Delicious and great service!! Everything we had was seasoned so well. Burger, chicken fried steak, and the ahi tuna salad. Yummy!!

We came in an hour before closing on July 4th not expecting much more than a warm meal. However, we're blown away with the service and quality of food. While this isn't a romantic spot with table cloths, candlelight, and soft music, the quality of food far exceeds some of the fine dining experiences we have enjoyed. My husband ordered the 12 ounce Akaushi ribeye, cooked medium, with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was perfection. The seasoning was simple, but it was all that was needed for bring out the flavor of this incredible cut of meat. The potatoes were thick and creamy and the green beans were fresh and still a little crunchy. I enjoyed the pecan crusted chicken with mashed potatoes and fried brussel sprouts. My chicken was tender and the gravy was so hot and delicious. The pecan flavor was wonderful and the pecan pieces gave it a nice texture. My sides were perfect, and I cannot think of a way to improve either. We were too full for dessert, but they had quite a list of different cheesecakes and cakes to offer. This place had a lot of potential but was a let down at every turn. Great patio (and dog friendly) but all of the tables were really sticky. Service was so-so and our order was messed up, which usually doesn't bother us. The food was pretty good - steak was perfectly done - but the Mac and cheese was as disappointing as a Longhorns loss to the Sooners. It looked like it seriously came out of a Kraft box. Seriously weak for a southern delicacy. The final straw though was the lack of COVID precautions. The servers weren't wearing masks and the majority of costumers weren't either. Would I come back? Maybe. I'd definitely check out other places in Bandera first though. read more

Really hoped to improve my star rating, but after my second visit here yesterday...just can't do it. That's a shame, because this joint has a very authentic western atmosphere. Issues same as previous visit, just experienced them with my gal as opposed to my brother. Not very busy when we went about 3 p. Service was not real impressive. My gal ordered chicken fried steak, but was served chicken fried chicken. We didn't say anything (and she said it was very good) because, well...there was no way we were waiting any longer. I had the BBQ pork sandwich. I've had sloppy joes that were less sloppy. It was just mush on a bun. No way you can pick it up. Ate it open faced. Okay -- tried the Forge again, and I must say they are on a better track. The food was simply amazing -- they tailor made a chicken breast plate for me by adding vegetables on top of it and keeping it together with cheese; savory mashed potatoes -- definitely a new cook. And the service--Morgan hit a home run with us. She did not hesitate when we asked if they could tailor our plates, meaning she knows what the kitchen can do. We stopped here during one of our motorcycle routes and so glad we did. A true cowboy/country style restaurant and atmosphere, we were greeted with warmth and quick service. Our server, Angie, was attentive and gave great recommendations. We ended up with the chicken and waffles and the akaushi burger and both were so fresh, delicious, and filling. All for a great price. My husband and I stopped in for a quick Father's Day dinner on our way home from a golf outing. The place was packed, we didn't have reservations and Debbie who worked the front door, worked her magic and seated us. As we waited for a table, we headed to the bar where the very busy bartender took our drink order and had us taken care of very promptly. Our dinner was amazing. We shared an order of the best onion rings. I had the grilled chicken and my husband ordered the 10 ounce ribeye. Both cooked to perfection. The servers are attentive. A lot of them buzzing about. Great atmosphere with really delicious food and variety. Service was excellent as well! Ahi avocado salad very fresh and very tasty with the sesame coating. Onions rings also good seasoning and nicely battered. The chicken burger looked good and the sweet potato fries very addicting. I don't eat gluten normally but had a few bites of the hot bourbon bread pudding and it was very very good!
