Looking for a great spot to grab a quick bite of Mexican food in Ypsi? You definitely need to be giving La Torre Taqueria a try. In the Ann Arbor/ Ypsi area, there are a few contenders as far as solid & authentic mexican food, and La Torre comes ready to vie for a spot among the ranks. The prices are very reasonable (especially for 2023 prices), and you can get pretty good value out of the meals as well. A friend and I swung by recently for dinner, and both got tacos. The tacos themselves are solid, but the real winner is the sauces -- both sauces at the table are absolutely fantastic. Providing a great balance of flavor and heat (while remaining distinct to themselves), the sauces are an excellent complement to your meal. In addition to the sauces & the tacos, the burritos are another highlight. Not just big, think massive! Each burrito is easily 2 meals... one asterisk is that they're heavy on the rice, so be prepared to drop a good amount of sauce in there to keep them from feeling super dry. Overall, I think La Torre is worth your foodie exploration - it's a great combo of value and flavor!

Come here for the tacos! They have such a widespread of meats options. They have the normal basic stuff like Asada and Pollo, but I absolutely love how they have other choices like the Lengua, Buche, Surtida. I don't know of a lot of other places around here that have it on their menu & have it taste this good. You know this place is good because my Mexican friend ordered a whole tray of tacos from here for her birthday. Also the Horchata is very refreshing and a great size.

Some of the best tacos I've had in a while! I got the pescado, pastor, and asada tacos. The pastor and pescado were the better of the 3. The staff was kind. Great food and look forward to returning!

Lazy burrito fills with mostly rice. Shame

How you gonna sell me a $10 burrito and not give me any sauce? Burrito had nothing but meat and rice in it. No beans, no crema, no cheese, no avocado, nothing... just some dry rice and fried meat And it wasn't wrapped in foil and came with ZERO sauce. Sorry but this is MIDS!!! I sht you not, I threw this burrito away and drove up the street to MINY'S so I could fulfill my burrito needs. More like La Turdé. IT STINKS

OK, so I'm from the Bay Area and I can't lie. I was closeminded when I reviewed the selections from DoorDash. I was stuck in the hotel room because my eye became red and irritated - not sure if it was because I was up till 11 to work or if it's because I'm not used to the air quality in Ann Arbor but because my vision was impaired, I wasn't able to drive. Hesitant but ordered the following: + lengua quesadilla (get this) + chicken burrito (get this as well) + tres leches cake Because my delivery did not come w/ utensils, I only ate a few bites of the top of the cake. I did not get to enjoy this so I will leave the review as is for that item. Even though I was by myself in that hotel room, I could not bring myself to hold a slice of cake in my hand. The lengua took me by suprised. It was tender and delicious! The burrito was pretty filling and flavorful and I loved both of the salsa; fresh and spicy. I am unsure when will be my next trip out there but I will certainly go back.

I was in line at a grocery store known for selling bottles of wine for just a few bucks, and one of the cashiers was telling a customer about their favorite local taqueria. When I heard them drop the name "La Torre" I was compelled to shout "La Torre!" back and raise my fist in approval! If you know, you know. Sure, the place might not be competitive with the Mexican spots in the Mission District, but for here in Ann Arbor, it's legit. My daughter was thrilled that we found lengua tacos, which are one of her favorites, and aren't available at the taco spots closer to home. We have branched out from tacos, which is hard, because tacos are so good. But the quesadilla and torta are also solid options. I do love a carnitas torta when life gets hard and I need more than a little comfort. The asada quesadilla was also chockablock with chopped beef. Either of those could have been a meal for two! Speaking of large things, the horchata was also super large for just a couple of bucks. It was a little sweeter than I prefer, but a nice compliment to the food. Still, my daughter and I shared the drink, and we couldn't even finish by the end of the second day. And I tried! Next time I may try one of the agua frescas instead. I look forward to the day when I can return to the dining room. Until then, I'm happy to call from the parking lot, and eat in my car looking through the window panes into the once cramped seating area. Now it's just a few tables with some plexiglass set up to serve as a takeout counter. But I'll take what I can get. ¡La Torre!

