I've gotten my fave "The Mean Green" sandwich for pick up from Garden Cafe a few times but recently I actually dined in! They have SO much seating. Indoor and out. The patio is just gorgeous with flowers and lights. I had a beautiful lunch with my friend and enjoyed every bit of the Mean Green!!

My delicious lunch, grilled cheese short rib sandwich with the best potato salad!

My first time here. We were having a birthday lunch for my daughter. She has been here and always enjoyed her meals. I loved my food! 10 out of 10! Delicious. I am a potato salad lover and theirs was so tasty and filling! My short rib sandwich was thick and delicious! My daughter loves the Mac n cheese with short rib on top! It comes on a skillet! Beautiful patio with pink bougainvillea over head. The patio is the best place to eat. Limited parking in front is convenient. I will return!

Another visit for a last minute lunch with friends since we were in the area. Of course it's a hit or miss with the parking situation. It's a small lot so parking can be limited. It was full and the whole parking situation with the metered is a cluster fuck. Not part of the restaurant....lol... Found street parking along Moorpark which was only a little walk to the restaurant. There was a band setting up when we arrived which could also be the reason for a full parking lot. I overheard someone saying that certain days they have live music which is perfect as it's starting to heat up. Nice dining experience with live music. We ended up sitting inside for the ac which I would have love to be outside but it was fine. Breakfast had ended but the lunch menu was quite good. I've alway ordered at the counter each visit which I'm not even sure they have waitress service with order. After ordering, a number is give where it's placed on the table. As there was a couple of us, a few dishes was had. I alway go for the mimosas deal, 3 for the price of 2. Food, the Cobb salad which I forgot to add protein to it but it was still decent. That came with their vinaigrette dressing but a side of ranch was also asked for. The Brie and turkey sandwich with a side of the macaroni salad. Sandwiches were quite tasty with the toasted bread and how everything melted together. The burger which was pretty big in size. Tasty from what I was informed and served with a side of fries. Lastly, the avocado toast with tomatoes. Simple and cheerful. Plus you need an extra side order of streak fries with ranch. Both ketchup and their avocado dip was brought out as well. Food was good, the service was great. Both with the gal at the register and the waitress bringing out the food. It's pet friendly which is also nice to have the little pup with us. Forgot, they also have a nice display case of sweets on hand. And cookies that were massive. Clearly one was had before the meal. Sweets beforehand is always a good idea. Great service, nice drink, live music and a lovely crowd. What a nice way to enjoy lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.

After the Elite Experience at Ministry of Coffee, my son and I were very hungry and he suggested we come have lunch here. I'd never been here before but he said he had tried/enjoyed it once a few years ago. They have a few parking spaces in their lot and some metered parking along Woodman. It's a cute and cozy type of café with plenty of plants, strings of lights and nice jazz music playing. We were greeted by Sam and he recommended the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich ($22) so that's what I ordered. For my side, I got the House Garden Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette. My son ordered the Turkey Sandwich with the same salad as his side ($19). Honestly, I felt like the portions were appropriate but overpriced. Two sandwiches plus tax and tip came out to $54 which is kind of ridiculous. I thought mine tasted just okay. It was kind of greasy. I had a bite of my son's sandwich and liked his better than mine. He really liked it too, since he devoured the whole thing. I don't know, it's a decent place but I wasn't really feeling the energy here. It was pretty empty and I wasn't getting any lively, good vibes. No one came to check on us during our meal or to see if we needed anything else. They have one male and one female restroom and both were clean, as was the restaurant itself. I was thinking about ordering my son's sandwich to-go so I could eat it later, but it was just too pricey. As of now, I don't know if I will be back for a second time.

Cute little place in the valley! They forgot capers on my Benedict, we never got the menu so my husband had to go get it himself, we asked for water and they said "ok" but apparently it was self service but they didn't mention it until the second time we asked. But food was decent, fairly priced, and comfortable cute hideout feel seating. The food can use little more punch but we'd go back again.

    Not worth it!

1st time here (and probably last) Came on a Saturday 1/31/26 2pm I hardly leave low star reviews, but the service was not good and the food did not match the price tag. You order at the counter and they give you a number and you find a table. Once food is ready they bring it out. We had about two or three parties in front of us (not a lot) and it took a good amount of time to put in our order. Ordered 2 items, 2 drinks, plus tip $68 bucks and NOT WORTH IT (and I'm not a cheap person). Got the prime angus burger with cheese and steak fries $23 10/10 of flavor of burger! Fries were good but small amount (esp for paying $2 extra). Kicked Up Kale Caesar added chicken for $7 bucks, totaling $23. Definitely not worth it or paying $7 extra for 4 small pieces of chicken that were cold. Salad was not what I expected. It was just meh. Very disappointing. Iced tea $4 Coke $3.50 Left a 15% tip (which my hubby did and I wish he didn't) $8.81 Service was not great. And on top of that, you can leave a tip even before you receive any type of service (which hubby did w/out my knowledge). I don't like that. Burger came out first and salad came out waaaay after. We had to get up and ask about it. Not cool! Asked for an extra plate with the burger and one never came. Prices do not match what is given. I feel like I got robbed! I'm pretty disappointed. I expected better. It was a delicious burger (the only thing that stood out) but at $23 there are a lot of other places in LA I can get a delicious burger and fries for less. Salad was not a good Caesar salad. Chicken was a small amount and cold/dry. We sat outside in the patio. It was cute. Seems dog friendly which I like. I left here feeling not happy, dissatisfied, and disappointed. I totally feel like I wasted my money :-( I'm really upset!

