Wow wow wow is this place delicious. What more is there to say besides everything we ordered was perfect. The chicken wings are big with amazing breading and the meat was fantastic. We really liked that the soy and garlic had a lot of sauce and the cheese powder on the honey and cheese is addicting. The seafood pancake is fried amazingly and was thick! Great Korean spot in Oakland! The food was solid. We ordered the mackerel, chicken katsu, and ramen. I realized after ordering that we had gotten all Japanese dishes which may have been a mistake. I wanted to try the seafood pancake and tteokbokki but we forgot to get those. They have a nice relaxed vibe with dark interior and gentle lighting, which I appreciated. Quaint little restaurant in the Korean district on Telegraph. We stopped in tonight for a quick bite. The vibe is trendy all black interior. Our food arrived promptly and was good. I wish the banchan was a bit more substantial like most of the Korean places in town. They will bring you more if you asked but how many times can you asked..lol I like that the food are on a lighter side, not strong on the traditional garlicky taste when you finished your meal, and perk of not having your clothes smell like KBBQ. The stirred fried bulgogi beef was a tad bit on a sweeter side for me. Otherwise the kimchi soup was spot on and seafood pancake had a perfect balance of crunch and softness and tanginess from the dipping sauce without drenchedin oil. The wings was good also. We originally planned to eat at another Korean spot in the area, but they wait was long, so we switched gears. We were immediately seated at To The Moon and got a bottle of soju to share for our table. We were a group of 6, and paired off to share food. My boyfriend and I got the pork bulgogi rice bowl and spicy beef soup. Also, it seemed like the pork was tossed in the same spice used for the soup, both tasted similar. Huge portions! We were stuffed for the night. We also took our time with the meal and took breaks at times because it was spicy. I typically order food at a medium spice level, but I'd say this was medium-high spice. I'd suggest the restaurant offer different spice levels, particularly ones who may not have a high tolerance. My friends said this is a new spot, and I'm willing to come by again and try other items. Take me TO THE MOON!!! This place is the next hit spot, I guarantee it. They're new, so not many reviews and not much buzz, YET, but it's coming. They replaced Azit, so as y'all know, the parking situation here is atrocious. My BF and I got super lucky to find a spot in the lot but don't count on it. Uber if you can. It's pretty small inside, if you come in at opening, there won't be a wait but I think once they get popular, wait times may be an issue. Customer service was phenomenal! Our waiter was so attentive and nice. We did order a good amount of dishes and between that, our questions, and refills for banchan, he had to go back and forth a bit just for our one table. He was so pleasant and cheery though, he made our experience so nice. We only ordered one refill on banchan okay, as much as I could have went back for two or three more lol Our banchan for the night included eggplant, fish cake, radish, jap chae, glazed potatoes and pickle cabbage. The cabbage was whatever and the potatoes a bit too sweet, but everything else was phenomenal. One of the best ban chans I've ever had. BF really liked the radish but the eggplant and fish cake were just wow. Even the jap chae had hella flavor, considering it was noodles only. They didn't have kimchi as an option but we asked, and he said he could give us some. He claims it wasn't quite ready as they had just started pickling it and it needed a couple more days, but tbh it was perfect for me. One of the better kimchis for sure. The menu is QR only. I personally don't care for this in general so it was just okay lol I will say it's one of the better ones I've had. If you like this dish, you'll like the one they have here. Corn cheese - This was a smaller sized dish but the layer of cheese on top was perfectly melty brown, and thick. The corn had a good sweetness that contrasted with the cheese. Solid choice. Soy garlic wings - 4 wings but they're massive!! You can opt for plain or other flavors but we did soy garlic. I feel like they glazed the chicken well but the sauce is verrrrrry sweet. And that's coming from a girl who likes sweet. If they had an option to make it a little less sweet and add some spiciness, it would be a winner in my book. It's still a good option but maybe if you have other more savory dishes to balance it all out. It comes with a little cup of pickled radish too, the plain kind which helps cut the sweetness a bit. Def need some rice with this one. Rose tteokbokki - Their tteokbokki comes with a few diff options, you can do spicy or rose for a $2 upcharge. I went with rose, because I love a creamy tteokbooki. This one wasn't spicy at all, very creamy. Maybe even a little too light on flavor? They use both the stick and flat type of rice cakes which I actually really like. These give texture variation to the dish, as the flat ones are generally softer and thinner to chew while the stick ones are thicker and chewier. It comes with a good amount of fish cake but the fish cakes are in huge strips. I would have preferred they cut it up more. Unless you really like rice cakes and fish cake, I'd probably skip this. Good portion size though. Pan fried pork belly with green onion - Normally, my BF