New to the area of Neptune Beach, I was looking for a reputable business for car repairs. Left my vehicle for an oil change at 9:00 am when told it would take about an hour and half to complete. Called store at 12;30 pm to check status after not hearing back. Said they were pulling it in then and will call me soon. After no respnse back after 2 hours, got a ride to the store to find out they hadn't even started and couldn't tell me when. I have used this particular shop several times and service has definitely declined. I had a blowout on the front left tire and requested it be checked, and replace with f necessary. Also requested the right rear be checked as it has lost air slowly. When the car was "completed" there was no review of what was done and no reference to the right rear. When I asked I was told "nothing wrong, tire is fully inflated". When I asked if the donut was replaced in the truck I was assured it had been. Nope. Went in for an oil change because I was going to leave the following day for a trip to get my kids. I told them this and that I had to leave at 6 am because I had hotel reservations etc. They called back and said I needed other work done if I wanted to do so but it will be ready by the time they closed. 4 hours passed and I called for my car update. They informed me it would be ready for the following day. NO call or anything to inform me since I was waiting at work next door. They would have closed and not called me that they're keeping my car over night and I wouldn't have had a car to get home! I said forget the extra work , just do the oil change I can't wait until the following day. He said unfortunately the person working on my car left my bolts in his tool box and has the key so they are unable to get my car back together. I asked to have him be called and they said they couldn't. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. Sort of a bad story. I told them i needed to be leaving Florida by 6 am the following day and that no communication etc was relayed to even tell me my car was being kept. What I don't like is that they changed a cabin air filter that lasts for 45,000 miles and my car only had 29,000. When I asked them about it, they conflated the cabin filter for the engine air filter to sound as though they were helping the car with it's performance. Additionally, over the phone we agreed about services but when the gentlemen repeated what he was going to do he added in an alignment check that I didn't agree to. This is a classic "recommend stuff you don't need auto mechanic shop". They prey on people's ignorance and get them to buy things they don't need. People!, ask AI or Google these things that they recommend before agreeing to pay them. The guys working the desk do not seem to be honest. read more

We used to bring both of our vehicles here because someone we trusted was a mechanic. We would make our appointments based on his schedule, and every time we picked up our vehicle we were assured the person we asked for did the repair. Turns out they did not have him working on our vehicle but someone else. When we asked the store manager about it, he straight lied to my face and promised me our trusted person worked on our vehicle. It literally says the technician's name on the paperwork, not to mention we have this person's number and is the one who called and told us in the first place that he had not worked on our vehicle the last several times it was brought in. Also, we bought both our vehicle's tires from them with the guarantee that they would do the price match (which they did) and a lifetime rotation & balance included. When we went to another Tires Plus for a rotation & balance, they said there was no lifetime balance and we had to pay for it. If I could give zero stars I would. We brought our car in for a part to be replaced and they estimated a price and everything seemed fine. Once we let them know we were from out of town and needed it fixed to get home that's when everything changed. Suddenly our price went up. They wanted to charge us $500 originally to replace a part but said BMW was closed so they couldn't contact them. That's was a bold faced lie. I called bmw and they were willing to sell us the parts that same day for $15.99. When I asked the guy at tires plus why they said they couldn't get the part because they were closed he said "well I just assumed they were closed. And I didn't know you'd be double checking my work" I didn't even know how to respond to that. We were then told by another employee our new total would be $1386 which we were willing to pay. Then the gentlemen who had been lying to us from the beginning, told us he would actually have to charge us $3,500 because he needed to estimate an additional 2.5 hours making it a total of 5 hours to cut a bolt off a wheel and replace the part. Idk if anyone knows about cars but it shouldn't take that long to cut a bolt. When we declined to have them service the car for $3,500 they told us we needed to wait for our keys and they would give them to us after they closed up. And this part I really couldn't believe, we got the keys back only to find grease smeared all over the tan leather seat, the side speaker, the middle console, and all over the bottom of the door frame. When I went to confront them they locked us out and refused to handle it professionally. Idk the reason for their ignorance but it seems like another chain just trying to get over on their customers. We ended up taking it to Duval Auto Clinic and Tires 9909 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville and they fixed our issue in three hours for $900 not a single problem and the car drives great!! read more

I've been to his location many times and so far it's always been a good experience. Making an appointment is always easy and super convenient since they're open 7 days a week. When you get tires from them and if you happen to get a nail, they'll patch it up cause of the warranty for free. I've gotten brake pads, tires, rotors etc from them and all these parts have a warranty. So when ever something needs fixing I always ask to see if it was under warranty to save some money. Make sure to ask if there are specials/ discounts going on, it has saved me hundreds but they are pretty good at letting you know if there's a special. read more