This is one of the best restaurants in all of LA. The staff is always super friendly and they care about their customers. We grabbed lunch today and there was live music setting up for the eve as we left. The food was tasty! It's such a cute looking place! Great in the day to sit outside or in the evening for a good vibe!!! Thank u for always going above and beyond

Absolutely loved this café! The food was incredible, we ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad and the Viola Burger, and both were so fresh, flavorful, and the portions were big. Splitting them with a friend was the perfect choice! The staff was incredibly kind, especially the sweet woman who helped us and was so patient while I took forever to decide what to order. The patio is beautiful too, the flowers made it feel like a little Italian hideaway. Can't wait to come back!

How did all my local friends know about this place, but not me. Driving past, there is a sign, but otherwise it's set back, behind a gate, with parking in front. The lot is small and almost always full. The restaurant is walk up to order with food and drinks delivered to your table. After a couple visits, I can definitely say...I haven't had a dish I didn't like. The best surprise was the protien cookies. Both indoor and patio seating are available. There is often live music on the patio. Indoors, I find the lighting a bit dim. It is usually the quieter area to sit, better for holding a conversation. As mentioned above, there is a small parking lot. Metered street parking is also available, and some free street parking on the side street. With a pretty extensive menu, I can't wait to try more dishes.

We came here for a cute easy breakfast. I loved the setting. Very cute, relaxed. You order inside and they bring your food to your table. Definitely will be coming back. My crab cake Benedict's were awesome. The only thing was that the side of bacon was too cooked, I like my bacon softer. Will be coming back! Parking was limited but we were able to find street pairings

    Forest mushroom pizza?

Been here multiple times and loved it every time! Such a huge patio seating and indoor seating, which is nice to have both options in this area. We've gotten the chicken kebabs, fig and prosciutto pizza, forest mushroom pizza, broiled atlantic salmon, white truffle arugula fries, short rib fries, chicken kebab wrap, and the roasted beet salad (not all at the same time ;)) Their white truffle arugula fries are to die for!! Can't get enough of it. Atlantic salmon is not dry at all. Beet salad is refreshing and delicious. All of these portions are also pretty sizable, which we appreciate. The line to order can take a bit of time (esp when people don't know what they want), but then you get your number and sit wherever you'd like. I will warn that parking is VERY difficult esp on Friday and Saturday nights. I've spent at least 15 min every time circling for parking since the neighborhoods is permit only from 6pm or so. They have a very small parking lot, so you have to get lucky. This will always be one of my go to places!

Chicken Jidori Chicken and Brie Sandwich

My husband and I had a lovely lunch here. We found it thanks to Yelp, and it was perfect for our kid free afternoon. When you get inside you feel like you're somewhere completely different with all of the greenery surrounding you. They have plenty of seating options for different size groups. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well. The food was solid. I got the chicken fajitas with truffle fries and I started with hibiscus tea. The fajitas were very flavorful. It had tomato sauce on it which was delicious for the first bites but then the acidity got overwhelming. The sour cream and guacamole were not able to cut the acidity. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me. The truffle fries were crisp and delicious though. The hibiscus tea tasted like it was made from a mix of something like that. They let me switch to an Arnold Palmer which was good. My husband got the Brie and fig chicken sandwich with potato salad and rose lemonade. He liked the sandwich enough but said he wouldn't get it again. He couldn't eat the potato salad because it was very heavy on the mayo. He liked the rose tea. When you arrive you go up to the counter to order, then they bring the food out to you. After placing our order we're given the option to tip. I tipped 20% as I usually do at a sit down restaurant. But after our experience I wouldn't do that again, I'd probably tip in the same way I would at any other fast casual restaurant. The staff were friendly enough. But they did nothing beyond bringing the food or picking up our plates. We didn't even get our water refilled. Overall if it wasn't for the beautiful vibes of the place I don't know that I'd pay $75 (with tip) for the meal that we received. But we will go back again because overall we had a lovely time. Oh and there is a small parking lot with 10 spots, other than that you'd have to find metered street parking.

Mediocre... Second visit, 1st was aborted due to lack of parking in area. Came back to give them an actual try and we were disappointed. If you are coming only for the ambiance then the garden/patio is very nice. Service and food left us wishing we picked someplace else. Wife had crab Benedict and could barely taste the crab, eggs were overcooked, I had a breakfast burrito and everything was overcooked. Order at the counter and they bring you your food, but you have to get up and get your own water. When they brought the the food they put it on the table, no "can I get you anything else?", just drop the food and leave. $40 for 2. Overpriced, overcooked and disappointing. Limited parking, if you can find it you may have to walk a few blocks.

