Wow. That's all I have to say. These hot dogs are the absolute best I've ever had. Perfect snap on the dog and perfect amount of char-grilled exterior. Best buns too; soft but still had a good amount of texture. And these dogs are absolutely ENORMOUS. Seriously at $4 a dog these are a steal. Chili Cheese Dog: Absolutely delicious. Small amount of jalapeno that really added to the flavor. Plain Dawg: These are just good plain with some ketchup. Chicago Dog: Best version of the classic I've ever had. The Food here is very good and the service very friendly. However, you never know when T.J. is going to be at Lowes on Plano Rd. When you call to ask where they are for the day, sometimes they answer and sometimes it goes to Voice Mail. Why don't you have a recorded message Saying "Hello today is Friday July 20th and we'll be at Lowe's in Richardson from 10 AM to 6 PM". If you want to build a loyal customer base then you need to act like a business and have regular hours and let your customers know where you are going to be everyday. Just a thought!! read more

Wow, Great Chicago style dogs. My wife and I each had one plus we split an Italian beef sandwich with giardinera. Nice crunch on the grilled hot dog skin and all the fixings made it feel like back in the city. Only 2 tables outside the food truck so timing is key to sitting down. Go to the Richardson Lowe's not for lumber, nails or bagged mulch....go to this food truck. It is dinner and a show, the owner (from NY sporting his Red Sox hat with fierce pride) is a big personality and since I'm a Yankee too I felt right at home! We split a Chicago dog (fully loaded and you dress your own dog which is cool) and it was AWESOME! Sport peppers, tomato slices, fresh crunchy diced onions, yellow mustard and the ABSOLUTE glue - celery salt. My next trip will be to try a Maxwell Street Polish, my 2nd all time favorite dog. Just had a great hot dog with mustard and kraut at TJ's on this fall day...couldn't have better and hit the spot !!!! Now off to shop.

I happened to stumble on this little hot dog stand one evening when leaving the movie theater. I had heard about the Chicago style hot dog, but never really saw a place where you could get one. I stepped up and told TJ I wanted one of those Chicago hot dogs. TJ's personality is great and actually makes going here a lot of fun. TJ told me that these hot dogs were rated as the best hot dogs in the country. TJ gave me my dog..which is large and comes in an equally large bun that can stand up to lots of stuff being put on the dog. It was a great hot dog! I went a couple of weeks later prior to going the movies and tried the Boston Bean dog. A 1/4 lb dog with baked beans and melted cheddar cheese on it....fantastic! Between joking with TJ, and enjoying a large variety of great tasting hot dogs, this place is fantastic! If you're heading to Home Depot for one of those "depot dogs", take a turn instead to TJ's place next to best buy. You won't be disappointed you did. read more

