I'd fly 1000+ miles for this succulent juicy garlic crab, sausage, and shrimp.

A hidden gem right off of 275. Any time I am in town or have friends going to Tampa Bay I make sure to send them this way. Seafood is extremely fresh and they even carefully pick out the crabs one by one. (just so happen to witness yesterday) I don't think I've ever had such big meaty crabs that just come out as a whole piece of heaven except at this place. Family owned which is a plus! So go try their garlic saucy shrimp, sausage, crab, and mussel.

Garlic crabs, shrimp and sausages, and gizzards.

I hear great things about this place but it's such a far drive for me that I put it off all the time. Today I was feeling adventurous and went out of my way to try items from their menu. I ordered the garlic blue crabs (their specialty), the garlic shrimp and sausages, and the gizzards. I was blown away! Everything was packed with flavor and spice that I couldn't resist taking bite after bite even though I was stuffed! I would also recommend that you try the gizzards. Usually it's very tough and tastes like leather but TNT makes it very tender and delicious. However, keep in mind that there is an additional fee for the garlic but it is so worth it. On the downside, this restaurant is that it's not really a dine in restaurant but more of a pickup or Togo place. This isn't a problem though once you tasted their food! The owner and staff are very kind and go out of their way to make your experience a great one. I was debating whether to get corn or not and in the end decided against it. When I got home I opened the box to find a nice surprise, corn! I will be back for sure!

Casual! Whole fried snapper! Fried Wahoo! Local fish! Full menu, full bar…read more Hookin' Aint Easy Seafood Company is a cool house converted into a fish market and patio with a food truck and a bar with chairs with backs. There's plenty of umbrellaed tables and picnic tables. They have a full menu of apps, seafood, and burgers. Their whole fried snapper is one of our favorite fish, and Hookin' serves a generous serving, perfectly tender and sweet, in a light crispy layer of coating, on a regular soft bun, with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Their Fried Wahoo is also well-prepared. We got fried, and it was tender and fresh. Both fish came with a heaping serving of hot crispy fries. You could also get either fish blackened, and you could add various veggies as sides. We ordered our food and also picked it up ourselves at the bar. Hookin' can get crowded, especially when they have a live musician, and parking can get pretty tight. It's just off I-275 at 22nd St, in St. Pete Fl east of Gulfport. They keep their social media pretty up-to-date, but we didn't track down a "regular" webpage.

I have never eaten blue crabs from the shell,…read moreand I love whole lobster, so I thought that deconstructing another type of crustacean would be fun. I got off the bus and walked across the street and into the parking lot. It was fairly busy, and I made my way to the patio area, because outside seating only. There was a kind of tiki bar with a line where you go up and get your own alcoholic beverage any time you want. You can eat at the bar or at any of the picnic tables that you pass on the way to a kind of food truck with a window where you order your food and buy bottles of soda and iced tea from a vat full of ice. I loved the vibes right away. I got in line at the "truck". Then it was my turn to order. Well, whaddaya know, they just ran out of blue crabs! And no soft-shell crabs were available as the water they live in is not warm enough yet. But they did have one of my favorite seafood delicacies, stone crab claws, so I ordered those instead, and asked for the mustard sauce instead of melted butter. I also ordered French fries and cole slaw for my sides. And then I ordered one-half dozen raw oysters, because. I was given a little wire stand with a card inserted into the top with my order number on it, to be placed on my table. Then I sauntered over to the bar and ordered an IPA from the busy, bearded and well-tattooed bartender. If you are wearing shades you will be admonished to remove them before paying, and I saw why, as the display on the... pay thingy has excessive polarization. Next I found a good spot in the shade and sipped my beer and checked the place out. Was there music? I think so, but I can't remember! Just all kinds of folks having a good time. Two preschoolers were busily playing in the sand by the main walkway to the food line, and took up most of the path most of the time, but nobody seemed to mind. If you aren't into playing with little trucks in the sand I think there is also corn hole off in one corner. If you don't know what that is, I dare you to look it up. After not too long some plates of food showed up, and I took some pictures and then got busy. First I tried the fries, because they are best when fresh and hot, but the fries were limp and sad. I just let their little ol' hand-cut selves alone. The oysters were served on the half shell on ice, and came with nice hot grated horseradish and cocktail sauce, plenty of lemon wedges, and saltine crackers. They were excellent! Then I turned my attention to the claws, glorious stone crab claws. I noticed that I was given butter instead of mustard sauce. That didn't stop me. But what did slow me down was the lack of a claw-cracker. The claws were pre-cracked a bit, but not in a way that was helpful to get at the meat. And I need leverage to rip the joints apart as my fingers don't work like they used to, so I asked for, and received quickly, a cracker. Some of the claws were on the small side, and the meat in some of the claws was a bit soft-feeling, but it was all pretty tasty. However, they fell short of my previous experiences elsewhere, including when I cooked some at home a few years ago. The cole slaw was very good. The young guy who brought my food and cracker tool was friendly, and quite funny. The woman who took my order was also nice. The bartender was just to busy to be anything but awesome. So all in all, the food was a bit of a letdown. I will try to go back for the crabs, and I saw hush puppies in a photo, that would be better than the fries.

