I came here for the first time today. I never tried burmese food before, but the young man at register was super helpful and gave me multiple samples to try. I ended up getting a double plate with pinapple fried rice, burmese noodles, seasame chicken, eggplant tofu and their milk tea. The portions are big and the food is flavorful. The customer service is really good and their manager was so kind to even stop by my table to give me one of their free bags that was left over from the grand opening. I usually only write negative reviews but I just had to throw my 2 cents in cuz everything was positive from start to finish. I saw this place on IG reels and was super excited to try it as Burmese food isn't readily accessible compared to other cuisines and I've never tried it before; the food here was an amazing intro to that interest. The portion sizes are really generous and everything I tried (pineapple fried rice, Burmese noodles, chicken kebat, Burmese fried chicken, and mango chicken) were all solid. The Burmese milk tea was also super delicious and pretty good deal for the size they give you. It came out to $20 for the drink and triple build your own bowl. Since I was unfamiliar with the dishes they had to offer, I asked if I could sample them and they were so eager to let me try. The chili beef was super tender and flavorful and they gave me quite literally the biggest serving I've ever been given at a restaurant. Each of the workers were super kind and looked genuinely happy to be working there and serving me (I wish they had a tip option for the kiosk cuz I def would've given extra). They even went up and brought up my food and drink with a smile each time! Claudia especially was super nice and helpful; opening the door for me, greeting me, helping me with the samples, and wishing me farewell on my way out (she deserves a raise from management from going above and beyond)! The space itself is super clean and newly renovated and modern including the bathroom which was very tidy. 10/10 experience, def recommend this place and will be coming back with friends! read more

I've been meaning to write a review for this new spot in the Almaden Plaza and near Blossom Hill Rd. Fun fact: the owners own Burma Bay Cafe in Fremont in case you have been there. A few weeks ago, I attended their grand opening celebration and had the chance to try several of their delicious dishes. I also received a cute tote bag and a rose, which was a nice touch. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Their tea leaf salad is massive, and they don't skimp on the tea leaf dressing. I'm especially a fan of the beef with string beans and the walnut shrimp. I've already gone back a few times and still have more menu items I want to try. One thing I noticed during the grand opening was that there were no signs labeling the food items. I suggested to a few staff members that signs would be helpful so they wouldn't have to keep repeating the same information to guests. When I returned on my second visit, I noticed signs had been added, so it seems my suggestion may have been passed along. Ordered dinner via DoorDash on a Saturday evening. A friend highly recommended this restaurant, so I was eager to try it. I ordered the Burmese Chicken Salad and was not disappointed. The chicken had a nice flavor and there was a ton of it! The veggies were fresh and plentiful. Burmese cuisine is my favorite ethnic cuisine and in fact, it was Burmese cuisine that got me started on Yelp. For my 1000th review, I want to say, I love TleafGreen and cannot wait to keep coming back for more and more. I first saw the coming soon sign many weeks ago and have been waiting eagerly for it. Once I found out it opened, I drove straight there and my jaw dropped when I walked in. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the colors just pop and feel comfortable in there. Trust me, eat inside and you'll feel it too. TleafGreen is trying to be like the Panda Express of Burmese cuisine but better, fresher and more flavor. I went all out on my 1st visit and ordered pineapple fried rice with Burmese shrimp, mango chicken, platha, noodle salad and Burmese milk tea. Everything had so much flavor and definitely is a good break from eating normal salads and sandwiches during the week. The dressing for the noodle salad is quite spicy so, I'll ask for a non-spicy dressing next time. It reminds me of a simpler rainbow salad which is a signature salad at several Bay Area Burmese restaurants. In fact, the owners also own Burma Bay Cafe in Fremont and Burma Burma in Dublin. They also plan to open another TleafGreen location in Mountain View later on. When it comes to Burmese cuisine, they have it locked down already. The Burmese shrimp and mango chicken gave me that same feeling when I first tried Burmese food over 20 years ago. It was heavenly and