Coconuts is the place to be in Ocean City! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were promptly seated. The crispy chicken club sandwich was standard, my least favorite was the bun which I found dense. They give you a massive amount of fries when you upgrade which I appreciate! They were crispy and the perfect size. The chicken Cesar wrap was enjoyable with the perfect chicken to Cesar ratio. Coconuts has an extensive drink menu with a full bar. They offer both drink cups and buckets, my favorite are the crushes and they have something for everyone! Our server was attentive and made sure to check in with us regularly. The location is my favorite part. They're located right on the beach front with high top tables in both the sand and on the patio. They have multiple bars, a gift shop, a little stage for live music, and public accessible bathrooms. Parking proves to be difficult as the designated parking lot is quite small. We only went here to see a band I was eager to see and someone I know said they love Coconuts. I also have passed by for years and always wanted to check out the beach bar. So to start, there is NO signage to direct you from the parking lot to the restaurant) bar. If it wasn't for us being late to hear the start up for the band, we only followed the music to figure out how to get to the bar. You do have to check-in with a hostess to get seated for the restaurant and if you want to drink at the bar, they require a pre check of your ID to get aa wristband that you are of-age to drink. Actually a great way to do it since it seems like this place could get a little hectic as it's overly popular with their 2for1 drink happy hour. There's lots of security who are well marked in bright tshirts and they keep an eye on patrons and are helpful when needed. I'm not used to it, but smoking seems to be allowed because it's all outdoors and I was happy that the customers behind us who did smoke were there for a short time period, otherwise we might have needed to move. Thankfully the band we wanted to see was awesome as the food was 50-50. I enjoyed my buffalo chicken wrap, not to rave over it, but it was a bar food sandwich. My husband had the crispy chicken club and was very disappointed. When I asked, "how's your sandwich" he answered "terrible"! I rarely hear that, so sad that his choice wasn't good. It was a small piece of chicken for the price and not even sure if he had 2 slices of bacon because it was smothered with cheese to not ID it. The chicken was hard coated with a very thick crust and his comment back was he hoped not to break a tooth. Pepsi products are served here, so that was to our liking. Again, if we ever return, it would only be to see an exceptional band we know and probably skip food, though it was recommended by our waitress to try the coconut shrimp or rockfish fingers. Maybe I'd try them to see if anything was redeeming here. The family and I stayed at Castle in the Sand for a week and had the best service I've had in a long, long time, from everyone - from the servers, carry out counter, front desk, housekeeping, lifeguards.... The food was very good. Excellent, perfect wings! I like them crispy and meaty and they were perfect. They came with celery and ranch or blue cheese. Said they came 8 to an order and both times I ordered I got 10 wings! Also had a tuna steak sandwich, very good, lots of kids meals which were a hit, and coconut shrimp which were excellent. The service was spectacular. We had beach service from under our umbrella or poolside. So attentive. I ordered carry out twice. Excellent service and food. The second time I asked if the counter lady had any Tylenol and she went out of her way to check their first aid kit and got me three packs! Wouldn't take my money! So I left a five in her tip jar. They are well-staffed too. We never waited long for anything. The live bands were always great. I loved hearing the music which was almost always mellow acoustic in the afternoons and a more upbeat band for the second set. A few family members and I stopped in to grab a couple drinks a few days ago. When we first arrived we grabbed a round from the bar and then stood to the side as we waited for a table. After hanging out and having a few drinks, the line at the bar got ridiculously long. We also had not received a text for a table yet. This bar had a very young crowd and although they serve food I did not see anyone with food on their table in the area where we were standing. The wait for a table can be extensive as it looks like most people park there simply to drink for hours and hours. Went there during memorial day weekend so i get the high volume of people but this was packed...like wait 30 min in line for a beer packed. We also put our name down for a table to get food and had to wait 3 hours...not kidding. When we finally got food it was low quality bar food. Bar drinks are very weak however their happy hour from 5-6 is very reasonable, all drinks are buy one get one. There is a beach attached to it however it's packed with drunk college kids who leave it a mess. If your a younger person this is a great spot. Coconuts is THE happy hour place in OC! From 5-6 they have BOGO drinks which is fun (and dangerous!) Coconuts is located in the front part of Castle in the Sand on 37th st. We showed up with a party of 8 so we had a bit of a wait to get a table but were able to grab drinks at the bar while we waited. The whole area that wasn't tables was very congested so my friends and I kept trying to find an area to drink and chill while we waited. This is why I took off a star-- literally everywhere we tried to wait we were told my security that we couldn't stand there. Where are we supposed to stand and wait without getting yelled at?!? Anyway, besides that everything was great. Once we sat down we ordered some apps. They have my favorite type of French fry that we're perfectly crispy. And their crap dip surprised me and was BOMB. I came for my 25th birthday right before happy hour around 4:30pm and it was going great until the very end. Our server ( the blonde identical twin with the clip) maybe came to check on us 3 times the entire stay. Which is fine because it was busy and raining. After we paid the check and proceeded to leave a tip. The waitress had the gull to come back to the table and say "$20 is crazy for me serving you guys in the rain." Then proceed to tell the table behind us and say "if you can't tip then don't go out" This was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. You get the tip you deserve. So happy this place is practicing social distancing with their tables. We were nervous at first, coming here Fourth of July weekend, but they seemed to really have their operation down. We came here on a Sunday and they had outdoor music, outdoor bars, and tables set up both on their concrete and the sand. Seems like the sand used to be for volleyball, which obviously will not be happening. As for drinks, they specialize in crushes. So pick your flavor and enjoy a standard prices 8/9 dollar cocktail. Happy hour, starting at five, let's you go for a 2 for 1 deal which sadly goes by kind of fast. We got some food as well which was about average- what you'd expect from an outdoor grill in ocean city. Biggest complaints, staff does not always wear their masks. You can tell they were just told to have them without taking it seriously. When you're not sitting at a table, it can get pretty crowded and hard to avoid folks. And as I mentioned, food is okay. Tried this place after arriving to Ocean City and wanted a cool little beach bar. The wife suggested we try it out. The bar is attached to a castle hotel set against the beach. It's a good size outdoor venue with a covered bar, live music and activities like beach volleyball and cornhole. Trying to get here is easy but finding parking is another task. They do have a small lot closer to the street but it was full. We ended up parking across the Main Street in what seemed like the convention center parking lot. It was free. We were greeted and taken to a table right away. There was a guy playing the guitar and signing and was really good. I'm not sure how someone knows alll those songs but he did haha Menu was pretty typical for food and drink at any beach bar and wasn't overly priced and the food was good. Our waiter was really nice too and helpful. If you're looking for a cool beach bar then this is a good place to try. We would go back for sure. read more
