Kimchee jigae (stew), so good. Had rice cakes and broth good. Large portion

I liked the atmosphere, it appeared lively and they have nice barbecue tables and the service was good. They had a variety of Banchan (yummy crispy potatoes, pickled radish and kaktoogee). We only tried a couple items with the kimchi stew (rich broth and rice cakes in it.. yum) and pork belly, but I liked how it came with a lot of lettuce and requested gochujang. Overall great legit Korean

I am biased because Jong Ga House has been my go to Korean sit down spot since high school. I haven't had the ayce bbq there in ages, so I can't speak to that, but their regular menu items always hit. My go to is the yukgaejang - spicy beef soup with glass noodles. I just feel like they make it especially flavorful here. We recently went for lunch and it was still as good as I remembered. They also had lunch specials where you could get combo with LA galbi and a mini tofu soup, which was rlly nice cause variety! Also apparently they have nonspicy tofu soup, so the bf could have some without busting a lip ha!

Definitely still might go to spot whenever eat Korean barbecue in Oakland!!! the service is always on point!! the food is really worth it ! It's fresh and delicious! Can get crowded during night time and parking can't be tough but once you make it inside, it's amazing!!

We came here to start the New Year 2026. We got seated within minutes. It wasn't too busy. Reasonable prices, which is why we chose this place. Few servers were around. Seemed very busy. At times it was hard to get a hold of them. One thing that was alarming, was when walking around, the floor was slippy. When going to the bathroom, I felt like I was gonna fall. Hopefully, when we go next time, it won't be slippy. It was a good place to go to for sure. Will be back

    Great meats

Really good BBQ spot! The meat was flavorful, tender, and cooked perfectly, and the portions were solid. The sides were also delicious and everything came out fresh. The service was friendly and the overall vibe was great. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're craving some good BBQ. I'll definitely be coming back!

The service and food is always excellent, always my go to spot when I crave Korean food

Finally remembered to submit this take away review on Jon Ga House after years of love for this Korean institution in Oakland. Not sure whether Jong Ga changed hands or just did a refresh inside, but the interior is now vastly different than I remember: tables now have individual vent hoods to reduce smoke and allow cooking at the table. Just like any Korean BBQ spot, you have to expect leaving smelling like grilled meat. But this is a huge improvement that I'll have to try when dine in sometime. I ordered 2 spicy pork entrees for take home. The cook time was reasonable (20 min after phoning in the order). On arrival, everything was bagged and ready. Service was friendly. Once home, we unpacked and everything was packaged well to avoid any spilled oil or sauces. Meats were wrapped in foil to retain heat. Our dishes were still piping hot. Pork had a good combo of meat to fat ratio, and the spicy sauce was just right... fiery but not painful. Entrees came with a side of steamed white rice and a clamshell container of mixed banchan (kimchi, daikon, pickled cucumber, japchai, fried potato, and marinated bean sprouts). Quality Korean BBQ is not "cheap eats", so prepare yourself for the sticker shock. But if you want great Korean in Oakland, this is a great option.

Super friendly staff, and the food quality here is always excellent! So excited to come back in the future!

Nice, clean restaurant. Good variety to choose from. Quality ingredients; however some people f our meats were frozen. Competitive pricing for all-you-can-eat option. 2 grills make cooking more efficient. However they're very slow in coming around to take orders. We were waiting around to order with nothing on the grills or our plates. Staff was very polite and courteous.

    Banchan, brisket, short rib.

Jong Ga is consistently good with quality meat, great service and a variety of banchan. our favorite Korean BBQ place.

All You Can Eat Korean BBQ

We came in for the Saturday lunch special to celebrate my husband's birthday and the staff was super friendly, quick, and helpful! The staff goes above and beyond to provide their customers with a positive experience; even so far as to help me find an antacid when I might have accidentally took two of my stomach acid support supplements (I had two different types at home and had thought I got them mixed up). It was an odd request but they didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. I really truly appreciated our waitress for that! The food itself, delicious!! Everything from the sides to the quality of the meats. 10/10 will come back!

Ask the Community - Jong Ga House

Why don't they give you to go boxes on "all you can eat?

You generally are not allowed to bring home "all you can eat" food anywhere. It's because people can exploit and order more than they can eat and bring it home, which the restaurant can lose profit. However, you can to-go food that are a la carte,…

Can they accommodate a party of 12 with everyone sitting together or do we have to sit at two tables apart from each other?