because of Burmese cuisine, I joined Yelp just to write reviews about Burmese food and my favorite spots. The ordering process is quite easy, as you can order on the kiosk tablets or online and I think you can order by pointing as well. The Burmese milk tea is good but it is strong. The pricing is so good and I cannot wait to take many people here to try it out. I can already feel that they will become a hot place and possibly go national one day. Great food!! My favorite was the tea salad....of course. Everything was fresh and had the little crunchy country bits inside that make it unique from other salads. The combination plate was good as well. I especially liked the Mint and jalapeño chicken. It was a different dish that I never had. The kabocha/tofu dish. Was OK. I felt it lacked seasoning and was fairly bland. Inside was very clean and brightly lit. It had a good overall vibe. I would definitely come here again. The prices are very reasonable. read more

I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars since they are still in their soft-opening phase and working out all the details. We were pleasantly surprised to see a new Burmese restaurant in this complex, and it looked very inviting from the outside. When you walk in, you place your order at a kiosk. There are signs in front explaining the menu, that they have salads and also combinations. I got the three-item combination so I could try several things. They had at least half a dozen different chicken entrees, hard to choose, but I settled on mango chicken, which was good. I also got the Burmese shrimp, which was delicious. There is an upcharge for shrimp or beef dishes. My final dish choice was the vegetarian tofu and eggplant. It was nice to see that they have three different vegetarian options. They have four different side choices, and I got half pineapple rice and half noodles. This is kind of like the Panda Express model. I was a bit dismayed that the noodles weren't even warm. They did have chunks of veggies. I think they could work more on ensuring that everything on the plate is at the same temperature. It would be nice if the combinations had a veggie or salad option, so you could go a little lower carb. I liked the pineapple rice, though it also wasn't as warm as the entrees, but wasn't lukewarm the way the noodles were. I would definitely come back here again and try different things. Today is TleafGreen's soft opening. I have been looking forward to coming here as they were getting ready to open their business. They are located in the Almaden Plaza next to Boudin SF. The spot they are in used to be Blaze Pizza. Their website states that they offer Burmese-inspired bowls made with fresh produce and house-made dressings--ready for dine-in, pickup, delivery, and catering. I decided to have lunch here today. Upon entering the restaurant I was warmly greeted. Since it's there first day, they were running a bit late. An employee told me they would be ready at 11:30am. She let me take pictures of their menu and of the inside. It's really lovely and bright inside. I loved what they did with the inside remodeling. When I returned at 11:30am, I was helped by an employee named Song. She was polite and excited for their soft opening. She explained how to order from the kiosks at the front and then you go to the counter and watch them build it. You can also customize you order at that point. I ordered the Burmese chicken salad for dine in and I ordered the golden mango salad to take home. Also ordered a build your on single plate. I chose Burmese noodles, pineapple fried rice and Burmese shrimp and two samosas. The Burmese chicken salad was so flavorful with their house made dressing. The combination of all the ingredients were so delicious. The dressing has a little quick of heat, which I loved. The Burmese shrimp was my favorite. The sauce on the shrimp is savory and goes perfectly with the Burmese noodles. The pineapple fried rice was also very good. Everything was so fresh. The samosas were also delicious. Perfectly crispy and the filling was so good. I also liked the dipping sauce it came with. The portion sizes are good. They are generous with their proteins. All the ingredients were fresh. They freshly chop all of their produce and cook the other items freshly daily. They also offer Halal, gluten free and vegan bowls/salads and dishes. I spoke with the manager, Brad. He is really friendly. I wish him and the owners all the success with their restaurant. It's so nice to have this new restaurant in Almaden plaza. My partner and I came in for their grand opening, where we were greeted by a gorgeous restaurant, wonderful service, and delicious food. Even with such a large turn out, their staff had huge smiles on their faces and did a fantastic job taking care of everyone. The real star is how delicious everything was AND for