Tipping is optional, but definitely deserved--they take their time and pay close attention to detail. My cuticles were thoroughly cleaned without me having to ask, which I really appreciate. Lynn has over 20 years of experience, and it shows. Vanessa was also very skilled and so sweet. I had such a great experience that I booked my next appointment before leaving--something I've never done with a nail salon before. Definitely make an appointment--they're busy for a reason. Also, come early since parking is limited. My services took about 1 hour and 45 minutes, a bit longer than other places, but absolutely worth it for the quality. I needed a pedicure, STAT, and I was so glad that Tk Nail Salon was able to get me in and out of there in about 30 minutes. AND it was a great, no frills, yet quality-filled experience! Parking is a little tight, but I found a spot right away. There's a small row of shops and the nail salon is tucked in, so just make sure you don't miss it, given that it's on Vineland. It's kind of a wonky intersection, but if you follow your Maps app, you'll figure out the right turn, and determine where to park. I parked right in front of the store. I walked in, I was told to wash my hands and then I got to pick out a color of nail polish. The kind lady got me seated right away in one of their seats and had the warm/hot water prepared for my feet. She cleaned up shop, painted my nails, I had some time to allow the polish to dry and $21+ tip later, I was on my way! I visited TK Nails in North Hollywood and left feeling uncomfortable, judged, and publicly singled out. When I walked in, the energy already felt off. I was told to pick a color, but then I was told I needed to wash my hands before selecting one. I have been to this salon before and do not remember ever being asked to do that prior to picking a color. I offered a reasonable alternative: I could point to the color I wanted and staff could pick it up for me so I would not touch anything. Instead, the situation escalated. Staff and another customer began speaking at me about it, (snapping at me) and I felt embarrassed and treated as if I was dirty or less worthy of service. As a person of color, I left feeling singled out and unwelcome. I can only speak to my own experience, but I would caution others who are sensitive to being treated differently in public spaces to read reviews carefully before choosing this salon. If this is truly a salon policy, it should be clearly posted and applied consistently to every customer. read more

This was my first time coming here and unfortunately it'll also be my last. I drove out hoping to find a new regular spot, but the experience just wasn't worth it. I got a regular polish French tip mani and a pedi, and the total came out to $60 with tip. I did like the pedicure -- that's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. But the manicure was really disappointing. The French tips were uneven and honestly looked like I did them myself. The older lady doing my nails seemed frustrated, and it felt like the process was harder for her. What really threw me off was the communication. I walked in saying clearly that I wanted a French tip, but after shaping my nails she told me she "wouldn't have cut them short if she knew," even though that's the first thing I said. It felt like she was trying to blame me for something that didn't make sense. The part that made me most uncomfortable was when she asked me to pay before she even painted my nails. I didn't see them do that to anyone else, and it felt awkward because I wanted to see the results before deciding on a tip. Still, I paid and even Zelled the tip. The pedicure lady was nice overall, but the experience and treatment were just odd and unprofessional. Definitely my first and last visit. read more

This is my second time coming to this nail salon and despite what some reviews may say, my experience wasn't bad at all. I only ever get my nails done on special occasions and vacations so I'm still kind of new to the idea of going to a nail salon. I came around 6pm (they close at 7pm), was greeted warmly and seated straight away. While I did have a ginormous box of nail colors thrown right at me, I did have one lovely lady instantly work on my pedicure while another worked on my manicure and gel nail polish application. I must also say, I came in with the most raggedly nails ‍ my nails have been so thin and weak that they were all different lengths and some oddly shaped that I felt bad for the lady working on my hands I let them know about my embarrassment but they were so funny about it, it didn't phase them at all! They both did a great job both on my feet and hands despite my circumstances. I did feel like the experience was a bit rushed as most of the staff has already left by 6:30pm but other than that, I had a really nice experience. If you're looking for a place that doesn't have all the bells and whistles and you're looking just to get the job done, then I highly recommend! read more

This review is way past due. I love TK Nail--I've been coming here for years. I usually get my nails done by Dana, but I love everyone that works there. They all do a great job. Granted, I get the same exact color and shape every time, but everyone I've sent to TK has thanked me. It's friendly, affordable, and I love that they often have Judge Judy or Price is Right on in the background. It's a quality, unfussy place, and I always leave loving my nails. Note, it's by appointment, and they don't take card. They DO take plenty of other forms of payment, and they make it very easy. 10/10. read more

