I had a frustrating experience with scheduling and communication. I called Tire Choice yesterday to make a 9:00 a.m. appointment and planned to wait while the work was done. Shortly after scheduling, someone called me back to ask whether I could drop the car off instead. I explained what I needed done, and they confirmed that I could keep the appointment and wait. When I arrived this morning, however, I was told that I either had to drop the car off or cancel the appointment. Because I did not have a ride arranged, I had to cancel. This wasted over an hour of my morning and could have been avoided with clearer communication up front. I understand shops get busy, but if waiting was not actually an option, that should have been made clear before I came in. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have my tires rotated at the Monroe Ave. store in Pittsford, NY where I purchased them. I left the car and when I got back to pick it up and was surprised when they told me I had to pay. I had purchased these tires in February and was told they would be rotated free of charge. The manager Dave rudely informed me since I had turned down the road hazard option that I was wrong, I said I was told otherwise and I had to pay. On the way home Dave called, he was wrong I didn't have to pay I had already paid for it but apparently he was too freeakin lazy to look that up while I was there so I asked him why my tire pressure light was on and he was dumfounded, "they should've checked that". DUH. They has my tires set to 48 psi. So if they can't rotate tires without f"ing it up I should be grateful they didn't fall off. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! What really sucks is I will have to pay to have them rotated now because they don't know how. read more

Recently stopped in after making an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation, I believe Dale scheduled me. Should point out my prior garage closed so had to find a new service garage. Place is easy in and out off Monroe, clean, Dave signed me in, was pleasant, and knowledgeable. Car needed a new battery which I was ok with, as it was the original and making me nervous. Little over an hour and a half, I was out of there, oil change, tires rotated, and new battery. Price is a little high, but most things are now a days. DO NOT GO HERE! I had the worst experience with one of the workers. I walked in to get an inspection on my car which I drive out of state at college. It was not due for an inspection but I needed to do it while I am home. The worker went outside to check my mileage and then proceeded to harass friend in the parking lot who was picking me up about my car and asking her why I was here when my inspection was not needed. He couldn't even ask me about it. Later when I went to pick it up, I walked into the same man screaming at this older women who was just a little confused about her bill. He was so unprofessional and rude to her and also was rude to me about wanting to Apple Pay because he "doesn't believe in Apple" and told me this long story about why I shouldn't have an Apple phone. Literally just waisting my time after he told the older women to move out of the way for him to get me on my way. So rude. So unprofessional. Do not waste your time here. read more