After checking the other tire & lube businesses in the area, I found that this place is the best value and most highest rated. They were able to take my car in as soon as we got here without an appointment, and are conveniently located on Atlantic BLVD across from the Mobil/Papa Johns. They keep their store clean, and the bathroom is very sanitary. The prices are very reasonable as well. They have a flat screen tv and complimentary coffee in the waiting area, and their customer service is OUTSTANDING! Definitely our go-to place for all of our car servicing needs. read more

Damsel in distress I needed my tail light changed on a Sunday nonetheless. So I called around and this place was the only one wiling to see me pronto and guaranteed a short wait time. So I showed up around 11 am and the Tires plus representative was kind and thorough. My total time here was perhaps 25 minutes max. This location did have its fair amount of clients but they were efficient and productive because I was able to receive my service in rapid time. The interior was clean and very nicely designed. Comfortable waiting area and quite spacious and open floor plan. In short, they got the job done. They were high quality, clear and consistent with their service. Just called this store for a rough idea for a brake job. Of course they wanted me to come in for a quote. Understandable due to the variables. yet was looking for a price i could budget for. Store down the road quoted $178.00 pads and rotor turn. This Bone Head quoted $190.00 asked why he was charging more than the store down the road. He could not explain, blamed it on cooperate and hung up. I was set to take a day off and bring in my truck. Although as the gentlemen said then take your business down the road. I went in to purchase a vehicle that was advertised with a MSRP of 50k. When they came back with the paperwork the vehicle was now just under 60k. They advised me that this is a high demand vehicle and they adjust the price accordingly. Remember this is a Hyundai, not some high dollar investment type vehicle. If they want 60k for the vehicle, advertise it for 60k. It would have saved me 2 hours and a wasted trip. I did purchase the same vehicle for the advertised price at another dealership. read more

I have used this location numerous times. In the past it was excellent. Then they went through several manager changes and personnel changes and service was up and down. Service has stayed down for sometime and I decided I would not go back but I had a flat tire and they were the closest place so I went. They said they could not patch it and I needed a new tire and I got one. That was last month. So today I went to the Infinity Dealership to have my vehicle serviced. The service rip came out and showed me pictures of the lugs nuts that were put on the tire replaced by Tires Plus, the lugs were rounded. Tires Plus used the wrong lug wrench on the vehicle and caused the lug nuts to be disfigured. When the vehicle service was completed I went straight to Tires Plus and showed the pictures from the Infinity Service. The managers statement was, well I can still get a socket on them. He did not care about the shoddy work that had been done on my vehicle. I will never go back and I hope you do not either! Well, this was a nice little surprise, after a scary morning. I had ran over something that sounded very scary in a recent trip to Atlanta, and kinda freaked out for the rest of the drive home. You know, you let the steering wheel go and see if it starts to pull before you get a flat? We made it home safe, thankfully, so I thought all was well. So fast forward to this morning, the only day I have to be up at a meeting at 8:30 am, and I get in the car.... and the warning light comes on for both my right side tires. I might have had a mini panic attack on the Matthews Bridge (cause dang Jax, that bridge is scary!). I did make it to my destination ok, and after the meeting, looked for the closest tire shop on Yelp. I saw the nice reviews and headed straight to Tires Plus, and noticed tire inspections and air pressure checks were free! I let them know what was up and within just a few minutes, a friendly guy told me I was good to go. I wasn't there long, and yay, didn't have to get new tires, (no pushy sales folks) and was more than a bit relieved everything turned out ok. Time and money are of the essence for those who value it. This place is an absolute joke and a rip off. My wife scheduled her Sonata at 3pm for a simple synthetic oil change with tire rotation with a 20% coupon off which would equal to $58, (dealer would cost $150 to include cabin/engine filter). The gentleman tried selling me a "free oil change" by signing up with their credit card...nice try. He said it would take 45-60min since they were busy which was fair because I had buy groceries for dinner since Publix was nearby. I returned at 4pm and they said it would take an additional 15 minutes which I was content with. I was approached that the car was done and said the engine and cabin filter were dirty and asked if I'd like to have them replace it and I replied "yes" to it. I was thinking in my head, "that shouldn't cost no more than $40 for both filters and takes less than 10min to install." 4:15pm comes around and I ask about the status and the gentleman at the front desk said, "it'll be another 15 minutes." I asked if I could pay for it now and he rung me up for a total of $176. Let's do the math here: $58 for the oil change/tire rotation and therefore I'll be paying $118 for a cabin and engine filter. Does this make sense? That is absolutely ridiculous! I tried to not lose my temper because of how obnoxious that $118 is but I told them to put the old filter back and I'll do it myself. 10 min later I received the car at 4:45pm I went to an Auto Zone and purchased the cabin and engine filter for $28.86, looked up on YouTube on how to install and i timed myself to 7 minutes for both filters. Whoever is the owner of this establishment, please take note of this: don't hustle your customers! read more