I used to come here A LONG TIME ago, but since moving jobs, it was too out of the way. The problem is, I can't seem to find a nail salon that I really like. So I decided to make the drive. It's worth it. Based on pictures and reviews, I made my appointment with Linda. I wasn't disappointed at all. She paid attention to details. She made sure that my nails were even and took her time in doing so. I trust her with my nails completely. It is now day 4 and my nails are still looking great. I've been washing dishes and cleaning. My nails still look amazing and un-phased with all the "heavy duty" chores I've been doing. What I didn't see is if they use a fresh pack. She didn't open one in front of me for sure. I got my nails done here a week ago and I was so pleased with the results. A week later and my nails still look great (just a regular manicure, not gel!!). They were able to squeeze me in last minute and gave me a beautiful manicure. Lyn (short for Jocelyn) did my nails and she was fantastic. Super sweet, gentle, and efficient! And only $11 for a manicure! I will definitely be returning. Take note- they are by appointment only. Try to Call ahead if you need to come in last minute (like I did). They do have two massage chairs. My only complaint is that their nail colors are not organized in any way. It would be much easier to pick out a color if they organized them by shade. read more

I went to TK two Saturdays ago when i heard salons were open. I was so happy to finally get pampered again. I got a very sweet woman to do my gel manicure and a different one to do my pedicure. The one who did my gel manicure - I absolutely loved her. I'm deaf (wear a cochlear implant) but with all the mask covering it's impossible to really understand people. She lowered her mask to ask me questions which I so appreciated. She was very precise, took her time and they came out so beautifully. Over a week later and my nails are still in great condition! I'm out of town until the end of July but I can't wait to have her do my nails again. I wish I caught her name so I could make an appt with her. I make the drive to this place bc it's great for my regular nail maintenance. The lady who owns it has been around for a long time and did an excellent job on my regular mani and broken nail fix. She was also quick and super sweet! The other day I went and the spa pedi and polish change I got from another nail tech was pretty good, but not quite as good as the first appointment. The price is right though so that certainly helps! If I had an important event to go to, I might choose to go somewhere else if I couldn't get the tech I wanted, but I definitely support this business and I'm so grateful it's around the corner! read more

It's near impossible to find a nail salon that charges $31 for a regular mani/pedi. (Most salons have the audacity to charge $45+ for a regular mani/pedi combo and $75 for acrylics. This place used to be my expensive go to because the prices were reasonable and the service provided was really good. However in the last 5/6 months it has really fallen off. The pedicures hasn't always been the best but it was doable considering the price point. The last 5 gel sets I've gotten they've all lifted in a matter of days. I've had to go back several times to correct but still no good. I'm not sure if they are buying from a cheaper distributor but the product isn't great and at least the regular polish on my pedicures used to last but now that chips in a few days as well. I noticed the color changing under my polish ( clear/nude) and sure enough when I took off the polish my nails are lifting . I got them done only 2 days ago!!!! The service was absolutely terrible. After I paid, the lady gave me my change of three dollars, but put it on the table . when I had always planned to give each service at least a five dollar tip. When I gave them the tip anyway the lady tried to act like she was so surprised that I could even afford it. I called two days later explain my position, and they begged me to call me back in two minutes because they knew the service was absolutely horrific and disrespectful. I enjoyed my pedicure at this nail salon.... It's a no frills kind place but I'm totally okay with that. The ladies are mostly older and are all very kind. They were filled with clients on the afternoon I went, and judging by their conversations, everyone there seemed like a regular customer. Let me start by saying I've been to MANY nail salons in North Hollywood/panorama city area. I don't know why I stray from this salon at times (usually if I'm in a hurry and they're all booked up), but I always regret it. The pricing here is GREAT $26 for gel manicure, and there are no hidden fees or surprises at the end of the manicure. I've been to a few (studio nails in panorama city) that over charge like a bi*ch. One time I actually broke a nail the day after getting my manicure (as they glued a tip incorrectly and was sticking out instead of onto my nail) and the lady tried to charge me $5 for fixing ONE nail. At TK they have fixed my nail for no extra charge if it was within a few days of my manicure. THAT is service. The women here are constantly working, and they do not skimp on the details of your manicure. And a huge plus for me is they do it under an hour and use gloves when using UV lights. I've sat at a few salons for a gel manicure and it takes 1.5-almost 2 hours!! I'm like what's going on here?!? Ain't nobody got time for that. Save yourself the time and research! This is my permanent nail salon and the women here are so sweet! Make sure to leave a nice tip! They deserve it!! read more

My gel always lasts for three weeks and I never have any issues with lifting or chipping. If you are looking for a two hour long spa experience, this is not the place. I am always in and out of there in under an hour for a gel mani and regular pedi. I appreciate that they respect your time, and really keep to their appointment times very strictly. I never have to wait when I get there and if I'm 3 minutes late, they call me to make sure I'm on my way, as they don't want me to make the next person have to wait.
