I heard about this spot from friends that live in San Jose and they said it was really good. One friend told me the history about the owner and this establishment's relationship to Pekoe. I was told the drinks were also identical to Pekoe. I decided to give Tisane a try but when I went there and looked at the menu, I realized that my favorite drink from Pekoe (which was the Pekoe special) wasn't available at Tisane. I thought they would have something comparable but there wasn't so I settled for a Golden drink with honey boba instead of agar and less sweet. I tried the drink but I didn't like it. I ended up going to Pekoe afterwards and I gave my Tisane drink to my bro-in-law. I want to give Tisane another shot (even though the drinks on the menu didn't really stand out to me). There has been a lot of talk about this particular boba shop; how it looks like its competitor, how their drinks taste the same, and the drama about their owners. All I can say is that the drinks do speak for themselves. The store is located in a pretty large shopping center. There's a lot of parking and the shop itself is actually pretty small. The inside has a lot of half-circle benches, just like the original Pekoe location, and the lighting is very similar as well, with very ambient lighting. There are about 15 to 20-ish drinks, each with their own combinations of flavor and toppings. They all are about $4.99, and they also have their striking resemblance to the original menu of Pekoe. The cool thing is that the servers will allow for you to test out the drinks before you order! The drinks themselves are actually quite good! They are still really sweet and you really can't taste the tea too much, but the drinks are still really good! I like them, they're not the best but I personally like them. Honestly I think this is better than Pekoe (and what a backstory it is between these two boba spots). The decor is essentially the same as Pekoe. Loud ass music, club like atmosphere, drinks with odd names. I think as I drink more and more boba, I'm not so much focused on the aesthetic segment of the business, but rather the actual drinks themselves (you know, the actual things that drive revenue). I can't help but say that there's something missing in the drinks, perhaps the brown sugar could be dialed down more? Even when I'm being conservative and lowering my sugar to 50% it still tastes way too damn sweet. Perhaps the core clientele's palate is catered for this taste because holy crap is it much more sweeter than I need. Anyways, I think this is a great addition to the south bay and a welcomed one given the Pekoe situation. As an SJ native and a part of the "rave" generation, this place has all the tropes that you'd expect of San Jose culture -- you got your ABGs, your ABBs, your vapers, your ravers. Deadass, I saw someone get twerked on during one of the more ratchet songs. Tisane is a "club-themed" boba bar. Their cashiers have lashes longer than the diameter of a boba ball, and their highlight is shiny af. They cute though. The interior of this place is DARK, like when movie theaters are showing trailers before the actual movie kind of dark. The music is always bumping, and the seats are always occupied with all sorts of characters. During peak hours, you can observe ABBs doing their car meets and vaping outside, while ABGs talk about tea while drinking it inside. I came to Tisane wanting to taste the scandal btwn them and their competitor Pekoe (iykyk). The drink itself comes with brown sugar agar and I added boba. The agar has a firm jelly texture but not much flavor to it. The boba was nice n chewy and seemed smaller than other boba places. My bf got the taro milk tea (tataro) which had a salted cheese cream. I'm not a big fan of taro so it wasn't my fav, but it didn't have that fake powdery flavor you see at some places so it was tastier. My bf really liked it tho. They have lines spaced 6 feet apart but the pick up and ordering lines converge. The decor and atmosphere of this place is def young and hip. Def gives off the vibe of a club/lounge for the youth LOL! Aside from it being like what everyone else has mentioned (that it is uncanny how similar it is to Pekoe...), the drinks were good. I ordered the RPM and it was a perfect balance of sweetness to the tea. It wasn't bitter or over-iced which is something a lot of tea places go overboard on. It came with mango stars- yum! So I didn't feel the need to add boba or else my drink would be half toppings :) Soft opening hours are still limited. But it's awesome that they're open until midnight. It's in the corner of the plaza by AT&T and luckily they have tables outside along with the benches already there. I ordered the Sugar Hill drink here while my GF ordered the Melon Rogue drink. Both drinks came out great and we both were pleased! We first learned about Tisane on yelp when we saw the reviews and we both wanted something different than Pekoe... the interior there was similar to Pekoe's interior where it had the "club" interior theme.. but what I'm impressed was even with the small space there was ample seating and music wasn't blasting too loud inside the store! Service here was friendly and the people working there were patient and explaining the drinks since they knew we were first timers there!
