A good little Thai Spot in GPP. I think the food is decent, not the best, but pretty good for GPP. I like to see the old hood branching out in different cuisines than diners, and boring standard American fare. I can't say the food is anything spectacular, but it you are craving Thai, it will certainly help satiate your cravings. read more

That one time I found a cockroach in my carry out...... I'm so sad to report this because this was our go-to spot for Thai in the Pointes but this is too disgusting and concerning not to post. Got takeout Sunday night and halfway thru my plate (vomit) noticed a full on dead roach in my Von Sen noodles. I've already notified the restaurant - they were very apologetic and gave me a full refund, but since this is also a public safety concern I put a call in to the department of environmental health as they are clearly overdue for an inspection. Bums me out bc I hate to eff with anyone's livelihood but please give it a good 6 months at least if you're considering visiting until they can clean up their act........ read more

Ah, the Village in Grosse Pointe. Home of quaint shops, the affluent walking pure-bred dogs in relaxed comfort and... Thai food? As a former GP resident who needed to eat between a rehearsal and a gig in the area, I was just hoping for an OK sandwich shop when I stumbled upon this place. My meal started with a fragrant, comforting soup with a coconut base. The kow pad fried rice was not greasy; its veggies and sauce combined to give a pleasant, outdoor grill flavor. The veggie pad pak sauce was refreshingly thin; at mild strength, it subtly illuminated (rather than obscured) the perfectly crisp veggies with a light, spicy tang. The spring roll was steamy and thready, accompanied by a fruity plum sauce. Though not as splendid as the redoubtable Thai Taste in Troy, TN Thai Bistro is way above average Thai fare. Just moved to the area from Detroit where I used to order the drunken noodles from Bangkok Crossing down on woodward. I loved the dish from there so I figured I'd give the drunken noodles from here a try. They were actually way better! They tasted less salty yet still filled with flavor. Also can I say how satisfied I was with the service?! Our food came out in literally under 10 minutes of ordering and our waitress kept my glass filled with water. I love the location. The large windows give the place a great downtown feel as you can watch the traffic drive by. A+!! read more

Literally never had a problem here. Food is good and I've been coming here since I was about 13-14 years old. I am now 21 and whenever I'm in town I try to grab a bite here. Whenever I crave Thai food this is the first place that comes to mind. They have hands down the BEST Thai food. All their ingredients are fresh and their portion sizes are huge. You definitely get your money's worth. And omg the service! Wow what a great staff. Everyone is always so nice and polite! It's a very enjoyable experience coming here that is why I continue to come back :) Oh and my favorite thing to get here are the drunken noodles with vegetables. Soooooo freaking good! They add mushrooms which I love and I always substitute bell peppers for pineapple. First time there. Server was extremely nice, and environment was quiet--they placed us in the back/adjacent area, since we requested a booth. Food: ordered chicken pad Thai. Chicken tastes rough and low quality, unfortunately, but the kicker was their water. I don't know if I'm just really accustomed to my Zero Water pitcher at home--although, as a bachelor, who's not the handiest in the kitchen at this time, I eat out pretty often. What really surprised me was just how strongly/poorly the water was *and I've never commented on this in a restaurant review. The water had such a chlorinated taste, I felt like I was drinking from a public swimming pool. Hope someone sees this and can make some adjustments... was a really lovely place otherwise in a great location. But food and water quality count for me. read more

