Great little Greek inspired restaurant right on Main Street McHenry. Quaint inside seating with a bar and high top tables with TV's going to watch sports/Olympics. True gem is the outdoor seating in a small alley next door. Gentle breezes flow though and the ambience is casual and comfortable. I ate the Gyro platter and my guests had the Souvlaki sandwich. Sandwiches were very good and my guests loved them. The Gyro meat was season well and cooked perfectly. Pita, onions and tomatoes were all fresh and flavorful. Thin cut fries were cooked as they should be. Tried the Feta Philo Meti and Loucanico appetizers. Feta was wonderful and a great twist on fried mozzarella. The Loucanico (sausage with pita) was a bit over cooked but that could have been a one off with the grill being too hot and it getting away from the staff. Interesting flavor profile as I sensed what I thought might be carroway seed in the sausage but not sure. I'll be back to try the kabobs and the Souvlaki for myself. Baklava desert and Baklava Cheesecake desert was well received by the table. Well done. Definitely worth a try. Great staff and very attentive.

Was going in to try the fair prices out. Have found the best gyro ive ever had. With a nice setting outside seating. Great service from the window to outside with a nice laid back inside!!

The place is clean, bright and cozy without being cramped. The service is friendly and helpful. The menu is not too big nor too small....just right. We ordered the spinach pie - flakey crust, delicious spinach & feta filling with herbs. Most definitely homemade fresh, not a frozen food service product. Gyro dinner with spinach rice and Greek potatoes - gyro meat was tender and not overly spiced/flavored like, once again, a nasty food service product. Potatoes were cooked perfectly. Soft and seasoned spot-on, obviously made fresh and not left dying under a heat lamp. The spinach rice was tasty but a bit salty. I can assume that since everything is fresh made this might just be a one-off. I am more than willing to try this dish again to test out this hypothesis. I definitely recommend. Please support this venue to assure that this option for an alternative to bar food in downtown Sycamore lasts for a long time to come

The chicken was super tasty and I loved the block of feta. Although, for 15.00, I could get double the salad and chicken and get pita bread at another local Greek restaurant. I would suggest adding more to the salad for the price of 16.50. I will try something different next time but I think my husband will stick with the Gyro dinner and we will just ask for more sauce and pita bread.

There is even a bar are with counter seating and three - five tables (two standard height and three counter height. There is a monstrous screen behind the bar for sports, but they mostly show videos of Greece, but they are mesmerizing videos of a beautiful country. It's a cleaner version of Dengeo's. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The portions are huge so you're definitely going to bring something home. Nostimo is now in our rotation of places to go in a pinch and they do have an outdoor seating area, too.

Since there was a total of 11 and the seating is first come first serve, we decided to call to see if they had reservations. They did take our name and reserved a table. When we arrived we noticed a table was reserved and we were informed that it was our table. We sat and looked over the menus. When we were ready my 2 boys and I went up to place our order. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.

I highly recommend the Greek potatoes as a side. They're so lemon-y and buttery, and come as a large portion. I also really love the chicken kebab sandwich and I'm always so surprised how quickly they put it all together. The fresh pita bread tears apart in beautiful layers, the vegetables are rich with flavor, and the chicken is so juicy and well seasoned. I literally can't help but finish my entire plate when I order from here. The kebab sandwich also comes with a generous service of Tzatziki which balances out all of the rich grilled flavors. Nikkos offers a wide variety of food, not just Greek. Burgers, dogs, Italian beef, etc. I know from experience both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places generally offer very good burgers, but I haven't personally tried Nikkos'. I must try them soon. What I *have* tried are Italian beef, gyro, and chicken, both in plate and sandwich forms. Gyro and chicken dishes did not disappoint. Their chicken kebab plate is my daughter's new go-to Greek dish, and I can personally attest to their gyro and tzatziki sauce. Super legit. Also, French fries are good. I've tried their Italian beef now twice, but both times I thought they didn't do a very good job getting rid of beef taint. Gravy was okay; nothing special. I'd personally put them right at the same level as Portillo's. It's got a very old-school diner feel to the place. Menus are displayed with pictures over the counter, making it super easy to read and order. As far as friendliness of the cashier goes, I'd rate them 3 of 5. I was greeted and tended by a very nice lady once, but it was two grumpy dudes the other time who were all business and no play. Nothing wrong with their work ethics or order accuracy or anything. They were just unpleasant. Just so I'm clear, these encounters don't usually deter my star ratings. More so an FYI. All in all, I'm happy with my Greek plates at Nikkos. I'll probably go back to try rest of the other menu items like shish kebab or even a burger.

When they put the sign up I was so intrigued as to what B&B would be. Much to my delight it was Greek American style! I grew up eating along this specific fault line of American favorites and Greek classics, so I was psyched to see something like that around here. As soon as I saw they were open I had to stop in. They nailed it here. The clean diner concept was friendly and comfortable. The family run business was putting out, for my money, the best gyros anywhere around! Spinach Pie, another classic and another must have. I got one almost every visit. They did a great job with American stuff, and even a few Mexican style dishes too! I'd get the taco meal a lot actually, it was a great hearty meal. The Greek chicken plates and the lemon chicken soup were some of the best here, these guys knew their way around a chicken! There's plenty more I could say, it's been about 3 years after all... this is a big loss on the community. Nothing hits quite like this spot, it had become a go-to for me. Well, now I can't go to B&B anymore. The area is less inviting without them, it's left a massive hole here that likely won't be filled. Trying to buck up... I'm wishing the family all the best moving forward! They are still running their Facebook page for the business, with a post saying they will have more information soon. Whatever they plan, I hope to be eating their food somewhere not to far from here in the near future. Goodbye for now, hopefully not sayonara. And thanks for the good times!
