While in Boerne, I popped in around lunchtime and was greeted with an empty bar! At any rate, I had their lager, which was very nice, and chatted up the bartender for a bit. Their craft-brewed options all sounded pretty good, so based on what I had, I'll have to go back - unfortunately, I am not local to Boerne! We visited Free Roam Brewing Company for their Super Bowl special and paid $25 per person. The staff initially provided good customer service and were friendly, which we appreciated. However, during the Super Bowl halftime, the broadcast was switched to a different program (Turning Point) instead of the official Super Bowl halftime show. This was very disappointing, especially since this was a paid event and there was no prior notice that the halftime show would not be shown. When we asked about the change and requested a partial refund due to the lack of transparency, the owner's wife refused to discuss the concern and appeared upset that we even asked. When the owner, Jeremy, became involved, the situation escalated. He stated that because we are minorities, it didn't matter, and told us that it was his business and that they didn't need our business. We felt disrespected, insulted, and belittled based on our race and appearance. This experience was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. We chose to leave early because of how the situation was handled. It's unfortunate because the event started off well, but respectful communication, transparency, and treating all customers with dignity should be a priority for any business. read more

We went on 2/8/26 Free Roam advertised a Super Bowl watch party that included reserved seating to watch the game, a bbq plate, and snacks. We went there with expectations to watch the game including the Super Bowl half time show. We enjoyed drinks and were patiently and eagerly waiting to watch the half time show. When the time came the channel on all the televisions were changed to an alternative entertainment show. This was unexpected and I asked for a partial refund as the channel was changed and I didn't not get to watch a portion of the scheduled program we paid for a reserve seat to watch. I feel it is impotent to note that on their advertisement/post it was not stated at all that there would be an alternative program displayed during the Super Bowl Halftime show if there was we would've opted to view the game at another location so that we could enjoy the Super Bowl in its entirety. Upon speaking to the first of the owners I brought up my concern was told that the ticket I paid for was for food only and we ate the included meal I mentioned how the ad was also for the reserved seating during the Super Bowl but the program was changed she stated that we could leave and would no longer speak to me. Upon speaking to the second owner he mentioned we payed to watch only the game portion of the Super Bowl only and that they played the game and it is their business and they can choose to change to the alternative entertainment show if they want. I mentioned he is correct that it is his establishment but the advertisement was deceptive as it was not specified the program would be changed during the Super Bowl Halftime show. The owner mentioned that we were minorities which did not seem relative to the discussion we were having and even mentioned that perhaps it was their fault for not specifying on their advertisement they would only be showing the game portions of the Super Bowl. We've been going to Free Roam since 2022 during their soft opening. We've seen the business grow and seen them add on to their venue. Been there for game nights and date nights and have even brought our dog. We've always had a pleasant experience with their waitstaff. This was our first interaction with the owners and not one we were expecting to have. We've never been so disrespected at a business and spoken to so lowly. The owners made it very clear we are only a number and not a significant one and sadly I don't see us returning to Free Roam as we don't feel welcome at this establishment. read more

It's Christmas Eve, my wife and I went out for a drive and ended up at Free Roam Brewing Company, first off, Boerne TX is a great little spot to visit. The place was busy, football on all the TVs and plenty of seating inside and out. Nothing in terms of food here, good thing we stopped at Buc-ees on the way in. Chips and cookies were available, we stopped for the beers. Service was great, they stayed busy the entire time we were here. Good beer selection, and a friendly crowd. Visited on a Thursday evening and this place was HOPPIN!' (Pun intended!) There was a decent size crowd inside & out, several big screens with Local Boerne HS & NFL games on. Friendly ppl. We each just had 1 beer and really enjoyed them. My husband got his favorite- an IPA, and I- a golden stout. Both really good! We sat outside @ picnic tables. There was