Perfectly fine, Americanized Thai. It's a cute locale and the food and service are nice enough. We had the drunken noodles with beef, Pad Thai with scallops and squid for an extra charge and no problems accommodating a substitution, saba (mackerel) sashimi, eel sushi and a fresh roll. All were lovely. The portions were huge. The hot sake was welcome and delicious on a cold rainy day. The service was perfunctory but pleasant and attentive. I placed an order for $73 today. It was carry out due to coronavirus. One of the dishes was basil fried rice, with no peppers and no green onions. The dish came with green onions even though the receipt red no green onions. We called to ask for a credit for the one dish they screwed up, and she wanted us to bring it back. My first few orders from here were decent. The reason for my review today is what happened the last time we attempted to order. The young man that answered the phone was incredibly rude. We were on hold for about 15 minutes, no big deal, it's take out only so we were being patient and understanding. We were put on hold a few times, again, we get it, it's take out only and all orders are coming in via the phone. When he comes back on the line we attempt to verify that certain items on their menu can be made vegan (both online and the paper carryout menu states that they can but we wanted to verify), he huffs and puffs and acts incredibly annoyed about having to ask the chefs if these dishes can be made vegan. We explain we've ordered from them before and were assured by both the chef and the female receptionist we spoke to, as well as it being stated on their menus that the dishes can be made vegan. This receptionist comes back on the phone and tells us that no, they cannot be made vegan. Now, this is where we get confused. They are stating they can make these specific dishes vegan on their website, carryout menu as well as the chefs and previous receptionists assuring us that the dishes are vegan or they are serving non vegan dishes and claiming they are vegan. Either way, this is incredibly problematic. There is some kind of serious communication breakdown between the chefs, receptions, whomever is making the menu, etc.. The kicker was that when we asked him if he's kindly please check again with the chef because we've ordered the same dishes several times and were assured they were vegan he told us to "frigging relax!" then places us on hold. Really?!?! That's how the receptionist responds to a customer calling in to place an order and asks a question about the food. Sadly, we will never order from here again. Not only due to the rude service we received but the fact that we cannot even be sure what we're being served. We've since found a great thai place in Royal Oak. It's a 25 minute drive verses a 5 minute drive but it's worth it. The customer service, knowledge of different diets, their menu and food quality is superior. I haven't been to this place in about a year until today and couldn't remember how it was. True to my nature I ordered sushi. The service was great and the food was reasonably priced (especially for it to be in Grosse Point) and awesome. My hand roll was huge filled with a TON of tuna. My nigiri was a nice size too I was actually shocked. The Shrimp California was also very good. I tend to stick to the raw sushi but wanted to try something I never had. I went here yesterday to order drunken noodles and crab Rangoon. These noodles was so salty my family couldn't eat them. I called today explaining that I still have the meal and that it was extremely salty and I couldn't eat it. They gave me the run around and basically said there is nothing they can do!!!!! Very clean, very nice service. Hot Jasmine tea is delicious, soup that came with our meal was flavorful. I got spring roll appetizer and shrimp udon noodles for my entree was spiced perfectly and plenty of large shrimp. Very reasonably priced and tasty. We'll definitely come back. read more

When I lived in Grosse pointe, this is where I would go when I needed a quick sushi fix. the food and service has always been consistent in my experiences, and the owner always makes a point to ask how the meal and service was. Sit at the sushi bar on your visit, the chefs are friendly and may even offer you delicious sushi experiments. For hot menu items, the beef massaman curry is amazing, and generous in size. You can customize your spice level and I do recommend the medium level to mild. The potatoes are flashed fried and added so they still have that delicious crisp exterior in the sauce, and soft fluffy inside. The meat is tender and delicious! I also order on occasion the crispy duck, which is pretty well prepared, in case you have to hit that duck craving mid week but can't drive miles out of detroit to a decent oriental market. read more

We love Thai food and feel like we're pretty good at telling the good Thai from the bad. This place is one of the Great ones! We had spring rolls & the ahi tuna for an appetizer. For dinner we had the miso soup, ginger salad, pad thai and gang gai. It was All Excellent! The atmosphere of the restaurant is also lovely. It sits on the corner of two busy cross streets in the village of Grosse Pointe. They even have an outside seating area, if you like that. I would say the only down side was that they didn't offer hot saki. We'll be back! read more