Too busy to put air in my tires that I bought there. Told me to come back in 1-1/2 hours. I've never been told to come back later by any garage that I've been to. Got a flat fixed here today. They have an online coupon for a free flat repair. Service was good & staff were friendly. Can't complain! They also gave me some quotes for future repairs but didn't get snobby about it the way some car people do. They have lifetime repairs for tires purchased there. Dear Dave and Dale. Am sorry I complained because the frigid weather and broken heater just got to me. Other times the 2 have offered rides. This time I was too proud to ask so the fact I didn't get a ride back is On Me. What a great service to have in this area where you don' have to wait for an appointment. The heater can only be accessed while laying on one's back and looking up just below the glove compartment. It must have been a real pain to fix. Thank-you. I have never written a one star review and hate to do it in this case. I had been going to this Monro location for oil changes and maintenance since I was a freshman at Naz. Joe and his team of mechanics always treated me fairly, never spoke to me any differently than other (male) customer, and had my car serviced and diagnosed quickly. I've had my last two oil changes at this location, now under a new manager and completely different staff, and will not be returning. Both experiences have left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. Not only does the new manager lack any sense of professionalism (I witnessed the way he treated his employees first hand and can't imagine why anyone would stay at this location - hence the turnover and lack of well trained mechanics), but I don't trust the new team with my vehicle as a result - period. I arrived for my 4pm appt at 3:15ish (very early!) and was told that they were just wrapping up and could get my car back early, which was great news. A mechanic took my car back, and there I sat. And sat. And sat. The mechanic came and mumbled something to the manager who rudley instructed him to input something into the computer, which I assume is their diagnostic trying to get me to spend more money in their facility. A full 40 minutes after my oil change was clearly complete I still saw my car just sitting in the garage. I watched as the manager went in and yelled at the mechanic to bring the car out since it was CLEARLY finished, after I made it abundantly clear I would not be moving forward with any of their suggestions (four new tires & new back AND front brakes...how convenient), I was made to sit there and wait since this team is either untrained, or incapable of effective communication on the most basic of tasks. This terrible experience makes me incredibly sad, since trying to find new mechanics can be really tough. I hope the Monro team can pull it together and figure out a way to make this location serviceable, and in the meantime look forward to moving my business somewhere locally owned. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Monro for years and will not been returning after my experience with them this weekend. I dropped my car off on Friday night for a regular annual inspection and an oil change. I also asked them to top off my wiper fluids bc they were empty. Saturday morning I got a call from Jim, the manager that my car would not be passing inspection because of my back shocks and they needed to be replaced and it would be a total of 700 dollars. I said okay well whatever needs to be done to pass inspection because I need my car. Jim then asked me to pay over the phone because "he has to hit a certain number in sales a day and he could really use the money". I said well I can't pay right now I didn't expect to pay 700 today I need to move money around. He was clearly upset and said to call back ASAP and pay. It got to be Sunday. Nobody had contacted me again if my car was ready and it had been there 2 days. I called at 2pm asking if my car was finished and the guy who answered said "I don't know we will have to call back". He called back and said it was and someone must have "just forgot to call and let me know". I just picked it up and 1. THE INSPECTION STICKER WASNT EVEN CHANGED OR UPDATED. 2. The fluids were not topped off as asked 3. The inside of my car was trashed and things from my glove compartment were all over my front seat and floor. I went back inside and explained this to them. I then had to sit there while they ran the inspection and top the fluids. They clearly did NO work and charged me 730 dollars. I found out that the shocks don't even need to be checked to pass a NY inspection. I was completely screwed over and drained 700 dollars for work they didn't even do. I am taking my car tomorrow to somewhere else to see if the shocks were even done as nothing else was. I have reached out to customer service with no response. I will never return and no one should take their car here!!!! read more

Myself and my family have been coming here for years. Today I had an absolutely despicable, unprofessional encounter with one of the employees. I was a third party in this situation, picking up a friend's car for them since they dropped the vehicle off on Friday and are now out of town. When I told the employee why I was there, he started rambling about how annoyed he was with the situation, stating that the car had just been in the way for the past two days and was a nuisance. He also attempted to explain what the issue was with the car, but was completely unclear on whether or not the work had been done. He then told me "I'm trying to be a nice guy and be helpful and work with him [my friend] on the price because that's what I do." Nothing in this employees behavior was nice. I had been told I was there to pick up the car, so I offered to pay for the services. The employee said to me, "Did you not understand anything I just said to you?" in an incredibly condescending tone. I said I heard what he said but it was unclear since he kept talking about how much he was going to charge but then would actually charge. Eventually he told me to "Just take the car and go." I'm appalled by how rude this employee was, will be certain proper measures are taken with higher ups, and recommend any avoid this place if they want good customer service. read more

