Looks good on the outside it's what's on the inside that concerns me

I hate to do this but I was extremely disappointed! My family stopped in after driving 7 hrs. It was rated well and overall looked like a good spot! They had a great variety of food. Three of the four of us decided to get burgers. At first the server said that they only have two patties left and that, that never happens. A moment later the waitress said somebody came back with more patties. Thankful cause I really wanted a burger we decided to order! The presentation of the food looked really good when it arrived at the table. I was a bit concerned that my meat wouldn't stay together. I noticed that it had quite a bit of gristle or fat in it. Actually that's an under statement. The fat content was the most I've ever seen in burger in my life, and the size of the pieces of gristle and fat in my burger was literally the size of nickels! I was so disgusted. I only ate fries. I know it wasn't the waitresses fault and I should've said something. Our whole bill cost $127 and we still tipped the waitress $22 for a total of $149. With as much as they charge for these meals, I don't understand why they couldn't get a decent grade of meat!

Clearly great home cooked food! Awesome Tri-tip salad, Pulled pork. Homemade potato chips! Homemade croutons on salad! Great food choice in Colfax!

My second time here. Tuesday 11 AM Ish. I decided on chicken fried steak and eggs. The meat and the batter were good, the gravy was kind of odd almost a mix of brown gravy and southern gravy with a sprinkle of paprika. The potatoes/onion/peppers tasted like the grill itself. The scrambled eggs were perfect. The sourdough toast was good. The coffee was good. The service was excellent. Overall kind of disappointed since the first time I came here it was so good. Maybe a third try to see where I come out on this place.?

Stopped to see this "world famous " stop - lunch was a club and onion rings. Daughter had grill cheese and fries. Had an order of fresh fruit too. After the meal we realized why it is famous and a must stop for a meal. Service was great and the prices reasonable as well. Lots of good choices. Wines / pizza / breakfast and burgers. Right off the highway 80 and plenty of parking. We will be back.

Decided to stop and get a bite to eat before getting too far up the road and saw a billboard that said this place. Place wasn't busy as we got there before lunch rush, I ordered a diet chin burger (1patty) which was more than what I could finish so I came home with half a burger. Fries were nice and hot/crispy. Service was nice, friendly and attentive. Would definitely be back next time through to try another delicious meal.

Fire. Go here definitely. Server was nice, tasty food. Inside is themed like a cabin. Very cool

Service was great ... food was good ..little skimpy on the meat for the pulled pork but the pile high was definitely worth 17. Uncharged for sides was a bit steep at 3 bux a pop. Definitely will stop again when we head this way. We will stick with fries or chips though

They have a very fun menu. Make sure you read all the items. I ordered the chicken sandwich, got it fried with lettuce, tomato, Ortega chili, cheese, and avocado on grilled sour dough. It came with salsa, which was perfect because instead of fries my husband got the home made tater chips. He ordered the tuna sandwich with bacon. The bacon was thick and crispy and delicious. Service was good, but slow. I like the bar area, and can see this place get very busy and probly loud, but a good time. Food is good, definitely recommend for a nice sized lunch.

This place is definitely the highlight of our stay in Colfax. This restaurant is right off the highway and it has great parking, good vibes and great cooking. The portions are huge, which was a pleasant surprise! My friend and I were staying in the area and we wanted to eat somewhere with good food options to fuel us for the trip ahead! We came for dinner and my friend had a burger and I had the chicken strips with buffalo sauce. The chicken strips were a standard size portion and just enough food for me, but the burger was an enormous meal! My friend could only eat half of it and had to take the rest home. Good place for good food and fast service! We would definitely come here again if we are in the area or driving through.

This place definitely had a homemade cooking feel to it. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered several different items including the clownifornia burger - had a fried egg on it with avocado, chili relleno sandwich - was cheesy and made with sourdough bread, double chin burger - very big with 2 patties and onion rings, turkey dip was fresh and hot, the potato salad was phenomenal and highly recommend it, fries for each meal were great, onion rings and jalapeño poppers were also fabulous. Kids hot dog and corn dog meals were good choices for kids. Can't say enough great things about this place. Very tasty! Has the hole in wall and homemade cooking feel to it. Check them out!

Really good breakfast with quick service on our drive up the 80 freeway. Dog friendly too! TJ's scramble (4/5) delicious mix of veggies with egg and ham. Hash browns were perfectly crispy. I had this with French toast which was okay. I liked the pancake more. * I did ask for jalapeños on the side and was charged $1. FYI. New York steak and eggs (5/5) Cooked perfectly for my husband with scrambled eggs. He got a pancake on the side and that was also delicious. Place has a cool vibe to it. Bill came out to $46 for 2. Coffee was okay. Id probably stop by if we were in the area again.

    Clownifornia Burger, no bun.

We tried dessert this time and were not disappointed. I had the Bison short rib and boy was it terrific. The meat was tender and flavorful. The asparagus also was fork tender and so tasty. This was one of the days specials and I had to try it. I literally cleaned my plate, it was that good. Wife and 1 kiddo got the ribeye and they were huge. They each took almost a half steak home with them. I had to sample a few bites first of course. My other child ordered the pulled pork and a clam chowder. She didn't care too much for the sweet BBQ sauce on it. So we ordered a burger, which she absolutely loved. They graciously marked down the sandwich, which was very nice, as we planned to pay for it and take it home anyways. For dessert we split the key lime pie and Blackberry Honey Lavender cheesecake. Both of them were amazing. So tart and tangy for the key lime it was really refreshing. The cheesecake was fantastic and the honey taste really came through. We never got dessert before, but plan to do it again. If you're ever in the area you gotta try it. Just make sure to get reservations. They have short operating hours, but it's so worth it. The service is phenomenal and they really treat you right. It's really one of our family favorites when we come up.

The staff is courteous and friendly, and they check on you during almost every course to get feedback. The dim lighting, personal lamp on every table, and white tablecloths give it the classic steakhouse feel. They used to have these cool light-up menus that illuminated as you opened them. I'm a little sad they don't have those anymore due to vendor issues--it was a small, thoughtful detail that really made a mark on me. The food is great. The steak is always perfectly seasoned--not overly salty or overdone, just right to the point where I don't need to add anything else. Even the roasted bulb of garlic that comes with the steak is perfect for adding extra flavor if I want to. The sides are what you'd expect from a classic steakhouse. One thing that sets them apart, though, is the bread. They always have a great variety, plus a huge helping of butter on the side. If this place were closer to home, I'd probably be here every other month. So it's probably a good thing that it's far away.

We both ordered the twin tails, which have gone up in price and down in quality, since our last visit. The lobster was undercooked, chewy with an odd purple color and unappetizing texture. I asked for mine to be cooked more, my husband did not, as he does not send food back. When it was brought back, it was still not cooked all the way and still had a translucent look on one side. It remained chewy and unappetizing, rather than the delicious and savory lobster we have enjoyed in the past. The mashed potatoes, which used to be to die for, were just ok and the portion size has shrunk. The arugula dish on the plate was merely ok as well. It used to be so tasty that I tried to recreate it at home, this was just a bit of salty and bitter greens. The bread was not served until after the meal arrived and they were out of the yummy brown bread. This meal seemed hastily thrown together, rather than thoughtfully prepared, as it as been in the past. It was very disappointing. We did enjoy the music on the patio, which added ambience to the outdoor dining experience. The "anniversary menu" they gave us was a nice touch.

FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience!
