I've been a loyal Tocayo customer for years, and their Cala Todo used to be my absolute favorite. It was the perfect portion -- filling, flavorful, and always tasted fresh. It genuinely felt worth the money. But over the past year, things have really changed. What used to cost about $27 for two after tax is now close to $40, and somehow the portions have gotten smaller. On top of that, the flavor just isn't the same. It doesn't taste as fresh or as well-balanced as it used to. The salsa especially used to have a real kick -- now it barely has any spice. And switching from limes to lemons completely changes the flavor profile in a way that just doesn't work for the dish. I'm honestly disappointed because I used to recommend Tocayo to everyone. I understand prices go up, but smaller portions and lower quality at a higher price is hard to justify. I'm not really one to comment or review but l'm a long time fan and consumer of your birria and I've been pretty disappointed lately. The last few times l've gone to the Rubidoux location 1. The employee there has a bad attitude 2. We get like 3 strands of meat on our tacos. When we first started going there (2020) we would be so full and satisfied with a Calatodo and now it's basically just tortilla. Drove past this taco truck and I wasn't sure if it was open but the windows were open it was during the day. At night it's easier to tell because all the lights are on lol it was really good! They even gave me a bunch of meat to buy that I could give my dog that didn't have any of the onion in it. I got two tacos that were really good. It's interesting because they're a little bit different from what you're expecting But ends up being very tasty! More importantly it's not just tasty but I went on a hike afterwards and didn't have any of those taco burps or anything like that I know it sounds gross but you know what I'm talking about. It was fantastic and it actually tasted very healthy and very fresh. I ended up buying a gentleman that was nearby a plate and a drink that was hungry. He is very smart to post up there because I'm sure he's eating very well and very healthy! 1st time trying and.... Apparently they didn't have any quesatacos dorados, so I was disappointed. Still gave them a try, they were good but too much meat that it wasn't enjoyable. This is my all-time favorite birrieria. It's affordable and the quality of food is great. First off, birria is essentially slow cooked beef that is saturated with flavor. This food truck specializes in birria, and so all the food items contain it. (It's like the inn n out of birria). My favorite items on the menu are the torta, the quesadilla and the taco con queso, all reasonably priced under $10 (the torta is $6 on Thursday). The hot sauce is especially fiery. A great way to add flavor to any one of their amazing dishes is to use a couple drops of lime, a little bit of hot sauce, and a splash of the caldo de birria (birria broth). When coupled with the torta, the beef broth makes an amazing dip similar to jalisco style Au jus. read more

Gentlemen taking orders and making it was rude . I asked for 8 quesobirra tacos and consommé . 47 dollars and when I was a little taken back by the price he let me know that it wasn't McDonald's . Instead of the 8 I was charged for 10 . And I got 10 of the greasiest , blandest tacos I've ever had . I'm talking tacos laying in grease with cheese black and consommé that had a half inch layer of oil . If the tacos tasted better I wouldn't have minded the crappy attitude from the guy as much , but for that ... cmon . I have only had the birria ramen a couple of times and the food is pricey, consistent with any other food truck. The vendor does speak English, which is a plus. The downfall is something I have experienced in other businesses serving the same type of food. When my Spanish-speaking coworkers place the order for the group, we get a noticeably larger portion of meat. When those of us who don't speak the language go, the meat is just about nonexistent. This is an unfair business practice because we pay the same amount for the food and when one is running a business, especially a non-chain business, word of mouth gets around. The food was really delicious the only reason I'm not giving the full 5 stars is because the lady working the register/taking order at the pop-up we went to, was a bit rude. The best tacos I've ever had so far. There were no lines when we arrived, YASSS! We got hard shell tacos, Tortas, vampero and burrito. Hard shell tacos were $2 each, $8 for tortas, and $8 for burrito. They have daily specials as well but who cares about special when you want instant gratification. I was blown away on the blast of flavor of the vampero, eating on the drive home. The meat was perfectly stew, moist and lean. The shell I believe is made out of cheese that was grilled to perfect crispness. It came with onions, cilantro and side of fiery hot sauce. It hit all the taste buds in just one bite.