such great prices! I wanted to love this more than I did. Burmese food is a special thing and I'm glad they opened to share these flavors with our community. The pineapple fried rice - felt lacking, missing robust flavors. It was good but did not stand out Dried basil chili beef - the portion was more onions than beef, but was a decent portion and had robust flavors! The peppery flavors stood out and great to mix the sauce with the other sides The honey walnut shrimp was acceptable - nothing too exciting but hits the craving The tea leaf salad was quite special! This is what we came for and they loaded the salad with a bunch of crunchy bits. The fermented tea leaves was plentiful as well. The only challenge was getting a good stir to get those tea leaves all over the salad greens. The Burmese milk tea was oddly warm even with a full cup of ice. My wife and I decided to give it a try, even though the manager, John, mentioned they were still getting everything in place ahead of their grand opening on Saturday. Our first impression was very positive--the space is bright, inviting, and clean, with a tasteful color palette and an open kitchen that adds to the experience. We were greeted by Song, who checked in on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was going well. Service overall was excellent. Although they offer self-service kiosks, we chose to order at the counter. We tried the jalapeño chicken, kabocha curry with brown rice, and their signature Teslas salad. All three dishes were flavorful and came in generous portions. This neighborhood has been in need of good dining options that don't break the bank, and this place seems like a great addition. It was nice to try out a new Burmese eatery in the area! I first noticed the space, very clean with lots of seating inside. I ordered 2 double plates and a noodle salad. Their model kind of reminds me of Panda Express in which you can pick a certain amount of entrees. The portions weren't too bad, just wished they gave a bit more of the mango chicken and honey walnut shrimp (especially since it costs extra). A nice restaurant that does fresh food pretty fast. A cut above your usual salad/bowl place, and they actually take ideas and feedback First, the environment is nice. It's a typical fast casual design, but is spacious, clean, and well lit. I get the impression this is a place where people do a lot of pickup or delivery, but it's a pleasant place to dine. As for food? Pretty good. So far I've tried: TEA LEAF SALAD: Had to try it and pretty good! The ingredients were extremely fresh, the portions generous, and the dressing pretty good. There are many salad options, so I'll try others. You can add proteins to salads, but I'd like it if they had a tofu option along with the meat. PLATES: If Salads aren't your thing, you can get one of their Dishes, where you get to pick your mix. So far I've tried: * Yellow Curry: A solid yellow curry, lots of different veggies. Good, but also visually appealing (this place knows how to make food that looks good) * Eggplant and Tofu Curry: My favorite next to the Tea Leaf Salad. Not just good, but colorful as well, with the purple eggplants and the sauteed tofu. SAMOSAS: They've got solid samosas. Not remarkable, but if you want a samosa, there you go. PALATA: This thick bread in a sweet coating is a great appetizer or light dessert. The food is both fast and fresh - but the staff goes out of the way to be fresh. If something takes a few more minutes to make fresh, they do it. Would I recommend it? Definitely. Fast, nice place, good food, LOTS of options - if you don't know what you want, you can probably find something. It's also in a larger complex, so you can dash in here while running errands, or if it's a more casual evening, you've got places to get dessert. I had a really frustrating experience with Tea Leaf Green. Before placing my DoorDash order, I called to ask a simple question about the Burmese milk tea, specifically what's in it and whether it's served hot or cold. The staff member told me it was cold, which is fine, but then said it's made with "Thai tea and milk tea," which doesn't make any sense. Burmese milk tea is typically made from a single type of tea leaf, not a mix like that. I also asked about hot sauce, and she told me they were making fresh hot sauce and that it was a chili paste. Based on that, I decided to go ahead with my order. Later, after waiting a long time, I called back to check the ETA, and a manager answered. She told me that everything the previous staff member said was incorrect. There was no fresh hot sauce, and the Burmese milk tea is actually made with black tea, evaporated milk, and condensed milk. Completely different from what I was told earlier. I understand they're a new restaurant and training staff, but giving out completely wrong information is not okay. It would have been better to just ask someone who knew the correct answers instead of guessing and misleading customers. To make things worse, my order had already been sitting out for about 10 minutes by the time I called, and overall this has been one of the slowest DoorDash experiences I've had. This whole situation was off-putting and left a bad impression. I can't speak for the in-person experience, but based on this, I wouldn't rush to order from here again. read more

