My favorite live music venue in New Orleans. From home grown new talent to national touring acts, this venue hosts some of the best live music I've had the pleasure to experience. My first visit here was in 1989 before I lived in New Orleans. Now I fortunately live within walking distance of this club. If you're local or visiting I highly recommend catching a show here.

Great venue to chill and watch live music. The bartenders were great. The drinks were strong and packed a punch, but not overpowering. There is an open floor for you to dance. There is no seating, which is NOT a big deal if you're in tune to the music and show. It was not a big deal for me, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's definitely local friendly and not as touristy, which is a plus in my book. I will definitely come back to check out more live music.

First time here. We came out tonight to see brass a holics. This venue is hugeand the bartenders are bartending! ;-) It's crowded in here for this to be such a big venue. It's cool downstairs, hot upstairs. noisy everywhere and the sound system is pretty awesome!

Fun little concert hall with a dive bar feel. On a recent trip to New Orleans, I landed at this spot for the first time. We saw a band called Dragon smoke, and had an amazing time. It's not tough to realize why this bar/music venue is rated so highly. First for the music, the sound system is great, especially for the type of music that play at this facility. The band I saw was jamming all night, Guitar , bass, drums, keyboard, and they were all mixed perfectly. Also, the venue was pretty big, and when the lower bowl fills up, there is an upstairs area. The second draw is the nice layout of bars, and assortment of alcohol they have. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even though the place was packed, I didn't have to wait too long for a drink. There is also a bathroom situation on both levels so you don't have to walk back-and-forth. Would definitely go here if you are seeing a band you know, or try them out for something new.

No visit to NOLA is complete without seeing a show at Tipitina's. As long time fans of the Radiators, we spent two of our six nights here ands came specifically for their show. All tix are General Admission as there is no seating and it was packed wal-to-wall with their loyal fans. There is some bench seating upstairs which wasn't quite as crowded. Advise you to get there early to stake out your spot. Hanging over the rail on the second floor is a great view and not as taxing. Free water on the second floor is a nice touch. We had a blast. Always great acts here.

Intimidate venue with great beer choices and fair bar prices. Top that off with a fun, positive vibe from staff members and you get a perfect music venue. Can't wait to return in 2022!!

Great atmosphere, great music, but the staff is pretty unfriendly and they charge a dollar for a cup of tap water. Ridiculous.

WTF is up with clearing the house at midnight during Jazz Fesf? Not cool. Two hours to set up for the late show? FN ridiculous.

    Ask the Community - Tipitina's

Are there any places where you can sit down?

Only a couch and maybe a bench upstairs. But mostly the entire venue is standing room only. There is also a VIP section upstairs that has some seating, but no actual view of the stage from any of the seating - VIP or GA.

Is it only open on nights where the calendar on their website has a show advertised? Or are there other (less notable?) bands performing on the remaining nights?

Do we have to buy tickets beforehand or can we wait till the door opens to get tickets?

Depends on the show; many sell-out before show-ti me, otherwise you can pay at the door.

Does tipitinas allow fixed lens or interchangeable lens cameras?

It depends on the show and the artist's PR policy.

Are VIP tickets worth getting for extra benefits/special seating?

VIP tickets usually include a meet and greet so its up to you if that interests you. Other than that, the venue is standing only.

Had a rough experience here this week with Lynn…read more Very emotionally disregulated bartender that seems to hate her life. David was amazing. Fantastic bartender. Tipped him literally 100% because he deserved it and her 0% because she deserved it. Went back this morning to talk to the young lady working and leave the owner my number and would love to discuss. My mom lives across the street so it's not like I'm just some A hole passing through and I was also a bartender for 5 years myself before becoming a nurse and then a nurse practitioner. I would never treat a patient nor a patron how I was treated by Lynn this week. Great bar, shameful service by Lynn. All the other bartenders I've encountered were amazing but she's a cancer on this place in my limited experience with her on two separate days. Dave, you rock. Will update review once I hear back from owner who I met the other night but didn't discuss because I hadn't had the second experience with Lynn yet. I HATE leaving negative reviews as I'm sure you can tell by my review history but this woman has definitely gotten me out of my character and I apologize.

When visiting New Orleans, we stumbled across The Rum House and got curious. With a name like that,…read moreI figured they had to know rum, so we decided to give it a try. Luckily, we arrived during happy hour. We started with the tuna ceviche, which was half off. At only $8, it was an incredible value. The fish tasted very fresh, clean, and was beautifully presented. My only complaint was that it needed a little more lime and salt to really make the flavors pop. I'd absolutely order it again at happy hour, but at full price I'd hope for a little more seasoning. For drinks, we tried several. The Rum Punch didn't disappoint. It reminded me of a Hurricane but without the heavy grenadine flavor, which I personally prefer. Next was a creamy white rum cocktail with a pineapple garnish (I can't remember the name). It was surprisingly strong, which I loved since rum is usually a softer spirit. It was just a little sweeter than my taste, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The star of the night was the Piña Colada. It was honestly one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overly sweet, had an incredibly smooth, creamy texture, and was topped with whipped cream and a rum floater that was absolutely perfect. They told me it's double blended, and whatever they're doing works. My only complaint? No maraschino cherry! I'm sorry, but a piña colada just isn't complete without one. One thing to keep in mind is that piña coladas tend to drink more like dessert than a strong cocktail. I had two and barely caught a buzz, but honestly I didn't care because they were that good. We also sampled the White Peach Sangria, and to me it tasted very similar to Moscato. If you're a Moscato fan, you'll probably love it. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Between the happy hour deals, the rum cocktails, and especially that piña colada, The Rum House is absolutely worth a visit. The piña colada would be the first thing I'd order again.