Customer service is the worst. Food can be good when they get the orders right. Don't risk the aggravation. Have used this spot regularly for carry-out because of the convenience - will never again. My go to order has been their Curry Fried Rice & was told that they don't have a Curry Fried Rice. I explained that I get it there somewhat regularly & that it has pineapple , cashews and fresh tomatoes. Told -ok - yes. I also ordered their spicy California roll. The fried rice came with only pineapple and was tasteless. My sushi was not right either but despite it falling apart before I even touched it -it was fine. I did call about the fried rice and after many times on hold to wait for the manager on duty - I was told that I would be given a credit. I asked who the owner or store manager was so that I could contact them at another time and was told it is different all the time. I have had several instances of messed up orders and have let them go since no one seems to be interested in the fact that there is a problem. This time I had hoped to take it a step further in hopes that they cared to have feedback to improve the issues involved - despite the fact that this would be my last visit. No luck. I call to claim my "credit" before it no longer exists by ordering sushi to be safe. The insanity continued by not finding my credit, wait for the manager to approve, wait again for the manager to approve the substitution, told they would allow it but that I would need to pay the difference- but my order was less than my credit, but they put me on hold again to calculate the total, this time I was disconnected ( this has happened before). After more than 20 minutes on the telephone with them, I decide to just head there to pick up my order and discuss the payment when I got there. Once someone came to the desk, I gave them my name only to discover that they did not place my order because I "hung up" & they continued to insist that they considered this as I had changed my mind. Once more , after waiting a while - no manager was available to speak to - he was busy. As I was about to leave a woman came up - would not give her name but told me that she was aware that I was looking for my order but it was not placed because I hung up & continue to try to explain why this made sense. Finally she said they would have my order ready for me in 10 minutes. I explained that that was not acceptable & they finally just gave me my cash back. OMG. Glad to be away from that place - forever. I ordered my Sushi from the new place across the street - KOI - excellent choice!! read more

I have eaten here enough times now to say with certainty this is the best Thai food around. I just had the most delicious Drunken Noodles with squid and Tom Yum with chicken I have ever had anywhere. I get something different every time I eat here and have never had a bad meal. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is very enjoyable as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and can almost guarantee if you are a fan of Thai food you will not be disappointed. But beware...they take spicy seriously here! Best Thai Food in Michigan! (But don't get the sushi see below) my favorites as follows: Springs rolls are great with amazing house made sauce for dipping (I could drink it!) I always get the chicken in the following dishes - always moist and good portion Pad Thai: best pad Thai I've ever had, hands down. They really can bring in the spice level - I usually get medium which I think is a true medium. Add pineapple it's delicious Pad Ped: Eggplant mushrooms onion etc in delicious red curry sauce with rice - Amazing! Masamun: yellow coconut curry with thin crinkle round potatoes peas, onions and rice Sizzling Eggplant: comes with chicken & beef, eggplant with a sweet savory spicy brown sauce Pad Prik- not impressed, bland flavor Pass on the sushi - not good - dry crunchy rice, not a fan of the crunchy roll app either- dry Pass on the Pad Curry - bland not spicy to requested and honestly tastes like stale peanut noodles Also the Panang left something to desire , not enough flavor outside of just curry and for some reason falls flat read more

The staff is always sweet and pleasant, very attentive, and on the ball without being overbearing. An owner or manager lady also checks in from time to time with the most contagious smile ever. You can get a glass of wine, the prices are decent, they're kid friendly, and most importantly the food is delicious! LOVE the green curry and they never get my picky order wrong. Portions are huge! I work at a local hospital and this is one of our favorite places to order out! I've never had anything from this place that i didn't like. Crispy rolls and crab rangoon are a couple of my favorite apps. Beyond the basic Pad Thai (which is amazing), I recently tried the Pad Prik, medium, with chicken. We live nearby and eat here regularly. The food is great, we have never been disappointed with a dish. Everything is prepared well and presented nicely. The staff is very friendly, and even when we don't have one of the "regular" servers we know, the newer staff do just as good of a job, so I can tell they spend some time making sure everyone is well trained. The owner usually stops by and greets each guest personally - I hate when managers at chains do that, but it's sweet and endearing when this lady does it. You can tell she genuinely cares and wants to make sure you're happy. The sushi room addition added several more booths which you can't see from the outside or when you walk in, so it's usually no problem getting a booth if you prefer that. They also have an outside seating area. The restaurant is located right in the heart of the Village and there's a municipal lot directly behind it and street parking. read more
