I was super excited to visit Tip Top. Their nail art looked amazing and had mostly positive reviews but Im afraid my first appointment will be my last. They made my nails look pretty but didn't take my old acrylics off properly at all. Just ripped them off even when it hurt instead of soaking in acetone (which is what should be done). Really damaging and my nails are in so much pain but I can't do anything about it. The new acrylics also feel loose and fragile. I'm super upset because the people there were nice and it's a family business but they should know that it's not proper to remove acrylic that way. UPDATE: It is exactly two weeks later and every single one of my nails has fallen off. The first one fell off not even a week after I got them done :( UPDATE 2: My mom removed her toenail polish from her pedicure to find FUNGUS growing underneath it! So gross!!!

Came in July 11 for a SNS dip manicure with tips and no design. Ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for the tech to finish removing my previous set, granted I was a walk in. I also had asked for coffin shaped nails and was initially told no because of the length I asked for, despite having this length done many times before. She also ended up running the buffer over my finger so much that I bled, despite saying it hurt. I did not want to be rude so I paid and left, but after a literal day this was what I ended up with. Ended up paying $75 for a basic SNS dip + shape and no design, and it was not great quality. Only 4 days in and nails are chipped, cuticles torn up, and a mess with polish all over skin.

I went here on a spur of the moment thing. I was originally at another salon down the street but due to their terrible service I decided to give this salon a try. It's not anywhere fancy, but the service makes up for what it lacks in modern decor. Richard did my nails and the shaping was perfect. His wife was very nice and friendly. You could tell that returning customers felt very comfortable. UPDATED REVIEW- Although I love the service here, and they are quick and efficient, I am very disappointed in the work I had done last night. I didn't ask for them to fix it because I didn't want to take up any more time since my daughter was with me and it was the end of the night. I just wanted to leave the picture so people could see the work.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. I just moved to Plaza Midwood two months ago and decided to find a nail salon in the area. I looked at the reviews on here and decided to go to Tip Top. Listen, the atmosphere is great. All of the nail techs are really friendly and they had the TV on "American Idol Greatest Clips" or something like it, so everyone had something to look at/talk about. I got a pedicure and a full set of acrylic nails. The pedicure was pretty good and I thought my nails looked alright when I left, however, about 6 of my nails lifted off within just a few days. read more

Tip Top nails is my go to nail salon. The staff is always very friendly! I usually get acrylics with gel polish and they last quite some time. I come back in every 3 weeks to get them filled. The shops hours are great. It is hard to find someone who is open on Sunday's. I want to see this business succeed! If you live in the area give them a try. read more

First time at this salon today. I'm extremely satisfied. This will be my new regular nail spot. I did get there at 10:15 on a week day. I'm sure they're weekends will be busier. But it was clean. Ann did a thorough job on mani pedi. $35 for both. Great color selection. I just move to Charlotte NC and was having a hard time finding a good nail shops and manicurist that could actually do gel nails,and make them look natural. As I was riding down Central Ave I came across tip top nails and decided too stop, and the staff were friendly and did a excellent job. The shop was clean and was just recently designed, the equipment was clean which was very important to me because since being in the Queen City I had patronize a shop and ended up with a nail fungus. I'm seriously trying to figure out how this place has close to 5 stars. I asked for coffin shape and one of my nails has actually been put under ground bc it's WAY skinnier than my other nails. The pedicure was OKAY, nothing special at all. My massage was rushed so i didn't get to enjoy it. I shouldn't have tipped them but I did. I could've kept my $5 bc it wasn't worth it. I'll give them 2 out of 5 stars. I will not returning! read more

This is by far the best nail place in Charlotte!! All the other places are over priced and don't even do as good of a job. Tip Top Nails is reasonably priced and gives the best service I've had. I can't say enough nice things about this salon! The staff was super attentive, the music was jammin' (literally- Bob Marley!) and was one of the best pedicures I have had. My friend and I made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon and had such a good time, we ended up staying and chatting with the staff well after our nails had dried. I think I got someone new because my manicure was just awful. The nails were ridged like they weren't filed properly and were not even painted fully. The woman only massaged my hand for 30 seconds! That's the best part of the manicure! Thank god it was cheap... I should have just painted my nails myself! read more

I went to Tip Top for the first time yesterday. The staff were very nice, though there are only two people working their right now. The technician that gave me a great pedicure said the place was under new management, so I imagine they'll add staff as things pick up. The interior has been completely renovated - the pedicure chairs are brand new and really comfortable. $23 + tip for a pedicure. I'll definitely go here again! read more

