pretty good. One was quite sweet. An iconic restuarants just a couple of blocks away from the Riverside food and game lab. Definitely a cool place to grab lunch and take a walk around their courtyard. They are known for their unique art displays and is a great spot for Instagram photos. Their food is also really great and they have some delicious agua frescas. This place is all about the ambience hands down. Pretty cool sitting outside and enjoying the art all around. It is Interesting how the artist repurposes common things to make art. Lots of outdoor seating which is really nice. Tried their shrimp tacos and they were okay. Nothing to rave about which is disappointing because I have been looking forward to trying this place. Nice weekend Food spot to go to with the family. We came around one and it wasn't too busy. There was a beautiful ambience with all the artwork sculptures that they had there. A lot of them were old it didn't seem like there were too many new pieces but the kids enjoyed their time looking around, the outside area in the back wasn't crowded it was shaded well and there was a cool breeze from all the recycled material. I would've thought there would have been a smell or flies but there wasn't it was quite pleasant. The food was OK,we had tacos basic, a little over fried shells and Carne Asada fries that were just ok but there salad were pretty good, and the Aguascalientes Fresca's were delicious, if you're looking for a place to go to look at some neat stuff and just get out of the house. Plenty to see out in the patio art made of junk very ethnic culture art and vibe. I had the hard shell tacos, my friend had nachos very delicious, but the sope was dense, hard to chew as if old masa was used I don't recommend the sopes. The food was delicious and their aguas are top tier they remind me of when I would go to Sinaloa mexico when I was younger Two stars only for the service the two young girls that work there were rude and I think they were making fun of me but I couldn't tell you why and what caused them to act like this it sucks cause I was just ordering normally and I asked if they had taquitos and any Latina would know that taquitos are made of corn so I had asked if they had any and she rudely said "YOU MEAN FLOUTAS" and I was just like yeah just give me the those cause she came off rude off the bat and I didn't feel like arguing with her but no girl floutas are made of flour and I wasn't looking for them I was looking for the corn roller taquitos but she also proceeds to give me a lesson on how rolled taquitos are "actually floutas" but I knew she was wrong I just let her go on with her arrogance because I know the teen girls that were ordering before me were being rude to her as well but still don't take it out on me and give me a lesson on my culture assuming I'm white and making me feel stupid for no reason so thanks girl I'm very worried about how others treat me so I was just put off from ordering here all together I'll just come back for the aguas read more

First timer here, ordered chips, salsa and guacamole for a Super Bowl party. DISAPPOINTED! $10.00 for a portion that could have fed one! I asked for a container for salsa. No container for the salsa, was told to go to the the salsa bar and obtain the salsa in the very small condiment container. The serving spoon for the salsa was the size of a teaspoon. The chips were good but the small paper bag was not even full. Guacamole was average. Not worth the price and I left without filling up 20 small teaspoon sized salsa cups. The place- is intriguing but it's borderline junkyard. Everything is in poor condition and dirty. Tables and chairs all dusty. Didn't see any staff cleaning at any time. Almost stepped on a crushed roach while walking to our table. The food-is bland and poor quality. We tried a lot. The huevos rancheros tasted like nothing. The chorizo and eggs were sooo burned! I wish I took a picture but just imagine crushed Oreos with a few pieces of brown burned egg. The beans and rice were okay and edible. The potato tacos tasted like onion; the potato and salsa had no flavor so you just taste mushy something with onion. The chicken taco tasted like boiled chicken with no seasonings. The carne asada tacos looked like little strips of ground beef and was super rubbery-so disgusting. The mild green salsa from the salsa bar was okay. The horchata tasted like concentrate and had a weird after taste. As we were walking out, my 2 year old said "no we need to eat" this was after we "ate". Was a waste of $55. We stopped by Tio Taco's after visiting The Cheech Center to have dinner before the Festival of Lights. The amazing recycled art here is ridiculously cool. I think Tio's Tacos is worth stopping by just to see Martin Sanchez's work--it really goes to show anything can be made out of bottles, cans, oyster shells, scrap metal...the list goes on. The food, however, was kind of run of the mill. I know that ordering seafood at a Mexican place is generally hit or miss unless the place is known for great seafood, so I guess I made a faux pas. I was craving a campechana, so I got that, as well as a shrimp burrito. The shrimp burrito had more rice than shrimp and was pretty salty, The campechana was generous in portion (it was 20 bucks) but I was kind of disappointed that the so-called 'crab' ended up just being surimi. :/ read more

Usually I really like the food here. The past few times it's been lacking. Yesterday I came with my son We ordered pastor tacos for him and a side of rice and beans. No onion or cilantro came on the tacos. They didn't ask if we didn't want it, they just didn't put any on. The meat wasn't pastor, when I looked at receipt it said asada. I clearly asked for pastor. I got the 2 sopes plate, I did get asada. The meat on my sons plate and mine looked the same. The meat grossed me out. The texture of it was unlike anything I've ever seen. It was a cross between ground beef and asada. I'm picking through it like is this something else? I couldn't finish my plate. My stomach was turned I tried to eat my rice and beans and the rice tasted like leftover rice from day before that was pulled from fridge. It was stone cold. I don't think I'll be eating here again.