would not want korean food. A lot of dishes lean on the sweeter side which he doesn't care for. We only came together because we saw this dish didn't come with a sauce. It's literally pan fried pork belly with green onion haha There are a few cooked bean sprouts mixed in but nothing crazy. The green onion shreds had a red dressing on top which was kinda tangy. I felt like it was unnecessary though. The dish comes with a side of ssamjjang to dip which I looooved. Ssamjjang is a soybean paste that is a bit salty so dont put too much on your pork. Paired with rice. SO fire. Steamed rice - $3 each, must order on the side. Super fresh and fluffy t though. We decided to pick a few options from the menu to give this spot a fair try, but next time I'm coming for the galbi jim and seafood pancake! Side note - the bathroom sink is horrible. I was surprised to see that Azit had been replaced by To The Moon, as I thought their food was quite good. After hearing that this new restaurant was popular, I decided to place a pick-up order. I'm not giving them a lower rating because they messed up my order, but rather because their portions are on the smaller side. I would definitely consider coming here for drinks and anju (small plates served with drinks) with friends. I ordered the spicy pork belly and specifically requested it to be spicy, and it turned out really well. I must admit that their side dishes were also quite good, and I particularly enjoyed the eggplant. I hope this restaurant stays around and expands its menu offerings. However there is a Korean moon in Temescal, that you can and should go to. Eomuk slathered in onion jalapeño oil, eggplant in garlic chili and cellophane noodles look up at you. The eggplant alone is a reason to come here Mul naengmyeon isn't the best. The beef intestine, prepared jjim style, in sweet hot allium paste with tteok, all in the stone dolsot, charring and caramelizing the contents so the dish developes and improves in front of you, in real time. Okay so I must leave a review for this place. We went here on a Friday night for late night dinner and saw this place closed at 2 AM. Initial impressions on getting here weren't the best as the parking was indeed limited (the restaurant shared space with 2-3 other restaurants and a karaoke lounge). However, it was not difficult to find. The restaurant itself is not within the plaza but on the street-side facing the main street. We entered and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Ambiance was so chill, playlist phenomenal, and staff were very attentive and kind. I wasn't feeling well so I went ahead and got soybean paste soup while my bae got a beef rib soup. Before we even ordered, they had already placed down the banchan/side dishes. As soon as we ordered, we started tasting the banchan, we were FLOORED. How were these side dishes so TASTY?! We weren't expecting too much as we had a long day and it was getting late, but oh man, we're so thankful that we ate at To The Moon. We could not have enough of the side dishes, by the time our food came, we STILL continued to eat the side dishes. Our soups were so flavorful and heartwarming. The service was amazing as well. Our party of 6 ordered too much food, but we enjoyed getting a taste of many different dishes. To the Moon opens at 6pm, and we were seated for our reservation right away. The restaurant is not very big, and our table was 3 tables put together. We weren't cramped, but the food could have definitely used more space! Oddly, they have Country Western music playing. We kindly asked that they turn it down so we could converse, and they obliged. They had one big screen tv, and it would have been nice to watch the World Series, but they said it didn't work. Not a big deal, since we were with friends that we wanted to visit with. We ordered the Braised Beef Short Ribs special, and there was a lot of ingredients in that stew! I especially liked the rice cakes and glass noodles in it! The meat was well flavored and the dish was plentiful ($59.99). We ordered the sweet and spicy chicken wings as well as the soy/garlic wings. Those wings are huge! The pancake was yummy, as was the tofu soup. The Hotstone bibimbap was excellent. We also tried the pan fried pork belly with green onion salad. This was the least popular dish among us. The banchan dishes were refilled and enjoyed by all. I'd go back again to try some of their other dishes. They had a steady stream of customers for a Tuesday evening. I hope they continue to do well. Service was great. We were coming home after a long day and was craving some Korean food and thankfully they were still open at 10pm on a Sunday night (they close at 2am!!). We ordered the mussel soup, pork bulgogi, and the seafood korean pancake. The soup was so delicious and broth was very refreshing, the korean pancake was also delicious and on the thicker side of what I was used to but flavor was still really good. The pork bulgogi was my favorite of the things we ordered -- the sauce was so good and flavorful and if you try anything at all I really suggest the pork bulgogi! I will say that I love spicy food so if you're not the biggest fan of spice to let them know to make it less spicy. The pork bulgogi and the mussel soup were a little on the spicy end so just a fair warning for those who are sensitive to spice. The banchan was also reallt good and is my favorite banchan i have had so far out of all the Korean spots i've been to. All in all a delicious meal and would definitely go back.