This was my first time coming here. It was a Saturday so I called early to make an appointment. It was super busy and they seemed maybe short staffed? There was maybe 4 people working total, 1 person on pedicures, 1 person doing both, and 2 on nails. The owner was very nice but seemed distracted and rushed doing my nails. I got acrylics for the first time in years so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was clearly rushed. One of my nails is totally crooked, like 100% visibly crooked! It's been less than 2 weeks and I've had 3 nails fall off and another 3+ are peeling up from the bottom. The acrylics were put on very haphazardly so the thickness, texture, shape, and size aren't uniformed. The length is too long, the design is really nothing like what I showed her in the pics for how the color should look and it was just a variant of a French manicure. I'm very disappointed with the nails especially since I paid $50+ for something that literally is falling off my hand in less than 2 weeks - it's barely even time for a fill in yet. However! The guy doing the pedicure was AMAZING!!!! He shaped my nails so beautifully and cut out all of my nail that was becoming ingrown on the sides. He really took his time and did an amazing job. Truly it's the most thorough pedicure I've ever received. The only downside is the products they use for the pedis aren't the most luxurious but I didn't really expect all natural organic products or anything crazy from this location anyway. If the nails weren't so bad I'd go back ONLY for the pedicure but the job was done so badly on my nails I don't think I could risk losing anymore money here. I read the reviews before going and didn't expect this bad of a job on my nails or I would have not gone. I'm hoping it was just a bad day for them. read more

My first visit was today, I was looking for a new salon due to unbearable wait times and chaotic atmosphere at previous salon that I patroned for the past 7 years. My daughter volunteered to be the guinea pig and went to Tip Top first, once I saw her nails I was thoroughly impressed. I went the following day and Ginny gave me a picture perfect manicure. Made an appointment for 2pm, at 2:15 I was still waiting with my feet in the water and no one ready to take me. They had taken four walk in pedicures ahead of me, within a minute of me getting there. When I asked how long it would be, the owner told me that "they don't rush here." I told him I wouldn't have made an appointment... And then he told me I should probably reschedule to make another appointment... Rude, and the AC was off so it was uncomfortably humid. Would never go back. read more

Candice has done my hair for at least 4 years now and always does an amazing job. I don't do anything crazy, usually just balayage and either a trim/cut, but she is really a color expert. I love how passionate she is about her work, and is always doing research on new trends and techniques. Plus, she's such a fun person to spend a couple of hours with! Highly recommend if you are looking for a new stylist. Finally bit the bullet on microblading this week, and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Sarah was so informative about the process and walked me through the whole thing and answered my many questions. I loved how precise she was mapping everything out to make sure everything was just perfect. It's only been a couple of days, and I will have to go back for a touch up in 4 weeks, but I have received so many compliments on my brows already! The salon is cute and homey- It's actually a house so- makes sense. Everyone that works there is so nice, and they are taking COVID precautions seriously. Social distancing in the salon, waiting outside until appointment times, temperature checks, sanitizing, etc. The prices for the services I receive are very competitive for the quality in my opinion!

OMG AMAZING 100/10 RECOMMEND!!!!! Hi I'm Miss. Greta and I went to your divine nail saloon on this very day. Before I came let me tell you hun my toes done looked like they been to WW1,2 and 3. They had foliage and a whole garden growing out them nails gosh darn it. Your amazing saloonist took me under her thick wing and cleaned up them damaged toes. The procedure was so exciting and really stuck with me. The feeling of the fresh air through those nails are really makin me feel like i'm one of those lil 20 year old youngsters runnin round getting all happy with my little pals. I went to this salon for the first time and experienced horrible customer service. First during my pedicure the technician thought it was a good idea to place the excess skin from under my big toe on top of my foot which was extremely unprofessional. The gentleman that did my nails did not ask me what shape I wanted because he was preoccupied with making sure the caucasian customers that came in after me, being serviced by someone else got whatever they needed. He kept stopping my service to interject into theirs, and attempted to send me to wash my hands with crooked misshappen nails and I left. I don't recommend people of color patronize them.I witnessed and african american come in and ask for one nail fixed and was turned away they were closing, 3 caucasian customers came in after her with full set requests and were serviced you draw your own conclusions. read more

I am absolutely obsessed with my nails. after 30 min of driving around looking for a nail salon, i called their shop and got in within 10 min. I went to jenny with horrible uneven bumpy acrylic on lay nails. i was sooo embarrassed! but immediately when i sat down with jenny i knew i was going to be taken care of. we started over with a fresh set. she did amazing and was gentle! she constantly checked throughout the process to make sure that i was satisfied. which i was! i even got a pedicure with gel french tip that turned out soo cute. on top of that the atmosphere is so welcoming and peaceful. each of the staff had great personality and actually talked to you ! this was overall an excellent experience for me. i will definitely be back ! read more

Drove 30 mins to this place bc I saw the pictures of others nails. They accepted me and my friend as walk-ins. Jenny helped me recover from the last place I went, as my nails were crooked and very thick. She knew what she was talking about & was thoughtful. She didn't want to give me a new set bc she said these were too tight & it would hurt my real nails and ruin them. She was so sweet and held good convo while doing my nails! Price wasn't bad at ALL. It's been 4 weeks and my nails haven't chipped. Obviously it's time I get them redone, but it's hard to come by places where they don't even chip after this long! The edges are still all secured to the nail too. One thing I hate about other places is when after a week or two the edges start to wear off and washing your hair is a nightmare bc it always gets caught under the polish. New go to place. I will NEVER go anywhere else!!! They are affordable and they get me in and out in a very reasonable amount of time. No waiting for 45 minutes or an hour at this place!! They are also very knowledgeable and professional. I came in asking for a neutral color and they showed me how I could get a bolder color with a beautiful design that matches everything.
