    My breakfast
    Chris G.

The food was delicious and delivered out quickly and I love their coffee! Service was very attentive!

    Simple Breakfast

I ordered the simple breakfast plate and a Spanish omelette plate. The Simple Breakfast was pretty good overall, everything on the plate was cooked well. The eggs weren't burnt, bacon weren't too soft or too crunchy, the toast had a good crunch, the potatoes were pretty bland. The Spanish omelette was a nice size, but it was pretty average tasting. I would not recommend to add cheese and jalapeños for $3 more to the potatoes. Overall from everything I ordered I was not impressed, everything was average and I wouldn't go out of my way for it. My bill for this came out to $60 before tip which I believe is expensive for what I got and other brunch places in the area. The staff were friendly and the food came out quick. The Ambiance is casual and simple.

I've been back a couple of times and overall have had a good experience every time. I wouldn't say that it's as standout of an experience as before, as the staff is just not as engaging and attentive anymore, but the food is still pretty yummy. Just a note, by the time the food was brought out, it was just this side of cool, which was a bummer. We'll still be back but might give it a little time before we're back to try it again.

This is one of my favorite brunch places. Their signature Benedict is perfect! The sauce is great, the thick cut bacon is salty, and eggs are cooked perfectly. I don't know what they put in their country potatoes, but they are awesome as well. I find that the food at this location is better than at the other Toast locations, and come back here all the time.

Great outside Patio & amazing chili steak.

Toast in 1st is the best period! They have my chimmy steak and m Nine of the others have it!

This little gem has become our family favorite for breakfast and/or brunch! The lot where this adorable restaurant sits is a bit of a ghost town, so there is ample parking. The staff greets you at the door, and presents an option of indoor or outdoor seating. We started frequenting this lovely cafe early last year after a friend who loves in the area recommended it, and we have returned almost once a week since then. The staff is so friendly and pleasant, and we have yet to have a bad experience. We actually live about 20 minutes away and we make the drive just to eat here. The dining room includes maybe ~11 tables and there are more and larger tables outside under canopies. The food is delicious! Also, I cannot stress enough that this establishment is NOT the same as Toast at the Stonewood Mall (that is "Toast Kitchen and Bar," and is absolutely disappointing and the service is terrible). Portions are big enough to fill you but not so big that you are taking home boxes of food. Eggs cooked how you order every time. Bacon cooked perfectly. French toast, divine. And their coffees and lattes are to die for (try the Mexican Mocha *drools*)! We'll be back!

Pretty cool spot, super quaint interior. Food was amazing, service left a little to be desired tho. Server wasn't super attentive for the small amount of customers. Highly recommend if you like breakfast food. Everything tasted fresh and high quality.

Cute and simple! Love the patio area! Completely covered but still getting your fresh air. Food was hot and flavorful. Service was excellent.

Went with a friend before a long day of activities and it really set the tone! Ambiance is relaxed and inviting. Our table was wobbly but one of the servers fixed it right away. The toast was a great portion for what the price was and the strawberry add-ons are a must!

We were seated right away, which was nice. Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. We sat outside and it was a cute little area. The food was amazing, I loved everything we ordered! I got a vanilla latte that was amazing. My fiance and I split the house french toast and the Santa Bacon Benedict with the hash brown chips. It was some of the best food I have had in a while. The french toast was fluffy but still flavorful and not too sweet. The Benedict was great, I liked that they didn't put too much hollandaise sauce on it. Absolutely loved the hash brown chips! Totally a 10/10, can't wait to come back!

BEST BREAKFAST SPOT IN TOWN hands down. Anything you get here is absolutely fantastic. The service is timely, there's always someone around if you need something additional for the table. Ambiance is amazing. Outdoor seating is where it's at with this location! Great place to study as well!

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

I got excited as we walked in because of how cool the vibe was inside the restaurant! Modern and clean aesthetic ... such a surprise! I had already looked at the menu the night before, so I made some suggestions for our party of four adults and kiddo. Our server brought fresh sourdough rolls with seasoned butter. Solid start. We then ordered the stuffed 'shrooms and proscuitto-arugula pizza as starters. Both were very excellent, and was tell-tale of what we were about to experience with our entrees. Entrees ordered were the rigatoni with vodka sauce, the pappardelle with shortrib (two servings but really enough food for at least four ppl!) and the chicken Parmesan salad. Everything was impressive, especially the pappardelle dish. With the beurre blanc and creamy Alfredo sauce with two huge pieces of short rib that were fork tender, it was the star of the evening. This dish is made table-side to ensure that it's eaten immediately. The portions were enough for four ppl, and the sauce is just absolutely decadent. Service was attentive and prompt. Our server was lovely! She shared her favorites with us, and we followed suit by ordering her favorite desserts too! Walking inside, it definitely gives off that classic, old-school diner vibe. We were seated right away since it wasn't too busy at the time. The menu is huge, almost overwhelming, so it took us a minute to decide what to order. We kept it simple and went with the traditional pancakes, eggs, and bacon, plus a California burger. The portions were decent, but overall, the food quality was just okay. Nothing terrible, just not particularly memorable, it had a bit of that "cheap" taste to it. That said, the service really stood out. Our server was kind and patient, especially while dealing with my little one being a bit of a handful, which I definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd say it's a solid option if you're looking for a late-night sit-down spot and want to avoid fast food. While I personally wouldn't go out of my way to come back, it wasn't a bad experience. 4 stars, mainly for the friendly service, even though the food didn't quite hit for me.

Let this one hit home ! My ribeye steak dinner ~…read more I SENT BACK BECAUSE IT SMELLED LIKE FISH ! That ruined my appetite ~ Then they returned it on the plate less the onion rings ~ Stating that was the issue .... NO ! The issue is I sent my plate BACK AND I SEEN MULTIPLE PEOPLE SNIFFING IT ~ then it being returned to me ... THATS A ISSUE . I ended up having French toast . My sister ordered the ribeye as well but she not as sensitive as I am to a fishy smell ...... Then let me mention the men s restroom .... it wasn't messy and unkept but it has a freaking smell to it . Reeking of urine !!! I've been a long time customer and it's a favorite place of mine but let's not over look the importance of have a clean restroom . Let's NOT OVERLOOK THE IMPORTANCE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION OF FRYING FISH AND ONION-RINGS. Now let me mention HOW SHOCKED I WAS WHEN A YOUNG MAN APPROACHED MY TABLE TO ASK WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DRINK ? AS I looked Up ! And seen A RING IN HIS NOSE MY FIRST REACTION WAS (EEEEEKKKKK!) Thinking WHAT THE HELL DO I NEED TO SEE THIS WHEN IM OUT FOR A FAMILY DINNER ? It's DISGUSTING !!!! I paid the bill , left a tip but I hope this makes an impact to management . I can make MORE comments on this particular visit however I'll keep it to the 3 I mentioned . As a long time customer over 40 years , tonight had to be the worst experience in my lifetime of any restaurant. To be fair , I'll try Jacks Whittier again and hopefully the bathroom is disinfected with no residual urine smell and the food I order isn't smelling like FISH . Lastly , a personal dress code put into effect of body piercings. Jacks Whittier Restaurant isn't at Venice Beach ~