Yes. If you reserve ahead of time, they can accommodate by combining tables in the back section closer to the kitchen door.

    All you can eat?

    Yes, $30.99/person

    Whats the price per person?

    $30.99

Are they open for outside dining?

No, they don't offer outside seating (no room). We had to pick up our food and eat by the lake (there are tables available).

Is it open for dine in yet?

Yes! There is inside dining now

Do they have garlic butter chicken?

    Nope

Do u have special menu or discount for the birthday guy?

If you go on the birthday day & show them your ID you will get the discounted price

When is the latest they will take customers?

The hours posted are: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Monday - Sunday. Call them at 510-444-7658 and ask them for sure how late the accent customers....Cheers!

    Are there any vegetarian dishes?

Before the main dish comes, you get 12 bowls of kimchee. These are totally vegetarian. Also, you get a red-colored noodle soup that is made with fermented young daikon. This is vegetarian. Now, regarding the main courses, I do not know. But I…

I heard the parking is hard during dinner time?

During prime time it can be. It's mostly street parking with meters. You can try residential parking but after 5:30 or so it gets harder because everyone is coming home from work.

Does anyone know the pricing and what Happy hour menus are?

$17 bucks for lunch. happy hour is 9pm-11pm AYCE for $20

What's the difference between Kalbi sal and the LA kalbi other than being boneless?

LA kalbi is a nicer cut and generally more flavorful and tender (at least from my experience)

    When is happy hour?

    9 pm - 11 pm

Is the lunch menu also for Saturday/Sunday?

The lunch menu are available on weekends!

Very big serving size with all the best mixes of toppings on top of the delicious short ribs. The sauce is so good and makes the dish 15/10. Service is ok but that's biased because we order the biggest/longest to cook dish but it's still pretty good. Restaurant ambiance is just ok in my opinion, not too many distracting decorations and tables & booths feel nice. We've also tried the spicy rice noodles which were just a 6/10 for me. The kimchi fried rice was also good but not our favorite -- solid 6/10 as well. We literally just come here for the short ribs. So if you're ever in the mood for Korean food and feeling a little 'rich', this place is a must try.

I was violently craving seolleongtang and did some research to find a spot in Oakland. The menu is pretty big with a lot of enticing options--I love bossam and blood sausage--but because I had tunnel vision, I stuck with the soup. The broth itself was good, and they had salt and pepper on the table so you could season it to your liking. Unfortunately, the noodles were way too soft and almost mushy, and the meat was extremely tough and hard to chew. I couldn't finish it. If seolleongtang is one of your favorite dishes, I'd probably skip it here. My husband got the kimchi fried rice, which was huge and great for sharing between 2-4 people. Based on the portion size, I do think it could use an extra egg, more Spam and some nori on top. It leaned more oily and buttery than other versions I've had, but it was still good--just nothing too special. The vibe and service were solid, so I'd come back to try other dishes and update my rating accordingly.

There was less flavor. The Galbi was solid and that has not changed. Good taste and portion for the price. The Spicy Pork in the Bibimbap was not spicy and did not have much flavor. Jamie W and I came here because we like to see what delectable options there might be on Oakland's Kimchi Row. Hey, I didn't make that nickname up. We came here because I heard they make an awesome Korean beef soup. Time to get our Korean on. Now I have to admit it took us a while to figure out how to enter because there were no transparent windows or doors on the street-facing sides of the building. We almost did a full rotation of the restaurant before we could get in. It's rather spartan inside, more like an old-school Shoney's. The menu consists mostly of soups and hot pots but also includes traditional Korean favorites customers expect. Jamie went with his favorite, the $20.99 Dolsot Bibimbap, steamed rice mixed with vegetables and beef sizzling in a stone pot (Photo 7). That was executed just fine with plenty of variety and heat retention. I wanted to try one of their soups and ordered the $30.95 Kkorigomtang, a bubbling cauldron of thick beef broth with submerged chunks of oxtail (Video). It required some patience to sip. Once it was temperate enough to taste, the broth was hearty but started to get blandly redundant once the tails were scooped out. This is where the Banchan came to my rescue as I dipped mouthfuls from each dish to spice up the broth (Photo 6). A bowl of rice and Jamie's leftovers helped, too.
