It seems like this is a newish place that is working out it's kinks. The people were all extremely nice but service was very slow. We sat down at about 7pm and it took nearly an hour for the food for 3 of our 4 people to come out. The fourth came out at least 15 minutes later. Yes two of of us got super slices but it just seemed like it took longer than it should for the low number of customers. It took several tries to get water and one of our parties drinks came probably 15 minutes after everyone else's. This place can be great if they can get it together. The menu is decent. Ok, they moved into a new building/space. I get it, needs some more work. But honestly, they should have gotten the space together before accepting guests. Partly run down former tropical business serving Italian food. Service- poor. They were somewhat busy (8 tables) with really only 1 server we could see. A part time bartender that always disappeared and someone running out food and talking to tables. Food- mediocre. For the prices these places now charge in OC, you'd think you were in Vegas. It's getting way out of hand. $20 for a cheese pizza is absurd. Living in Washington DC, they sell for $12. Beyond that, the salads are iceberg, 2 slices each of tomato, cucumber and onion, for $8. $20 chicken parm was a half order, in my experience from eating at touch of Italy. I could have eaten 2. But, it was very tasty! Ambiance- decent view, horrible interior. The doors create a vacuum that whistles. When one is opened, hold your table down. And don't sit near the door! We came here the day before since it was right next to our condo and we had ordered drinks. It was a cute outdoor bar and restaurant. The next day we ordered take out and the person who answered the phone was less then helpful. He didn't really know anything and had little direction. We winded up placing the order online. We had quite a few things for our group that consisted of apps, salad, sandwiches and a calzone. The Buffalo wings were average nothing crazy or special. The mozzarella sticks were an absolute disaster.. they were burnt so badly and rock solid that all the cheese had melted out prior in the fryer. All that was left was over cooked breading. The salad was extremely sad. It looked like the forgot 1/2 the ingredients and it was the size of a side salad and not an entree size. We had added grilled chicken to the salad and they gave us a small little rolled up foil packet with some cold hard chicken. My husband got the cheesesteak but they had forgotten the cheese and the meat looked atrocious. Finally I got the calzone to share and although it was okay it wasn't anything special or to rave about. All in all. We were not thrilled with the food or service at this place. So I've heard nothing but good about Toast and wanted to try the super slice since early summer. Finally made it there tonight. We arrived at 1750 hours and were seated immediately by the manager. After being seated the "hostess" welcomed us. Our waiter, not sure of his name, took our drink order. He brought the drinks out not long after. We placed our order for food, 1 super slice piece of pizza, and 3 12" personal pizzas. The waiter did not come back and check on us even though he walked past us several times. The hostess checked on us once. When we got to the 1 hour mark of waiting with no interaction of staff we stopped the waiter in his passing and asked about the food. He said soon. Shortly after we stopped the hostess in her passing and asked her the same. She went to check and came back saying 6 minutes. After another 20 minutes or so we stopped her again she checked again and came back saying they are getting it ready to come out to us. When the food finally came out, the waiter just put it on our table. We had to ask for more drinks since he did not ask. I watched another table get the super slice and their waitress took pictures of the person eating it and made it see like a fun experience. The hostess was there as well rooting along. My experience was the food was placed on table and please don't bother the wait staff. The hostess never came back to us or interacted with us again. When others were leaving she was thanks for coming and whatever else she said. She ignored us and seemed very rude. She was worthless and made dinner a big disappointment. One bartender seemed to have an argument with the hostess at one point of the night. I don't believe in not tipping since most of the time it's kitchen issues and not the wait staff when delays and other issues arise. This waiter did not even check on us or interact in any way. He did say thank you for your patience when he took our money. I did tip him the 20%. He could have been over worked with little to no help especially from the rude hostess who will deter people from going there. I have told many people to go there and try it since I have seen many positive reviews on Facebook. That will end and I will tell them different now. I wanted to try this breakfast place that is located in West OC by the outlets. Because they serve all day breakfast, I stopped in and they have alot on their menu including pancakes & french toast. I had platter with Scrapple, 2 Fried eggs w/cheese, Potatoes, and an English muffin. The scrapple was very good. Eggs were cooked perfect and hot. Small amount of potatoes but were also soft and fried. The atmosphere is that like a local diner, the staff were friendly and they have a bakery section in the waiting area with eclairs. Visited the place because fellow Jersey folk told us the pizza was on point. It was absolutely the best pizza we've eaten in OCMD and we visit 6-8 times a year. Unfortunately the place seems mismanaged. Went on a Tuesday, we waited 45 minutes for a table and the place was not full and then another 50 minutes after we ordered. With the exception of our hostess, the waitstaff seemed miserable. There was a leak and water all over the middle of the restaurant. My mom celebrated her birthday recently at Ocean City. There were limited restaurants open during the off season, so we did some digging to find what was available. We decided upon Toast- a charming Italian restaurant, right off the highway. There was