I am very disappointed! I wanted some light breakfast this morning and my food did not look like in the pictures. my coworker and I ordered on doordash. My biscuit looked like it was just thrown in the microwave with some butter and when I bit into it tasted very old, and it was hard to bite into it. I ordered hash browns and I got diced potatoes that were cold. I ordered scrambled eggs and the eggs were cold and with cheese. The gravy was probably the only decent thing, but still salty. Food is mediocre. Service is god awful. Ambiance is sub par. Came in one day to grab some food to go. Their tables are old and wobbly. I accidentally spilled my coffee while attempting to stand up. The coffee spilled because of their cheap table. Stood up using their table as something to lean on and the whole thing came crashing down. The cleaning lady came out and cursed me out in Spanish using racial slurs and foul language (I'm a black male. She probably thought I couldn't understand her Spanish. Little does she know I speak 3 languages fluently. Spanish being one of them.) The guy at the register ignored me and refused to give me a new coffee without having to pay for it. He said it was my fault the coffee fell and that I needed to purchase a new one because now they needed money to fix their god forsaken wobbly sad excuse for a table. Decided to go out for breakfast by myself at 9am on a Friday morning. Cute spot with a modest interior. Order at the counter and get served at the table. I ordered a Belgian waffle with my choice of sausage patties. I gather there's only one cook because it took 18 minutes to receive my food. The server, working solo as a cashier and busser also, gave me no update on the status of my order. It wasn't terribly busy; there was one table in front of me and one takeout order as I waited. Luckily my food came out hot. For $9.75 +tax & tip, I found the waffle to be kind of small, about 6" in diameter. The sausage patties were tasty but only browned on one side. The butter was served very cold and not spreadable. Humdrum pancake syrup served on the side. No tap water available; only bottled available for purchase. read more

Toasters has easily become one of my favorite places! I've had the classic breakfast platter, the breakfast sandwich, the blueberry pancakes, and their cappuccinos. Everything is pretty moderately priced so you're getting what you're paying for. The staff is very friendly but don't always seem to have too many people working at one time so you may notice dirty plates and tables around, or a longer than expected time to wait for your food. Overall, I really enjoy this place and think if you're looking for a hole in the wall type breakfast place downtown, this would be the one to go to! read more

My favorite breakfast place in Houston. Portions are friendly, hash browns are delicious, and the service is great. You do have to pay for parking but that's a given for a place downtown. I can't wait to return here, I've gone twice and have been satisfied both times. The prices aren't too ridiculous either, so you get your money's worth. My husband and I dropped into Toaster's, a little hole in the wall cafe on the outskirts of downtown, hugging up to I10. Upon arrival there were two cute kids and big burly gentlemen waiting for our order. He seemed a little stand offish but answered all the questions new brunchers would have. I order the omelette and customized it to my liking (all vegetables and no cheese), came with a side of hashbrowns and my choice of a biscuit (my fav!!). My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros, in hopes to try the Chicken and Waffles next time. Both of our meals were cooked to perfection but I yet to find hashbrowns like the ones at Toaster's. They were browned but not charred or burned and both of us LOVED them! We will definitely be returning and will be trying other items off the menu! We parked in nearby lot. Flat fee $3 all day. We stopped in on Valentine's Day for breakfast. There was no waiting when we arrived at 10 am. Originally I was going to order latte, staff member said today they were offering mimosas, so I ordered that instead. We picked out a table with 2 seats. It was a tight fit for us. You order at the counter and they bring you your meal. Self serve on iced tea, beverages, and water. We did not take anything home with us. I did try a small piece of chicken fried chicken and it was really good. My favorite was beef mini sausages which was offered as alternative to sausage patties. Service was excellent and we actually met most of the staff. Though you do have to pay for parking, we received a free sweet freebie which was really nice. Good food but 53 minutes from order to getting food. That's a problem. It doesn't look busy from the outside, but it's deceptive. It's busy! We walked in, ordered within a few minutes of standing in line and sat down. Good thing we weren't in a hurry! It was 53 minutes from when we ordered until we actually received food. I asked one of the runners about our food and he came back not long after with our food. I believe we wouldn't have gotten our food unless we asked. We watched one couple stand at the counter waiting to order for over 10 minutes to no avail. The service here has to be fixed. The food was good. We had breakfast food (eggs, bacon, french toast), nothing that should take more than 15 minutes to get out to the table. First of all - BLACK SHADES at the register (sigh). So anyways, we had a few questions about the menu because I remember having fish with my breakfast and so now the menu has changed. So I can sense the guy at the counter getting frustrated so we graciously stepped to the side to figure out what we wanted to avoid holding up the person behind us. I really wanted my partner to experience the place since I had just come from a conference and wasn't as hungry. We tried to order a meal for him and just pancakes for me. We only eat seafood so when we ask could we sub the meat options for hash browns and grits he said yes but proceeded to charge EXTRA and said I could not get pancakes unless I get the entire meal options which included all the meats. In the midst of us trying to decide what to do as this is being presented to us the gentlemen mumbled "If you don't like it, you can leave...." I could not believe that he wasn't the least bit understanding as to why I would have questions and be patience or exude any type of customer relations after letting us know there's been new ownership. I was shocked by his dismissive attitude. He also claim to be the owner but I would hope that anyone in business would know better than be short, impatient and rude to any customer patronizing your business, unaware of the changes. He proceeded to talk shit as we were waking out and I didn't cuss him out or anything I cordially told him that he didn't have to be rude and say that while we are just asking about our options. If you're that impatient you shouldn't be at the front greeting customers and taking orders! Last time I was here the service was the best, the staff was inviting and we had a large group with us. They stayed open past the time for us, allowed us to have mimosas and closed the doors so we could finish up. The vibe of this place has changed and I will never come back because you should never, ever tell a customer "If you don't like it....." that's the worst response. This isn't your mom and pop type of establishment. Toasters will never be the same. CHANGE THE NAME!! It's misleading and you Sir are disrespectful and I was highly disappointed! Fairly good, I wish the waffles had the normal Belgium waffle taste & texture. They were a little heavy & bland. However, the chicken was really good & HOT. I loved the batter they used. Geeze, so I always forget about Toasters on San Jacinto. Simply put, this place is a normal fantastic. Arguably the best place in Houston for early Sunday breakfast. The shrimp and grits with andouille sausage is just perfect Everytime we come by. The staff, so here is the deal, if your looking for some sort of pampered millennial atmosphere, this is not it. You need to move along. If your looking for someone to welcome you into their place likes it's their own home, and own kitchen and have some friendly normal conversations from normal down to earth out and out right nice folks, then this place is for you and you need to swing by. But for sure don't stand in line in front of me complaining about the noisy traffic if your sitting outside or the "special" order you placed that even a NASA engineer would have trouble deciphering. It seems like people either love this place or hate it, we have always felt nothing but welcome when we walk in. I ordered the pancakes [my FAVORITE] and also ordered chicken tenders for my kids, waffle breakfast... Biscuits and gravy.. BLT with egg.
