Had a very disappointing experience with Toast this morning. We arrive expecting a wait, it was 1015 on a Sunday morning. We were seated at the piano bar, which is meh seating. The restaurant itself is very cramped. Not for those who need their own space. Our server was nice. She was clearly busy and doing her best to make sure we had what we needed. The issue wasn't with the service at all - it was entirely with the food. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out. My husband and I got our meals first then it took another 5 minutes for my sister in law to get her meal (2 eggs and bacon). Our meals (corned beef & hash) were very fatty. No seasoning or pizazz at all. All around just very average. The best part about our experience was the wonderful gentleman singing & playing songs on the piano. Get that man a Grammy, he was great. Overall, we're not coming back. Would rather spend our money elsewhere. read more

In town visiting a best friend and we drove into Charleston to catch the sunrise (please do it if in SC) afterwards we decided to come to breakfast at toast and no regrets the food was plenty and flavorful. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the flies in the restaurant. read more

We were so excited to see Toast was opening in mount Pleasant. One of our favorite breakfast places in Cary NC was Toast. I have to say, very disappointing. The actual restaurant is dark and small. There is a huge bar and grand piano in the middle of the room. Very poor seating and space to walk. The breakfast we had was very substandard. My eggs were over cooked. My bacon was cold and came in about 10 pieces instead of strips. Bread cold. Wait staff was great. Very attentive and apologetic for how long it to to get our food. Will we be back??? Lisa was our waitress and did a good job walking us through the breakfast menu. Wasn't sure what an open face omelet was, but not a fan. I'd rather have an omelet stuffed with veggies and cheese. Toast All Day was super accommodating on a busy Mother's Day Sunday! Vickie was amazing, she made us feel special like we were one of the family. The appetizer, drinks and food was served promptly and correct. The Creme Brulee Latte was absolutely amazing!!! And the Eggs Meeting Street was extremely delicious. Just attended a soft opening for this location. We were a party of four. Staff were in training but we couldn't tell. The waitress, Hanna, knew the menu well and served us all perfectly. Food was very good. House made biscuits the size of your hand. Fluffy and very Southern. Salads are plentiful, omelet was perfectly done and a Toast Burger came out exactly medium. To begin not one waitress was wearing a mask. We should've left then but didn't. Ordered an egg over easy and it was hard as a brick. The gravy had separated and tasted sour. A few kinks to work out, but good food. Popped in for breakfast to-go. I don't eat a lot for breakfast so thought I'd get a to-go meal to split with my hubby. The host was not sure who could take my order, they have a to-go menu right there, so surely this is a "thing" there. After a few minutes he got the bartender to take my order. She was very friendly. While I waited another patron kept sending her food back. Some staff was getting trained as well. A few hiccups apparently there. I received my food; a ham, bacon and cheese omelet with biscuit and home fries, with a coffee. I had added gravy when asked, but didn't realize it was $3, yikes. My husband said everything was good but the gravy was too salty. I agree. The home fries are deep fried, very crispy, but a bit different than I am used to in home fries (usually soft/crispy in spots with onion and maybe peppers and seasoning). At a $20 price point, it is just too costly for one breakfast meal, so we will probably not be back soon. read more

Went to the soft open and received our entrees for free. Yay! I'm not going to comment on the service/speed since it was opening week and they're still getting their sea legs. The biscuits. Holy smokes, I've never seen such large biscuits. We're talking biscuits the size of grapefruit. I had the Irish omelette. It was good... but not awesome. It was better than the one they serve at Tommy Condons downtown, so they have that going for them. The one negative thing was that there did not seem to be a kids menu and I have 2 kids. They couldn't finish the short stack... which was really a stack of pancakes 1" thick (each pancake)! They need something suited for smaller appetites. We'll be back and hopefully review some more of the dishes. The shrimp n grits caught my eye... maybe I should have gotten that. Next time, for sure. read more

MASKS AREN'T REQUIRED OR ENFORCED - We've heard good things about the food so this morning my husband and I planned on having breakfast at Toast. I accidentally left my mask at home so when we arrived there I stayed in the car and my husband walked in to ask if they had an extra one I could use. The staff's response "she doesn't need one, it's okay"! Then my husband noticed that several of the staff members weren't wearing a mask or socially distancing either and pointed this out to the staff. Once again she responded saying "it's okay, we don't require masks." Considering the fact that more than 400k people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 so far, it's absolutely unacceptable for a business to not give a damn! No lady, IT'S NOT OKAY and we'll never visit this place again. read more

The reason for the low rating is the lack of staff. We waited about 40 minutes for a table with half of them being empty. The one poor waitress was practically running to seat and wait on customer. Food was great, 5 stars but do not expect a quick seating unless the owners open their eyes and hire more staff. Toast downtown Charleston has been my favorite Charleston restaurant for years so when we were attending a wedding on Isle of Palms and we saw a Toast close we were ecstatic ! But it all ends there . $90 breakfast for four ... my eggs were very small , my sausage was burned , dry , and the size of a quarter ... home fries were great ... biscuit was so cold that butter wouldn't melt ... my wife's stuffed French toast was very good ... sons regular French toast was just regular ... nothing special and his sausage was dry, burned and the size of a quarter . Daughters omelet was good . Used to be that the portions were big even though the prices were too ... but now it's a bad deal and not worth the trip anymore . Small portions of mediocre food isn't a path to success . I used to go to the downtown location weekly for many years before we moved . Now I travel here often but will have to replace my "go to" with another option . If this is the new Toast , then it won't be long before it's " toast " ! read more

Wow! What a great little spot in Mount Pleasant. Love the atmosphere, cute outdoor dining area and lighting. Our server was so friendly and eager to make us happy. Can't say enough about the food!