I Finally had time to stop by and try it out after receiving many recommendations from family & friends who have tried it out and may I say I wasn't disappointed at all!! I usually don't like salad dressings but decided to be open in trying the golden mango salad and I added chicken, I would definitely be ordering again. To start it was absolutely incredible, bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The pickled mango paired beautifully with the crisp cucumber, red onion, and fresh cilantro, while the fried garlic and onion added amazing textures. To top off the chicken adding a bit a protein with a perfectly served portion as well that surprisingly filled me up! The yellow bean powder gave it a savory, nutty flavor that made the whole dish unforgettable and tied everything together. Every bite had layers of flavor and texture. A very clean, helpful, and friendly environment. I went for their grand opening and my experience was amazing. Despite being very busy they took the time to answer my questions and give me their recommendations which was very helpful since they had so many good looking options. I did have to wait a minute for my order but I didn't mind, they were busy and they're a brand new business so I was happy to wait. The staff was very apologetic for making me wait and gave me a couple of free sample dishes with my order as an apology (which wasn't necessary but I enjoyed it nonetheless!). Today I got the chance to stop by at lunch time and was pleasantly surprised with how modern and aesthetically pleasing the seating area looks. I opted to order from the electronic menu. They have all the staples and some more . I had hard time deciding between the refreshing salads and their plate entrees. Since I was feeling hungry I decided to order their 2 entree plate. I choose a combination of their pineapple fried rice and Burmese noodles for the base. For my main, I choose Jalapeño chicken and mango chicken. The food was ready in less than 10 mins and every thing tasted fresh , delicious and like homemade. The portion sizes are generous and very satisfying. For a fast food price you get a very high quality meal and I definitely am going to be a repeated customer. Bonus point they serve Halal meat. I have been on a low FODMAP diet and am veggie forward and was glad that there were flavorful food options that met my dietary restrictions and the enjoyment of others as it is hard to have to limit onions, mushrooms, garlic, soy (although you can have 1 cup firm tofu), dairy, wheat, honey, agave, beans, certain nuts, fructose and more while being veg forward. I was able to order the gluten free and vegan Tea Leaf salad without green cabbage (but I don't think it is savoy cabbage so you can have 1 serving) and without fried garlic in the nut mix and the tea leaf dressing which has garlic on the side so I just used a spoonful, which is a slight cheat, but I could have ordered the ginger dressing if I wanted to go 100% garlic free. The lady was so nice to customize for me during their super busy grand opening. There are lots of options with 8 salads and 1 noodle and 7 chicken, 3 beef, 3 vegetarian, 2 shrimp. They also have gluten free garlic free pineapple rice which has peas in low FODMAP portion, brown rice, and jasmine rice. All the vegetarian entrees have garlic, but the super carrot broccoli and can be made without garlic and the green cabbage is low FODMAP at a 1 serving size. Not sure if the other two can, but I tried them both anyway along with the high FODMAP honey walnut shrimp. Service was excellent. The staff asked how our food was and the owner gave me his business card for the sit down Burma Cafe in Fremont where everything could be cooked to order, so I don't have to cheat on my diet and I could request the catering menu for my singles group. My friend mentioned the food tasted healthier and better quality than Panda Express and also reasonably priced. They have sustainable compostable wood flatware and food containers. The grand opening giveway was pretty generous and you get another $10 off if you download the app so I will definitely be back. hopefully when my diet is less restrictive. My friend noticed that the meat (chicken and beef) were halal as he is a practicing Muslim and my other friends also got sesame, Burmese and mango chicken and ordered another two plates to take home. read more