Not sure who is inspecting brakes at this shop. We were told we needed back brakes pads and rotors on our Honda CRV during a recent oil change. We decided to get a second opinion and was told the only thing we needed was some brake fluid. Had we had Tire Choice fix the brakes it would of cost us approximately $900. Enough said! I cannot say ENOUGH about Dave and Dale at Tire Choice on Monroe Ave in Pittsford and the customer service and professionalism I got there today!!! I was in a panic, frantic actually, and Dave's immediate response when I called was "Ok, we got you, don't worry, bring it right in."I am leaving for a long 10-hour driving trip in the a.m., I wanted to top off my windshield fluid and noticed very low engine coolant in the reservoir right next to it. OMG! All I could think about was my sister waiting at the Philly airport for me to get her at a set time tomorrow and me NOT being there, and what if something is seriously wrong, what if I need to rent a car, right down the rabbit hole I went!! I took my Jeep right over there and dropped it off, both Dave and Dale once again reassured me they'd figure it out and to just go back home with my son, relax and wait for their call. At home, my mind went back down that rabbit hole until about an hour later, Dale called to tell me what was needed and that the car would be done in a few hours, it was reasonably priced, and that they'd gone over the car for my long trip and all is GREAT! As I said, both Dave and Dale took me from what felt like a complete nightmare to me just now driving away feeling like I'm in better shape than I even thought I'd be because now my engine coolant is flushed and my brake fluid is clean, tires, oil, window fluid, a/c is all checked and working perfectly. WOW! That place is amazing and they've always gone out of their way to help me with "car stress" which is why I keep going there. They are my "go to" car place! I have been to Tire Choice several times and found them to be honest, fair and extremely helpful! Frankly, 2 times they didn't even charge me. First time was in the middle of a snow storm and I was sliding all over the road, I drove in and asked them to look at my tires. They said they are great tires and the roads are crappy. Second time, they filled the air in my tires on Christmas Eve. No charge. I have had several oil changes as well. I'll be going back. The professionals have been knowledgeable, quick, and quite pleasant! read more

I made an appointment for an oil change this week and was told the price would be $89.95 and was told there was nothing he could do about that price. They had no cars in their bays and none waiting. I don't even want to give this a star, but I want others to know NOT to come here. This is a very long story so beware..... My husband and I needed an inspection and oil change. We usually go to a mechanic in Henrietta that we know but for convenience decided to go to Monro since it was in our area and thought it'd be a quick appt. Come Saturday morning we both dropped off our cars and they said they'd call us back when they were ready. A couple hours later they said my husband needed new tires. He knew this already and agreed to let them replace his tires. We pick his car up and then a couple more hours later I get a phone call. As soon as I answer, the mechanic tells me that there's things wrong with my car. He goes and asks me "How much do you like your car?" I reply confused saying, it's my car! I like it just fine. He then proceeds to tell me that I have $3,500 worth of damage and that the only good part about my car is it's body. I immediately freak out and say that there's no way my car has that much wrong with it. The only thing I figured I needed were new brakes which would be understandable. I tell him I can't do it and I'll just pick up my car. I called my dad and decided that the following Monday I would take it to the mechanic we trust because I didn't believe Monro. After I go to pick up my car, what do you know right after I pull out of the shop, a sheriff pulls me over! I then park my car in a parking lot and wait for him to come up. He asks if I knew why he had pulled me over. I explained it was probably due to the lack of inspection sticker since Monro said they couldn't pass my inspection without the $3,500 of repairs. He told me that even though I failed inspection, Monro should have given me some sort of sticker in that place to let police or anyone else know that I failed inspection, but had time to get in re-inspected. I told the sheriff I had no clue, and he let me go but told me to get a sticker where the inspection one goes. After I get pulled over, my car didn't start!! I had to call my husband and get a jump start in the parking lot. Whether this was coincidence or Monro's fault, I do not know but I was very suspicious that they may have had to do something with it because again, I had no previous issues. Once I got my car started, we went back to Monro where I explained that I had just gotten pulled over for lack of sticker in place of the inspection one. They looked at me like I was crazy and laughed saying they don't do that. They told me I was suppose to show the sheriff my paper work saying I failed inspection. I told him I did and that the sheriff still told me I needed some sort of sticker. They laughed again and told me they don't do that. I then walked out of there upset and angry that this place would treat customers so horribly and wrong. After I had taken my car into the place we TRUST, want to know what my bill was?? $615!!!!!! I needed new brakes, and drive belts. Our mechanic said he found no issues with the things Monro said I needed replaced. Going from Monro's saying I was better off with a new car and that mine was basically shot and needed at least $3,500 of repairs, to going to what I figured was wrong the whole time and only paid $650 with quality and trust worthy work is amazing. Trust your local mechanics and do NOT go to Monro's. I'm disgusted that they would try to take advantage and think people can shell out $3,500 like it's no big deal. Let me first say Dale is amazing...kind, accommodating, knew what was going on with my car. Came in foe an oil change, was told a tir rotation was free.. I agreed to it. I picked up the car and the air pressure light was on.. I called and spike to someone other than Dale and he was a bit condescending. I had forgotten about the rotation and told him about the light thinking he'd know or pull up my info to see what was done.. instead he asked me. Hesays "nothing we did would effect your air pressure" the next day I called back got him again and told him about the rotation. He said maybe I had a prior sensor issue, I could bring it back..but id have to leave it there cuz they couldn't look at it right away. So I did. When I arrived 20 minutes later, Dale was there and told me they could check it right then.. they said everything is fine I left.. the light is still on.. I didn't have a previous sensor issue. I know this because I had regular checks with the dealer.. its eyebrow raising to go in for one thing and leave with more issues.. as a woman this happens more than I'd like to admit..and it's an uncomfortable feeling. If I go back, it will be because of Dale.. but im not sure I will. read more

