Eggs Benedict
Amoré M.

I've been here twice. First time I was just because it showed up in the "food near me" section so my friend and I gave it a shot. Walk in and greeted by the person at the front immediately. The restaurant has an old jazz/mom and pop feel to it. Unfortunately, everything on the menu looked AMAZING. So we had to order a couple of different things and share it. We got the chicken and waffles (chicken tenders), the eggs and bacon with an English muffin, and the fresh juices. Service was a little slow, but everything was made to order and I believe only one person was working in the kitchen, so hats off to him bc idk how he does it! The wait was WELL worth it bc the food was AMAZING. Came back a second time about a month later and the guy at the front remembered me! This time I get the eggs Benedict and it was literal perfection. I'll be back again to try everything on the menu!!

Toaster's Café in Houston absolutely delivered. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese with extra egg and extra bacon on a croissant, plus tater tots and a pancake. The food was exceptional. I honestly didn't think an Uber Eats order would arrive so fresh and so hot, but everything was perfect. The tater tots were crispy, the bacon, egg, and cheese on the croissant was full of flavor, and you can tell they understood the assignment. They actually took their time making this sandwich because it is delicious without question. Definitely order from this spot. Five stars all the way.

Place sucks. Biscuits were baked from a can. Gravy for biscuit taste like made from a gravy packet. Strawberry parfait was good but it's hard to mess that up. You have to wait in line to order. Ambiance is good.

Banana Foster French Toast and Breakfast Sandwich were FANTASTIC! Great little breakfast place! A must stop when downtown!

Chicken and Waffles

Nice atmosphere, felt clean with great vibes. I believe it is the owner who runs the whole show, taking orders & preparing the food so it's nice to see him have a steady flow of customers to support his spot. The chicken & waffles were delicious, the chicken tenders were battered perfectly! I had an iced mocha and it wasn't as sweet as I personally like but my husband thought it was great. I'd recommend this cute breakfast/brunch spot

Ok.. another one of my foodie friends put me on to the place. Came here on a Sunday with three others. Honestly, I almost missed this place because of where it's located. It's right next to the bail bonds place. There is parking on the street all around this place. Just be mindful of what day it is and what time because of the meter situation. This is a no frills kinda place. Clean and organized. There's kind of a coffee bar but I am not sure of what the options are because I never saw the window. I always try a classic breakfast - hash browns were shredded potatoes. They do have a turkey sausage option. I added my own salt and pepper . The rest of the group had chicken and waffles, French toast and bacon, and eggs Benedict. The chicken from the chicken and waffles I hear is pretty good! No complaints from the eggs Benedict. And the French toast was devoured! So don't let the outside deter you!

Fridays are usually the favorite day of the week for most working professionals. Fridays signify the end of a hard work week and every two Fridays, one can normally see a nice deposit in their bank account for their hard work. Fridays also tend to be the day where one hour lunches can turn into an hour and half lunches due to workers (who potentially just got paid) wanting to visit a new lunch spot or go back to a lunch spot that may be farther away than a Tuesday lunch spot. Three of my coworkers and I decided to venture out today and visit Toasters on the recommendation of someone in our party who said the chicken and waffles was the bomb the last time he came here for lunch. We arrived and there two other patrons in the restaurant waiting for to go orders. We walked up to the counter to order, not really needing to look at the menu because of the aforementioned chicken and waffle recommendation. Two of my coworkers ordered the chicken and waffles and a drink for a total of $17 for each order. In my opinion, a little pricey for a place that serves four waffle triangles and 2 wings. I step up to the counter and also order the chicken and waffles with a water. The cashier mentions that the water is only bottled (this is one of my pet peeves with restaurants when you can't just have a glass of water and are required to purchase a water bottle but that is just personal preference). I complete my $14 transaction for chicken and waffles and a water bottle and our last coworker behind me asks if I got the chicken tenders or the chicken wings. I mention to him that I wanted to the wings because why would you ever want tenders over whole fried wings when ordering chicken and waffles. The cashier who just took my order says that I ordered the tenders even though I made no mention of tenders in my order. He just assumed I wanted tenders so I tell the cashier that I want wings and he changes the order in the kitchen. I go to our table and mention this conversation to my other two coworkers who ordered before me and ask them if they ordered the wings or tenders. They say that they didn't specify because they just assumed it was wings and not tenders. I went back to look at the menu and it does mention that it is either tenders or wings but not once did the cashier ask us if we wanted tenders or wings. It makes a lot of sense to serve tenders over wings by default because of cost. Our last coworker who ordered specifically asked for wings so we waited in anticipation of what was about to come out from the kitchen. We see the cashier come to our table with the 4 trays of chicken and waffles and sure enough, there are two orders with tenders and two orders with whole wings. One of coworkers felt scammed in the moment and asked if he could get a refund to which the cashier responded that all sales are final and there are no refunds. There is a sign at the counter that says this. It would have been nice if the cashier had offered a substitute meal of equal value, but all he did was mention there are no refunds, drop the food on the table (not even in front of my coworker), and walk away. The chicken wings were actually decent and crispy. The waffle was a little soft for my liking but in the syrup, it tasted ok because sugar makes everything taste better (except chicken tenders). The wings are the only reason this review is 2 stars and not 1 star. The tenders looked sadder than a chicken on its way to the slaughter house. The tenders were not crispy and almost ghost white. We did not see the cashier a single time the whole time after the food was dropped off. The picture attached here shows the difference between the wings and tenders. I would not recommend this place for people in a hurry as the food took 17 minutes to come out in an empty restaurant (we were the only ones in the restaurant along with one other person who ordered after us). If you do decide to come and try the chicken, specifically ask for wings as the chicken and not the tenders. We will not be coming back here. I asked my coworker who got tenders what he would rate this place on a scale of 1-10 and he said, "If I could give it less than 1, I would." It feels like they were being deceptive by not asking us whether we wanted tenders or wings. There are so many other good chicken and waffle places in Houston. Visit those instead!

This is in your downtown area of Houston. So, if you're looking for a nice breakfast or brunch spot and still be downtown, check this place out. I had chicken and waffles. My chicken was cooked perfect. Be ready to add your own seasoning or sauces. My waffles was the bomb! I was hungry folks so it did hit the spot. The service was nice, smiling faces all around. Ambiance small place but real cool. Come check it out!

I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I'm glad we have Ike's Love & Sandwiches all the from San Francisco in Houston and wouldn't mind…read morehaving more locations in town. This is the one and only location here and a great stop for all kinds of sandwiches. Their menu includes innovative offerings and iconic flavors, essentially the best of both worlds. If you're craving a classic or simple sandwich, you can get that. However, if you're looking for something special or out of this world, you can also get it. Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). The service is typically quick, efficient, and friendly. There are more than a handful of tables inside and some out on the patio. The shared parking lot can get very crowded as it is packed with lots of other businesses.

Honestly, in the beginning it was pretty rough, slow service, incorrect orders, and the sandwiches just weren't as good as what I was used to getting in California. The sandwiches have been fresh and really tasty, and the customer service has been solid. I also spoke with Jose, and he mentioned he's been working hard to turn things around, and it definitely shows. Not sure why they don't have more locations yet, but I hope they expand soon!

To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats.
