Good burger and fries if only the burger patty was not so thin - it was not worth the money

Came into TK Burgers to hear a whole lot of cussing from a customer. Horrible things said, like calling the worker the B word, threatening and harassing her. She ran up to her face at some point and caused a huge scene with other customers in here. Mind you I had my kids with me. Point of this review is there are always two sides to something. People take advantage and act entitled to treat others however they want. She took our order after and to our surprise she had brushed off everything that just happened to her and took us very professionally and with a smile on her face. Exact same experience as another person leaving a review 7 days ago. The girl behind the counter accused my husband and I of being rude when adding a drink to the combo burger. When I asked to speak to a manager, she mocked me stating there are no managers. I walked out with out my food as I wouldn't want her to do something to my order. She followed us out creating a scene and mocking us with crying fist emojis. WOW! she even wrote my license plate down! WHAT?!? I came here to meet a gf for lunch. Interestingly enough, its located next to "the Lab" strip mall where my beloved Havana and Gypsy Den Cafe are located. Where that location has parking limitations when its packed, this location TK burgers is even more limited. Its soo compact, that I had difficulty parking in a spot. The pros: its clean and service is pretty fast. I know it can be busy during lunch. The fries were crispy and good. The cons: Parking, location was a little hard to get to via GPS. The taste of the burger, quality and overall meh. I ordered their TK Big Bargain special which was a hamburger, and had a choice to use Mozarella Cheese. This burger was prepared over an open flame, came with Mazrella cheese, lettuce, Tomatoe, pickle, and hamburger bun. This burger came with fries, and there is a sign that says "no substitutions" ok. If you want a drink its extra, if you want onion rings its $3.00 + extra, no substitutions!! For about $7.45ish for a meal, thats a hamburger and fries, and no drink ; I thought the only thing worth eating was the fries. Like Nijole T. said in 2017 , its "meh" , no taste, poor taste, and not worth the price or worth going back. Id rather pay the same amount or less and go to in and out instead where the quality is better and there is taste! Thank you, but I pass. No Bueno for Burgers. So pretty much if you've spent any time around the Costa Mesa or Newport area then you've been to TK as it's basically the go to burger joint for what's always good! TK means one thing Big Bargain Special as that's what's always good here as it's basically a cheese burger with fries combo which is totally yummy but if you want the drink it's a bit extra so don't count it all out! For many years it's been TK in the area we gone here soo many times for what I will say is a delicious beach style burger as it just taste like it's fresh from the grill with those onions cheese lettuce tomato and yummy grill flavor tell the very end! They have this yummy thousand island style sauce that you gotta ask them for it goes great on the fries or kicks your burger up a notch so don't forget to ask them for it. There is a few other options here besides burgers but I've never gotten them I've always stuck with the Bargain Special as it's a good amount of food! Overall I'm sure I'll be back to TK in the not so distant future for what's always delicious in it's burger type way! read more

So I doordashed yesterday from TK burgers for my boyfriend, best friend and I. We got three bargain burgers, one lettuce wrapped, a salad, and a lemonade. When my order arrived my drink was definitely not pink lemonade... it was a soda of some kind. There were only 2 fries out of the three we were owed. But that's not even bad compared to what I saw when I opened my salad box... there was dust or dirt covering the entire inside of the box. I thought at first it was little spiders. And it was under the salad as well. It was also pretty obvious, so whomever packaged that salad, saw the dirt and didn't care to grab a new box?? I was beyond grossed out. That's for sure a health code violation. Anyways, so I called the store and asked for the manager just so they would hopefully know what was going on in their restaurant but I was told by an employee that he wasn't there very often. She asked if I needed anything and I explained what happened and she said that the dust was from the bread??? I have no idea what that means? She told me to request a refund from door dash. I told her I wasn't looking for free food but I was worried about health safety for other guests considering I don't think it was a coincidence that the three of us had stomach problems a couple of hours after eating here. read more

So it came down like this - we were trying to get to a sandwich place in The LAB, but there was zero parking, even in the valet section. As we drove down the street, we spotted TK's, advertising burgers and sandwiches, and we agreed to give them a try. We parked in their private lot, right where the grill smoke wafts out of the kitchen. Mmmm, chargrilled burgers smell fantastic, even though I rarely eat beef. Floating on that sensory high, we walked in to the ordering area, and right back into my 60's childhood! I swear the turquoise paint and kitschy colored chunky textural light globes were a throwback to my mom's decor aesthetic. Throw in the surfer vibe in the dining room, and my trip down childhood memory lane was complete. We tried to sit outside at first, but it was too cold in the shade under the mid-century mod metal umbrellas. Back inside to await our order, which was the Big Combo (Single Cheeseburger and fries, no drink), and an ahi sandwich. Having just had a similar meal at The Habit earlier in the week, it was easy to compare, and TK's didn't deliver the wow factor, sadly. For about the same money, the quality was a downgrade, as was the quantity. We guess that TK's is a small O.C. chain, and long-popular, but to us, they need to step up their game. My fish was overcooked, lacked flavor and oddly included green bell peppers. Not a good choice, in my opinion. Even picking them out didn't get it done. I like bell peppers, just not in that sandwich. DH's burger featured a bland tomato, and sad-looking lettuce. They charged 50 cents to grill the onion, but neglected to mention it. At least a choice of cheese was offered. The taste didn't live up to the savory scent of the smoke we'd first encountered. The ordering personnel were pleasant, and the vibe is fun and funky (though in need of a refresh in some areas), but the food didn't hold up its end of the bargain. Quality in food has really declined. Granted, the last time I was here was in 2011. However, the cleanliness, menu, and food looked different. The chicken sandwich had the thinnest chicken patty and so much lettuce. The fries were okay. You pay for your burger, fries, and drink around $10. This is located in a 80's retro building that is pretty small. TK Burgers has really good burgers- great meat and bread ratio. My goto is the cheese burger. The fries and onion rings are mediocre. The price is really good! The combo is their best seller. Ive tried the ribeye burger that was okay but their regular burgers is my recommendation. read more

