I wanted to try this breakfast place that is located in West OC by the outlets. Because they serve all day breakfast, I stopped in and they have alot on their menu including pancakes & french toast. I had platter with Scrapple, 2 Fried eggs w/cheese, Potatoes, and an English muffin. The scrapple was very good. Eggs were cooked perfect and hot. Small amount of potatoes but were also soft and fried. The atmosphere is that like a local diner, the staff were friendly and they have a bakery section in the waiting area with eclairs. Visited the place because fellow Jersey folk told us the pizza was on point. It was absolutely the best pizza we've eaten in OCMD and we visit 6-8 times a year. Unfortunately the place seems mismanaged. Went on a Tuesday, we waited 45 minutes for a table and the place was not full and then another 50 minutes after we ordered. With the exception of our hostess, the waitstaff seemed miserable. There was a leak and water all over the middle of the restaurant. The outside seating is where it's at, especially at sunset! It is relatively plain outside, but the view is outstanding. Inside seating is mediocre at best. We ordered the pizza as we've heard good things. For adults, it was pretty good; however, our kids did not like it. They have a monster slice that you can eat as a challenge or novelty. I went to Toast for the first time after it was recommended to me by friends and I was absolutely delighted. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the music was outstanding. It really added to the ambience. I inquired about the playlist and Mike was kind enough to go over it with me. He was wonderful along with our server. Food was great until I got a slice of tin foil in my shrimp scampi. Waiter laughed about it more than once. Asked for a manager. I was told owner was there but after three attempts to request to talk to him, he would not come out. I would think a business in ocean city in the middle of summer that only had 4 tables full during dinner time would at least care about the customers they did have. Ok, so it was hard to find as they changed locations recently. And using a gps takes you on a rather interesting route. But after a Facebook and website search to find the new address ...and found it! Amazing views in a small bar type settings on a second floor of a hotel/resort. Looks like they are still starting up a bit. But service was fantastic and so was the food. Being from upstate NY...this is legit Italian! My mom celebrated her birthday recently at Ocean City. There were limited restaurants open during the off season, so we did some digging to find what was available. We decided upon Toast- a charming Italian restaurant, right off the highway. There was no one in the dining room, but there were loads of people coming in and out of the carry out area. The phone was ringing off the hook and that's when we knew we were in the right place. We were seated by a really nice hostess. As we perused the menu, we all decided start with some garlic cheesy bread. It was soooo good! It was just right. Crispy, with the perfect amount of cheese. My mom settled on the spaghetti and meatballs. She enjoyed the whole dish, as there were no leftovers to take home! My sister also enjoyed her food. I ordered the shrimp scampi with chicken added & man, oh, man did I love it! The white wine, butter and Parmesan cheese blended perfectly for a delicious sauce. The shrimp were fresh and the chicken was well seasoned. I had a tiny bit to take home, but that was a tease! We're all left full and satisfied. To top it off, we didn't break the bank here. Short review: Pizza was actually great, the best I have had in Ocean City. Service was slow, entrees were cold and took forever to come out. Location was the highlight, tiki bar looked great out on the bay. We try again next time. Long Review: We have been wanting to come to Toast for a while. It was on my list of places to hit on this trip. we went to Toast today (Tuesday)for 630. They were not very busy, a few tables. I saw 3 different servers. We ordered for the 9 of us. 3 salads, 2 super slices, 2 pasta entrees, 1 chicken fingers and fries, 1 coconut shrimp appetizer, and 1 garlic bread. We waited an hour and a half. 3 salads showed up after 50 mins. Then 20 mins later 2 pasta entrees showed up. They had been sitting under the heat lamp and where cold and dried out. Then we asked to speak to a manager, who was apparently not on the premise. Then the coconut shrimp came out and the kids chicken fingers and fries. Coconut shrimp were good, but out of a box. Chicken fingers were fine, but fries were cold. We then waited and 10 min later one of the super slices came out. We ended up leaving after that. Paying for our salads and the shrimp. We took the slices to go after their insistence, the slices were actually really really good. Exactly what we were looking for. From the others we talked to in the restaurant their food was delicious. I had high hopes, but maybe an off day. The manager did arrive and offer us a gift card to return. Location was perfect over looking the bay. The server was great and apologetic. Decor is a little thrown together and no real decor choices were made. Toast, we will see you again next time around. Toast is a a total flop! I read some good and some bad remarks concerning this restaurant, So I decided to take 9 of my friends there to see for ourselves. I visited the restaurant around noon time to make a reservation for my group and I requested the outside tiki to eat under and that was no problem. We arrived on time at 5pm. There was no one manning the Hostess desk so I went to the bar outside and on the deck and told the bartender that we are here for our 5pm reservation and our seating was to be under the tiki hut. The bartender said that he was told about the reservation earlier and told me that the hostess should not have approved the reservation. No apology or anything. There were other people already eating under the tiki hut. I ask so what are we to do now? He said you could put some tables together if you want. Well I was not happy to say the least! We ended up going to the upstairs restaurant and sat at a table (after we got chairs to sit on) and waited for about 20 minutes for someone to wait on us. Still no wait waitress. I looked around the restaurant and many diners were waiting for a waitress as well. The bartender asked from the bar if we wanted drinks and I replied no as we all just wanted to leave and find another place for dinner. In closing, WHAT A SHIT SHOW! read more

Two trips to Toast and I'm reminded of Charles Dickens' 'A Tale of Two Cities': It was the best of meals, it was the worst of meals. Okay, so both are exaggerations, but the two experiences were polar opposites. We had pizza here a few days ago and it was very good; not the best, but a really good crust, nice and thin, and toppings (on my half) were just about right. We also had the fried ravioli appetizer which came with marinara for dipping, and that was very good indeed. So we'd come back for pizza at some point. Then we had breakfast there today. I was really disappointed, because when I cut into my eggs-over-medium they were cooked perfectly; but when I tasted them they were cold. The sausage was just a supermarket-type breakfast sausage with no flavor, and the French toast was doughy -- and also cold. My wife's breakfast sandwich had been sitting so long before we were served that the bottom piece of toast was soaked with the accumulated grease. We will definitely never go back for breakfast. So two entirely different experiences. And they say 'consistency' is overrated. read more

For being a new location for Toast, the owner should have paid attention to details. The indoor space is not very inviting at all. Just kinda looks run down. There are a lot of options in OC/West OC, hopefully the owner gets it together a bit. Also, working on bringing all the food out at the same time would be a benefit!! read more

Yes FIVE STARS! In you are a regular to Ocean City you may remember this place as TC's diner. They care so much that they kept the initials Toast Cafe TC. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very pleasant staff member. He was polite and courteous. What a wonderful way to start the day. I ordered the cream chip beef on the early bird special. It did not disappoint. It was fantastic. I looked at their menu and they are not just a breakfast place. They have a wonderful menu filled with great items (check out the previous yelp reviews for pictures) My only negative thing I can even tell you is if you order water make sure you get some lemon. As with most places in Ocean City the water has an odd taste. My best recommendation is to give this place a chance. The new owner has done a great job with freshening the place up inside and out. Had a late lunch here for the first time. The views are amazing, the bartender made an awesome margarita and very friendly. The food was pretty good. Had the eggplant tower and hubby had a burger, which he really enjoyed. Will try dinner next time we're in the area. Service was a little slow but I think due to them just starting up. We decided to walk to Toast because it was near our vacation condo. They have an amazing bay view! We got wings, homemade meatballs, and three NY style pizzas. The waiter was wonderful!