The jalapeño, in particular, provided a pleasant kick that elevated the dish nicely. Tedie and I both ordered the grouper tacos. The restaurant keeps things simple, offering each fish prepared in only three different styles. Tedie chose the "Florida Man" preparation (broiled), while I selected the "Dirté."(fried) The fish appeared to be either red or gag grouper. Interestingly, she preferred mine, while I found myself enjoying hers a bit more. The cucumber spaghetti side was refreshing, though I think it could benefit from a bolder flavor profile. It's something I'll likely recreate at home with a bit more seasoning. The Cajun fries were well-executed and made for a satisfying accompaniment. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try and would recommend it to others. In terms of value for the money, I'd rate it a solid 7 out of 10.

Fun seafood apps and an intentional mains menu make this a great spot for a light dinner or apps and drinks! I had the daily catch, which was amberjack, citrus rub, with slaw and taters. It was a lovely meal with flaky fish, tangy slaw, and decadent potatoes! Good value for the cost! Had the Gone Fishing to drink, which came served in a themed bobber glass. Rum-forward without being too boozy, balanced with sweetness and nuance from the tea. Surprisingly elevated for a beach bar vibe! Would absolutely recommend! The prices were awesome: $1 oysters, $5 hush puppies, $5 tacos, $10 cocktails. Everyday from 4-6pm. At that price point you really can't go wrong! For us the oysters were the star of the show... were they the best looking oysters I've ever had? No. Were they amazing for a dollar each? Absolutely yes! The hush puppies were really good as well... not dry at all, perfectly done, and the dipping sauce alongside them was spot on. The tacos were a solid addition to the spread: good flavors, nothing that blew us away, but a nice way to round things out. The shrimp taco was the winner between the two, we'd probably skip the chicken next time. The chorizo creamed corn was a pleasant surprise as well, and I'm not even a big corn person! The outdoor patio has a really cute vibe too... we were there on a cloudy day and it was still charming. Would love to come back on a sunny afternoon and make a proper happy hour afternoon of it. The oysters alone are enough to bring us back. Trophy Fish has officially earned a spot in the regular rotation.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they got AC and immediately asked my family to visit. We have gone several times since then and we LOVE it. We do make reservations, but there have been open tables for walk-ins each time we have gone. Service is top-notch. We have had the same server each time and he banters well with my family- which makes the experience even better. Now, for the food. I recommend going for happy hour, but we do not always eat that early. Happy hour has great deals on appetizers and drinks. I love their grouper cheek sliders and fish dip. The hot sauce on the table is a datil pepper sauce and so very good. My favorite entrees are the blackened grouper sandwich and the baja-style fish tacos. I really cant wait to try the burger, but I love the other items so much I have a hard time not ordering those each time I go. My husband enjoys oysters and does not trust them at many restaurants. He is willing to pay more for quality, fresh oysters. Cheeky's is the place to go for oysters. He ordered the "best" variety for raw and fell in love with them. He also really likes the lightly breaded and fried oysters. They are not greasy and perfectly cooked every time. Drinks are fantastic. I got a special on Kentucky Derby day, a mint julep and it was so tasty. I usually enjoy their mixed drinks and my husband mixes it up between beer and mixed drinks. Recommend all of them. Intrigued by the Salt & Vinegar martini, but have not tried it yet. The restaurant is usually loud, casual, and lively. I feel completely comfortable bringing my grandkids and not worrying about how loud they are. We love the 'old florida' feel and recommend trying this place. We are already regulars.