This is actually a 4.5, but I don't round down. These guys have been great. Very helpful and speak in a language you can understand if you are not a mechanic. Prices were great. I had an estimate done elsewhere and they had no problem matching costs and coming in lower on some of it. Also, they didn't try to charge me for things I didn't need, which is exactly what the last guys tried to do. I didn't need new belts or spark plugs. They could have said, sure we'll do that for you, but they checked my car, realized it didnt need the work done and were honest with me about it. They also have a military discount. Always a big yahoo for that! It took a little while for me to get my part and so that is the .5 off I would have given if I could have. I have also had work done at the Beach location, so my reviews will be nearly identical for both locations. read more

Shirley is one of the best customer service people ive met, helping out with costs by looking for coupons for me. Came in for an alignment recheck after driving from Stockbridge, GA because my car was pulling to the right and my steering wheel wasn't centered. So My car got pulled in the bay, right away after a tech started working on the car he installed the targets on the wheels. (Did not check my tire pressure). Alignment was done and handed me the keys. Test drove it, and pulled worser then before and steering wasn't center. Brought it back for a redo, and they still couldn't get it right. Now im on my way back home to Stockbridge, GA on a 5 hour drive with a bad alignment...and i bet you the tech didn't even bother checking my steering angle sensor with codelink that should be checked and reseted after an adjustment is performed... Didn't get acknowledged when we walked in the door, waited for 5 min before anyone even tried to greet us as were standing at the front desk. The lady upfront had a bad attitude and keeps no track of who's what customer to what vehicle ! Made an appointment and were told it would take 1- 2hours but once we were there we were told it would take 2-2 1/2 hours. I have been a customer of TP for 17 years. I took my 2011 Toyota Yaris for an oil change in Aug. 2014. I was advised I needed 2 air filters, a belt and should replace 2 tires. I declined and took it to the Toyota dealer. I did need the filters and should replace the tires but there was nothing wrong with the belt, a $100 repair. I was furious and returned to TP to confront the manager, Mitch Hyser. He, of course, apologized but it sounded hollow, as if recommending unnecessary repairs was part of the corporate culture. After speaking to others in the automotive repair business, this is common practice for TP, as their techs receive commission. Beware if you patronize this business. read more

Trusted no more. After more than 15 years during which Tires Plus in Neptune Beach was our trusted mechanic shop, my family will no longer use them for anything. Over the years we had all types of service, from oil changes to engine replacements, done there and always felt we were treated fairly. Then something changed... new management perhaps?... and the trust began to erode to the point where it is gone altogether. The final straw came when my wife brought her SUV in for an oil change and asked to have the steering checked as it was squeaking a bit in this cold weather. TP told her that the power steering pump needs replacing, the hose is shot and the power steering fluid is leaking. Huh? I had checked the fluid the night before and it was fine. They told her it would be $400, then almost immediately someone else behind the desk piped in saying no, it would be $800. 100% inflation just like that! My wife said she would get a second opinion and the TP guys started backpedalling and saying maybe we can could trim some of the cost here and there. Well, we did go to another mechanic, one recommended by a friend, and learned that the pump was fine, the hose was fine though the connection was a bit loose. We asked if the hose connector could come loose by itself and were told it is not likely. Hmmm. No more Tires Plus. P.S. When my wife called TP this morning to talk to them about our dissatisfaction, they hung up on her. I guess after 15 years, this is how Tires Plus Neptune a Beach says goodbye. read more

This location can't balance tires to save their lives. We took my husbands truck here 4 tires to get the tires balanced correctly and they still couldn't get it right. I know just spent $850 on 2 two tires and they also didn't balance them right. I have had my car for two months and have never had the tires pressure off more than one unit and now it's off by 4. I regret buying my idea here and hopefully I can find a different location that has a better idea what they are doing. Unfortunately we are new to florida and I have been to a few tires places and experienced that most tires places around can't hold employees and have a major turn over, it's very unfortunate!! I only gave them 3 stars because they do have very friendly staff and are at least willing to give it another try. Unfortunately they just can't seem to get it right.