Definitely the best taqueria in the A2/Ypsi area. The food is authentic and delicious. They have mexican drinks as well. Their weekend specials also change up and are muy delicioso. One couple that walked in was confused as to why they didnt have chips and salsa or enchiladas. Note: this is a legit taqueria, not a TexMex establishment. You will find delicious tacos, homemade salsas, and awesome tortas.

Authentic SW Detroit style tacos. Simple and tasty. No stuck up yelp elites going on. Just simple good food served by hard working humans.

Thankfully my wife speaks Spanish because her English is definitely limited. There were only two woman working when I ate there. Definite mom and pop vibe. The other people looked Mexican as did the customers who came after me definitely a good sign for authentic food. The drink portion sizes were pretty generous for a small size. The food took some time coming out, my wife enjoyed all three of her tacos. My shrimp taco was good and the corn tortilla was good not overly dry. Two salsas come to the table both were very good. The Gordita was solid liked the lettuce and cheese along with the meat. The thicker corn tortilla goes a longer to fill you up than a taco. Overall a good place, did not blow me away , but solid.

When I first walked in, there were two guys standing at the counter for quite a while. I couldn't figure out what they were doing until I saw the employee counting out cash. I also wasn't sure if I should sit to order my food or order at the counter. Eventually the employee handed me a menu so I sat at a table. There were other tables with native people at them so I figured the food must be good. I ordered a combo meal from the menu written in Spanish. It had two tacos, a tamale, and rice and beans. A short time later I was told they didn't have tamales. I was bummed about that so I ordered three tacos with a side of rice and beans. I was surprised at how long the food took to come out. And the portion of rice and beans was tiny, especially for $4. Of the tacos, the beef was a little tough, but the chicken and pork were good. The rice and beans were both tasty. Just not enough. Overall for over $14, I didn't think the food or experience was worth it. Maybe the tamales are the star of the show.

Immediately upon walking in we were greeted SO kindly and genuinely. The restaurant is beautiful- so nicely decorated and so clean. They have an expansive menu with so many options for all types of diets. I'm a vegetarian and they have vegetarian options for nearly all dishes that they offer! To start we were given chips and salsa which were fantastic. The salsa had a little bit of spice to it too which I loved. I got horchata and my husband got passion fruit Agua Fresca and WOW 10/10 without hesitation! Best horchata I've ever had. My husband does not like horchata and couldn't stop drinking mine! We both also loved the passion fruit Agua Fresca, another 10/10. They were so kind and brought us a sample of the cucumber and lime Agua Fresca as well which I'll definitely be getting with my next meal from here because it was SO refreshing and tasty. I got a vegetarian quesadilla and there's not a single thing I would change about it. It was hot and filling and so tasty! It had so much flavor! The guacamole and salsa it was served with were fantastic, too. My husband absolutely loved his steak burrito, too! No modifications he just got it the way it comes and he said he wouldn't change a single thing about his, either. The corn in a cup was absolutely incredible we added a bit of red salsa for a little kick to it and I'm not gonna stop thinking about it til I'm able to have it again. I'm not kidding it's amazing and DEFINITELY a must-have. I couldn't have been happier with our experience!

The service: so slow, not attentive (salsa and waters at zero - no offer to replenish). Friendly, but just not good at basic waiting. The food: very, very Americanized. When I got the huevos con chorizo, it was SOOOO dry and over-cooked. All the other stuff is just boring. The hot salsa burns your mouth, the non-hot is like tomato sauce. An in-between would be lovely. The parking and location: great. The ambiance: music is at the right level not to blast you (blends into the background - yay), and the smell as you enter is bleach + food smell... so at least they clean thoroughly (cool.) The drinks: eh. First, when I asked for a skinny-spicy margarita, the waitress told me I could have one or the other. I said, how about you just make a skinny and put jalapeño in there. Yes. But the skinny was still way too sweet and not particularly tasty. I also asked for salt, and it came with none (it's a top priority - boo.) Then I got the $4 happy hour lime marg... it didn't seem like there was any tequila, and it was SO sweet and almost tasted like the kool-aid when I was a kid. Ick. Finally... told us they don't offer bottles of wine - even though it's right there in black-and-white on the menu. When we did get the bottle, it was room temp (white wine - not even chilled a little.) Massive drink bummer. Overall I just wouldn't need to return here if it weren't for the location.
