Overall - a very authentic restaurant, but everything was personally too salty and spicy for my flavor palette... BUT!!! Major shoutout to them for having my favorite Lao dish on the menu: NAM KHAO! It was crazy spicy, but so delicious. Portions were very small for the price, but the ambiance was nice compared to many othet spots near DTSJ. I would be willing to give this place another chance!

Accidentally went to this place instead of the other new Thai restaurant in DTSJ but it ended up being pretty good. We were seated really fast because the restaurant was empty since there was a game going on. The place was really cozy and a bit too hot so I had to sit near the back patio. * Green Curry Omelette - 5/5 stars. The flavor was perfect and the curry was creamy unlike some other Thai restaurants. The egg omelette was runny (which is to my liking) & the added crispy pork was very tender. Only wish they used Thai eggplants! * Pad Thai - 3.5/5 stars. I figured I would try pad thai at every Thai restaurant to see which one would be amazing. This one, however, wasn't too bad but also wasn't too good. Noodles were firm but were way too sweet. * Roti - 5/5 stars. I was actually surprised I liked this appetizer. Usually, I don't care much for roti, but this one was fresh and good. It reminded me of mochi because of how chewy it was. The sauce it was served with was not memorable and flavorful enough for me, so I dipped it in the green curry. * Service - 3/5 stars. The server was a bit awkward, but the food came out fast. Overall: 4/5 stars. There's been so many good Thai restaurants popping up in the South Bay, but Samuthr's roti stood out to me.

Such a cute restaurant in downtown San Jose. There isn't any designated parking but there is a SJ Park Garage down the street that does 90min free parking. The restaurant is fairly small but they have a couple larger tables. I wouldn't recommend do come with a group larger than 6. As for food we got: -Thai tea: nothing special, it is on the sweeter side which is pretty typical for Thai tea -Lao papaya salad: this was on the fisher side of papaya salad that I've had. I wish they had more tomatoes to help add to the freshness -Zap wings: highly recommend! Great batter and well seasoned. I just wish the wings were a little bigger as they were on the small side -Boat noodles/Tom Yum Noodles: both noodles dishes were decent but I wish there was a better soup to noodle ratio. The noodles quickly soaked up the soup so I was mainly eating noodles

I ordered takeout after seeing several TikTok videos that made this place look really promising, so I was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. I ordered the Pad Thai and Ka Pow. Both dishes lacked flavors I typically get from Thai food, and the Pad Thai was noticeably dry. I've tried Ka Pow from many different restaurants, and this version was one of my least favorites. Given the price point, I was hoping for a more flavorful and satisfying meal, I don't think I'll be returning.

    The four condiments

We came down here for a first Friday, art walk, and came across this place. It presents tastefully to the street so we walked in. It's also very nice inside in a simple way. The name of the restaurant means "ocean" in Thai my wife told me. However, they do have vegetarian dishes available. Along with some chicken dishes. Our server told us that the restaurant has only been open about it, but it was about half full on a Friday night. Our server was very well informed about the menu and was able to check and accommodate my wife's substitutions for her vegetarian, yellow curry with tofu. She had mixed vegetables substituted for the potatoes and instead of rice she had rice noodles. I had questions about several dishes on the menu as I have not seen them elsewhere. That in itself scores points with me. Since the emphasis here is on seafood, I went with the crab curry. This is not the same as the usual yellow curry, although it is yellow in color. It consists of rice noodles with crab on top in a bowl of yellow sauce and is accompanied with pickled cabbage that adds a good crunch and bean sprouts. Flavors are quite good! Those who read my reviews of Thai restaurants know that I'm always asking for the "four condiments". They are not always available, but they are available here. In this iteration, there is an orange sauce that is interesting and hear the Thai Bird chilies are joined with sliced garlic.

Samuthr Thai Restaurant is in its soft opening stage, but don't let that stop you from trying them out. I had one of my favorite dishes as takeout - Pad See Ew. They were generous with the amount of chicken and overall the ratios of everything were balanced well. The sauce hit all of the sweet and savory notes I look for. The noodles were very tender and had absorbed all of the yummy flavor. I've seen quite a few restaurants come and go from this spot, hoping this one is here to stay. Can't wait to come back and try more of the dishes they have to offer!

Samuthr Thai quietly soft opened last week in the former Nest Asian Bistro. No website, no socials, no "commmeee withhhh meeee" collabs...yet. While in the area, I found them on Yelp while looking for places with outdoor seating. Saw they had boat noodles and khao par mun nuer...sold! M E N U Northern and Southern Thai Cuisine. Def call ahead if there's something on the menu you're coming for. On the day we visited, they didn't have beef/steak so they didn't have two of the dishes we wanted to order (boat noodles and khao pad mun nuer). F O O D * Wings Zapp w/ lemongrass, galangal, kaffir leaves (6 pc-$15): https://tinyurl.com/rz8n94tu Meaty wings with an incredibly crunchy exterior, coated in a bold, flavorful, and tangy dry seasoning (not spicy). The meat was dry tho, likely from a bit too much time in the flash fry. * Chili Garlic Crispy Pork Belly w/ rice ($19.50): https://tinyurl.com/yec3a7yu Crunchy pork belly (not oily or greasy) sauteed in aromatics reminiscent of Chinese salt and pepper chicken wings. * Yen Ta Fo w/ flat rice noodles, fermented bean curd, fish ball, fish cake, wonton bits ($16.50): https://tinyurl.com/yp7zk6t7 With Chinese [teochow] roots, this hard-to-find Thai noodle soup gets its signature pink hue from fermented red bean curd. The slippery, extra wide rice noodles nicely absorb the savory, tangy broth (similar flavor profile to Korean cold noodles: naengmyeon) and it's topped with an assortment of perfectly cooked shrimp, squid, calamari, fish balls, fish cakes, pork blood, and beautiful snow fungus (great for your skin!). The fried wonton skins provided a nice texture contrast. No legit Thai meal is complete without a condiment caddy. There were two pickled peppers (jalapeno + thai bird chili), chili powder, and an orange-pink savory + spicy, sweet-sour vinegar (my fav). S E R V I C E Polite and prompt. We were the only ones sitting outside and our server was there when we needed him. A M B I A N C E Cozy, renovated Victorian home with different dining areas. Charming patio seating with fairy lights. No umbrellas or shade sails. Overall, if you're looking for different Thai offerings other than the basics, give this new family-owned business a try!