The idea that a burger taste better than In-n-out is so far fetched for me. As an In-n-out Loyalist and fanatic, I'll swear that In-n-out is the best till my last dying breath. In the meantime, there will be a lot of other competitors out there. One of my childhood best friends love TK burger. In fact, he says it's better than In-n-out. Alas, as usual he is wrong.... I feel like TK burger is a tasty burger. It really is. It has a genuine charbroiled taste. It taste like Carls. Jr which is known for their Charbroiled smoky patties. Now that isn't a knock on TK Burger. Most of my homies from Taiwan also think that Carls. Jr taste In-n-out. Personally for me, I don't like that smoky patty in a burger. I feel like this is a good spot in the area but I don't think it beats In-n-out. Super friendly staff. Great sauces. Cool spot. Definitely give it a shot. JY read more

What can I say? This place should be the standard for burger and fries. I have gone to several TK's in Orange County and they always rock it! A little secret; they have a great breakfast as well! I'm not sure what the magic is about this place, but they make the most of what they have. It's not the location. You've probably driven by this place and never knew it was there. It looks more like a shack than a mansion. It's certainly not the interior design and decor. You'll find stickers everywhere, notices taped to the walls and counters, and a menu that is all over the place, including specials and modifications to the regular items here. It's not the staff, who are surly and sometimes act like you are bothering them, and give service with a yell of your name or your number and then leave you be. But the mainstay here - the burgers and fries - are amazing and complete deliciousness. I challenge you to do this - purchase a burger here, and purchase a burger anywhere else - including the Del Taco next door, or the McDonalds down the street from here, and then take a bite of each. You'll note an immediate difference in the incredible flavor here. I don't know if it's grill seasoning, or onions, or a sprinkle of salt, pepper, MSG or something else, but the flavor of the burgers here are amazing. Combined with the pillowy buns, the crunch of the extremely fresh iceberg lettuce, the fresh tomatoes, and the acid of the pickles and onions, the burgers here taste amazing. The fries are also seasoned and cooked perfectly. The burgers here have a lot in common with In-N-Out, which is a compliment. You won't find a drive-through here, and much lower lines (although a strangely laid out parking lot). Fresh, and flavorful, and delicious, this place is a winner. read more

My newest favorite burger joint when we're here in on the OC- Don't judge a book by its cover, right? It's not fancy-shmancy at all compared to being across the street from The Camp and walking distance from The Lab. It actually oddly looks out of place. Its run down looking -looks like it was left standing from the 60s ' okay truthfully it's ALOT run down looking! It looks abandoned from the front and I was hesitant to even eat here. Walking in- I immediately felt at home. :) I felt like I was somewhere on The NorthShore. Like at a local hang spot after being on the beach. Nostalgic vintage style beach island flair. Photos of beaches, the surf, surfers and my most favorite thing about this place is the old skool island posters on the ceiling! Super cool! We ordered 2 Big Bargain Combos -Simple charbroiled but tasty cheese burgers on an egg type bun, a special sauce, red onion, lettuce & condiments how you like it served with golden fries/ 1 Mini Bargain cheeseburger w/ onion rings. Served on the cheapest thin 1ply paper plate -lol but hey it's works! Ohhh and I love their small cubed -nugget ice ?. ) crunchy thin ice that make Coke /soda That more refreshing- Ahhh. Pretty inexpensive for Costa Mesa even Mc Donald's & decent size portions. The reason the place looked abandoned is because everyone walks here to eat because you parked at the nearby Malls. Omg! One bite of my well done burger from TK Burger tonight, no onions, and there was a foreign hard thing in my mouth! I thought it was likely bone from the ground beef, which would be slightly acceptable if using cheap beef, but it was an approx 2 inch long, quarter inch piece of black metal that could have killed me if I swallowed it! Wth! Called and was told "oh yeah, totally our fault, its from the scraper the cook uses" and then offered a free burger to replace it. Yeah! Totally your fault! This place was a staple when I was growing up. Some of the best memories we had were coming here with the boys and grinding a big bargain special. Sadly, it has gone tremendously downhill. Fries are different and worse and probably a money saving method at the sacrifice of quality. The buns used to taste great. They had a patent on the bread. Today it tastes off and not what it used to be. Definitely cutting corners every route possible. When I was in there most recently every order came back with complaints. "My fries are cold," or "this burger is over cooked" etc... I hate to say I won't be back, but when I see Trump memorabilia on the wall it makes me never want to step foot in there again. Trump merch ain't welcome in my town. You want to fly that stuff, I will gladly see to it that your business goes under. How have I been working and living in Costa Mesa for almost a year and never been to TK Burger? I don't know. On this lovely day, I decided to slip out of my rock that I've been living under to try these simply delicious burgers on a Friday afternoon. FOOD: I ordered the mini meal - the name sounds deceiving but it's actually pretty filling for an 118-pound girl like me! I got fries and a drink with this meal. The burger is really delicious and simple and the fries are great! I would consider coming back just for the fries but then probably end up ordering the burger haha LOCATION: It doesn't look pretty from the outside or the inside. It's like a burger shack. The inside has some serious personality with their gumball machine, all the stickers stuck on the roof, and the frames on the walls.