Wish I'd read these reviews before I went there. I was overcharged and told "corporate" had to approve the refund. That was about four months ago. The place is pro at scamming. I had reservations which explicitly outlined what I wanted. They added lifetime pressure check without my knowing and I wasn't shown the receipt until after I had digitally signed it. Dirtbags My SO went to get a oil change and after the oil change they told her that the front brakes were close to being shot, about a week left, and that the back brakes were completely gone. She had recently gotten new calipers pads and rotors and upon inspection they were all still in good working condition. They tried to take advantage of a woman who did not know enough about cars to be able to say otherwise, luckily had good advice before hand not to get anything but the oil change done. They essentially tried to SCAM her into more work so they could make a quick buck. She will not be going here anymore, nor any other Monroe Muffler. This is not the first time I've experienced this and despise the business model that Monroe Muffler promotes. My advice would be to find a good local mechanic and support your community. read more

I was forced into buying a $1,500 set of tires when my rim was cracked was the only problem. I ended up having to go to another shop to get my vehicle fixed. because they couldn't fix it even after they sold me $1,500 tires. they damaged three of my four rims and had to replace them.they kept my vehicle from multiple extensive time to do work that did not get it fixed I had to purchase rent a vehicles why they kept my vehicle they are of not willing to refund that money also the customer service department is the worst I have ever dealt with I am still working with them on a complaint. He went out on disability for a while and has been replaced by "Jim". I took my car and left - did not have the service completed. What is the purpose of an appointment if they don't adhere to the appointment time. This Monro Muffler is a once stop shop from basic maintenance of your auto to more complicated repairs. I have tried other local auto shops and always feel they are not trustworthy. My family recently had a second bad experience with this company. We took our car to them for muffler repair. They examined it for 10 min. and we were told repair was necessary, which will cost $700. They asked us to leave car with them few hours. Supposedly the part was repaired (who knows what went on during time our car was in their custody). We drove the car for less than 100 miles and suddenly the muffler noise became extremely loud. We returned the car to them. They asked us to leave it there for a couple more hours. We received a call later that day letting us know there was a hole in the muffler and that portion needed to be replaced - they were asking for another $600 to do so!!!! We took car back without repairing it and took it to another garage. I do not trust this company in the slightest bit and would caution others about doing business with them. They have a polite employee at their front desk but I am very suspicious of what goes on behind their closed doors. read more

I will definitely avoid this place like the plague. They are fast, indeed, but will replace anything and everything and overcharge you shamelessly. They assessed my car as needing over $800 worth of repairs. I went for a second opinion and got everything fixed for $250. That is because the assessment at Monro reported damage to parts that were in perfect condition according to my reevaluate. I wish someone would go I and film, the way they expose crooks on TV. I guess as a woman when they invoke safety, I usually hurry and pay. But this time it was very strange that all the damage they reported showed no exterior signs.