a stage out back, and a bunch of tables, outdoor bar/taps, covered areas & a food truck on site. Food truck out back was good too! Mexican food variety of Nachos to burritos. A fun time at Octoberfest 2025. I had a red ale (20oz) and wife had can of diet coke for $14. Seemed a little pricey but we enjoyed ourselves. We ate a pizza from the food truck " imperfect pizza" and it was tasty. Several venders selling their wares there. It was Octoberfest and we expected to hear some om-pa-pa German music but didn't. They have a really nice setup, both inside, and outside in their back yard area. They have a good selection of beer, and they usually have live music, and a food truck in the back yard on weekends. They have great unique flavors (ex this is close to valentines/St. Patrick's day and they had an Irish stout and a chocolate red ale). They do live music, weekly events, support the community, have 3 food trucks on site, inside/outside bar and seating, bathrooms inside. They allow outside food. So, this place was packed inside and out. The service for beer was quick. The inside was a but loud and seemed a bit small for the crowd, but it worked. The outside back was filled with tables, vendors, food trucks, and live music. I can say a great meet and great for friends. There were kids and pets also, maybe a bit much for a bar/brewery, but a must, I would say to check out. The egg rolls are a must to try. A healthy heap of ramen comes with your rolls. I had enjoyed this place since moving here. The bartenders had been sweet, the vibe was nice I had been making friends. Super Bowl and being A MINORITY ruined that for me. As a Hispanic woman--hearing the owner tell a whole family "you're the minority here, you can leave." I mean--it's your establishment. You make the rules. You change the channel. You can also choose to be above the hate that is already in the world. I truly don't understand why as an owner you would think this approach is the best one? America is a melting pot, when are we gonna get past this nonsense? This was an opportunity to gain more clients. (Plus us Hispanics love to drink, come on now lol) Lastly, not sure why you as an owner allow your dog to run around off leash when dog safety in TX in general is a huge thing. Considering a dog who is a bite risk is a concern. Not sure why their dog's butt was allowed on-top of a table top where people eat as well. As a huge San Francisco Giants fan you have to understand the excitement I had when I found out I was this close to Affeldts brewery. I heard him talk about it all the time back home on the radio. We happened to be down the street and I was told to go check it out. The atmosphere is super cool, the Orange and black brought me back to the yard back home. The beer selection cool, and tasty. Big back yard Beer Garden and tons of space for gathering. There were two food trucks/trailers there when we went, and they are dog friendly too! #41 wasn't there when we visited but I hope to catch him next time we are in! If you are looking for a small brewery, a sports fanatic place, or somewhere the locals make you feel welcome. Free Roam Brewery is by far one of the best places you could stop. On Tuesdays they have trivia, but it's not like the other locations near SA that have trivia, the locals are so welcoming that that make you feel like you need to be back the next week to play against them again, or maybe even just join their team. On Mondays they have some sort of running club, which may not be my thing, but it's a thing for someone, and maybe you are that someone! The community of Boerne is EXTREMELY lucky to have gotten such a clean and friendly location on Main Street. A nice place and really inviting great prices, recently opened so I decided to go check out their selection, I booked two flights and did a tournament, and here are the results in front of you (From worst to best): Watermelon wheat -A very light beer, with the addition of watermelon flavor, the smell was Repulsive, the connection between them did not fit. Lager - Disappointment, the beer that was supposed to be the most basic was just not tasty. Mango wheat - Like the previous ones - a relatively light beer, a strong smell of mango, a light taste of mango, nothing special Blonde - An excellent beer, relatively classic blonde with a gentle sweetness, I enjoyed Porter - the taste of coffee is noticeable but in the right measure, the bubbles level is too low and the color deep black, Excellent taste and meets the definition of a sandal between Porter and Stout. IPA - Excellent taste but weak body, not disappointing but also not surprising. Maiback - The best of the selection, quality German beer with a stable body and a precise bitter finish, every drop is enjoyable. Cider - A refreshing apple beer, an intoxicating aroma and a brilliant taste, highly recommended for changing flavors between tasting one beer and another. read more