I had a pretty frustrating experience ordering from For The Win today, which completely defeated…read morethe purpose of ordering ahead. I placed an online order through their website, and it quoted about a 25-minute prep time with a ready window around 2:56 -3:06 PM. I planned accordingly and even arrived earlier so I could pick it up fresh and avoid waiting. However, just five minutes after placing the order, I received a text saying it was already ready. That immediately raised a red flag, because if you're paying $13+ for a double burger, you expect it to be made closer to your arrival time, not immediately. When I arrived, the burger was already cold. When I brought this up, the employee I spoke with repeatedly said "it's not my fault" and pointed to someone else, instead of taking any ownership or even acknowledging the issue. It was a really poor way to handle a simple customer concern. Eventually, after some back and forth, the burger was remade, but I had to wait another 10-15 minutes. And ironically, it took longer to make it this time than it did after I placed the online order. But then now I wa stuck waiting defeating the whole purpose of ordering ahead. A manager eventually came over and was polite, but by that point the experience had already been frustrating. They also threw away the original burger instead of offering to let me keep it, which felt wasteful. On top of that, when I asked for a couple cups of water for my daughter, I was told I'd need to purchase a bottle, which felt pretty tone-deaf given the situation and didn't even think to offer me any anything for the misunderstanding and having to wait extra time now... The bigger issue here is the lack of coordination and communication. If you're going to quote customers a pickup time, especially for hot food, the order should be made accordingly--not immediately after it's placed. Otherwise, you're guaranteeing that the food won't be fresh when the customer arrives. Between the timing issue, the lack of ownership from staff, and the overall handling of the situation, this was a disappointing experience. I usually like the food, but the service and process today really need improvement.

Yowza! Luckily, Hi Ho wasn't quite as busy as the pizza and ice cream shops, but there were still quite a few folks, and the staff did manage to tend to everyone nicely. If you haven't been, Hi Ho is a simple, fast food burger joint in terms of decor, but the menu (from the same people who own Matu) is a small, curated selection of very high quality options: mostly Wagyu burgers in a few different configurations, and chicken tenders + some very good, hand cut fries. This time I opted for the Pastrami Heat, a double cheeseburger fortified with spicy grilled onions and a not-too-large topper of Wagyu pastrami. I don't usually go for such an elaborate burger, but I just had a hankering. And while I won't say the burger was small, it was not as ridiculously enormous as you might get other places. The double patties were juicy and flavorful, nicely seasoned and coated in properly melted American cheese. The spicy grilled onions did pack a nice punch, but there weren't a lot of them, so their effect was minimal (definitely could use more of those). House-made pickles were pleasingly artisan, with a layered, briny flavor far more enjoyable than the commercial dill chips usually deployed. Finally, the Wagyu pastrami was really quite good. Marbled and juicy without be too fatty or too rich, thinly shaved and portioned just large enough to make its presence known without becoming unwelcome halfway through. Though decadent for sure, this was an enjoyable treat that was only about 50% guilt-inducing. Fries were fresh, hot, crispy and well done, cooked in beef tallow. Also a treat. Prices are in line with what you're paying at other fast casual burger places like Five Guys or Burger Lounge, but the quality here is definitely a step above, so you could almost say it's a deal. Of course, if you also stop into neighboring Erewhon for a smoothie, your budget will be blown.

tl;dr the rich and crispy smash burgers are the best in the neighborhood, worthy of the premium…read moreprice; I'm sad to see the Silver Lake location shutter The broad Los Angeles burger scene is equal parts vast and contentious, and many of the most popular spots began amidst the pandemic. Such is the case with Heavy Handed, which debuted as a backyard pop-up just before the shutdown. Heavy Handed distinguishes itself on the basis of its short rib burger base and meme-filled marketing. Heavy Handed transitioned to a food truck in 2021 and now operates two brick-and-mortar locations across LA (this Silver Lake location just closed its doors). The Silver Lake outpost took over the space of beloved diner All Day Baby on a bustling strip of Sunset. The exterior combined HH's signature sunset-orange color palette with psychedelic, LA- and burger-themed murals designed by local artist DJ Neff. The spacious dining room was warmly lit by a red neon strip running the length of the ceiling. Seating options ranged from upholstered half-booths to standard wooden tables and chairs to the bar counter around the corner. Classic rock echoed around the room. My partner and I visited for weekend lunch. We ordered immediately, and our food was available within minutes. We opted to split a Double Short Rib Burger. Immediately, I was impressed by the crispy, slightly charred edges around the circumference. Meanwhile, the center bites were addictively rich and juicy. The thick-cut pickles added a vinegary snap, while the diced onions were caramelized to a jam-like consistency. The service was friendly and efficient. At first, we raised our eyebrows at the $13 pricetag, but we were satisfied with the generous portion and delicious taste. In a busy, burger-heavy neighborhood (including wildly popular peer smash burgers at The Win-Down and Goldburger), this was our favorite one.