I loves Thai foods and it is my number 1 foods in the world but this restaurant is just okay, nothing special! I came here on Friday night for dinner and it was empty. It is located next to San Jose State University and parking in the street. For a Thai restaurant, pad Thai and the papaya salad are the two main factors that determine if this restaurant is authentic or not. The pad Thai was overly sweet to me, it needs a kick and sour to it which this pad Thai missing those two ingredients. The papaya salad was salty missing a sour and spicy to it. The Pad see ew was okay as the noodle cooked with a smoke flavors. The fried rice with fried chicken was okay. The restaurant feels very cozy inside with couple outdoor dinning. I don't think I will be coming back here as there are many other Thai restaurants in the Bay Area that are better.

Nice looking restaurant , very clean . Service was ok , minimal interaction . Roti and yellow curry appetizer was yummy and so was the thai tea . soups were terrible as well as the pad thai. extremely disappointed , went with this place because of the 4.8 stars - it's no for me .

Hold on to your hats because this new Thai spot is bangin!! Just a few blocks away from the convention center. Super adorable inside with lots of emerald green and gold touches. The Nam Khao Tod salad is so gingery and crunchy, it's the best version of this dish I've ever had. Terrific Thai Service!

Holy crap, was this a great meal. It's a nice evening, and I was in the mood to eat someplace outdoors. I remember when this spot was Nest Asian Bistro, but I hadn't realized it had recently turned over. Rather than stick with the tried-and-true, I experimented on some dishes I've never had before. Nas, my friendly server, guided me through some choices. I started with Yum Nam Khao Tod, a crispy rice dish with green onions, ginger, mint, dried chili, peanuts and pork sausage. It came out with romaine lettuce, leaves, cucumber slices, and a wedge of lime; the idea is to assemble little lettuce wraps. The portion was so generous I could easily have made this my meal, so I had Nas box up half of it. I then moved on to a stewed pork leg with pickled mustard greens, Chinese broccoli, and boiled egg. The stewing liquid had a beautiful caramelized flavor; and the accompanying chili sauce was both fresh and incredibly spicy. I will definitely be back.

Wings Zapp (6), Crab Curry, Larb

Tldr; solid food. Friendly service a but slow. cute spot, but a little tight inside (it is a house), so ymmv depending on your comfort level Came by for a pre-show dinner on the weekend, so pretty busy inside. We ordered the laab (pork), crab curry with noodles, and fried chicken wings. Flavor of the laab was good, but a little messy to eat because of the sauce/lime. Maybe should have ordered rice to go with it. Decent amount of crab on the crab curry. Spiciness was on the milder side for us. Personally really liked the wings, very crispy and liked the tangy spicy flavor.

The menu is laid out by geographic regions, which I thought was a really neat way to showcase the many different cuisines. We started with summer rolls and calamari, both of which were excellent. The summer rolls were fresh and bright, with a delicious peanut sauce that was among the best my sister (a self-described "Peanut Sauce Snob") and I had ever had. The large pieces of calamari were expertly cooked, still very tender even after frying. There was a hint of spice in the calamari dipping sauce that I quite enjoyed. For entrees, we got Pad Thai, Pad See You, and Panang Curry -- all favorites we've had many places (despite the many alluring new-to-me options, I admit we all defaulted to known quantities) -- and we were impressed across the board. Everything was flavorful, had just the right amount of spice, and came out steaming hot. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant, which felt lively and friendly. It was very busy, with a line out the door by the time we left, so reservations are a good idea!

A generous portion of noodles and veggies, but not as much meat (which is fine by me). As a spicy loving girl, the spiciest level option was good as it was present throughout the entire dish, meaning it was mixed in well! I appreciated this immensely. Also got a mango sticky rice to feed my sweet tooth, and it was good too! Served with blue rice which made it pretty. The bad: Oh my god. I love Rad Nar normally, but when I ordered it from here through UberEats, I was severely disappointed and couldnt even finish a third of the dish. It was severely sweet. Now, I do love my sugar, but holy crap it tasted like they marinated the meat, veggies, and noodles in sugar and then added more sugar when cooking it. I also got the spicy option so it was really weird to eat something sickenly sweet with a little bit of spice when expecting a spicy, savory dish. Maybe it was a bad night for the chef or they mistook salt for sugar, but wow. I was in shock, and in the bad way lol.
