I realize that I had an unfinished review and I must apologize for this. I have become a long term standing patron of Tip Top Hamburgers now. It is a Mom and Pop kinda Joint that is a walk-in with interior and exterior seating. It is not a Tommy's Burger nor is it a Denny's... Actually it in itself is kind of a bit more with less... meaning they have several options, excellent portions, fairly quick in preparation, and pleasantly filling. This is one of those places that does it right! This place is definitely a landmine in my eyes of the small business eateries that offer a plethora of options on their menu from breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have never once been displeased going to this place. Sometimes you want good old fashion eats that ain't Mickey D's and you have no desire to head to a joint that has a 45 minute wait that requires a vibrating flashing beacon the size of a hockey puck just to get your bottom in a chair. I don't go her much, but when I do... It's always a good call!!! I have their Bacon Avocado Cheese Burger, Their BLT, their Gyros, their Dogs, their Steak Sandwich, Chili Cheese Fries, Bacon and Eggs with Hash Browns, their Chorizo and Egg Burrito, and I have had a variety of their Omelets. Fast forward about 10 years and I am now a carnivore on a mission. Having not had tip top burgers in years, I recently stopped in here with my boyfriend and we didn't know what to get so we just ordered a bunch of food. We ordered a philly cheesesteak, a bacon cheeseburger and chilli cheese fries. We shared everything and it was "Yum" across the board. The fries tasted like good diner fries that are just hard to mess up. They were the golden fried bed for a big meaty pile of chilli and gooey cheese. The burger was ridiculously good. It had a good char to it and great flavor. The bacon was thick cut and perfectly cooked. The burger was simple and delicious. Meat, cheese, bacon, shredded lettuce and tomato. The cheesestake was very good. The bread might have been a bit too big. If the filling would have been gooey or heavy then the bread to meat and cheese ratio would have been perfect but it was a lot of bread and not a lot of the stuff on the inside. The food is great, the people are exceptionally cool, and the prices are fairly cheap. Ive had the pastrami sandwich, pastrami burger, chili dog, breakfast burrito and corn dog. You cant really mess these items up so I cannot comment on how their "gourmet" items taste. Cool place to grab a quick bite, and theres nothing like seeing all the crap they have on the walls. My favorites are the super unknown actors who provided a head shot, and signed it thinking they would be huge stars one day. I'm a huge fan of the shredded lettuce - for someone who doesn't like an overabundance of flavor-drowning toppings on his burger, it really gives the sandwich body and a resounding, juicy crunch. The fries are also some of the best I've had in this area. I don't even know what it is about them, but they're crisp, potatoey, and plenty hot. I've always gotten my order to go, and they're still steaming when I get to my destination. One disappointment, I'll admit, is their so-called "Philly cheese steak". It's not that at all; it's essentially shredded beef scooped into a hot dog bun. One of the most important elements of a legitimate cheese steak is the roll, and the bread they use is thin and chewy, not soft and flaky like it should be. So yea, if you're craving a cheese steak, head further down the road to someplace that knows what they're doing. Otherwise, a great little lunch place. The parking lot is kind of screwy around lunch time on a weekday, so you might have to finagle a bit to get a spot. But once there, try out their burger! I can't believe everyone else reviewing doesn't :-( Then again I have never been to Philadelphia and had a real Philly so what do I know. . . . .well I know that I like it! I also like their cheeseburgers which are really big and their french toast is the bomb! All their stuff is a heart attack waiting to happen but of course that is why I love it so much and tastes so good.