This is a hard review for me to write, I love this place so much it's hard to put it in words. My first time going here about 3 weeks ago I was in love. The hot dogs are incredible and TJ has got to be one of the nicest guys I've ever met. His passion for his food is inherent in the first bite. In a state generally boasting very good food, but noticeably hot dog-challenged, TJ's serves the tastiest and best frankfurter deal in the state...that is, as far as my experience is concerned, and I'm not one to pass up an opportunity to imbibe the noble tube steak when it's made available. He serves a natural casing Vienna Beef, the Chicago royalty of dogs, perfectly prepared on the grill, and offers a full complement of condiments, including the fixins for a Chicago style ("run it through the garden") hot dog. If you've never tried this variety of hot dog adornment, odds are you'll be fascinated by the multiple textures, temperatures and resiliency. I like 'em. Searching for an Italian beef in Dallas,Tx is very difficult but I came across TJ's Dawg House thru google. To give it a try wouldn't hurt so I went and order 2 Italian needs which one was comfortable a person that's a pescatarian but he had to agree with me when I said it was one of my top 5 Italian beef places. It was so good we went the very next day. My only concern was my bread was a little to long but that's wasn't nothing I couldn't fix on my own but it was most definitely a lot of meat and the hot peppers was the original peppers. I have to say that TJ is a amazing, professional and very friendly man. I have to give credit where it is due and him being on his food truck alone is giving me the extra push I need to do what's already planned. So thanks for the delicious amazing Italian beefs. I don't think of food as a check mark on a to-do list because I was brought up to appreciate that food is about people. TJ's Dawghouse Food Truck opened recently near the front doors at the Lowe's at Plano Rd. and Beltline Rd. here in Richardson. If you like GOOD sausage on a bun with a nice selection of optional ingredients to go with it YOU REALLY SHOULD TRY THIS PLACE ! TJ told me he came down from Vermont about a year ago (met a Texas girl?) where he had originally cut his teeth in the sausage business in both a food truck and brick-and-mortar establishment. So I Googled TJ's Dawghouse and, sure enough, there are a number of rather positive reviews (all 5-Star as far as I could tell) from clients up east that mirror what I have experienced here. What I have tasted (I am about 2/3 the way through his menu) at TJ's is high-quality sausage (NO hot dogs) offered in a number of combinations at good prices in a very clean food service environment. Say again--clean. I am a Native Texan and what I see in TJ's passion for his sausage is a lot like the passion I have seen for years in die-hard Texas Barbecue fanatics. TJ's sausage--like really good Barbecue--is personal. Just listen to him talk about it while he is fixing up your order. If you are like me and did not grow up eating the types of sausage that are famous in Chicago and Wisconsin and points northeast then you might want to head over to Lowe's with the excuse of buying a screwdriver or something. Buy some sausage to eat there or take it home to eat with the family. Either way, visit TJ's Dawghouse and I bet you will experience tasty sausage (or sliced beef) prepared quickly and served up with TJ's always positive and infectious personality. Dollar Menu ? NO. TJ Dawg house is a fraud. I normally would never commit on a taste issue but if you advertise " Chicago Hot Dog " with pictures you better deliver. 1st of chicago dogs are boiled not grilled... WTF! 2nd chicago dogs go on a poppyseed hot dog bun not a hoggie bun. 3rd you don't put pickle slices on a chicago dog you put a pickle spear. Look I never would of said anything if this place don't advertise with PICS that they served Chicago STYLE hot dogs. Further more the grilled dog was rubbery so I can't even say the hot dog was good it was old and over cooked. This is false advertisement at its finest. 40 degrees on Christmas Eve and this place is not only open, but serving the best Italian beef I've had outside of Chicago. Seriously great with the giardiniera on it. The Chicago dog was great too. Everything is there and unlike most places, you get to put on the relish, onion, sport peppers and mustard yourself. They also have the essential celery salt to put on it. Thank God for Yelp leading me to this gem of a place. I was hungry and loaded up Yelp to try something different. You would think, "nothing different about hotdogs." Well you are in for a surprise. I made it to the location and walked up to a guy with his head leaned out the window of the food truck takin orders. There were several people ordering and eating. Everyone had a smile on their face. And I was getting more excited to test this food out. Now I was up to bat and the guy sticks his head out. I asked for a recommendation and he says the well known yet simple Chicago Dog. I obliged and asked also for the Italian Beef as well. Yes he does more than hotdogs folks. While he cooked my order we chat about random stuff. Turns out he is the owner and works his butt off everyday making the locals and wayfarers happy. He was a very humble genuine guy. He hands me my food and then tells me, "let me know what you think." I ripped through that big tasty Chicago Dog before a word came out my mouth. "Hands down best I have ever had." I said. Went out looking for a really good hot dog for July 4th, and boy did I find it! Had the chili dog with Chicago style relish and horseradish mustard. Per. Fec. Tion! All the hot dogs are 1/4 pound Vienna Beef and have that nice snap that's so hard to find. You're getting an $8 hot dog for around $3- $5 so the value is through the roof.