no one in the dining room, but there were loads of people coming in and out of the carry out area. The phone was ringing off the hook and that's when we knew we were in the right place. We were seated by a really nice hostess. As we perused the menu, we all decided start with some garlic cheesy bread. It was soooo good! It was just right. Crispy, with the perfect amount of cheese. My mom settled on the spaghetti and meatballs. She enjoyed the whole dish, as there were no leftovers to take home! My sister also enjoyed her food. I ordered the shrimp scampi with chicken added & man, oh, man did I love it! The white wine, butter and Parmesan cheese blended perfectly for a delicious sauce. The shrimp were fresh and the chicken was well seasoned. I had a tiny bit to take home, but that was a tease! We're all left full and satisfied. To top it off, we didn't break the bank here. The outside seating is where it's at, especially at sunset! It is relatively plain outside, but the view is outstanding. Inside seating is mediocre at best. We ordered the pizza as we've heard good things. For adults, it was pretty good; however, our kids did not like it. They have a monster slice that you can eat as a challenge or novelty. Two trips to Toast and I'm reminded of Charles Dickens' 'A Tale of Two Cities': It was the best of meals, it was the worst of meals. Okay, so both are exaggerations, but the two experiences were polar opposites. We had pizza here a few days ago and it was very good; not the best, but a really good crust, nice and thin, and toppings (on my half) were just about right. We also had the fried ravioli appetizer which came with marinara for dipping, and that was very good indeed. So we'd come back for pizza at some point. Then we had breakfast there today. I was really disappointed, because when I cut into my eggs-over-medium they were cooked perfectly; but when I tasted them they were cold. The sausage was just a supermarket-type breakfast sausage with no flavor, and the French toast was doughy -- and also cold. My wife's breakfast sandwich had been sitting so long before we were served that the bottom piece of toast was soaked with the accumulated grease. We will definitely never go back for breakfast. So two entirely different experiences. And they say 'consistency' is overrated. read more

Yes FIVE STARS! In you are a regular to Ocean City you may remember this place as TC's diner. They care so much that they kept the initials Toast Cafe TC. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very pleasant staff member. He was polite and courteous. What a wonderful way to start the day. I ordered the cream chip beef on the early bird special. It did not disappoint. It was fantastic. I looked at their menu and they are not just a breakfast place. They have a wonderful menu filled with great items (check out the previous yelp reviews for pictures) My only negative thing I can even tell you is if you order water make sure you get some lemon. As with most places in Ocean City the water has an odd taste. My best recommendation is to give this place a chance. The new owner has done a great job with freshening the place up inside and out. It was on my list of places to hit on this trip. we went to Toast today (Tuesday)for 630. They were not very busy, a few tables. I saw 3 different servers. We ordered for the 9 of us. 3 salads, 2 super slices, 2 pasta entrees, 1 chicken fingers and fries, 1 coconut shrimp appetizer, and 1 garlic bread. We waited an hour and a half. 3 salads showed up after 50 mins. Then 20 mins later 2 pasta entrees showed up. They had been sitting under the heat lamp and where cold and dried out. Then we asked to speak to a manager, who was apparently not on the premise. Then the coconut shrimp came out and the kids chicken fingers and fries. Coconut shrimp were good, but out of a box. Chicken fingers were fine, but fries were cold. We then waited and 10 min later one of the super slices came out. We ended up leaving after that. Paying for our salads and the shrimp. We took the slices to go after their insistence, the slices were actually really really good. Exactly what we were looking for. From the others we talked to in the restaurant their food was delicious. I had high hopes, but maybe an off day. The manager did arrive and offer us a gift card to return. Location was perfect over looking the bay. The server was great and apologetic. Decor is a little thrown together and no real decor choices were made. Toast, we will see you again next time around. Toast is a a total flop! I read some good and some bad remarks concerning this restaurant, So I decided to take 9 of my friends there to see for ourselves. I visited the restaurant around noon time to make a reservation for my group and I requested the outside tiki to eat under and that was no problem. We arrived on time at 5pm. There was no one manning the Hostess desk so I went to the bar outside and on the deck and told the bartender that we are here for our 5pm reservation and our seating was to be under the tiki hut. The bartender said that he was told about the reservation earlier and told me that the hostess should not have approved the reservation. No apology or anything. There were other people already eating under the tiki hut. I ask so what are we to do now? He said you could put some tables together if you want. Well I was not happy to say the least! We ended up going to the upstairs restaurant and sat at a table (after we got chairs to sit on) and waited for about 20 minutes for someone to wait on us. Still no wait waitress. I looked around the restaurant and many diners were waiting for a waitress as well. The bartender asked from the bar if we wanted drinks and I replied no as we all just wanted to leave and find another place for dinner. In closing, WHAT A SHIT SHOW! read more

I was so excited to try this place but so disappointed! Don't waste your money! Food is awful, no flavor at all. Shrimp scampi did not even taste like garlic and meatballs were flavorless. Pasta tasted liked out of a box. Drinks were awful and service was slow. The place has no ambience and looks like a cafeteria. The only thing this place has going for it are the views.
